    Well, JJR, I finally pulled the trigger an bought Avalanche springs; they measure 3 inches taller than the progressive police springs I put in last year; I purchased 98 F150 shocks, this time without the coilovers. I will have to purchase OR fabricate longer sway bar links so I can reinstall the sway bar. The lower shock mounts on the 96 are stud mounts instead of a thru-bolt so I had to press the bushing sleeves out; otherwise all went well. The ground clearance at the hitch receiver went from 7-1/2" to 13-1/2" with the same load in the trunk. The left brake hose needed to have its frame anchor point dropped 3" to keep from tearing it out on rebound. But, hey, she's not draggin' her tail on driveways and speed bumps! Thanks for your help!

    J.J.....
    My 96 Grand Marquis GS(non-air suspension) had the stock springs all around when I decided to install a tow hitch, after which I experienced excessive tail-dragging; I then installed police springs(progressive) on the rear and Gabriel coil overs all around which lifted the front end, but the ride height at the rear didn't change. Will 1997 Expedition springs bring me up 2 to 3 inches without having to change control arms, and should I expect to need longer shocks, or will the Gabriels' shock travel be sufficient? I don't plan to change away from the stock 15 inch wheels and tires, I just don't want to continue with the tailscrape tango.

    Yo bro I love the collection, hopefully I can get mine there someday, but I got a quick question, can you put f150 or expedition shocks on the front too. I lifted my 98 marquis using the 3" lift cups on front & back but I put the original front shocks back on after adding the lift but used f150 shocks on the back?

    • @jaye23able
      @jaye23able  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tried the front but the F-150 struts sit at an angle and won't slide in the top of the crown Vic, so my suggestion is to order the 3 inch strut spacers for the front

    Hi Jay, great video I appreciate all the great info you share in the video and in the comments. Your cars are awesome I had a couple of questions,
    With the 02-05 Chevy Tahoe z71 4x4 coil springs, how much lift did you get?
    With the 97-02 Ford Expedition springs, how much lift did you get?
    How stiff do they ride?

    • @jaye23able
      @jaye23able  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The expedition springs are much taller, you can put 26 to 28 inches with the expedition springs plus the ride is not rough because the f-150 shocks can be extended to compliment the springs

    The Avalanche springs and F150 shocks worked beautifully; two weeks in and the car is very controllable with a slightly nose-down attitude despite the left-front tire deflating to run-flat on the freeway yesterday morning. Two questions, however. I had to leave the rear sway bar off; the links are too short now. The car is pre-98 so it has the older suspension. Do you have a recommendation for longer links? And, are heftier sway bars(police?) available? Thanks.

    I'm not sure if you can help me. I have a 2000 Lincoln Town Car. I'm interested in getting a brush guard/push bar installed on it, but one of the few brush guards that I know of is designed to install on a Crown Victoria. The installer that I will be working with is very experienced, so that's not an issue. Based on your experience with Town Cars and Crown Vics, do you think it's reasonable to believe that a brush guard for a Crown Vic could install onto a Town Car, even if there have to be some modifications to the install?

    • @jaye23able
      @jaye23able  ปีที่แล้ว

      if you get the brush guard with the front bumper installation you will need the metal bumper from the P71 and all the hardware to install on the town car plus you will have to cut 2 holes in the Town Car bumper for the rods to come all the way thru, the rest is easy from there

    Additionally, on my 96 the left-rear brake caliper is behind the axle while the right-rear is ahead of the axle. The issue is that the left-rear caliper hose is too short when lifted. I solved the problem by fabricating a bracket to lower the tee-block three inches to allow longer wheel travel. This I found to be unnecessary on the right. Just a detail to be watched out for if you are lifting the older model.
    Soon I will try to find a set of the early 80s Ford/Lincoln/Mercury aluminium turbine(35spoke) wheels; a wheel that looks like they belong on the car. Grandpa bought this car new in '96 and I would like to do some restoration work when I can(I am retiring soon). So the hooptie will get some facelift work.
    Well, it's back to the old homestead to change three window mechanisms. Peace.
    Coop.
