I'll be another proud crown vic owner commenting. Amazing car, built like a tank. Every bit as reliable as these newer more modern cars out here, with no unnecessary car payment and super easy to work on for the most part. Simple technology, and built the way a car should be in my opinion. Takes me everywhere I need to go even hundreds of miles with no complaints. Don't care what anybody says, one of the best cars ever made in my opinion. The only thing that would make these cars better is if they came in stick shift.
When some of the maintenance people do the repairs on these cards they don't change the transmission filter they just drain the transmission fluid and add new fluid check to see if the filter has been changed there's a label inside the pan I just chang the filter in the fluid anyway also make sure when they move all the police equipment that they don't leave bare wires just hanging there because it could cause a fire good luck changing spark plugs make sure you talk down to 15 psrg
Only thing that will bite you in the ass is the transmission and the intake manifold if you don’t catch that intake manifold leak your car will get severe misfires when that coolant leaks into the spark plug holes
Just bought a 2011 yesterday with 100k and 3100 idle hours yesterday!! Looks, runs, sounds, drives like new!! LOVE IT! Got the full CARFAX on it, it was very well maintained - was a Connecticut State Police Hiway Cruiser!! Came with new tires, new battery, full braked all around, and new upper and lower control arms - basically all work that I'll never have to do now, except for occassional brake jobs, but most major repairs were done prior to purchase! And I paid UNDER 5 GRAND!!! 👍👍👍
@@gpipeline unless you have cash, dealers have them near me with less than 80K miles for around $6,900 on average but if you had cash and offered 6K or less they’d most likely take it.
On the interstate people are more likely to move over for me to pass. People do tend to campout on the left lane around here because the right lane is pretty rough.
The speed limit is 'maximum', not a 'minimum'. So doing 5 or 10 mph UNDER the speed limit is totally legal while 5 or 10 mph OVER the speed limit is totally ilegal.
@@domquixote1615 I am not sure what the relevance of your comment is to the the subject presented. There are minimum speed limits in many states where driving below a certain speed can be considered a hazard to other motorists.
I like this dude! Owned this exact car for years until somebody t-boned the hell out of me on my way to work. After that i still drove it for another two years, just couldn't use the entire passenger side. I had just gotten it aligned before the accident, afterwards it still drove straight as an arrow! I could not believe the punishment it took. Just bought myself another '08 with 60k miles, 2700 idle hours. Going to drive out to Arizona to pick it up this week! :)
I drive a 2011 with 4700 idle hours & 150k miles. This is by far my favorite car I have owned so far. It is reliable as hell, I LOVE the sound of its v8, its very roomy & comfortable (even for me being 6'5.) It still makes me sad Ford quit making these things. I know the design was dated, but all panther platforms were amazing. Rear wheel drive, body on frame, bulletproof engine I mean Ford really made a big mistake in my opinion.
I wholeheartedly concur with you Chuck, I,m getting mine next week in a speciality shop a 2010 white Crown Vic indeed, and looking forward to it, I've read nothing but good input on this fantastic Ford cruiser, and yes Ford shot themselves in the foot by discontinuing this extraordinary automobile, don't understand these automakers one bit.
All technology will eventually become obsolete. My greater gripe is that the Panther platform is one of MANY auto designs that were legendary and we have no access to it. With current manufacturing technology, we can create custom cars built on the design. As in making these obsolete cars brand new. The only problem is that the auto manufactures refuse to sell the design to the public. And there is a regulatory concern with making street legal cars with obsolete tech.
Burnout a day keeps the mechanic away... 06 p71 with 345k miles and 3100 idle hours all original besides cams exhaust and tune. I'll daily a crown vic until I can't drive anymore.
3 year old comment but I got 167K on mine and 10,700 idle hours pretty damn high but knock on wood it’s still running pretty nicely, it was a former Warwick Rhode Island Police Cruiser turned into the School Department’s car so I’m sure the car has seen a lot. But I changed my oil and cleaned out the fuel system with seafoam and threw seafoam in the old oil before I changed it, it still runs smooth as butter.
I loved my 2005 Crown Victoria P71 Interceptor. I called it my 4 door Mustang. I wish I didn't have to sell it. People drove carefully around me and I enjoyed that since I had my 7 year old son. When he wasn't in the car and felt like having a little fun look out here comes my Vic.
My 2011 crown Vic with 39k, 1900 idle hours, black, dual spots, push bar, steely wheels, ballistic front door panels and all the heavy duty upgrades coming this week. Retired detective unit LAPD. Thanks for sharing your ride.
I have a 2011 130K miles 10,000 hours. Changed timing chains and j modded the trans, changed the 11.5 inch converter for a 12 inch 2000 stall and it runs so good.
Love the vic thanks for the video. I recently bought a 2010 at auction with 77,000 mi for 2 grand. It needed some cleaning and a full tune up now runs great. I drove these as a cop and love em. Best car ever I am now retired and still love driving it. The best thing I love about it a pushbar was on it with spotlight and they left all the equipment in it but disconnected. My battlestar galactica
Bought mine about 6 months ago as my first car. A 2010 with 220k miles, 720 idle hours and a badass looking ram bar. It's a great car. Hasn't let me down yet and I doubt it ever will. I love it.
I own and operate a taxi service. I have 4 cars so far, 2 grand marquis 1 town car and just bought a 2011 CVPI..50k with 740 IH Black on black was an unmarked slick top patrol unit. Paid 6500 absolute beast. Love it! This is going into service as my daily and work car.
I love getting on the highway and being able to floor it for fun. Unfortunately I had too much fun and now have a lifter making noise once the engine is warmed up well :(
@@j2d4oi I use GTX high mileage full synthetic and quiets the lifters and has been amazing on the engine. When I go to get an oil change I just buy the stuff from Walmart and I make them put that in because not everybody carries it I won't use any other oil now. When I first started traveling across the U.S. I was burning oil and it requires the motorcraft synthetic blend but ever since I started putting this oil in I don't burn anymore. I have the 2008 p71 195,000 MI 4700 idle miles and it just runs like a champ
Yeh i bought my daily driver crown 2000 one, bought it for 1200! Alot of wierd prob like driver window went out & had to replace all the ball joints..but still going strong at 156000
I'm from San Francisco I have a 2008 Crown Victoria Yellow Taxi Cab that car never breaks down it has heart it's smooth it's powerful everybody knows it when I'm driving by.
I bought a 2008 P71 off of auction for $825. Only had 80k miles! 20k Miles later I have to say this is the BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED for all of the reasons you quoted and more. Loved your video and your viewpoints!
I'm a former cop. My first privately owned CVPI was a brand new 1986. 5.0 V8 was nice. Been driving them for an uninterrupted 35 years. Just bought an unmarked 2008 with 77K miles and 1350 idle hrs. Yup - 13 years old with 1350 idle hrs. 2 hours a week for 13 years. immaculate and a Flex Fuel to boot. Runs on 106 octane E85 alcohol (or 91 - 93 pump gas). I've owned 5 Cadillacs in that time, plus a Mercedes, a Porsche and a BMW 740IL. The P71 (I always kept one as a backup daily driver/farm truck/pickup/family taxi/tow truck/express train) is - by far - a better, more reliable, longer lasting, easier and cheaper to maintain and more versatile vehicle than ANY of them. An overall better car. BETTER than any Mercedes, BMW or Cadillac. Not prettier, or faster, nor as luxurious - but the BMW dealer wanted $3,000 to put the sunroof back on the track, the Cadillacs could not keep an engine or stay out of the shop, and my first "tune-up" for my Mercedes at the dealer was $1,250 - and that was in 1971. If you gave me one for free on Monday, I'd sell it on Tuesday, and with the money I'd buy an old P71 for everyone in my family and all my friends. Think of it this way - if you bought a10 yr old CVPI for $2 or 3,000 instead of spending 125,000 for a Mercedes Kommand Kar, you could put $10,000 or $20,000 in the P71 - blow ANY M-B or BMW into the freakin' weeds, install unborn llama skin upholstery with inch-deep carpet and a 500 watt stereo, every electronic upgrade known to man and put the $100,000 you saved in the bank (summer home, nice boat or world cruise++)
08 is my favorite year. Mine had keyed alike option so one of seven fleet keys will open the car. Mine had 1284X which is the most common fleet key. I've heard more than a few stories about theft so decided to re-key the entire car with civilian randomly lkeyed ignition from the junkyard. Had to re-code trunk and passenger door locks but that is not difficult. Well worth the effort for better security.
great video man. These are arguably the best car Ford has ever built. THE best bang for your buck hands down. The handling on these cars is amazing. Tough as nails. Body on frame. I can go on and on
I had a 93 CV PI as my first car back in 1999.to the other comments, can confirm they'll tow. Installed a tow package and pulled a '79 MGB from Dallas to San Angelo TX on a trailer. Went back the next weekend to grab an '80 from the same seller. Had to go easy on the brakes though. The size of the rear trunk is mind boggling..video doesn't do it justice. Made multiple road trips with 5 grown adults in the car and all our luggage (plus the spare, which we had to dig out onece) in the back. Was a great car..sold it to a marine before I moved to Japan..now you got me looking at auction sites..
The rear windows should be functional. Most often they are just unplugged, so just plug them in. The rear interior door handles will probably require purchasing or scavenging the actual door mechanism since it is simply absent most times.
i have a 02 corolla and a 08 crown vic PI, y'd think i daily the corolla since its a 4 cylinder and i commute 100 miles a day, nah i daily the crown vic, i can't resist driving the thing, i also get 400 miles per tank
Cheaper insurance (less costly to repair/replace, no one steals them) Safety: It's heavy. More mass = more win in a collision. Your higher inertia will absorb more impact energy. Roll a bowling ball and a baseball at each other, that bowling ball DGAF and keeps going. Maintenance is cheap, but also easy. It's super easy to do so many of your own repairs and your own maintenance. As a fleet vehicle, maintenance cost was important to owners with 100 vehicles to maintain.
Ya we got our 96 with dead speedo but easy fix and so what if one day it needs a new trans when you payed 1500$ for such a reliable vehicle and you want 2-400,000 miles out of it, and keep it under 3-5,000$ it’s one of the only ways to go and look good doin it:)
First car 2000 vic Second car 2011 vic Third car 2006 vic. Love these things. And talk about safety, I wrapped the 2011 around a tree at about 50mph. Put me in the hospital for 9 days but any other car and I would've been dead. Damn thing still started up and ran, problem is it was bent in half.
Just bought mines 2010 vic interceptor it drives so great and smooth. It has decent acceleration and power. I have own many cars and the crown vic might be the best I ever had and I only have had it for a few days thats how good crown vic are you wont believe it until you own one its so nice
Absolutely love mine. An 08 P71 that was used by the city managers office. Its ugly and beat up. But it starts everytime and runs fantastic. Forgiving of mistakes when you're goofing off. Tough enough to not care how much fun you're having. And at the same time completely at home putt'n around town. I'll have mine till it rusts out from beneath me.
I love my 1999 Grand Marquis I bought for $5000 with 52,000 miles. 18 and it's my first car. It's awesome! My dad said if I got a crown victoria interceptor I would be road royalty.
I had a 2010 Grand marquis.. Was sitting at a red light & was struck from behind.. By a mini van doing about 35 or 40.. It was a very hard hit to take.. But the Mercury took it well for me. Car was totaled.. But it saved me from serious injuries. Lookin to get myself the crown vic this time. Love these cars. Good info in the video to.. I agree on all of it.
The windows is a simple plug all you have to do is take the plastic off on the inside of the drivers b pillar and it’s right there! Plus you are supposed to have cup holders under the A/C controls. Edit: Also to mention they can tow around 3,500 lbs too!
I've been wondering about tow capacity I want to get a trailer hitch and tow a camper trailer but I wasn't sure if the transmission could handle it or the chassis.
@@vikinglife6316 I probably have around 10k towing miles on mine. All medium sized boats 2000-3000lbs. Turn overdrive off and you will be fine. Remember this trans was also used in the f150.
This is a sincere nice video I also was lucky enough to buy a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria P 71 and it looks like a taxi cab I swear I just bought it because that's all I could afford I bought it for cheap and when you drive this thing it will go anywhere and it will never break down on you it is the best car in the world.
YES MISTER YOU'RE TELLING THE TRUTH, THE BEST CAR EVER ON THE PLANET, I HAVE AN 08 GRAND MARQUIS LS SINCE 2018, AND YES THOSE CARS ARE SUPER RELIABLE, AND THOSE CARS ARE SUPER LIKE SEM-TRUCK, BUT I REALLY DON'T THINK YOU LOVE THOSE CARS BETTER THAN ME
My 2009 P71 was a juvenile detention officer’s car. It didn’t get trashed by the cops. It has 210,000 miles and just over 500 hours idle time. Just love driving it.
I had my 97 G-marquis for lil over 2yrs now it’s a System car to say the least :) mainly cause the trunk space and all the room every where else and all the panthers look GOOD. My wife just got a 96 P71 and I made all the points you did and she already drove my car so all it took was a test drive. Now she’s a P71 lover :) car was 1500$ cash. New cats, new tires new shocks all round new front rotors and pads it needs love but win X 5 anyway. I’m going to get one cause like I said my car has 2 90 pound custom made Adire audio 3001 kh’s and my electric is up to where it needs to be for those bad boy subs.
Very good vlog sir! I love mine....bought a detective's unit almosy three years ago. It was retired with 30K on the clock. Charcoal gray, carpeted and most of the options. I live in Michigan so I needed to get a second set of wheels/snow tires for the winters. I have to disagree with the "people drive cautiously around you" comment. My experience for almost three years now is that people mess with me (revving their engines as they pass, cutting right in front of you, tailgating....ect.)
I’ve got an 09 all white Crown Vic with roughly over 170k miles. Did a few mods to it, like exhaust, front bar but everything else is stock. I use mine as a daily!
While I am a fan of all Panther cars, I prefer the 2003 and up Mercury Grand Marquis. I own three of them, a 2004, 2005, and 2007. The 2005 has 321,000 miles on it, still has the original engine, and it has never been apart. I recently bought the 2007, it's like new, and only has 47,000 miles on it. I like the Panther cars because they are big, have a V8 engine, are rear wheel drive, have a solid rear axle, no independent rear suspension, and are body on frame construction. Much like a truck. They are built like a tank compared to all the little front wheel drive cars that clutter the roads. The Panther platform got a major upgrade in 2003, the most important of which is an entirely new front suspension and steering setup. The got rack and pinion steering, a massive new front subframe with new cast aluminum control arms and coil overs. The reason I prefer the Grand Marquis over the Crown Vic is because it has a softer ride, softer seats, more luxury items, and a 2.73 rear axle. Combined with an automatic overdrive, it can cruise at 65 mph on a flat road with the cruise control on just barely above idle. It can get 30+ mpg. It has a 400+ mile range with a full tank. I have taken many cross country trips in these cars, they feel just like the big land yachts of the '70s. They just float over the road. I have driven 24+ hours at the time, stopping only for gas, and have slept in them many times at rest stops. The front seats in the Grand Marquis recline all the way back until they hit the rear seat. Almost as comfortable as my bed. They are 300,000+ mile cars, and parts are everywhere. And perhaps most important, they have no trash technology. No turbochargers, no variable valve timing, no cylinder deactivation, no stop/start, 2 valves per cylinder, no self driving garbage, no touch screen, they are just basic cars. Sadly, while millions were made, they are beginning to disappear. For a long time they were so cheap that people just bought them and trashed them. Prices are going up. I suggest that anyone who likes these cars buy one. Or two. Or three.
And the best reason? It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
Hi yes we bought a 2007 crown Victoria Police Interceptor p71.Nice car we like it a lot.it really goes,a solid car.it handle the road vary nice.good response, good all -round car.
Yes they are more fun than an adult should have. I had a 1990 Crown Vic ex detective car from a suburb of Cleveland. Dark blue and sublime. Used to drive from Cleveland to California 2 to 3 times a year to hang with all my buddies in LA and do various spelunking around places like the Nevada test site the California Sierras and high-speed highway driving. Got my fastest ticket ever in that car in the Texas Panhandle on my way home after doing 10,000 miles in one month in California. One of my best grand trips, Probably the best. Three in the morning and I have front and rear radar detectors and scanners and everything else in the car and I’m going flat out on a two Lane crossing between I-10 and I-40 and some more on route 60 near Hereford Texas I passed two White specs while my radar detectors exploded out of nowhere. Well I’ve already been through a couple flee-and-elude Chases and I’m not in Cleveland. So I slow down pull over and wait. Finally come the two gendarmes. A very large man gets out of the first car puts on his big hat and I said oh fuck Texas Rangers. We start chatting and he goes going little faster weren’t ya, yes sir, what’s the hurry, well I’ve been gone for a month and a half I’ve done close to 14,000 miles and I’m going to be home tomorrow I’m tired. And his eyes about bugged out in the dark and said you’re in West Texas in the panhandle. I said yes sir ha. He didn’t like that answer. Then he goes well I don’t know how fast you were going. Because you came up on us so quick my damn radar wouldn’t register you. What kind of car is that, its a crown Vic sir. And he looks all around it and then asks was this a police car? Yes sir. And then he asks about the seven antennas on the roof and the radio gear on the dash that makes his two cars look like oilfield truckers. And I began to show him all the different gear that I use when I’m out around places like Nellis Air Force base or Area 51 and he’s like really! So I tell him a little about my hobbies of looking at places like that. He takes my paperwork goes to his car comes back and hands me a ticket. So I’m going to write you for 120 miles an hour. I’m guessing you were doing every bit of 150 sign here. And I would like you to take a little more time to leave Texas OK. He was a nice gentleman and when you’re basically polite and you wait for the officer you drove by at three times the speed limit At three in the morning you can’t your blessings and you leave Texas carefully. Because I’ve had a few other run ins in Texas. Like one Dallas cop asked you and 1973 “son do you know what the man act is” looking like something that just came out of haight Ashbury, you say yes sir, and he says get out of my state. Don’t get me wrong I love Texas but I’ve had a few circumstances down there. But there is no funk like an ax police or rescue vehicle. And yes I had a type III life star ambulance for my electrical truck. You think a crown Vic gets respect, you aught to see what it’s like pulling out of the driveway and Into traffic with an ambulance, it’s like Moses waving you the go ahead sign you look important. I would love to have another one. No fun like ask government vehicles that cost a boatload originally. Have fun with that beast. They’re hard to hurt.
I love my 2002 P71, it's the toughest and coolest car Ive owned. The only reason its not a daily is here in the UK fuel is much more expensive so a 40/50mpg car is a daily and lots of our roads and car parks are just too small for it! Its still my favourite car though
I live in the UK and have always liked the look of the crown victoria police car , seen in movies all over ,more so as a taxi cab perhaps, but very common all the same . What surprises me is that you can keep the bull bar on the cars and the swivel spot lamps ? Some videos on TH-cam say they still have all the Police strobe lamps and other gear! Ex Police cars over here never come with anything that may make them imitate cop cars .
Man I just realised how great one of those things could actually be and I've been wanting to get one along with my current car ( a 2013 hyundai elantra) but right now that doesn't really seem too realistic as I am moving into my first apartment in something like a couple months. After I watched your video MAN you got me SOLD on one of those haha, it seems so fun to just rip around in one of those and not have to worry about bottoming out on practically everything, and I could do DONUTS!!! My only concern is the price of regular gas whenever I won't be able to access e85, but the fact that I can fill up with e85 is an absolute plus.
Im a police captain with 25 years on the job can have an new unit every year. I choose a 1996 P71 crown vic from our fleet which only has 70k miles on it never used in patrol operations. They dont make cars like these any more. I will try to upload a video of it. it is in pristine condition
Great video. I have the same car, white, 2011, the two spotlights, I don't have the Rhino push bar, yet. Just over 140k. Whether you're going 25mph or 100mph, the ride is smooth. For a big, heavy sedan these things can get up and boogie. They're not "Corvette" fast but coming on to the freeway (I'm in San Diego) I punch it and I'm at least up to freeway flow of traffic in no time. As impressive as the pick up is, I think the way these cars stop is more impressive. I was driving up a mountain at night, twisty road, out of the corner of my right eye I saw a stop sign and slammed on the brakes. I was stunned how fast that car stopped! I'd recommend them to anyone. Only not great thing is the 15mpg, but with all the benefits, only 15 mpg is an easy trade off. Again, really enjoyed this video. Be safe.
Mainah here. For those of you who are concerned about winter, you put either put studs on and put weight in the trunk, or you drift around every corner. The P71 drives more like a pickup. Troopers up here loved em. Some have told me that (after a traffic stop, any time of year) you crank the wheel and stomp on it to spin around. Those same Troopers are slightly saddened that they can't do that in the Utilities. They did say that they got stuck a lot in the winter, but the state only put on all season unstudded Goodyear Eagles.... and there's a difference between city driving and parking in ditches and breakdown lanes and trying to gun it out of them. We get a lot of nasty weather up here and all the vics are rust buckets up here as far as the bodies, but the engines are still good. If you invest in good tires and throw a few cinderblocks in the trunk, you'll be fine if you're that concerned. I drove a 2011 retired airport patrol car, Unit 776, from Bangor PD. That was the most fun that I've ever had in a car.
I have bought a 97 crown Vic that was my favorite one always have loved that car it was a silver bullet but I ran it down , but then I turned around and about a 99 police interceptor and that was back in 2010 are right this day I'm driving it now 2019 but my original motor went weak 😑 I bought another one take parts off it ( motor and trans ) an I back driving love the power it his in them ooo yeaaa loving it
I use to own a 2000 Crown Vic P71 for almost 3 years that I bought for $1,500 with 101k back in November 2016 and over all it indeed was a fun car... I sold it almost 2 years ago for $2,000 with 114k...
Mine has 3k idle hours but only 80k when I bought it Behind the center piller plastic (between the front seats and rear doors, pull back the plastic and plug in your rear windows. Also, on mine after taking the rear interior door panels off it was easy to reconnect the old door locks / handles. The little pull-up door lock things were just bent down under the panels so I just used some pliers to bend them back up and poke them back through the holes on the rear interior door panels
Ford Motor Company will never have the guts to ever build another Crown Vic or Grand Marquis they were reliable an affordable to work on none of the motor companies will ever produce an affordable reliable car like this again so enjoy them why you have them brother a great video peace
I manage a cab company. We still have 65 of these cars, most with over 300,000 miles. General maintenance is all they need. They ONLY weak point is rust, typically the driver side front fender and the passenger rear floor pan rust.
Yes big man you are absolutely right, those cars are awesome, again those cars are the best on this planet, and I have an 08 grand marquis from 2018 and I'm still having it, the best of the best of all.
I bought a new '02 Vic in Matador Red with tan leather, wide beam mags, and Police Interceptor package that includes the 4v engine.Sweetest big car I ever owned, but I traded it for an '04 Terminator in Redfire.Wish I could have afforded them both, but the Vic was loaded at $32,000 and big payments.
Hey check this out brother don't know if you know but in the 50s Ford actually come out with Crown Vic and I believe that it lasted three years and they cut it off and then bring it back in the 90s but I believe the LTD and the Crown Vic LTD are some of the best cars ever made now they may not be sports car but they are still tell me the best cars on the road police love them for their performance in their rideability in their comfort as did anyone else with any brains LOL my friend I'm pleased with your chores I've always wanted me a 69 LTD they was not making Crown Vics in that time they were still anox just under
Just bought an 09 P71 with 55k miles and 75 Idle hrs. and NO paint over. All white with some small paint issues. Man, I have a woody! It's a beast! $5700
We picked up 2 of these cop crown vics. Both were flawless condition. 1 I gave 4500. for it. Nice car. Uncut. Full factory interiors in both. No spotlites. No plastic seats. No extra equipment. These cars were rairly used. One has 72000mi. The other with 51000miles. The one with the least miles has the engine and trans stolen out of it. Hmmmm. Sounds like an inside job to me. 72 we drive everyday. 51 is a great platform to build by. I ordered a 5.8 4cam 4valve per cylinder coyote with the to built racing aod trans installed. New computer and a complete new wiring from painless. The computer was reprogrammed. We decided to remove the suspension front and rear plus removed the rear axle assy. We made a desert suspension. Rear chunk tucked and cv axles with independent rear suspension same for the front allowing the new rack and pinion to work perfectly. Having this lift is amazing. On or off road this car is stable. Police pushbar on the front and a impact bar on the rear. Roof rack. We have a winch on the front. The frame we add strength to it. I spent way to much money on this car but in the end it turned out amazing.
just got my license today and im heavily debating these big ol boats. i might be test driving one next week because ive only ever driven a malibu thats even remotely the cars size
Yep, friend of mine was engineer for ford and the trannys are built for aggressive shifting varies between 2005 and up which they used different electrical in it
It's really great having a car like that with 0-60 times did I say they were slow it's like watching grass grow not to mention all the transmission problems and the intake manifold leaks and the spark plugs that have and if not properly install will crash through the hood when you're driving what a great car it is and if you buy one that has over 1,000 idling miles good luck
I have a 1994 Crown Vic LX and after a shitty day on my way home I can just nail the throttle and it all just goes away. Nothing like that 4.6 still kicking ass 29 years after she rolled off the assembly line.
The Vic has all the performance parts for a Ford full sized sedan. It has the right components to make it handle well with oversize shocks and springs, plus the good sway bars. The transmissions have a better program and smaller torque converter for better power delivery. They have aluminum driveshafts, standard equipment. The only problem is the plain Jane interior. I have a P71 that I have drove for years and a MGM with the nicer leather interior. The Grand Ma is the same basic car as the P71 with nicer interior, but it just doesn't jump around as well. Besides that... Everything you say is absolutely true.
My sentiment exactly! Absolutely LOVE mine, but stick would make it just that much more fun
Best cars ever built, never again.
Bet you'd have to pay 7 grand for that same car now
@@gpipeline unless you have cash, dealers have them near me with less than 80K miles for around $6,900 on average but if you had cash and offered 6K or less they’d most likely take it.
Awesome I have the same model and I freakin love ❤it you made the best decision running @ 183,594 and still running Strong
I'm from CT
Do you still have your crown Vic???
Only irritating thing about owning one is having everyone in front of you doing 5 or 10 mph under the speed limit.
We call them "freezers" because they freeze up when they see you behind them
@@bunsonhoneydew9099 thats a good one. Ill have to remember that
On the interstate people are more likely to move over for me to pass.
Honestly I’m pretty proud I bought my crown Vic as my first car
It's my first car, too!
Soon to be mine as well. 2011 Black Crown Vic LX.
@@incognito7838 Nice!
My biggest regret is not doing that.
When I'm 16 I'm getting one
I wholeheartedly concur with you Chuck, I,m getting mine next week in a speciality shop a 2010 white Crown Vic indeed, and looking forward to it, I've read nothing but good input on this fantastic Ford cruiser, and yes Ford shot themselves in the foot by discontinuing this extraordinary automobile, don't understand these automakers one bit.
the design not having changed significantly since 97 makes it better
All technology will eventually become obsolete. My greater gripe is that the Panther platform is one of MANY auto designs that were legendary and we have no access to it. With current manufacturing technology, we can create custom cars built on the design. As in making these obsolete cars brand new. The only problem is that the auto manufactures refuse to sell the design to the public. And there is a regulatory concern with making street legal cars with obsolete tech.
@@thedevilsadvocate3710God Street legal cars with obsolete technology sounds like a dream come true for me lol

It's a useful meter allowing you to better estimate the actual "miles" on the engine.

Great buy. What auction did you go to? Maybe I'll get lucky. Why finance a car especially when you can get a great reliable car like this one
What year was this auction?
Bought a 2010 for $2800 in Canada. 87k miles and 2100 idle hr. Love it! Thanx for your video.
great video man.
BUYING ONE TOMORROW. 2007 Crown Vic, 93K.
The rear windows should be functional. Most often they are just unplugged, so just plug them in.
The rear interior door handles will probably require purchasing or scavenging the actual door mechanism since it is simply absent most times.
i have a 02 corolla and a 08 crown vic PI, y'd think i daily the corolla since its a 4 cylinder and i commute 100 miles a day, nah i daily the crown vic, i can't resist driving the thing, i also get 400 miles per tank

going to look at a 2010 p71 with 86k miles and 2200 idle hours. I had a 2003 and loved it.
Cheaper insurance (less costly to repair/replace, no one steals them)
Safety: It's heavy.
I will soon have a 2006 crown vic P71.
Edit: I have it now :D
the odometer is dead tho D:
Well you get it sideways yet? lmao
The update made me happy
Ya we got our 96 with dead speedo but easy fix and so what if one day it needs a new trans when you payed 1500$ for such a reliable vehicle and you want 2-400,000 miles out of it, and keep it under 3-5,000$ it’s one of the only ways to go and look good doin it:)

Or two. Or three.
We love our 2009 crown vic ex police vehicle living in a retirement area keeps the blind eye open
back doors.
take door panel off and connect everything back up.
Here in Arizona, you can keep the black and white.
Write much?

Sorry that was so hard on your brain
I thought it was pretty damn entertaining!
Get rid of that Elantra before it combusts into flames
Im a police captain with 25 years on the job can have an new unit every year. I choose a 1996 P71 crown vic from our fleet which only has 70k miles on it never used in patrol operations. They dont make cars like these any more. I will try to upload a video of it. it is in pristine condition
I would love to see a video of that. Also thank you for your service
I got 07 Vic with 155k and 8k idle hours still runs strong the only thing I had to replace was rear axle seals/bearings and ac and now My egr valve
P71’s-Hated by criminals and Shady people. Loved by everyone else. That should be a bumper sticker :)
Way funner to ride in the front then the back... lol got to love my 06 p71 interceptor 🚓🕺
Mine has 3k idle hours but only 80k when I bought it
Behind the center piller plastic (between the front seats and rear doors, pull back the plastic and plug in your rear windows. Also, on mine after taking the rear interior door panels off it was easy to reconnect the old door locks / handles. The little pull-up door lock things were just bent down under the panels so I just used some pliers to bend them back up and poke them back through the holes on the rear interior door panels
I have one of those! I don’t drive too much, but it’s a great car, and it has plenty of storage space, perfect for carrying things to my college dorm!
Love the video man! One of the best for the P-71...
Ford Motor Company will never have the guts to ever build another Crown Vic or Grand Marquis they were reliable an affordable to work on none of the motor companies will ever produce an affordable reliable car like this again so enjoy them why you have them brother a great video peace
The stab proof plate is plastic- not metal.
Actually it's reinforced polymer Kevlar material
Kevlar itself wont stop a knife...
It's not just Kevlar
You look like Julian from trailer park boys
Fat version
@BIG DUCK 69 i dont ride skateboards nor have i ever owned a pair of skinny jeans. What are you mad cause you're fat to
SanBLiving the dirty dino 🤣😂😂
He needs to carry around a rum coke in all his videos from now on
I kept on thinking I was getting text messages while watching this video! Good job buddy very informative!
Me too! I kept checking because I was working on a project listening to the video.
I manage a cab company. We still have 65 of these cars, most with over 300,000 miles. General maintenance is all they need. They ONLY weak point is rust, typically the driver side front fender and the passenger rear floor pan rust.
You are correct. The fenders are piss poor for rust. Went thru one set for the front on a 2000 I had, and now I need a set for the 2010 I have.
I have a herd of 5 panthers, 2 of them are P71s. Love em and will always drive them, daily.
Crown Victoria's were produced in the 1950s the look we all know and love today didn't come about until 1998
man, I wish crown vic cop cars were still going for 2200 lmao
I got a 06 p71 109k miles one of my favorite cars‼️
Hey check this out brother don't know if you know but in the 50s Ford actually come out with Crown Vic and I believe that it lasted three years and they cut it off and then bring it back in the 90s but I believe the LTD and the Crown Vic LTD are some of the best cars ever made now they may not be sports car but they are still tell me the best cars on the road police love them for their performance in their rideability in their comfort as did anyone else with any brains LOL my friend I'm pleased with your chores I've always wanted me a 69 LTD they was not making Crown Vics in that time they were still anox just under
Kenneth Mason have you ever heard of punctuation? I’d look it up if I were you.
Just bought an 09 P71 with 55k miles and 75 Idle hrs. and NO paint over. All white with some small paint issues. Man, I have a woody! It's a beast! $5700
Yup have a black 96 right now sweet rides go foever!!!! 😊👍👌
Got same year 143,000 miles on it and I love it the inside is like brand new
just got my license today and im heavily debating these big ol boats. i might be test driving one next week because ive only ever driven a malibu thats even remotely the cars size
Got my license 6 months ago, bought a 2005 P71 two weeks ago, best decision of my life :)
I'm now on my second Crown Vic. In the 5 years between them, I've sent two FWD sedans to the junk yard. RWD cop cars are awesome daily drivers.
I sincerely hope you have slowed down since.
Great video. Thanks
I have a 1994 Crown Vic LX and after a shitty day on my way home I can just nail the throttle and it all just goes away. Nothing like that 4.6 still kicking ass 29 years after she rolled off the assembly line.
Looking at a tribal patrol car 2011 p7b for $1500 at 155k miles. Everything works on it but it’s a patrol car so is that a good pick?
Jake- where’s the blues mobile?
Elroy- this is a cop car. It’s got cop engine, cop brakes. ....
Came to the comments looking for this comment, was not disappointed 🤠👍
Misplaced Hillbilly hahahaha 🙌
Misplaced Hillbilly love that movie !
Its jake and elwood not elroy😂😂
Yup!! We’re on a mission from GOD.
I have a crown Victoria best car I bought yet 👍🏿
The Vic has all the performance parts for a Ford full sized sedan. It has the right components to make it handle well with oversize shocks and springs, plus the good sway bars. The transmissions have a better program and smaller torque converter for better power delivery. They have aluminum driveshafts, standard equipment. The only problem is the plain Jane interior. I have a P71 that I have drove for years and a MGM with the nicer leather interior. The Grand Ma is the same basic car as the P71 with nicer interior, but it just doesn't jump around as well. Besides that... Everything you say is absolutely true.
