Hi. Yes, but you need to have a car if you want to return at night time. There’s no train or ferry that runs late at night.
I went for a holiday in Austria in 2019. I took a day tour from Salzburg, I think it was called Sound of Music tour which included a trip to Hallstat. We returned to Salzburg in the evening.
