Last summer, I sat in a Vienna music hall, listened to Mozart's music being played by a 6 piece ensemble. No speakers, perfect acoustics. One of the most moving events of my life. I ran through the covered arch where Julie Andrews ran. I played on the stairs at Mirabelle Gardens. It was a wonderful trip! And I'd love to go back again someday!
I was in Salzburg with some family last year. My Aunt, Grandmother, my Cousin and I were in Europe for 10 days. When we were in Salzburg, we saw the birthplace of Mozart. It was just fascinating, since I love listening to classical music. Learned so much about this great composer.

No kidding! He's on permanent vacation as a job, and has made a nice living do it. And has entertained and educated lots of us giving as experiences and knowledge we otherwise would never happened. He's made himself and all of us well off. An inspiration to us all.
Mozart was such a genius. Did you all know that he wrote his first piece at the age of five, performed before two imperial courts by six, and then composed his first symphony by eight?Gosh, were did he come from!
I was in Europe last June with some family. We visited Germany and Austria. We went to Salzburg for a day, and it was absolutely beautiful! We went and saw the birthplace of Mozart while we were there. I’m a lover of classical music, so this was right up my alley. It was a dream of mine since I was young to go to Europe, and it was just incredible to see a dream come true.
The Salzkammergut Lake District is heaven on earth! I visited Austria on 2018, meanwhile I was backpacking across Europe. It was my favorite destination overall. The hills are truly alive, the colors of the grass and lakes are so vivid, the nature is so beautiful and the air is so fresh. Only Bayern's or Switzerland's nature can compete against such beauty. Es ist wirklich das Paradies!
I am from Salzburg and i would greatly recommend to go to the Fuschlsee instead of Hallstadt. I find it even more beautiful and there are only half of the Tourists.
The moment we stepped out from our hotel into the market of the old city, me and my both exclaimed, in unison, wow... . It has history, mystic, old world charm, green meadows, hills, palaces, castles, music and it's legendary composer. What more can you ask for?
Last week I came back from a 2 week euro trip which included Salzbur and Hallstatt. And now I'm tearing up watching all these videos. I want to go back :(
I took a trip around Germany, while in Munich we could take a train to Salzburg. I wanted to go, but nobody else wanted to go, and I didn't really want to go by myself... I was only 18 at the time. I wish I would have. :( I can't recall the other option and what the group and I did. I think it was several options. Whatever it was, the only thing I remember is not going to Salzburg. :(
Rick Steve thank you for taking me to Salzburg, it is breath taking. I watched that movie about 6 times THE SOUND OF MUSIC, I was in high school the late sixties. Just A mazing.
I just found this video even made 7 years ageist very relaxing to watching I'm a certified nature lover I'm so enjoying watching a video like this thank you Mr. Steve🙏

I wonder how much cellophane they use to keep it clean. This is the official place to make romantic love stories. Mozart had it easy - if I lived in Salz I too would have written a lot of music. Great vid Rick.
He's visiting Salzburg at the wrong time of the year...my wife and I were there in mid December. It was a wonderful and magical time to visit. The Christmas markets were great, the weather cold and snowy...just a beautiful city...
I have a classical music background and have traveled to musical cities like this one 15 years ago. Rick Steve's travel guide is the most authentic, cultured and practical ones. He has good taste in music and culture. When I lose inspiration or feel down in life, I always come back to his musical city videos. The Salzburg Cathedral now has a youtube chanel and streams music regularly. Now we can enjoy the pure and elevated music of Mozart in his hometown sitting at home!
One of the most beautiful cities in Europe. ve been a short round-trip time from Vienna to Pappeburg with other Studenten friends. This greatly adds to our memories of this beautiful city.

So I returned by myself last 2015 from Munich and to Prague after here, but was so happy to finally able to do the Sound of Music tour visited Mondsee, Salzkammergut, and around Salzburg itself, and was a great experience! If travel becomes okay again, will surely come back.
