- With Hogwarts Legacy releasing this November/December here is a trip back to the first ever Harry Potter Game that gave us a fully open, explorable Hogwarts modelled after the film sets.

For its time this was actually a brilliant recreation! 2007!
This game is special. And holds a big place in my heart, and memory.
I remember back in 7th grade, during the holidays I used to wake up early in the morning and the first thing i would do is turn on my PS2 and play this game non-stop until my mom calls for lunch. It was so much fun exploring every inch of the castle and learning all its secrets. I used to love finding the painting doors passwords.

Played it on ps2 for lots and lots of afternoons in middle school :)
Then later on the Wii, using the Wii Remote as a magic wand was epic!
I LOVED the music here. Especially when Harry did that side quest at the Owlery for Cho Chang. The afternoon sky in the background while he climbed the tower and Cho giggled below. What a memory.
The music for hogwarts legacy has big shoes to fill. This game was so atmospheric it made up for the so-so graphics. I don’t wanna be wandering around a castle in silence come December. Make that shit magical!

I was thinking the exact same thing. This game needs a good soundtrack. While bad music doesnt make the game bad, good music makes the game amazing, especially games like Hogwarts Legacy where the music just adds a whole new experience. I hope they can get some of the previous producers to make some epic scores!
Honestly playing order of the Phoenix felt kinda dead walking around… almost became boring… I feel Hogwarts legacy is going to breed some real life into the castle
@@Aaron-un4jo when you were done yess besides some little easter eggs and secrets to discover. The Halfblood Prince improved on it quite a bit with the minigames. But hogwarts legacy can definitely improve tons with new technology
I loved duelling and playing magic chess for hours back then! Really hope they bring the chess back in Hogwarts Legacy!
This was such a fantastic game. I really miss movie tie in games.
They still happen every now and then, they've just gotten worse by comparison to AAA and even Indie games.

Ive just dug out my old ps1, ps2, and xbox 360 to play all the harry potters again in order, order of the phoenix is my absolute favourite, but cant wait so start these ps1 classics
the sad part is that this games were so freaking short
loved this game. The atmosphere was so calmly mesmerising. As a lot of people of my age, I spent a great part of my early youth dreaming about hogwarts, imaging my own adventure in that fantasy universe. This game was the first to offer me what i was looking for. Thanks for sharing this, it is a precious memory to me
Watching this really makes me want to take a big peaceful stroll through Hogwarts whenever Legacy comes out
I think I prefer Half-Blood Prince's Hogwarts. It feels more complete and, since it's more recent, looks better in terms of graphics.
Also no fixed camera angles
But the people really lacked in HBP though... They all felt off. Like they weren't even human.
Also the frame rate and "heavy movement" in HBP were really annoying.
Nothing like spending the day at Hogwarts!
Starting the Order of the Phoenix they have the Actors from the Films to play their characters

How on earth is the Griffindor common room so small? Where is everybody? Where do they all sleep? There must be 100 kids on each house

No but really, I think it's pretty obvious that there are multiple instances of the common room sorted by the year you are in. Sort of like the room of requirement.
It makes sense to split up the last years from the first years. Imagine spending all your time with 11 year olds lol
@@TheSilverwing999 So.... space magic? Isn't this dangerous? What if two people from different years want to get in or out of the common room at the same time? I thought even transportation spell where considered dangerous at this world

I loved exploring the castle in this game! The camera movements kinda sucked though...

I remember hearing/reading somewhere on YT that the camera angles were meant to hide not generated parts of the map. It makes sense since this is the first open world game. Previous ones (on PC at least) were collections of smaller maps where all of their contents could be loaded all at once.
i played the harry potter game as a kid and use to hate the library part under the cloak , that part of the game was so hard to beat that damn cat !
For me the most beautiful game of Harry Potter, was the Prisoner of Azkaban for PS2

I played this last year (to 100%), out of a promise I'd made myself when I was younger, to finish that game eventually. It was all too familiar and by the end I realized that actually, I had already completed the game, and just forgot about it. So I have completed this game on PS3 100%, twice. I really liked it! Had to use a friend to help me with the chess minigame since I can't play chess.

The craziest shit is that Hogwarts Legacy, unless I missed something recent, still only has gameplay in the years old leak and judging from it, Order had more interesting magic mechanic with movement based spell casting while the new game is just single button press. That honestly killed all my excitement
because hogwarts legacy is more of an action game wit lots of enemy, looks like assassin's creed or other open world game mixed with hogwarts.

got the game today and was really looking forward it...the keyword is "was"....the controlls and the camera are absolute cancer..i had to stop playing, it was frustrating...such a shame....loved the first and the second game..third one was pretty short...the next game i won't even mention..and this now...well...they didn't seem to care any longer....i dont know...it is just sad

Amusing how NPC followers interact when following the player. They sorta scamper out the way when in a bad location in a most unnatural fashion.
