      knowing the trail is HUGE. i would try my "home track" in any amount of snow or vehicle. hell- i took my 74 vw bus up there (~50% in snow) and my sportster (~30% complete). on the flip- NOT knowing a trail is just as huge.

      B Roll Offroad pretty much most of the tracks I do is new to me as I'm constantly exploring new areas that I havnt been to before. I have to drive a good few hours to get there but we are pretty spoilt for choice here in Victoria. Sounds like you have alot of good stuff up there where your from. 👍

    • @BRollOffroad
      @BRollOffroad 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's awesome, keep exploring! and yes, Colorado is amazing. so many trails, all free, no check in, no fees or permits, just turn off the highway and drive up a mountain. started this channel late in the season which has cut me off from pretty much all of the cool ones. they either have too much snow or seasonal closure for animal migration. can't wait for this summer. have fun and keep posting them, i'll keep watching them.

      it stalled when it lifted the wheels and would of lost brake booster pressure when the brakes where released to prevent it from rolling over backwards which is why it would of had next to no brakes and rolled down the hill so fast

    • @Cchange4us
      @Cchange4us 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well i dont want to harp on here because there is nothing worse than an armchair expert, however i stated that he should work on vehicle control.. as the disco became out of control. There are procedures to re-gain control of a stalled vehicle on hills.. been there done that. I drive a 2004 v8 manual disco.

      There were plenty of mistakes made by the disco driver and myself in the Ranger. To make matters more difficult we were practically blinded by the sun also. Fortunately we all made it up ok and learned a lot.

      Its a lot steeper then it looks if you drive a disco find a hill thats steep enough to have the rubber mats fall out of the dash and then you'll know how steep this hill is.
      As the front lifted the throttle was released to stop if from rolling over backwards but the downside is that all braking was lost (no brake booster pressure try stopping a 2000kg diso with no brake booster it won't happen) selecting reverse gear while rolling backwards wouldn't of happened cause its not a synchronised gear and pulling the hand brake at speed risked rolling it. you don't have to many options on a hill this steep the disco was taking on a hill it wasn't capable of doing and there a risks when doing so but its about the only track it hasn't been able to do

  • @joekirklin
    @joekirklin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I would guess as others have here that there’s no CDL on that D2. The traction control system also makes it tough when you’re attempting a climb like that with a manual transmission - hence the stalling. Not entirely the driver’s fault. That hill was probably about the limit of that rig. Rubicon of course makes it look easy, but I’m not sure it’s a fair comparison without some aftermarket work on the D2. I’m a Land Rover guy, but those particular Jeeps are great.

    • @ronaldrrootiii6040

    Everybody here slating the Disco driver... I'd like to see you do better with sunlight beaming into your face. It probably would have made it if they guy could see what he was doing. But hill climbing in a Disco 2 is tricky because you have to give it enough beans to run the TC but not so much when it does get traction you shoot up like a rocket that's out of control. There's a knack to the Disco 2's TC.

    As a disco owner just like that one I can tell you that traction control is great but it sucked on that kind of Rocky stuff. I don't know why they didn't at least give a locker option. Probably because in England it's just watch a little muddy water hills but that Rubicon was made for that kind of stuff

    Someone who had a clue should've been spotting these guys. Two trucks almost went over b/c they can't see what's directly in front or behind them, and needed guidance! That's how it's done safely. If they went over for lack of a spotter, that's just plain stupid/irresponsible.

They only had it removed from the transfer box 2002-2003 and reinstated in 2004 with an updated SLABS module so the traction control worked at the same time as the CDL being engaged (on the earlier ones if you engaged CDL with the engine running it would disengage the traction control)
