    "Mustang fever" started early 2015 with all the new press release for the all new redesigned chasis. July 2015 I was on a mission to purchase an automatic Mustang GT and the idea was to use it as my work vehicle since the 2014 Fiesta ST I was using was awesome but in reality I wanted the big bad 5.0 again!
    The new Mustang is such a sports car these days compared to the 86' GT that I previously owned. It literally has twice the power, a great sound system, its comfortable, it looks awesome, sounds awesome and gets decent gas mileage for a full size coupe with a V8.
    Now, it doesn't slide around quite as well as the old Mustangs because the new mustang has an IRS standard now on all 2015 and up Mustangs finally. This allows for better rear end stability especially over bumps mid corner and exiting corners.
    I will admit that the coyote doesn't quite have the relative torque that the old 5.0 engines had, see the new coyote is a high revving V8 that has a nice linear power band. The old 5.0 was like a truck motor, instant neck snapping torque(ok it seemed like it was neck snapping at 16 years old) but after 5000 rpms it died off. The new coyote engines are just making peak torque around 4000 rpms and peak horsepower around 6500 rpms. Also the 2015 Mustang is softer riding, more insulated to noise and a little heavier than previous models. So you add all this together and you get a more subtle mustang, a much faster mustang but it is so smooth that you don't always realize how fast you are going. The power swells up instead of instantaneous torque smacking you in the face like a pushrod motor, so you never really feel like its a muscle car.
    Regardless of how different the new mustang is compared to the old generations, its better in every way possible. The new engine will hold 700-800 horsepower with just adding a supercharger. Its basically built Ford tough, you might want to change the axles if you are going to drag race this vehicle, also don't power shift that manual transmission with all that power unless you are on street tire. The automatic transmission is the best bet if you are after fast drag times or commute in a traffic packed city like me.
    The mustang on the other had was the opposite, heavier steering, the shifter was clunky and heavy to move around. The new mustang has a gigantic hood to look over and to see the passenger side mirror you have to look all the way across the vehicle, I can't see the blind spot indicators from my peripheral vision.
    Also, to be honest the torque wasn't impressive. The 2014 Fiesta ST that I was current'y driving had the feeling of more torque when driving it around the city because of the torque differential, meaning that the torque curve went from zero to full send in one second where as the linear power band of the mustang went from zero to increasingly faster as the engine revved up. I was not used to this and I actually wasn't impressed the first time I test drove one at Marina Ford.
    Fast forward a few months and I still couldn't get the idea out of my head, I just had to have one! So I got one.
    Exterior
    The exterior of the 2015 Mustang GT is a true work of art, I honestly think it is one of the best looking modern designs for a Mustang in recent years but I'm also biased. The rear looks amazing, the roof lines and overall appearance is so elegant and sexy with a twist of modern sports car design. The exterior does not have any Ford designation except for FORD written on the glass on the front windshield.
    Interior
    Depending on which model you get the interior will change its look, the performance package has the best looking interior because of the two functional oil pressure and vacuum boost gauges matched with an "engine turned" dash design that looks like a carbon fiber pattern.
    Performance
    The 2015 Mustang GT performance package is about two seconds faster around a two minute road course than a 2012-13 Mustang Boss 302. So even though it has less power and more weight than the precious boss mustang it is actually faster around a road course due to its new suspension, wheels and tire setup.

      Robby Skeens I think that is a great testament to this car that you, being a mustang guy so to speak, have been around for every body style they have ever had, and could have gone for any one of those, yet you chose the 2019....i really love the body style of these i think ford did an amazing job staying true to the car but also making it something quite new and different....i don't think any other cars have aged as well in terms of redesigns. definitely not in its class. and still one of the best sounding cars of all time....glad they brought back the 5.0!

    • @scottleighton9149
      @scottleighton9149 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AS-oo4gv i have a base with black accent package. The brakes are great and suspension is good. I see no need for the performance pack. As for interior options the cloth seats are awesome. The only thing that sucks on the base is the stereo which if you're good with audio equipment you can upgrade fairly easily. I bought mine new but if i were to buy used the price difference is marginal enough to possibly warrant the premium. I bough the car strictly for performance

      Yeah I agree. I trade my 17 5.0 for an 07 gt500 and I just traded it back for another 17 5.0. The 15-17 GT is an amazing vehicle

    • @gman8230
      @gman8230 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kyle King wow....that is a great testament to this era of mustang! I think it is the best value of any new car ever in production....some of the things you get, like the electronic steering, are not found in any other car until you start getting into really high end vehicles....the hp alone is way out of its class...i keep saying this, but Ford really set the bar in 2015 in my opinion. (I think the electronic steering came in 16 or 17, which is really the only downside of going with the 15)

    Good content Jake. Really like the videos and the way they are thought out. The 15-17 cars are a great value and very well put together. Our 15 Vert was purchased in January 2015 and has been a blast. It is actually our company car and my wife's daily driver. I drive the car quite a bit for running errands at work and trips to the store on weekend and evenings. The car has grown on me so much I actually take it to some of the local meets here instead of my GT500. A person could take a 15-17 GT and for about $10-12K, supercharger, coilovers and handling kit, wheels and tires and have a world class performance car that would be outdone only by cars in the 100K plus range.

Imagine the tires roasting in 4 gears. You will need to re- learn to drive one from stock. Only one unexpected failure was the reverse lock out came apart but Steeda make a billet one thats a easy fix. People on the road pull up all the time and say ( Beautiful ride man) and thumbs up from most every mustang on the road. Only one guy didn`t like it only because I blew past him at about 60 with tires on fire. LOL

    Hey there... Good vid, as always. Heh, the 405 and the 10 freeways are so gridlocked, that I only use em after midnight if I want to drive with any satisfaction. Same with the 5. The 210 is really the only freeway where one can drive 80+mph during normal hours, I reckon... I’m at Galpin Ford as I write this, waiting on an oil change. And they STILL don’t have a 2018 GT in the show room!! What?!? Anyway, keep doin’ the Lord’s work 👍

    • @JakeTiesler
      @JakeTiesler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah its crazy! Even at 5:00am there is flowing traffic at like 80mph haha. Galpin, I bought my first new car there... Fiesta ST. Funny that you happen to mention the 2018 Mustang and Galpin, I was almost going to drive up there to see what they have in stock but not without asking around first. Glad you answered! They should have more than anyone you would think! Thank You Thank You

    • @jonathanbriefcase2748
      @jonathanbriefcase2748 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jake Tiesler 👍 yep, I was stunned. All 2017s in the showroom, though there was a sweet 2017 GT350 in there. Across the street as Galpin Auto Sports, there was a 2014 Boss 302, I believe, modded and looking, well, boss! Anyway, my $50 oil change turned into $400 expenditure, for timing belt (65,000 miles, it was time, I guess), brake flush and other $$ whatnots. Car is purring righteously now, so I guess it’s what we want as Mustang heads 🤣. Thanks again, Jake...

    Good review Jake! Down to earth, had everything what an everyday guy would be curious about. Been love with these cars, since they came out, and honestly, the 2015-17 chassis looks way better than the new one (for me). I'm planning on buying one: 2015-16, iconic silver, analogue dash, without wing etc, but still have at least 3 years before I can afford it. Thing is that, it won't be easy to find one here in Europe, so most likely it will be imported from the US. Do you guys have any advice for good, used car webpages in the US, you browse before buying cars?

Ik what most will say about a 16 year old getting a mustang, but I am a responsible person and I love and respect cars. I really just wanna know if you think I should get the ecoboost or the gt. I’m leaning towards the ecoboost because better fuel, and lower insurance.

    Hey man, came across your channel because I'm in the market for a 2018 Mustang GT. After having driven your manual Mustang for a while, would you recommend it over the 10-speed auto? I know from what I've read that the 6-speed is updated to feel better (new clutch/dual mass flywheel etc), but it's definitely the one option I'm most torn about as I've driven only manual cars for the past 10 years and there has definitely been a lot of positive feedback on the 10-speed auto. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this!

    • @JakeTiesler
      @JakeTiesler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would go drive both and consider the type of driving that you will be doing daily. For me I'm in the city and use my mustang as a commuter so the auto would be a great change of pace. If you have more open roads and less traffic drive both and see what you prefer.

    • @331Grabber
      @331Grabber 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 6-speed in the 2018 and up has worse gearing for performance and weaker shift forks. Ford claims it "feels better" because they assume stick drivers didn't like shifting the earlier shorter geared MT82 with the 5th gear 1:1 ratio.
      So the new one has tall gears with 4th as the 1:1 ratio. And a useless tweener 5th gear overdrive ratio that gets you to the same 6th gear final drive ratio the 17s had.
      Ford screwed the manual lovers a little on the new Mustangs

    • @michaelharris748
      @michaelharris748 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@331Grabber yes they did and that has alot to do with how wide the performance gap is between the 10 speed and new manual. If it had the 17s gearing it would be closer the auto would prob only be 2 tenths or so faster than a well driven manual with the better gearing. Just get a 17 manual and throw on a ported cj intake and l&m intake cams and make more power than most fbo 18s and be faster.

If I was given a 2020 GT mustang or a 2015, it seems weird but I would choose the 2015, just a great car. I am driving about 300 miles to pick it up In Maryland The selection were i live is not good, there are more convertibles and Ecoboost then V8's. The velocity blue seems rare around here, RI, Northeast . I am 52. I always wanted one back in 1988. I ended up with a Chevy Camaro RS 6 cylinder. The Iroc was nice too. I couldn't afford at the time being 19. Having cold feet now, lol. I like my 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Z71 that I am trading in. No more mini vans, explorers, Ford focus, ect, kids are older and have their own cars. Its just me. My wife drives a BMW X2. Iam going to consider this a test run to see if I like the Mustang. I only test drove one. I retire in 8 years. If I like the car 🚗 i might get a new GT 350, or a used GT 500 as a 🎁 to myself. I might have to get a used pick up 4x4 for the winter.
