I've always been a huge Linda Ronstadt fan. She has an uncanny ability to turn other peoples songs into her own. There's no one quite like her. She's an absolute power house of an artist. Her documentary is spectacular. It's such a shame she can't perform anymore.
Just keep doing what you are doing! It is not your job to appeal to the lowest common denominator, people can and will find excuses to be offended by EVERYTHING. These videos have really helped me expand my musical knowledge/catalog. Thank you!
Great Mazzy, love the stupid, and Canciones is a treasure! …btw , theres a repress of Nielsen’s with original art cover, it’s on Sony records and it sounds great!
really nice stuff...june tabor and maddy prior sare so good..the nilsson album is brilliant, especially when you consider what he had to go thru to make it...and linda..oh man...i got to see her in penzance....how amazing is she...thanks for that memory my friend..hope you're staying well..peace to you always..rocky
Thanks Mazzy. Key Lime Pie is my nostalgic favorite, but love Telephone Free and Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart. On a different note, are you familiar with The Range Of Light Wilderness? I think their name comes from a John Muir quote. Anyway, if you can drive the Big Sur coast, do that. If you can’t, give a listen to this album, esp. “Under Your Spell” and “Magic Please”. Hooky, warm California sunshine. Impossible to find on vinyl, unfortunately. Cheers!
I've got Kracker Brand. June Tabor's 1976 solo LP has a cover of the Australian classic And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda, about soldiers returning from WW1. Tom Waits adapts the actual song Waltzing Matilda in Tom Trauberts Blues. Matilda is about a swagman (drifter) who steals a sheep, and rather than being caught by the police, he drowns himself in a billabong (creek). Based on the poem by Banjo Patterson pre WW1.
Like each series though another that might be interesting . . Six degrees. Start with a person or group the next would include a member from the prior. A good way to tie a thread and it can go anywhere. Best.
Got the original Nilsson sings Newman, shame they cropped that picture in a later version. Will definitely check out the other records you showed, some I know, some not. Funny enough, most of the artists you cover are on my shelves as well. We're from the same period (me 1954), that must be it. So if you propose something I don't know it's often interesting for me. Keep up the good work!
I'm glad you showed the Ronstadt album. I wish I could find one in the wild. Being the thrifter , it goes for anywhere between 50 and 100 dollars. It was the biggest selling non English album in the world. I think it sold like 3 million copies. As always enjoyed the video.
I first heard “Take the Skinheads Bowling” via a Manic Street Preachers cover version and loved it from the off , a slightly more grungier version but otherwise pretty faithful to the original ….great pick Mazzy
Another great video Mazzy, thank you. Speaking of the Silly Sisters how 'bout this for an album to tick some Maslovian boxes: Covers of Billy Bragg, the Grateful Dead (best Dead cover ever?) Richard Thompson, Oscar Brown jr and Elvis Costello. Danny Thompson, Martin Carthy and Richard Thompson in the band and the late, great Grande Dame of English traditional music on the mic (and there ain't nothin' like a Grande Dame. Nothing in this world.) en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norma_Waterson_(album)
➡David Lowery is an American Treasure. (saw him w/Cracker at the HopMonk Tavern last year) P.S. Randy Newman's early albums are my go to records when I want to be reminded what Superior songwriting sounds like
I had the PBS DVD of the a performance in San Francisco I took it to my mom's so she could see it and left it there when I came back it had disappeared😢 😢😢no one knows where it went. But it went with somebody it is that good.
Off topic: I just wanted to let you know that Jim Gordon died today at the Vacaville State Hospital for the Criminally Insane (at least, that's the title it used to have.) I thought you might want to do a tribute video to him, considered all the classic albums he appeared on.
I’m from Santa Cruz, and lived there back then and saw that amazing band many times. Lowry is ok, no shade, but gets too much credit. Shout out to Johnathan Segel, the multi-instrumentalist David Lindley of the band, lol, responsible for so much of their eclectic sound, amazing guitarist Greg Lisher, and wonderful bassist Victor Krummenacher, all who have had great solo albums as well as with the band Monks of Doom.
Mazzy, do you think this is a good title? I know it comes from "it's the economy, stupid"and that it is meant to be funny. Also that you came up with it,afterl the audiophile discussions. On the other hand, no one likes to be called stupid .( I know, who fits the shoe....)
If I were touring Buckingham Palace back in the day and the Queen showed me the library, would I ask her if she'd read all of those books? Sure, if I'd abandoned my brain.
It’s the economy stupid was a rally cry of what needed to be addressed, like your ITMS, it’s not pointed at any one person. #23? Just like Michael Jordan, another G.O.A.T.
I remember Carville famously making that brilliant yet simple point, believing it would gat Clinton elected. (And it did. I voted for the guy. Twice.) Another famous Carville quote, made during the uproar over Clinton's rampant and indiscreet horn dogging, didn't age as well: "Drag a hundred-dollar bill trough a trailer park, you never know what you'll find." Ah, the good ol' days...

She can sing anything even the phone book and would make it sound good.. She was that good. And Beautiful!

Awe, you're the dude Mazzy no sensible person is going to be upset about the "stupid" word. We love you, it is about the music!
Camper Van Beethoven are amazing and great live!

Great album that. Interesting fact - It was Teenage Fanclubs cover of "bowling" that was used in the doc.❤❤
I used to listen to Kerosene Hat constantly with that hit "Low"
Once again you inspire me , sometimes with records I need to seek out , in this case , I’m pulling out NILSSON SINGS NEWMAN
My first language is not English, but I love that word "Pontification" you use every now and then..Spin on Mazz
Btw if you haven't already can you talk about storage, I love your shelves. Thank you
Very nice video with so much information and all so descriptive. Thanks.
I'll be on lookout for that Linda Ronstadt record for sure!
I still have my copy. Wish I still had the DVD of the concert.
Thanks Mazzy. Key Lime Pie is my nostalgic favorite, but love Telephone Free and Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart. On a different note, are you familiar with The Range Of Light Wilderness? The Nilsson Sings Newman album has been reissued with the original cover by Speakers Corner. I'm another fan of The Silly Sisters album.
Linda Ronstadt is my fav female singer from the 1970's other than Joni Mitchell. Canciones de mi Padre is a stunner.
Like each series though another that might be interesting . . Six degrees. Start with a person or group the next would include a member from the prior. A good way to tie a thread and it can go anywhere.
Best.
Hey OMG I actually have the Maddie Pryor June Tabor album and it is a great record! Thanks Mazzy

If I come across a copy I’ll grab it. They are cheap around here. 🤠
I would appreciate it. Thank you very much.
Love your channel
Thank you ✌🏼

Difficult to believe anyone could take offense at the title of your film. People can be odd. Keep up the good work Mazzy the Maestro.
Hard to fathom the level of brain wattage that takes offense at the use of stupid in that context.

And, hey, Jim Kerouac

Or so he likes to say, "lucky bastard"
Hows the record cleaning coming, still working on it? 😊
➡David Lowery is an American Treasure. (saw him w/Cracker at the HopMonk Tavern last year) P.S. Randy Newman's early albums are my go to records when I want to be reminded what Superior songwriting sounds like
I should check out that Billy Paul. Me and Mrs Jones makes me want to puke. I have that Neilson album. I’ll send it your way.
Canciones de Mi Padre, I wish I'd seen a live show!
I had the PBS DVD of the a performance in San Francisco I took it to my mom's so she could see it and left it there when I came back it had disappeared😢
😢😢no one knows where it went. But it went with somebody it is that good.
Now the DVD goes for hundreds of the Epay.
@@SDsailor7 I had no idea it was rare, I still have mine.
@@markspooner1224 I have seen the DVD on Epay going for big money.
I knew it was about Clinton's 90s "It's the economy stupid", but then you and I are the same age.

What did he do to end there?
@@SDsailor7 He developed a psychotic mental illness where he heard 'voices'. Possibly complicated by drug use. He killed his mother.
@@SDsailor7 he had mental health issues; schizophrenia and killed his mother Sad story.
Why would you spoil the beautiful original cover of the gorgeous Nilsson Sings Newman? Insanity !!

Love Camper van B!
People really have a problem with the name of your show? More than a little sad. Makes me think of something Zappa would say. I like it.
What the world needs now is another folk singer……….
Like a junkie cosmonaut…….

If there are people out there who are offended by the title of your video, they probably are indeed stupid.

I know what you mean about stupid it’s about the music and Nothing else .
Club Med Sucks!!! Authority Sucks! I Hate Golf! I don’t wanna play LAX!!!
