Josh's videos are a breath of fresh air! No time wasted, no annoying music, just pure culinary efficiency. Love the straightforward approach. Making this recipe this week! Thanks!
I also like that he acknowledges the terribleness of vegetables but still works them in. And he also gives prepared options alternatives (like for the cabbage).
The ground meat and veg dishes are a great weeknight go-to for me. Easy to change the flavor profile with different sauces to avoid boredom. If I’m super lazy, I’ll just grab a bottled sauce or marinade - buffalo is a staple, but I love the various Asian flavors as well. I often keep bags of frozen veggies stocked up, so it’s super fast to pull together.
I usually do freeze most of my meals and then take the next days out of the freezer and put them in the fridge the night before. This seems to help with the 4-5 day old funk prepped meals get leaving them just in the fridge that whole time.
I look forward to new drops from Josh on meal preps. Recently I've been avoiding meal prep due to laziness. This was one to kick my a** back into it again. I can imaging the flavor! Thanks Josh for the kick, and please tell your boss so he doesn't beat you.
1st meal prep of 2024 was a hit. while shopping i forgot to grab a head of cabbage but then, as i was about to turn around, i remembered i still had kimchi in the fridge i haven't opened yet. i think that enhanced this dish to another level. That and i added a bit of red chili flakes for an extra kick. Making Asian food brings me joy as it takes me out of my comfort zone of typical American cuisines. Will definitely make this again
I made this yesterday and am actually eating it as I type. I had to comment immediately… This is FANTASTIC. Seriously delicious. And SO easy. This one will be a go-to. Thanks, Josh!
I just have to say how delighted I am to have found your channel. Practical, full of great teaching because of knowledge base, and you just happen to be hysterical. I have really been investigating the meal prep video world on TH-cam and although I enjoy SOME others - I will end up using this channel as the guide. Thank you.
I see this in my future. I'm loving your recipes. My family of 7 loves them. It just is one meal instead of 5 :). I've been throwing small white lentils into our rice for extra protien & fiber.
I just got a Zwilling vacuum seal set for Christmas! I also grabbed the gold membership off your website during the New Years sale. Super excited for all the new meal and snack prep I’m gonna be able to do
I have to thank you for your channel and all the work you put into it! You’re the reason I got into meal prep and thanks to that (and a heavier focus on my exercise) I’ve lost 10 kg during 2023! Thank you so much and please keep up the good work!!! Also, these videos are perfect. Straight to the point and easy to follow for even the most unexperienced novice.
This is a quick easy and excellent recipe. Thank you very much. I altered the recipe just a little bit with some Thai basil and some toasted sesame seeds.
not this exact recipe, but it's exactly as you said, this similar type of stir fry was my first attempt at meal prep almost 2 years ago, works really well
I love your highcal recipes! Recently started making breakfast burrito's inspired by you; Chorizo, eggs, onion, red&green bell pepper, strained salsa and cheese. Tastes great and 600kcals in the mornin is a lot better than 3 slices of dutch bread with a topping.
Second video watched. I don’t give out subscribes easily, but your content definitely earned one. No frills, how-to videos without all the nonsense I see on youtube. This is a perfect recipe video, easy to stop and start to follow along as I prep. Thanks a ton.
Just made this as my first ever meal prep for the week, loving it so far. Does anyone have any tips to stop the beef drying out when reheating in the microwave?
Def gonna try this one. But that certainly isn’t 1/2 tbsp of oil there. Looks more like 3/4. Not even like every drop of oil goes into the food once you drain/cook it, but at 120+ cal per tbsp that adds itself into the macros real quick.
I know. I told him probably two years ago that they should make one and I gave them the dimensions of what I think would be best and they said they’d send it to their product team but I haven’t heard anything since then.
I really need to start meal prepping. Im about to the most busiest guy i will ever be soon. I need to do meal prep as if im only eating twice a day. My goal is to very slowly lose and add more time in my life, so doing this is vital. So 2 meals a day, so 14 meals that need to be made, idk ill convert that in yout version
nice recipe!!! didn't do it so I cannot really have an opinion, but I think that adding a little rice vinegar on the sauce might help with some acidity!
Josh has stated for non- chicken dishes he microwaves for a minute on high heat, stirs & the 30 second intervals until hot. For chicken he reduces the power so as to not dry out the chicken
It’s hard to substitute gochujang because it’s so unique. I would experiment with adding more sweetness like extra honey to try to balance out the spice.
There is! Ssamjang to be precise. Its a mixture of gochujang, doenjang, sesame oil and garlic. I use it myself because I don't like too much heat either :)
Does anyone else feel like he gets way more volume in his videos than in the actual recipe? Every time ive made something of his, i never have nearly enough rice, or it seems like i have not as much of the main entree, despite it adding up calorie wise. I dont think its my meal prep boxes either, they look about the same size.
the last time i took a poll more than 50% of people who answered said that they use frozen or precooked rice. Plus the preparation method and type of rice can lead to different amounts of cooked rice so it's much easier to just use cooked rice most of the time
Whatever you need to do to fit into your calorie target. Chicken is certainly lower calorie but you can still eat beef and lose weight if you maintain a caloric deficit
You work 5 days a week and don't have time to cook which is what the meal prep is for. The last 2 days you are off and have time to cook/eat out /wahtever.
I wanted to get into meal prep with your recipies(especially the chicken fajita one). However the marinate became too stiff and I had to add a lot of oil. Additionally I've read rice shouldn't be stored in a fridge more than two days and it should be put there no later than 2 hours after cooking. Otherwise it becomes toxic. TBH the prep didn't really go as planned and the next day I didn't even feel like eating this meal and I was also afraid about the rice going bad in the fridge so I have thrown everything out. I am not saying it's your fault or anything like it. I am just sharing my experience since I really wanted to get into meal prep but perhaps I am just that bad at cooking.
Look up some official food safety guidelines in your country, so you don't keep tossing food. It definitely helps to have some basic cooking experience before deciding to batch cook anything. You can always freeze your leftovers for a future date when you actually feel like eating what you made. You've got this!
Yeah, I guess so. For me living in Germany, its hard to find ground chicken, so I almost always have to make my own. The only ground chicken they sell here is the one thats about to go bad so they season it a bit and make ground chicken
Thanks dude! Before your youtube channel i was afraid of cooking, but just the amount of money i am saving and how easy are your recipes have made trying meal preping a thing for me. Thanks. I am two weeks into this, and now I am looking forward to cooking. 🫡

I bought one too! Ready to get Snack City up and rolling.
Will try this out today. Already got the Gochujang from one of your older videos. Just need some beef, a carrot and a cabbage.
Just made this, and it was great. Subbed in turkey for beef to shave the calories a bit, and it still turned out awesome.

Really can't wait to try this. Im new to this. Do you just put it in the microwave to reheat? Also how long?
Looks really good, the veggies add nice colours to the dish. Gonna try it out in couple of weeks.

Thank you for sharing!
I'll make it today
I've made this 6 or 7 times now, love it! Would it be OK to add corn flour to make the sauce thicker / bind to the veges?
This is super helpful as a beginner! I plan on making my rice every day, what would the macros be not including rice? Thanks!
Great stuff, love the Asian style...

1.2g heavy which can be accounted for in the next addition
The way you hold your utensils is interesting.
I subbed the rice for Shirataki rice or Shirataki noodles. A 150g is only 5 calories and still gets my wife full.
Amazing 🤩
Top with sesame seeds too
That fork holding though 😂😂
Can you freeze this?
What are the conversions from fresh garlic/ginger to the powdered stuff?
Would be nice if willing had a meal prep set that was just all the same glass meal prep containers

what is a good brand of rice to get at walmart? I just normally buy the cheapest option

can you use gochujang paste instead
Yeah
What is Gochujang? Where does a person find it? My local Asian Market doesnt have it from what I can find?
Look for something that says Red Chili Paste. Usually comes in a smaller square-ish red and white plastic container.
I just made this, its a fuckin banger
are you able to keep it up to 7 days ?
I don’t keep any meals in the fridge past 5 days.
Guys if you are in an extreme calorie deficit use cauliflower rice instead of rice
Half and half works well too if you still want some rice
Don't suppose you have a milder alternative for the Gochujang? Don't handle spice well :D
