Timeline 2's super specific setting of an Earth that's not post-apocalyptic, but just barely surviving in the first place worldwide while still hanging on makes so memorable for me, and my favorite Half-Life mod right after They Hunger. The creator, Ross Smith is still around and even commented on some videos I edited.
@@imgladnotu9527 pretty blood fanbase is similar but instead of the rainbow dash jar you get goblins making pornography of two opposing characters (the brain damage is real)
Timeline 3 having that red sky is probably the most ironic thing ever... Being, that HL2 2001/2002 (forgot which it is) beta has Airexchange... I think it's just a fat coincidence to be frank
Concrete information on Half-life 2, and footage of its beta build, didn't even come out to the public until it was leaked by a German hacker in 2003. Before then there wasn't any information on it other than "a sequel to Half-Life 1 in the works". There's no way the creator of this mod would have been able to reference the beta build of HL2 in this mod before releasing it.
Heh cool you played my suggestion, happy you enjoyed it. The part of Timeline 2 you got stuck in and no clipped with, there is a key card for the door on the table in the room where you microwave the headcrab and debris bounces around the room. The rods in Timeline 3 are the platternite crystal the GMAN says you need when you got trapped in the temporal void, in changing map it seems you skipped a large chunk of the mod. As for the glitch in Timeline 3, I got stuck there as well and realized I'd forgotten to destroy a couple of the crystals in the AD 5 billion ice world you take cold damage in with the large tower.
For reference here's how it is meant to play out. After your temporal stabiliser sabotage fails you get transported to Black Mesa to destroy the time crystal, but the crystal was a fake. The GMAN traps you in a temporal void and the only way to escape is by putting the platternite crystal in the teleporter (jumping into parts of the time vortex also has a few cool set pieces that are inescapable). Escaping the temporal vortex transports you to a different part of Black Mesa, you have to activate that part's time machine and travel back to Black Mesa 3 hours earlier, and destroy the correct crystal. It looks as if you map skipped straight to the 3 hours earlier iteration of Black Mesa and skipped over quite a large chunk of Timeline part 3.
The whole London to weird temple is a reference to the book The Time Machine, written by HG Wells (yes, the same one who wrote war of the worlds). in the book HG wells himself builds a time machine and goes into a future that is very similar to the one encountered in the game.
Also i'm pretty sure the thing in timeline 3 with the icy planet,is earth in 20 billion years (i mean the sun would be a white dwarf),and similar with the lava planet with the sun being a red giant by 5 billion years so the earth would be VERY F--KING HOT so yeah. Atleast i'm pretty sure that, that was intention
The bit in H.G Wells house was also probably a reference to The Time Machine (also by H.G. Wells); the titular machine looks similar to the one you find in 1899 in the game.
The remod version changes the HECU grunts in Timeline 1 into actual N@si soldiers. (I can't say the actual word cause of how the TH-cam algorithm hates certain words.)

8:16 I love how you can see the edges of the Earth texture because this cutscene was designed for a 4:3 screen. Just one of the many funny things that can happen when you're playing an old-ass mod!
7:35 Looks like some mishapen V-1 to me, the V-2s were more visually like ICBMs or other vertical launch rockets while the V-1s were launched from a ramp.
5:51 That is actually the wrong Confederate flag. That flag would've been used by regiments from Virginia on the battlefield, not put up on flag poles. The real CSA flag looks a lot like the Texas state flag.
I mean, I already knew that the Austrian painter would make an appearance from the thumbnail but damn you weren't kidding. This was certainly a wild ride.

The level design in Timeline 2 reminds of Duke Nukem 3D level design. Button-combination passwords, open mapdesign with no indicators, keycards hidden in tiny corners...

7:43 I swear I've seen this V-weapon design somewhere. I came across it when I was deep into my aeronautical engineering phase. Crazy to see it in half life 1 of all places. These are some deep cuts. He does get it wrong, though. The aft tank dosen't seperate until it's halfway to orbit iirc, it seems to stick onto the track in this depiction though.
That time macine bit where time goes by really fast is a refenrece to the H.G. Welles story The Time Machine. Wherein the time traveler sees the passage of time progress super quickly around him, his final destination in the future is the year 802701.
36:36 This whole sequence was a nod to "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome", in which Australia was a post-apocalyptic wasteland and the central city was called Bartertown. 38:48 This section traveling into the future (and also the giant red sun section) are straight out of H.G. 38:45 onward is one giant H.G. Wells reference, iirc the main character of The Time Machine was able to see the Thames Valley changing from outside the pod as he moved through time, up until he would arrive in the year 802,701, where because there was never any resolution to the class divide in contemporary society, humanity has regressed into two divergent species - the childish and naive Eloi on the surface, and the ape-like but more clever Morlocks who tend to the Eloi while surfacing at night to feed upon them for that matter, so is the giant red sun scene earlier in the same mod - the time traveler witnesses the end of the world billions of years into the future, as the sun becomes a red giant, dies out, and the Earth becomes cold and desolate
There are a couple mods of similar design and aesthetics such "Krypton" which has a similar theme of using a singular machine to jump between planets and "Timefall" as well with a heavier emphasis on puzzles. Also worth noting is there was a remod for this that despite having super-high def models ripped from The New Colossus, actually turned the HECU in the first level into a Terror Cell (using models from payday lol) that invaded Black Mesa.
It is unbelievable how much love and effort people put into mods for example hl1 and hl2 and other older games.
