I fully support another adaption. I sort of want it to be animated too. More freedom than live action for sure. More suspension of disbelief. I’m big into the anime fullmetal alchemist and there’s two adaptions. Both are amazing, but both are very much needed to reallyyyyy do the franchise justice. Andrea and Jesus deserve justice bro. I love a lot of what the show did with certain characters but there’s so much good writing in the comics just thrown away. Dale and Andrea 🥲 rick and Andrea. CARL.
Such a shame. I’m glad I read the comics before I caught up in the show all these years later. I’d rather have disappointment in the show then not experiencing how awesome he is fully in the comics firsthand
I wanted him and Aaron to get the final beta fight. Like I would’ve accepted him dying if he went out fighting beta and Aaron avenging him. Could’ve killed someone else to start the arc 😭
Agree that Paul Rovia's character was wasted. I loved how his character was introduced on the TV show and he became on of my favorites. Glad Tom Payne went on to do Prodigal Son, but sad that was canceled. He's a good actor. Also agree with wasted potential of Carl and Morgan. Only hope I have is Morgan reuniting with Rick in one of the spinoffs.
I thought with Maggie leaving it would be the perfect opportunity for Jesus to shine as the new leader of Hilltop who’s a badass. An appropriate death would of been at the very end of the Whisperer arc and he should have been killed by Beta himself. Nobody else is worthy of killing such a badass character. He would have been good in the Reaper arc, especially against Carver, but him going out saving the communities and going full ninja on all the walkers and whisperers would be a good ending for him. He didn’t do anything in the Commonwealth arc anyways. I understand them not making him go ninja on Saviours since that would be quite unrealistic in a gunfight but the Whisperers would’ve been the perfect group to showcase his skills in full effect. Aaron saving him in the comics but not being able to save him in the show would be a good nod too.
woah, i thought Tom Payne left the show because he had to be on prodigal son, i didn't realize there was more to this! Poor Jesus, he would've been so badass if the writers used the comics a lot more
Hey man love your videos! I started watching you back when you were doing a lot of better call Saul content but it’s great to see someone with almost exactly the same opinions as myself! most people who watch The Walking Dead are “shills” as much as I hate that word. But I can tell you are a true Fan as you always have the best opinions on TWD, Love the videos where you critique the show it cause it’s obvious you love it But it definitely fell off after a certain point.
Bro Jesus dying was stupid him and Arron in seasons 9 10 11 would be amazing imagine how badass Jesus would be in season 9 with the whispers 10 in the whisper war and reaper arc and commonwealth arc in season 11
i want to see a video about the wasted potential of alpha. I feel as this would be a good topic to talk about as a long time walking dead fan i was upset by the way they portrayed Alpha, would really like to hear your thoughts and opinions!
Disappointing fact for those who don’t mind spoilers: In the comics, Jesus and Aaron kill Beta together, effectively ending the war. In the show, Jesus is killed by the first whisperer the group ever directly encounters. What an ironic slap in the face.
I never read the comic so my affinity for the character was purely based on what I saw of him in the show. His introduction, I'd have to say, was probably one of the best, if not, the best introductions of a main character in the series. He was instantly likeable, not just because of his skills as a fighter but also his genuine charisma. He should've been a lead character. He had the perfect skill set for performing espionage, infiltration, intelligence gathering and even target elimination (assassinations) though given his peaceful good nature, he would've found the last part difficult but even that they could've woven that into a character arc. He could've struggled with the idea of assassination missions but ultimately did what was necessary to protect his home and the people he cared for. I was annoyed they virtually did nothing with him and was pissed that he got killed off in the most bullshit way possible; completely unceremonious. I stopped watching after season 10 and I have no interest in the spinoffs. I don't think modern day writers and showrunners know how to craft a story or develop compelling characters. Writing is a lost art form in Hollywood right now so I've been looking to the past to find it. I'm just glad I'm not the only that thought Jesus' utilization was dog shit.
I thought Jesus’ story would continue, like it did in the comics. Unfortunately they didn’t do much with his character, he was a little bit sidelined, so I can understand that Tom was disappointed and decided to leave.
Wow, didn't know about the behind the scenes with Tom Payne wanting out, it sucks cause I loved him as Heyzeus. But yeah, another example of the show runners dropping the sack of gold into the abyss.
The garbage people introduction in the episode where they kidnap Gabriel was very similar (not identical) to the comic jesus introduction where we see someone spying on alexandria through binoculars.
Jesus death was when I really lost interest in the series. They had lost a lot of the main and best characters but still had Jesus who had a lot of potential only to kill him off after doing barely anything with him. Such a waste at a time they needed to utilize the good characters they had left. He had a good entrance and good exit episode but in between he was barely noticable.
I was such a big fan of the show and of the character in the tv show at first, i thought at first they did a great job but as the seasons went on he was totally wasted and underused 🙄 i felt so bad for Tom because i feel like he was great casting choice but he got wasted 😵💫 when i saw the cool things Jesus did in the comics i was so excited cause i wanted to see that on-screen and did we get it 🙄 nope ☹ totally wasted 😶
IMO, Jesus’s death completely furthered the show. I loved how his death introduced the whisperers and I’m glad he didn’t get any other death on the show. He definitely had weak potential though and I honestly think the amount of time jumps the show has done ruined a couple characters because of writing
I think they wanted to “subvert expectations” with the way they killed Jesus. The only annoying thing to me is it doesn’t do the character justice. I would have liked to see him die in a more important way vs negan or the whisperers. Instead the writers set him up to look like a new leader and give him badass sword skills only to make him die in an unceremonious way.
They killed Jesus off because Tom Payne wanted to leave so I think that’s why they killed him at that point but still, Gimple did not do him justice in Seasons 6-8
You should have seen Twitter when people got mad that beta didn't get his comic book death and they wanted Aaron to avenge Jesus lol. But I feel like there should be a reboot/new series but animated to emulate the comic book art style and they don't have to worry about actors. But yeah honestly AMC Jesus is just a downgrade of his comic book self.
Jesus was a great character in the comics for sure. I was sad to see Tom go but after finding out why he left I understand. Best of luck to him.
Agreed here!
you know its bad when the video game does Jesus better 😭😭 with way less screentime

Firmly agree here.
He is animated in The Walking Dead: A New Frontier and he’s badass but it’s a game.
Rick is good wym?
Such a shame. I’m glad I read the comics before I caught up in the show all these years later. I’d rather have disappointment in the show then not experiencing how awesome he is fully in the comics firsthand

That’s very true. Very good point here! I too am glad that I got to see how the comics panda help before seeing his death on screen

Can you do one of these videos on Tyrese? His entire death episode was filler!
That’s a great idea!
After Jesus death I want more from him I loved his death but I thought they could of done more with him before his death.

Yeah, it’s pretty nuts!
Been waiting for a video on this. Thank you!

They should have killed Beta and Alpha in the same episode instead of having Negan kill her for Carol.

He was supposed to fight Beta.... that would have been so bad ass
Wow, didn't know about the behind the scenes with Tom Payne wanting out, it sucks cause I loved him as Heyzeus. But yeah, another example of the show runners dropping the sack of gold into the abyss.
I think another reason is that the show had characters that do not exist in the comics and it had too many of them.
The garbage people introduction in the episode where they kidnap Gabriel was very similar (not identical) to the comic jesus introduction where we see someone spying on alexandria through binoculars.

You should definitely do a playthrough of Telltale The Walking Dead
Another great video :P
Why thank you
They ruined the potential of almost everyone in the show
Nah

Amazing breakdown! Finally someone is giving Jesus his flowers! I was so disappointed at how he just got X’d off the show. I loved Jesus

Jesus was my favorite character
I think a better word for hill top settler is Hill Topping

Jesus was/is my favorite TWD character, so I didn’t want him to go, but that’s just me being selfish.
All he pretty much did in the show was kiss Maggie's ass so much. He was her yes man. Jesus is way better in the comics
I like show jessus, but he really was underused
Well yea at some point the ninja fighter thing gets stale
Why don’t you talk about the Jesus in the game

jesus really deserved better
I never read the comics but I used to watch the show and I hated this character from day one
True
2:18, before he actually gets started with the video... Talk about a Waste.
Thanks! People should also point if they waste time doing a sponsor shout out in the MIDDLE of the topic/video which is also annoying
Bro you spent literally almost 3 minutes talking about the jesus difference god i cant do it bad content like get to the point jesus no pun intended
