I haven't watched this video yet but I wanted to second the title. I am about 40 hours into Metaphor - playing it very slowly and thoroughly due to my love for it, but also I have a job where I don't have a ton of free time except on the weekend - and only in Martira, I actually only just beat the well dungeon yesterday, but this game is so special. I can't really articulate how except to say that it has all the usual Atlus polish and strong systems that really work together and have you thinking about the game like all the time even when you're not playing it, but it also has that extra something special with the world and story here. I appreciate Persona and SMT (though I've played very little SMT), but other than like Akechi Brainrot the games just don't stick with me aside from general appreciation for how well crafted they are. this one WILL stick with me. also yes I'm one of those people who think Persona 5 has too much dissonance between the story that's actually being told and the one that it wants to tell. Metaphor is not like that (though again, I'm very early), and I think it's already an all-timer. it's just got the juice. again not super far into it and actually trying not to spoil myself on the story but one I guess "problem" I do have - not really an actual problem - is that I'm not sure how they could make this a series. maybe just go totally alternate universe with every installment and have a different person's journey to become king? idk. it definitely has the quality to be a new pillar for Atlus but I don't know how they could take it.
@@slam-zany yup I think that's what I keep coming back to. I had insanely high expectations for this pretty much from the reveal trailer, and maybe even more so after I found out about the extremely long history of this project. it's exceeded them for sure
Awesome video! I think I agree with many of your points and find that I enjoy Persona just a little more. I like the modern setting and the music, but this is really close up there. The job/class system is better here and outdoes anything Atlus has done in this regard.
Took me 105 hours to finish. Got a bit burned out near the end...as is the usual for me with long games. But even then I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the best and greatest games Ive played. A masterpiece if you will. Its just so well put together with an insane degree of consistency, especially in its characters, worldbuilding, music and combat.

I had high expectations and it somehow still managed to exceed them. Love the game!

Wow! Great job on the script with this one. Super well thought out. I agree this is definitely a new pillar for Atlus. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

Awesome video! I'm 50 hours in and I'm loving it!! 👌🏽😀
Great discussion! I'm glad you're loving the game, and I'm totally hoping for that Switch 2 port. I know I mention that a lot to people, haha.
Haha yea the switch 2 is something I can’t wait to finally hear about.
I completed this game around 115 hours and i can say that this is the best game Atlus ever produced yet.
I think you might be right!

Was playing and enjoying it. NMS just had to drop a time event…. and I’m begrudgingly tackling that while wanting to continue Metaphor. 🤨
Yea I’ve got so many games I want to play right now but it’s hard to pull myself away from Metaphor.
Metaphor is my favorite Atlus game period. This outdoes any SMT games and hangs with the best of what Persona has to offer.
