- 2023 has been a crazy and wonderful year especially for honkai star rail and in its story we travelled to 3 different locations. Each of them had an interesting story arch and in this video, I wanted to wrap up the top 5 honkai star rail lore reveals that we got in 2023
This list is in no particular order and is just my own opinions which as you might have guessed is tinged with my personal biases. There were a lot of lore moments and reveals in honkai star rail and all of them have their own merits so dont take this list as the end all be all of the story.

Personally the Luocha reveal was so crazy to me.
You get lulled into thinking that you're overthinking it in his companion mission, further lulled by the 1.3 trailblaze mission being seemingly only about Tingyun, then boom! The cutscene at the shackling prison happens
You can't trust Otto face, don't be fooled
I've always felt luocha was super suspicious but there were times that I admittedly just went, nah he seems like a good guy. Im really curious how that story thread will continue though since were going to penacony its doubtful itll be anytime soon
Genshin fan? Anyone who looks like Otto is bound to be evil.
@@asahinamfy the thing with luocha is, to me personally, i had been hoping that they would finally make an otto variant that shows otto is not doomed to be evil no matter what. as star rail is an alternative universe, i wouldve loved to see a "nature vs nurture" interpretation of ottos character wherein he is not always meant to be evil; given the right circumstances, hes capable of good, and capable of evil. i wouldve found the contrast in storytelling to be particularly interesting, especially the parallels. as of now, luocha isnt necessarily outright evil, at least not if we compare to otto.
unfortunately we know very little about luocha and luochas motivations at the moment, but it seems to me the classification of "morally gray" is the most accurate for the time being.
id like to see what pushed star rails luocha to pursue revival like hi3s otto did. oh, and another thing: otto truly regretted his actions in the end, but was too far gone to ever make a meaningful change, which is why i had hoped theyd allow otto to have a "reset", a chance at starting over, via luocha. but it seems theyre going down the same path. i hope its executed well, because if theyre too similar itll just be boring and repetitive in my humble opinion. i would prefer parallels and inspiration rather than 1:1 copypastes.
My favorite was jingliu and lucoha seemingly working together to kill an aeon
Im looking forward to seeing what exactly their plan is but I fear its not something we'll get back to soon since the next big story will be penacony. But who knows maybe theyre related 🤔
in the new web event the tarot trading card, kafka's card has the cat. oh and happy new year!

Anyone telling you that Tingyun was "obvious" in a derisive way is just a leak follower who was butthurt that they didn't get to experience the reveal.
The only thing you actually get for most of the story is that she's sus af; all the hints at what and why are in the scenes directly leading up to the reveal ans are meant to increase unease and dread.

I didn't even feel suspicious of her thoufh😅😅😅
The only thing i picked up was her weird insistance or interest in the abundance when she was following us around but I kinda brushed it off as nothing
About the cat, I have 3 speculations about the cat, the obvious one is that the cat could be elio, but there is also that the cat could be just elio's proxy as a way of communicating with the other Stellaron hunters, or the cat is actually the MC when they were still with the stellaron hunters. The latter two seem to have stronger foundation especially with delving into leaked territory, but one thing I could say about the last one is that the cat's eyes match the MC's, and on those cake cats from the current event, the one that resembles the MC is a black cat in a trash can. The reason why the cake cat would be black maybe related on how the MC wears a black coat and black bottoms, but I feel like there should be some gray mixed in too because their gray hair stand out from the black clothing.
I lean more towards the cat being Elio's proxy but I definitely like the idea that the cat might be the MC we didnt choose rather than the MC themselves. It just keeps appearing, that cant be a coincidence 😁
The thing about mihoyo stories is that whatever's foreshadowed will be relevant.
Back in honkai impact, the 2 biggest running theories foreshadowed by mihoyo came true, and every odd detail in star rail so far has had significance (sampo, tingyun, etc.), so the cat is definitely a big player, and it being elio himself has a much higher chance of being true than it sounds (that said, they also haven't made a single playable nonhuman, so the playable elio, if he exists, won't be a cat).
Also, HSR devs are a huge fan of kiseki, which also uses the trope of a black cat talking and later transforming into a human. This would explain why in Kafka's story that it's necessary for someone to throw a ball near her so he can talk to her as opposed to just talking to her normally. He pretends to be a cat, before then surprising her.
Right now im leaning towards the idea that the cat is some form of medium or familiar for Elio and not him in the flesh. Id also love some alternative thing where the cat is some ancient eldritch void creature from space (like a leviathan or something) inhabiting the body of a cat just because 😂
why nobody talks about the fact that one of the genius society members killed like half the society and that was revealed in a BOOK

I wanted to include Polka Kakamond and her murderous adventures but I felt we havent really heard the whole story yet at the time I made this video so chose to exclude it for the moment
I really enjoyed March's "detective" deductions (startaro bubble) 😊
The icing on the cake is if they gave her those moustache spectacles paimon was wearing during the fontaine court cases 😂
I indeed don' think "black cat existing" is reveal that deserve to be mentioned in top 5. When its confirmed, that it's Elio then sure (and I do think it will), but honestly Baiu being Baiheng and how it tie to Blade, Dan Heng and rest of High Cloud Quinted shoud be winner.
The black cat one is mostly a running joke I have on the channel as everything I do a video on the stellaron hunters or something I end up mentioning it just for fun 😁. In all honesty theres probably a bunch more lore reveals I couldve have included even as a honorable mention since there were so many epic ones as some commentors have mentioned
You forgot to mention the truth and origin of Marsh and what we discovered during her mission
I thought of including it but we didnt really learn all the details in its entirety and I have this feeling way more will be revealed in the future so very likely will (hopefully) be a huge reveal in 2024 if they decide to expand on it like how they did with Dan Heng 😁

Definitely a cool scene though i was a little disappointed with how everyone reacted to his 'true form', still a great cutscene though
I love that you brought up the Sampo scene. That scene shocked me so much when it happened and funnily enough your video on that scene was also your first video I ever saw and now you're one of my favorite lore channels. Also at this point I'm convinced the black cat we always see with Kafka is Elio. That cat is almost always there with her in so many arts.

That scene was honestly what made me really love star rail, I mean it occured right after the cocolia boss fight with wildfire playing in the background which was epic but sampo reveal was just so surprising for him. Up till that point I thought the story was gonna be a straightforward, heres the obvious bad guy defeat them then on to the next planet, but having this larger story happen in the background is great. Makes the world feel bigger than we might initially feel 😁
bro did top 5 lore reveals in hsr without mentioning anything from SU Swarm disaster and Gold and gears 💀

Thats only because, I've only finished one of them 😂.. So think of it as a personal list, plus id probably cover SU lore on its own.. eventually 😂

Two Lore Reveals I’m looking forward to are Kafka’s Cat, and Pom-Pom. (Well, I’m looking forward to many more lore reveals, but I currently want to talk about these two)
Kafka Cat: I want to approach this theory in a different light. We always see this cat around Kafka, not the other Stellaron Hunters. I’ve come to Two Potential Theories;
1) the Cat is the MC’s Sibling. (We know nothing about the MC, except that a gender counterpart does exist. A rather weak theory that could very easily be a miss, but a rather fun theory nonetheless!)
2.) Kafka’s Home Planet, Pteruges-V, was affected by a Stellaron, and one of its causes was for everyone to not feel fear. A Stellaron can respond to someone’s wish, so it’s plausible that someone wished for everyone to not feel fear. A Black Cat is a symbol of unluckiness, and can be feared for it, is it possible that Kafka’s Cat wished on the Stellaron?
Pom-Pom; I’m currently theorizing that he is an Emanator of Trailblaze. There’s so many oddities about them, he cannot leave the Train, and this is immediately acknowledged by everyone, as if it’s common knowledge. No one knows when he appeared … if you click on Pom-Pom in the Map>Parlor Car, this is what it says! … so this also includes Himeko, the one who repaired the Train!
The only time he appears outside of the Train is during Warps (summoning Warps).
When Yanqing is in the Parlor Car, and talks about Pom-Pom, he says that Pom-Pom feels like a strong individual! (I don’t remember the exact lines). And when talking about Dan Heng: The Spear, Pom-Pom says “Pom-Pom had dealt with all kinds of different passengers!” And while we do indeed have quite a number of passengers, Pom-Pom could be referencing even more than we know of, such as passengers during Akivili’s Travels!
Also, Pom-Pom was able to feel the presence of a Memokeeper on board! I don’t remember if anyone else felt the same, or if it was just Pom-Pom?
I also researched a bit into his name, and there’s a slight chance that his name is connected to Asters … a flower that means Stars, and represents Celestial Beings and a bridge between our world and the stars. And I’ve also heard that the French used Aster Flowers on the grave of fallen soldiers as a symbol of afterthought, and a wish that things turned out differently.
… yeah, I really can’t wait until we are finally revealed to Pom-Pom’s full identity.

Pom-pom is definitely something that seems kinda sus since nobody seems to really question why its theres or even where it came from its like you mentioned just an accepted thing. Its been around before welt came onto the express and himeko says pom pom appeared the minute the train was fixed. Surprisingly I've not made a video about it but maybe I should give it more thought, but pompom being akivili seems kinda too obvious (not discounting it though) and I lean more towards it being the spirit of the astral express.
If youre familiar with one piece I kinda think pompom could be a klabautermann or something similar which is a spirit or incarnation of a ship that develops sentience due to the care and love the crew has for said ship. Either way I dont think its something wed get an answer for anytime soon but still fun to think about
@@Maevix3142 if the cat turns out to be the “Sibling” we didn’t choose, I’d wonder what their destiny is, or if it’s somehow the same as ours, just being accomplished in a slightly different fashion.
Pom-Pom being the sentience of the Astral Express is an interesting thought, I was going for an Emanator, but being the Train itself actually makes a bit more sense, especially with how he is mysteriously unable to leave its premise at all.
Plus … I haven’t really looked this closely into it, but when the train begins to Warp Travel somewhere, Pom-Pom isn’t anywhere to be seen?
Also, there’s a chance we’ll be surprised with Pom-Pom lore at one point, since if he is the consciousness of the Train … wouldn’t a Nameless that traveled on the Train before it fell (and before Akivili fell) be able to possibly recognize Pom-Pom?
Once again, we’ll just have to wait and see what Hoyoverse does. In the meantime, I’ll be on the lookout for more suspicious Pom-Pom details
To this day i think that the black cat is Elio himself. I remember seeing a picture of a document with a cat paw mark on it and this is the main reason i think so.
Either its elio or its an avatar or something hes using to keep in touch (and oversee) the stellaron hunters. Either way, I cant wait for black cat to be summonable 😂
For my top 5 I would have ting, Kafka talk, March companion mission, Dr ratio interfere with inferno plan and his reasoning, jinglui and loacha going to be judged possible future fight against yaoishi
Kafka talk definitely was a huge lore dump especially since I personally didnt think wed even capture Kafka in the first place let alone have her spill all this info
Theyre going to start doing the color + animal more, like silver wolf and black swan. So that cat might be black cat but probably not its too generic and black is already taken.

Sometimes I think it's their leader or a member who is very important. Overall I don't think that's a normal cat not in the slightest lmao. The cat is not a secret member of the Stellaron Hunters, it's not Elio either (since Elio is a child or child looking man? I don't what category fits him [it's anime stuff anything works]), that cat is likely a medium/familiar that Elio uses to follow the other members on their missions without exposiong himself too much.
A familiar does sound plausible, something elio is using to oversee and communicate with the hunters. At this point id settle for any involvement for this cat 😂
pompom is an aeon, the power that can summon 5 star characters and lost a 50/50 battle is the hardest fight everyone can have.

With sampo being a follower of aha he is definitely someone to be leery of. Aha did previously betray the nameless and blow up the express
You know the funny thing is, they seem to really like blowing stuff up. Aha blew up the astral express, there was a quest in the xianzhou luofu where you found a bomb heavily implied to be placed there by sampo (though it was a fake bomb) and now sparkle has given aventurine a big red button. It seems to be a theme at this point 😂
My theory is that the cat is no more that a way for Elio to see everything without being there in person.
I think Kafka just like the black cat or maybe it can just talk and Kafka likes it ether way it’s definitely Kafka cat

what i don't get is, if sampo turns out to be an emanator of the elation, why would he be following the path of nihility ? i know the elation isn't relevant gameplay-wise, but that wouldn't make much sense for him to be playable then
It seems that the gameplay paths which function as more of a class based system (preservation = tank, nihility = dot/debuffer, etc.) is seperate from the lore path each character might follow. Theres quite a few times where that happens like with jing yuan and fu xuan where their affiliations differ from their class archetype. I made video discussing that subject and there were a few interesting ideas in the comments if youre curious 😁
