I just got two 7 week old foster puppies and I am using the hand feeding technique and by day 2 they were already sitting on command followed by food. I also release the food only when they sit and lick my hand. In the house, you've become part of our fostering journey...there is a lot of "well.. Rachel said...." lol

I got my goldendoodle yesterday and he loves his crate, feeding time, and has only had one accident in the house ( I think 🤔 🤣 couldn't really tell what it was on the carpet could have been drool) lol 🤣 he sits in front of me waiting for me to give him direction so eager to learn. This has helped so much.. my new little baby cries so bad in his crate at night but when I moved the crate in my room he settles down within about 5 minutes of getting in for the night.. so far, about 4 hours after bedtime I get up to bring him to potty and we haven't had any accidents and he actually is loving his bed and will go in there during the day to take his nap... your videos have been more helpful than any other videos I've watched we have had amazing results so far and I feel like im understanding him better than I've ever understood any pet 🤗

I have absolutely done everything wrong on the first day :,) I was about to start training him the basic sit command, his name, and some potty training. But he absolutely refuses to stay in his crate without whining and crying. I'm probably not going to get sleep the first night, but hopefully these 2 videos will help me correct and replan a routine so that I can sleep and have him start on the path to be an amazing dog

I am getting a Yorkie-poo soon at 8 wks. I will be using pee pads along with taking her out as I’m 84 and not as agile as a younger momma.

We plan to switch the dog to just a bed once she’s old enough. We ended up not bothering with the Crete when we got our previous dog at 6 months old (she was toilet trained by then)
Any tips on confidence building exercises for dogs at home? Anything would be helpful 😊... @Rachel Fusaro you mentioned that some of your older foster dogs tried to chew the blanket over the crate.. I have found putting a cartboard that is slightly larger than the crate on the crate then putting the blanket on top helps! Thanks 😊
Great idea! Thank you for sharing (and fir being here) 🙏 Confidence often comes from working with your pup on basic cues, obedience, socializing and brain games. The more your pup successfully completes these activities the more confidence they can build! It takes practice and a lot of reps. Sort of like riding a bike 🚲
Hi, I love the concept of hand feeding pups food but when is a good time to stop or is this something we should do forever?
Watching your videos is great. Our dog who passed away at 14 recently was with us since 6 months old so our new dog will be 8 weeks old. That’s the youngest we’ve had a dog. All your tips are super helpful.
I’m having stocker shock at the Canadian prices of the healthy natural treats. I’m thinking would it be good to make home made ?
• Could you perhaps gives some tips as to how to help your puppy have the least stressful ride home in the car when you're picking them up 4 hours away. Should they only be in a crate or can they be in your lap for comfort? (with someone else driving, of course!)
• How do you know your pup has been crate trained well enough that they can start sleeping in your bed without negative repercussions?

Great questions!! It’s always safest for the pup to be in a crate in a car. I know that’s not always feasible, but you could sit in back with them if that helps!

One piece of advice I've heard for a young puppy spending his or her first time with you is to give the puppy a hot water bottle and a ticking clock. This will remind the puppy of sleeping with warm littermates and hearing the mother's heartbeat and make the puppy more comfortable and so shorten the period of whining and crying.
Do you have a crate you’d recommend for a large or giant breed dog? I looked at the linked one but they only have small and medium available. Great videos btw. I’m binge watching (I have a couple months before our puppy comes home 😊)

My question is, if we have the puppy in the bedroom for the first week or so, should we have puppy pads/grass pads in our bedroom too? I’m just concerned if he/she needs to wee, it’s quite a walk to the grass area outside, so I’m worried we won’t make it! Thank you.

Hi Rachel, Thank you for your channel it has been such a big help. I've also tried the feeding from my hand while teaching him to sit/down and touch which works wonders but now my Milo refuses to eat from his bowl on his own unless I feed him from my hand while teaching tricks. I can be in the other room but he won't eat the food, I've even tried encouraging him. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong? 🙂
Rachel, my labradoodle always ran hot. He would whine to go
outside when it was snowing and 17degrees. He would sleep outside in the weather. I felt like a terrible dog mom.

I got two dogs, one was from my sister's (she's 3 years old) and one from my grandmother's (he's 10 years old), I wanted to ask if the puppy videos also apply to my adult dogs?, I would love to train them and for them to have a happy life, so, if you could do videos specifically about adult dogs with zero training would be great!!!!

I have been watching your videos for sometime now and I always wonder how I should "introduce" the crate in the best way possible to make the night go as "smooth" as It could? English isn't my first language so I don't really know if I can explain what I mean, but I think I want a more "detailed" explanation on the first night so I can understand it a little better :) I hope you're having a good day!

I got my puppy three weeks ago. The woman I got her from crate trained her at night and she’s a dream. We’re working on the biting and potty. I stress about going back to work in September 😔. I’m trying to find someone to come in once a day. I don’t like the idea of potentially having a different person come in everyday if I use one of those dog walking apps.

Hi, I'm due to have a new puppy on Monday, our first. So just trying to get as many tips as possible, this is the 2nd video I've seen on bringing a puppy home / 1st night etc. But I'm a little torn & confused as the other video I've seen (Dog Behaviourist) seems to suggest putting the crate in your bedroom / your presence is creating a rod gor your own back. So a conflict of opinion & technique, but which method do I go with?
Do you ever have troubles feeding from a bowl after feeding by hand for so long?
We have a puppy arriving Monday from interstate (Australia) and so will be crate training him with the crate he flew in. Will there be any problems that the puppy might have negative associations with the crate from flying and if so how do we combat that? The flight arrives mid day so we have plenty of time to try and get him used to it before bed time the first night
Hi! I'm late to this video but I get my pup in four days, we fly home at 11:00 pm! So there won't be much time for proper crate training per say before the first night. Is it okay to pop her into the crate and have it next to my bed/let her cuddle my hand the first couple nights even though i havent had time to build a positive association/have her going in by herself?

Hi!! We used a medium for Wally - but if your dog will be much larger than ~40LBs than the medium may be too small 😔 I think they plan to make a larger one soon!!
