As previously said, I was born in 1962 in England. My Dad was a 6' ex WW2 soldier. He was a very kind & loving dad, but you knew when you'd over stepped the mark by the look on his face. He only hit me once when I swore at my mum. He never had to hit me again. Just a look was enough. When Kids realise that they can do anything they like without any negative consequences & threaten to call the police even if the parents shout at them they turn out to be the little shits that we have running around like gangsters. My Parents were amazing & I thank them for the discipline and good behaviour they taught me.
On a different note, Mom was the wielder of the slipper and the wooden spoon. If Dad ever felt the need to get involved, which I can count the times on one hand, we knew our miserable souls had been forsaken. My brother cried for two hours waiting for Dad to get home from work one time after hearing the dreaded phrase, "I'm letting your father handle this."
In my case, my mom hardly took a role. All my dad needed was an open hand, and only a few times before dumb kid me got the message. Just look at kids and even young adults now. It shouldn't be a hot take that corporal punishment needs a comeback!
YAY, more comedy, and even better than that, more of Maddy's smiles and laughter!! I was raised in the 60s and 70s and most definitely had by behind tore up. Not just at home, it happened at school too. It's was consequences for bad behavior, not abuse. I believe it taught me respect and responsibility for my actions. I hope everyone has a great weekend!! Laughter is great medicine! ✌️☮️🤙🤟😂❤️
Taught by nuns. They would hit us for no reason to keep us on our toes. I grew up realizing that if I talked trash I would get hit. New gen has no idea.
My mom whooped me and my sisters when needed. She learned from her mom that wooden spoons across the booty would break, so my mom used metal spatulas for us. 😅
Had to pick my "switch" more than once as a kid. My grandmother was brutal, heh. Mum broke a wooden spoon on my and dad split a cutting board on my butt. My brother and I were laughing so hard he lost it, lol.
What makes Burr so great is there is so much truth in what he is saying. It's his delivery that makes him so funny. May I suggest another comedian? His name is Ian Bagg? I have recently got into his comedy and his crowd work is absolutely brilliant.
13:15 first time i hear another person say they like doing the dishes. i swear, people think i'm mental whenever i tell them i like doing the dishes :D
My mom whooped me and my sister's ass with a wooden spoon as children of the 70s-80s. Sometimes the wooden spoon would break because she was so mad. We both grew up okay. My sister and I would cause all kinds of trouble as kids; theft, vandalism, setting fires, etc... We earned our whoopings. Kids today don't get a big wooden spoon broken over their asses and it shows.
I don't know how people can watch these videos and pay attention to the clip instead of looking at Maddy the entire time lmao. On a real tho, you're beautiful.
I'm 71 and Yes Dad threatened to,but Mom was the one who chased us down and whipped our butt. Truth! I had the Best parents I could have had! Love your reactions Maddy!
Three times. Once because I wouldn't rat out my brothers. Once in school because i didn't finish a math assignment. And once because i was out of control complaining about a new house we had recently moved into. My father slapped my face.
My dad used to build tires for the space shuttle. He designed a paddle to use on us when we got out of line. That thing would conform to your curves so easily. Damn I hated that paddle. lol. Like your videos as always.
as a young child, butt slapped by hand, later hand hurt, middle school, slapped with a stick, later stick broke, at some point it switched to belt, then it finished once I figured it all out lol
I am a Child of the 70's and my mother and grandmother not only wopped me but they made me pick out the switch. for you kids that think that's a game concede it is a stick that bends but HURTS when it hits you.
Love Bill, being from Brooklyn NY it seems like NY'ers and Bostonians just cut all the shit out and tell it straight. Also, Maddy you are just gorgeous.
1:20 We called them "club furniture." There were exceptions for legends, but you didn't want to be the person who kept going to a dance club and just hung out at the bar or stood next to the dance floor bobbing your head.
I had corporal punishment in school. Up until 6th grade, teachers could give swats. Glenn Close. The movie Fatal Attraction, she cooks Michael Douglas' rabbit. 😬
80s kid here I had more whoppings than I can remember and I'm thankful as it made me a better person. Not saying I wouldn't do something stupid but I always thought twice about what could happen if I got caught lol
such weak minds and inability to see the bigger, longer term picture think a country is lost because of a temporary social phenomena even as society is slowly but surely correcting
F is for Family I just started watching it and it's funny af. He put it where his mother was going for the business world. So he gave msg for women and didn't down play his wife.
We were on the fringe area of catching a beating and straight up verbal/physical abuse BUT we were also outdoor children. We found ways to keep away from those parents.
Not only did I get whooping from my parents, we had new neighbors that offered to whoop me if they saw me get out of line. I got my ass wore out in junior high with something resembling a cricket bat on 2 occasions my grandpa whooped my ass with a willow switch. People in church would have had permission from my parents too whoop my ass and a few of them wanted to, I could tell. The 70s were great,
I did the belt dance as a child, whether I was at fault or my brothers and sisters. It didn't matter who was at fault, we all did the belt dance. My father was an equal opportunity discipline enforcer. If my brother or sister messed up, I'm in the living room watching TV, next thing I know I'm dancing across the floor dodging belt swings because they messed up! Of course, my sisters seldom got the dance, but sometimes my 3 sisters did waltz as well. Fun times as a child learning to be wary of my father at all times. What a childhood it was! (4 sisters and 3 brothers in the family). Now it would be considered child abuse, but in the 60's it was just another normal day.
My dad never hit me my entire life, but I was terrified of him, and I knew, if he ever DID hit me, he'd end me. Bill's right, it's the threat that makes you mind your Ps and Qs.
I watched my mom and step pick out a paddle at a craft shop and my pops would bring us outside to pick the switch (branch) off the tree. Most of the time it was the fake crack of a belt...but not always. Still glad for all of it
I'm 50, parents born in 1945, my mom in fact washed my mouth out with bar soap and my dad, only once, soaked me with a belt. Aside from that they never really did corporal punishment.. I think they realized what they did.
Thanks! ❤❤

The MAIN reason why I’m a fan of Bill Burr. His rants are iconic 😂 pls react to more!
😂
You gotta watch the philly rant.
When Bill gives that little satisfied chuckle you know he's on a roll. And man, NO ONE makes Conan laugh like Bill does. The best!
Right?!
For folks like Conan, there is an added layer of enjoyability, I think. Since they're both Massholes. Massholes of Irish descent, at that.
Timothy Olyphant gets Conan pretty good too

Lol my mom's go to was the wooden spoon, I have ptsd everytime I hear a silverware drawer open too fast (I totally deserved it)
In my case, my mom hardly took a role. All my dad needed was an open hand, and only a few times before dumb kid me got the message. Just look at kids and even young adults now. It shouldn't be a hot take that corporal punishment needs a comeback!
True story: Mom smacked me with the wooden spoon. It broke. I then got in trouble for breaking her spoon.
Moms ruled by actions, dads ruled by fear of those actions. These were the rules in the 70s.
@@ThorWildBoar NO WAY! Same thing happened to me 😄
The most genuine laugh you will ever see Conan do is with Bill when he describes Oprah’s reaction to Lance Armstrong. Classic
Oooooohhhh
The absolute BEST
Bill Burr is legit one of Conan's fav people of all time. Listen to their episodes together on Conan's podcast. Amazing!
There is so much good chemistry between Bill and Conan. Love watching the two of them…
Agreed!!

Grew up in 70's also, definitely got my share of whoopings. Bill Burr is great

😂
You have such a bright sence of humor, it's refreshing to see a ldy enjoy crude comedy in a genuine way.😁

Bill Burr gets the best reactions out of Conan. It has been amazing over the years.
I definitely got my ass whipped, paddled at school and made to eat supper for breakfast 😂
I just love watching Maddy smile. What a lovely, naturally beautiful, young lady. She’s such sweet soul too. Good luck in the future.

You were cracking almost as much as Conan 😂

Thx for the top. Gives me something else to look at
It happened once or twice as a kid but it never really hurt, my ass was sturdy...lol
His short rant here is better most standup’s entire set
My dad had a reversible belt. One side was black, the other side was a whip.
I don't know how people can watch these videos and pay attention to the clip instead of looking at Maddy the entire time lmao.

The great Bill Burr , he can say what a lot of people are thinking but do it without hurting anyone, puts that red headed spin on it.
So true!
It really breaks my heart when he says due process and everyone is just silent. We are such a lost country.
The majority of our society is very stupid and malleable unfortunately.
Yeah, social media is a disease.
such weak minds and inability to see the bigger, longer term picture think a country is lost because of a temporary social phenomena even as society is slowly but surely correcting
In Mainstream music there’s no guitar solos. But if you listen to like Metal or something, tons of them.
