Stalking someone for seven years, waiting until they're alone in the middle of the night, beat them to death then clean up the crime scene & hide the body ,sounds a bit premeditated to me.
Same thing I thought, there is a part towards the end where they say police thinks he had been watching her for some time, sounds like they should've pushed for first degree murder....
Honestly though he seems like coward I think he was too scared to lie in wait. Having been in law enforcement there’s usually a small ounce of truth to every confession. I think she caught him peeping from the fence and she probably even said “fck off”. I don’t think he could risk her reporting it so as she went to walk back back to her house he attacked her from behind.
There would literally be NO reason to call him a loser or to F off if all he was doing was standing near the gate on his own property.

@@williamrogers8597 Not necessarily stalked, but he did spy on the whole neighbourhood, so he probably spied on her too at some point especially because she was next door and was an attractive girl a little bit younger than him

The last part broke my heart into pieces. I lost my older sister when she was 23and what she said is true. Family pictures are hard to look at coz everyone else has grown but she is still the 23 years old girl. Damn this hit me hard 😭😢

I don’t believe she would’ve said those remarks UNLESS she caught him peeping/spying on her. When she confronted him, he knew she’d tell so he killed her.
I don't believe she said that to him either. People like him always try to make it look like their victims attacked them in some way, to minimise their own guilt. I do believe he was peeping in her window and she caught him at it. I think he would have raped her too, since someone like that always does that eventually and he had the opportunity.

Shamanda Nation Of course you are right. I have bipolar friends who are the nicest and most caring people I know. Bipolar is not a severe delusional disorder that takes away your understanding of right and wrong. A great many people do use it as an excuse for their behaviour unfortunately. Yeah. I have BPD and the only violent tendencies I have are toward myself because I loathe myself. Mental illness does not make you a bad person. Actions make you a bad person.
It makes me furious that people with mental/emotional health issues are scapegoats for so much violent behaviour, it exacerbates already existing prejudice against us by society. It gets reported and even those who have good intentions but maybe not knowingly had contact with someone who suffers from anyone with the random diagnoses thrown about in court takes in the media messaging.
Those who damage society either by outward violence or inward abuse generally have Antisocial Personality Disorder and/or Narcissist Personality Disorder.

Many people suffer from various mental health challenges but they don’t kill others as a result.
He only confessed because he was paranoid that they were on to him and he thought he could get away with second degree murder. Adding a bit about her (fake) provoking him to further his own victimhood. Thank you to the justice system for believing his bs.

They sure aren't. I have Bipolar disorder. I have neither stalked or murdered anyone...not even by "accident"!
I've had severe depression for as long as I could remember. I've never wantedor tried to hurt anyone but myself or stalk anyone.
Those are nothing but excuses for him.
I have both bipolar and depression, was diagnosed and put on medication at 16. Later on, also diagnosed with PTSD, and anxiety. I have never stalked anyone and have never been homicidal. I have been suicidal many times, but I've never intentionally wanted to hurt anyone, or stalk/spy on someone. I'm so tired of these killers associating mental illness with killing, kidnapping, assaulting, sexually abusing, etc. I know some of these criminals actually do have mental illness, but many also say they have it to try to make what horrible things they've done to seem justified, and try to get a lesser sentence by faking being mentally ill or acting like they are not competent to stand trial. It makes people with mental illness look bad, and creates stigmas that are completely false.

When I watch these stories...it makes me realize this can happen to anyone...God protect us. This literally scares me...
notice how her bf said 'I lovED her' in past tense...but was innocent. let's keep this in mind when we automatically say someone is guilty because they might speak of the person in past tense.

Her mom is so right. I love hearing stories about my daughter thru the hearts and memories of others she knew. It's still very hard, it's been almost 11 years since she passed at 15. Not a day goes by without missing her so much

That is so weird I was thinking she reminds me so much of the woman who played Alice who was Phoebe's brother's girlfriend in Friends, I looked it up & it's the same actress as you're referring to. The resemblance is uncanny & what's more the voice is very similar too.
I lost my son to SiDs at 3 months and when she said I'd give my life for just five minutes...it's something i say to myself all the time
I'm crying my eyes out. 😭 My heart aches for that Mother. She has such a powerfully sad, wise soul. You can feel her deep pain and loss. When she discussed not having so many photos of her around anymore, how time moves on, how she can't reminisce about her now BC it's too painful is so terribly devastating. Her life paused 14 yrs ago. She'll always be 25~ At the threshold her adult life. ( She would have been 39 this year). And died in such a brutal horrific way. That was her baby. And she stood by her. She will never stop missing her loving her and praying to God for that 5 minutes with her baby. How deeply tragic and to think it happened right next door while she slept is just what a Mother's nightmare is made of. I am so proud of her strength tenacity in that she developed the Canoe Project in her name. What a beautiful tribute which will allow her amazing legacy to go on forever. That's the most beautiful gift you can give to a soul who met such a horrific untimely death.
I think she needs to talk with a counsellor about all of this so she can remember her beautiful girl without thinking about that POS. What kind of victim support services are there in Canada? Are they as bad as the 'justice' system? I hope she can start sharing memories of her lovely sweet girl because she's still alive in their hearts.

Wow Canada needs to fix their justice system... I know ours isn’t perfect but at least we have the life in prison without parole. Most of the cases I’ve watched on this I think all of them have possibilities of parole. Life in prison should mean life in prison.

England is just as bad or the London courts at least. Of course Canada followed suit. Some never serve any time because if they didn't make bail they are given time served it's disgusting. If you kill somebody you took a life and you shouldn't be able to get life outside you should spend your life in prison at least you pay for what you did you give your life because of that maybe you can help others in prison become better people but that's very rare.
I did meet one killer who was pardoned by the president & that was because he made such a huge change in his life and became a like a church minister. He was in prison for life in Leavenworth because he accidentally in a drug-crazed violent paranoid craze killed his best friend. He didn't know he did it till 4 days later.
He drove his his car 4 days completely drugged up! Gets to where he came from Sioux Indian reservation in The Dakotas & says grandpa I need to sleep & his grandfather is trying to talk to him but he's not in his right mind. He can't hear his grandfather. So grandfather puts him to bed when he wakes up his grandfather says what have you done? He looks at himself and realizes he's covered in blood.
So he immediately calls the police where he lived & he said are you looking for someone who has done something wrong because I just got home & I realized that something bad has happened I'm covered in blood. They asked him his name where he lived in California & did he own a hunting knife & was it with him. He said all the things they needed to know & that no his hunting knife was not in its sheath. Then they asked him did he know the person by the name of ----. He said yes he's my best friend, they said well we need to have the Tribal Police pick you up will that be okay? He said yes & they told him to get a lawyer they didn't tell him what the problem was they just told him that he needed to get a lawyer.
So he cleaned himself up put on some clean clothes went over to Tribal Police & told them he was wanted in California but he wasn't sure for what. Well they cuffed him, read him his rights. Then told him he'd killed his best friend. Stabbed in the back with his own hunting knife. He was devastated he didn't fight the extradition when Marines flew in & he pled guilty. They had him dead to rights there were no other fingerprints there was no other blood there was nothing it wasn't a setup. It was pretty simple. They had been doing drugs all weekend as they were on the beginning of a month-long vacation and they were going to head up north. They had added something to it they weren't used to & he said it really made them crazy. He became paranoid that his friend was after him & his friend thought he was after him. They both pulled out knives & attacked each other & they showed that yes there was some blood on the friends but because he had stabbed his friend in the back & it was pretty gruesome I guess the knife was still in there and these weren't small hunting knives these were the kinds that you know Rambo has these were. Active Military. So he was really devastated. Originally he thought it was a dream because it was so crazy there was no way he'd killed his friend but the drugs had fueled some kind of paranoia. reason he got in the car was he wanted to get back home be safe on the reservation. He knew his grandfather and the medicine man could help him get this drug out of his system but he couldn't even think when he got to his grandfather's. When he tries to think of what he must have looked like to the people when he filled the car with gas because he was covered in blood and he smelled like blood. But I'm sure by the time they figured out hey I better get this guy's license or something, he was gone. that he made it home driving through stoned out of his mind is amazong! He didn't even remember driving. He just woke up and he was home he knows why he came home because he knew that when he woke up hey Grandpa & medicine man can help me with this crap I took. But he doesn't remember driving it & he doesn't remember the moment of killing his friend who remembers when everything went wrong in the apartment but he doesn't remember killing His friend. He thinks that part of his mind is protecting him from the brutality of the situation. they both had served together fought together and come off the reservation together. Now ome was going home dead because the other had lost control of his mind. I don't know how long he was in prison. I believe what happened, happened possibly during the Vietnam war. He and his buddy were back from being overseas. That's how they've got hooked on doing drugs
I met him in the mid-eighties and he was in his mid-50s at that point. He ran a special Al-Anon, AAA, and Narcotics Anonymous for active duty military geared specifically to help them deal with their pressures from their work and what they saw that cause them to turn to drugs and alcohol to fight off the PTSD Etc. He went on while he was in prison and earned his GED then proceeded to get a doctorate in Psychology specializing in addictions in the military. The warden felt he'd made such huge strides in his attitude his actions & way of life, he felt he deserved an opportunity for a future & since he'd gone in so young the warden asked the president for a pardon & they gave it to him.

These are so gut wrenching, and I can't help but cry for the parents, extended family and friends of Alicia, and all victims in this series. My heart goes out to all of you. You've been strong, you've been brave, and you are not alone. 💖 😢

The BF is really shady. Sometimes when people have mental illness and when they witness traumatic events, they can associate them with themselves, I just wonder if the experts went far enough in the investigation to confirm the forensic evidence and DNA of everyone.

When her mom was talking a nap and Alicia appeared, this was Alicia's spirit letting her mom know that she was ok. She was dead but ok. This is what spirits do to let family members know that they are in spirit and alright. ♥️

It is truly nice to see how your support of Sharon and her family is genuine. You didn't just file a story and move on to the next one, you followed it through for years. That is amazing.

This mother is absolutely darling and it's so sad she has had to go thru this kind of pain. Her love for her child is so apparent. Always be wary of a 30 something loner, unemployed, recluse person who still lives at home. Also be careful how you speak to them. I imagine they have a lot of built up anger and too many crazy ideas.

@@kimseeley1 Losing a loved one to illness is no different than losing them in a murder case. It's very hard to see a child die little by little and you can't do anything to save them.
The sad part is that if he had not confessed I honestly believe her boyfriend would have eventually been charged with murder OR she would have become a cold case never to be solved. Could you imagine not knowing what happened to her and yet the answer is right next door. That’s insane and who on earth approaches someone after 12am after seeing their boyfriend to the car?!?!? I would’ve called him strange and weird too.
I must admit, I did think it was the boyfriend at 1st, especially as he rang the police reporting her missing before ringing her parents to see if they knew where she was. He does come over as a cold fish but that could be nerves etc.
I found the boyfriend to be a bit odd.
I did too. I just finished watching and he just doesn’t sit right with me. There’s just come thing about him. He said all I do is tell the truth and stuff like that and he just looked so cold. I don’t know I think I’m reading into too much but he’s just odd.

Kathi Simmons I don’t believe his story for one minute. I think he tried to make her out to be a mean person who deserved what she had coming to her. I think she denied and defended herself from his advances and it enraged him so much that he killed her.
i loved her too, she's so lovely. you can tell that she really loved her daughter. she looks so calm telling her story but i can only image the pain, stress and sadness this nightmare that she has live day by day

Right when the mother said there was a shoe in the backyard I knew it was someone nearby. The boyfriend seemed genuine he even called her work.

I’m so glad that they didn’t automatically assume it was the boyfriend. I could see him being accused just for simply being the last person to see her. I just had this feeling it wasn’t the boyfriend, and I couldn’t help but think he was going to end up accused.
I'm curious if the killers mother still lives next door?
Woman from well off area doesn't show up for work in the morning and before noon 3 cruisers are at the house, followed shortly after by one of the largest searches in the province's history, privilege at it's best. Not a slight against she or her fam, I just wish all women who went missing were searched for and in the news as fast as this one.
Please try to understand that every call is taken seriously.
To say otherwise without any thing to defend your comments is insulting to first responders.

Do you really truly believe that if the police got a call from Regent Park, Rexdale, and Jane & Finch that they would speed with the same fervor as they would if they got a call from Forest Hill, Rosedale, Leaside, the Bridle Path, and Alicia's neighbourhood??? And if you assume that citizens would enthusiastically come out to volunteer in high numbers to search for missing women of underprivileged neighbourhoods and put up posters for them they way they did for Alicia, then you are delusional and you need a serious reality check! You are kidding yourself the most.
@@ellencampbell3921 No when you call in and someone comes by to take a report and they see where you live and your colour etc they then tell you they won't take a report because she likely ran away or is off partying etc and will "turn up eventually" and nothing is done...ask the thousands of families of all the missing Native women or a low income black mom in any large city here, even a white fam who lives in gov housing.

@@doggieworld3652 This case is 15 years old, not like she died recently. This forum is the public discussion and viewing forum of TH-cam, not a forum for she and her family. If you read my comment I said it's nothing against them but that ALL should be looked for like this, not that she and her fam did not deserve to get the quick response they did. I'm sure her family would agree that everyone's missing daughter should be searched for.

My daughter’s 22, if she was brutally murdered I’ve no idea how I’d survive. This Mother was exceptionally brave to give interviews and show her truly heartbreaking grief.....god bless you, 1 day I hope you see your beautiful daughter again 🙏❤️ x
