- Hungarian legend László Kubala was widely regarded as FC Barcelona's greatest ever player prior to the arrival of Lionel Messi, yet he never featured at the FIFA World Cup.
That's because Kubala fled Hungary in 1946, and again in 1949, thus missing out on the Magical Magyar's run to the 1954 World Cup final.
In this brief documentary, HITC Sevens takes a look at the remarkable life of a true football legend, with a particular focus on Kubala's early years, his life as a refugee, and the touring team that he founded whilst banned by FIFA.

Kubala according to a survey taken in 2004 was voted the greatest Barcelona player of all time, that Hungary team was filled with lethal forwards like Kubala, Puskas and Koscis, this is a story that every football fan needs to know, just goes on to show why this is called the beautiful game
If he played today, he’d be called overrated by online football experts
Kubala is soooo underrated because he didn't play for Hungary in anyworld cups, nor did he win the European Cup like Di Stefano did. If he had done either of those two things, he would be praised as a myth at the level of Cruyff or Di Stefano

@@DomenBremecXCVI I dont really know for an example he said Kocsis and Ferencváros quite well but there were some names where i had no idea what he was saying. So i can't really decide
@@feazy5479 Good to know. I think it's important for him to get as accurate feedback as possible, so he can improve on this aspect of his videos even though it's not that important in the grand scheme of things and he's doing it better than 99.9% of others. I know I really like when people take the time to learn how to pronounce Slovene words (btw, hello neighbour!) and even other words of other Ex-Yugoslav languages.

Video idea: make the best team made up of only players born from a certain month e.g. January XI. This could either be present players or past and present players, including either a current or past and present manager. You could make this a mini series and maybe even put them in a little cup competition at the end and predict which team would come out on top

If they're under the control of the Nazis, they competed in the German league system. Hence why Rapid Vienna won a German league title.
@@brandonhey7797 yes and no: for areas formally annexed into the German Reich like Austria, you're correct. In occupied France football was divided into two competitions (North and South) and professionalism was abolished. Denmark changed the league format a bit but mostly carried on as normal. In the Netherlands the top division appears to have just carried on as normal. In Belgium two seasons were cancelled, two were played under an expanded format with no relegation, and then the '44-'45 season was cancelled. Be interesting to know why each went the route they did!

Can you do a video on why French Clubs have not been as successful historically ? I know you have defended Ligue 1 in the past , but only 1 UCL for French clubs is really underwhelming for a country like France . Especially when you consider that Dutch clubs have won 6 UCL ' s and Portuguese clubs have won 4 UCLs

Maybe you could do a crossover video with the other channel on footballers that went to play in Scotland and had a nightmare? You could let them get their pithy jokes out the way and then put them in their place. Could even make it into a series with a follow up on players that went the other way and did well, players that left Scotland and bombed, and then going into an in-depth video on the factors behind the decline in Scottish football since the early 90's.

Every time I watch a video on a Hungarian legend, I just think about how much more just the world would be had the Magyars won the 1954 World Cup. Germany would still have 3 anyway.
Imagine if they had won. Maybe football in Hungary would be more respected now. To be fair though, Hungary have started to improve.
