Fully agree, i currently use a Pixel 6 Pro. I know the Pixel 7 had major improvements on the video end, but they still have a bit more to do to catch up to the iPhone video wise.
Truth. The first I thought when I started this video
I was thinking the same thing. The video is good/great, but it seems the audio is quite a bit worse than the iPhone he has been using.
This is the very first thing i noticed. The voice is not as clear to hear as the iphone.
My dad is a rideshare driver, and I recently convinced him to purchase the Bolt EUV for his business. Uber offers a 2000 discount on the car. Their website says 2022, but the dealers can look it up on their system for 2023. Chevy also offers free lv.2 charging installation (hardwired or a NEMA 14-50 outlet). My dad can use up to $1000 in gas a month, so this should significantly reduce his expense on fuel. So much so that it's almost like being paid to drive electric. Thanks for bringing more attention to the Bolt EUV.
Don't forget how long it will take to recoup the cost, the rising cost of electric, downtime charging, and extremely expensive battery replacements. GG

In an increasing number of states, putting more electric cars online would bring down the grid or cause rolling blackouts during the summer.
Electricity isn't free. They need to improve the infrastructure to accommodate. That translates to higher kWh rates and taxes.
If you Uber in a small area, that should work well. I just would hate to be below half on power and you have to turn down a long job because you don't have the range.
If it’s cold and/or you work a lot the range and charging speed are major hindrances. It charges painfully slow on “fast chargers” and you’re looking at 1hour charging. I felt like I was losing money by saving it.
An engineer colleague of mine called out the original Chevy Bolt as vastly overlooked maybe 5 years ago. He noted they have active cooling on their battery system while the Nissan Leafs were starting to show their issues with passive cooling. The size was still a challenge for me, but here we are with the EUV. Great to see this create a solid option at the more affordable end of the spectrum.

EUV is only 3 inches longer then the EV. So it feels pretty much the same, spare a few inches of rear legroom.
I own a Bolt and a Tesla.
When I purchased the Bolt at $22k it was the best deal.
Today they go for around $35k and a Tesla Model 3 with the tax break and/or mark down goes for around $40k.
The Tesla is the better overall car and hence the better deal.
I like the Bolt, but the Software and Integration (Phone, Streaming) is far superior on the Tesla, the dependability (battery, safety) is also superior on the Tesla. Reality.
@@crazycoolclips With the rebates you can get a fully optioned out bolt OTD for 35k, you get a base model tesla for 40k, not counting Tax, title and licensing fees.
it;s a pretty terrible car and they started catching on fire so nah, it is now vastly overlooked.
The user interface with physical buttons interface is just awesome. The UI is familiar to most users and overall I really love the effort put into this car.
As a 2022 Bolt EV owner, something I wish you'd mentioned (especially since you talked about the rear lights specifically) is that the new Bolts don't have amber rear turn signals. Instead, the rear brake lights double as turn signals, which has been proven to be *less safe* by the NHTSA, and is not allowed in most of the world, but for cars designed to only sell in North America manufacturers will often take that shortcut.
It's a small thing, but I think bringing more attention to it in reviews like these might help make it a less common practice.
Never understood why they gave the gen 2 volt amber turn signals, only to remove them on the bolt, then make them even worse on the bolt refresh & EUV.

At least they are really bright LEDs unlike the backup lights - which I replaced for about $35 with LEDs. With it being such a small car, I do make some concessions to safety, like avoiding turning left across traffic into a turning lane, and I put my headlights on before the auto lights kick on if it's raining. But it's a great little car overall and I bet it's the cheapest car to own over 5 years that exists.
The same thing is on the hybrid Volts. I think Chevy will implement these on all electrified and electric model
Yeah but there are yellow signal lights on the mirrors at least. I get that everyone feels the rear lighting on the Bolt isn't state of the art but its still way better than we had back in the day.
While I was tempted by the Ioniq 5, the Bolt was the only car that wasn’t hugely marked up and at top end $35k get heated/cooled seats, 3D camera, wireless phone charging and CarPlay. Plenty of quick 0-30mph and I’m getting 4.3 miles per kWh. About 270 range driving it even accelerating hard often.

Yep. Among the many things GM never mentions, nor do EV advocates, is that the Bolt lineup is among the most efficient on the market. Ioniq will be lucky to ever see 3 miles per kw, but the Bolt will do 3 to 4+ all day. Hummer EV gets 1.6 miles per Kw.

I installed a Sinwave inverter for when power outage happens and it added around ~$25 of electricity per month when I recharge it at home
Ive been so excited to see this on the road. This is the first genuine try at an affordable EV with genuinely respectable range and features. Really glad to see one of the OEMs start to take this EV thing seriously, and with intention to keep it going.
They need to do a lot better than this to consider it a decent try

My husband and I bought an EUV earlier this year and love it! Ours is the LT trim (most of the same things but no 360 cam and no super cruise) and it totalled $28k. I'm 6'4 and love the amount of room it has, it's also surprisingly quick. It's my husband's daily driver and he uses it to drive for Uber. More people need to know how great of a car it is 😊

Yeah, my husband is 6'2 and my just turned 13 year is already over 5'8 and still growing Ike a weed. The space is the passenger areas sold us. The tiny cargo area has been a challenge on grocery shopping days, but that's twice a month so nothing to stress over

I have a 2017 Chevy Bolt LT and has been the best driving experience of my life. 0$ spent on maintenance besides changing tires.
50$ on my electric bill per month to drive 800 miles. Very comfortable and quiet.
I have saved estimated $5,000 just in gas savings. Not to mention the No cost on maintenance. With that money I was able to move out of state and start over in my dream location.
Honestly highly recommend even a used model.
Its also very fast 💨
Comfortable? To me those seats on the older ones felt like a park bench with cloth over it
I did get to sit in a 23 bolt euv premier. Very very nice interior and comfortable more padded power seats for the driver

I don't own a car with one, but I like the idea of using a dial to navigate the touch screen. Physical interfaces are easier to learn muscle memory with, making it easier to keep your eyes on the road. Not having to reach as far is nice too. It's a non issue when you're stopped, but I'm sure everyone can attest to when they've "had" to use a touch screen while their vehicle is moving.
Touch screens suck. I still know the muscle memory to adjust the head unit I took across 3 different cars in my early driving career.
@@johnmickey5017 I think for some things like maps or typing, their definitely nice. But for things like climate control/changing the song, physical buttons all the way.
Shouldn't cars be hands free altogether? It's time for Kit from Knight rider, or at least Alexa.
Mazda has been doing this for years now and now that I don't own my Cx5 anymore I definitely miss that feature.

We bought this, with all features except bluecruise. We've had it for about 2 months now and we love it. Bought it for pretty much all the reasons stated in this video, its a really practical car, with great features, at a great price. Love the hatchback format you can fit/move a lot more stuff than you would think. The miles on a charge has been fantastic for us. In warm weather with moderate freeway driving we easily exceed the rated 240miles on a full charge. We only charge it up to 80% in normal circumstances and we get about 240 miles on that.

So glad to see Marques covering the Bolt. I’ve had the EUV since May and it’s been fantastic. Only problems I’ve run into are with the dealership service department lol. But the car itself is great and suits my needs. I don’t do a ton of long distance driving which helps, but for quick trips around town I regularly get 270-300 miles on one charge. Unless the AC/Heat is turned on 😅
So glad that he did too. I’ve been after a Tesla for a while and it’s good to see his approval on something that won’t kill my bank account. I work from home and want something with CarPlay to pick the kids up in from school. No road trips or anything and I am loving the Bolt

On the other hand, how often do you find yourself needing service? I haven't had a single problem with my 2019 Bolt... the only time it saw the dealer after buying it, was when Chevy gave me a free (bigger) battery and an extra 10 years of warranty. Fantastic little car. Not as lux as others, but it turns out if you pay $20k more, you get more stuff (who knew?).

It blows my mind that people are just now seeing how great of a value that Bolt EV is. Back in 2021, even when it's MSRP was $34,000 - you could walk onto a lot of lots and drive-away in a brand new 2020/2021 Bolt EV for sub $25K utilizing the manufacturer discount and Costco discount. There's stories of people on reddit walking out w/ 2020's for $20K MSRP. The Bolt EV does 0-60 in 6.3 seconds w/ performance tires - Has practically the same range as a US Base Tesla Model 3 (48K starting MSRP) and can be had for less than $30,000 after tax, title and fee. It's biggest shortcomings are it's top speed of 92-93MPH, slower DCFC speeds (55kW-60kW max) and the resistive heater (Isn't very efficient, uses a lot of power) - That being said, I don't even know if you can find a real ICE equivalent for it's price when it comes to features and performance. My '22 LT w/ every single option you can get on that trim (Heated seats, blind-spot monitoring, heated steering wheel) was less than $30,000. It costs me $5 to use 65kWh of energy, meaning it costs me $5 to go roughly 250 miles. It costs me about $20 a month in electricity as opposed to $175 a month in gasoline. No oil changes, no transmission flushes and my power company gave me $300 worth of credit for owning an EV.
Same here - I leased a fully loaded 2020 Bolt with a $44k MSRP which came to $25k out the door after Chevy discounts...didn't pay a cent driving out the door, and $230/month for 36 months. Was a hell of a bargain for an EV with 260 miles, 360 cameras, heated steering wheel, camera rear view mirror, etc. The Bolt has always been excellent value but between GM failing to market it properly and the battery fire issues it was a bit of a dud...hopefully this "new" gen gets more attention, especially as it becomes even more attractive in 2023 with the new EV credit structure.

I bought my 2020 Bolt Premiere for $27500 (it was a demo with 1600 miles on it). The best car I’ve ever had. A joy to drive - I can’t imagine why anyone would need more acceleration. I’ve now got 30k miles on it with no maintenance other than tire rotation. AND because of the recall, at some point I’ll get a brand new battery system, so I’ll be basically starting over.
Resitive heating is 100% efficient. Every bit of energy used by the system goes to heat.
I think it helps that the tech in the Bolt has caught up to Tesla. You can now get most of the driver assist utilities, just limited as they slowly map the entire US. Also these companies are offering large touchscreens that don't run on archaic software anymore. Bolt seems a whole lot cooler with some of the software updates.
Got one on order, just watching to confirm my purchase 😂. Definitely best EV for the money imo

I carpooled to school with my friend in the back seat if this car for a year. The back seat experience is genuinely pretty great for the car's size.
I also find it looks slick AF. The rear could use some work but the overall design is great.

I cant believe you made a video on the bolt EUV! I would've thought you'd be making a video on a >30k car. amazing work! I have one and its so fun to drive and I actually think reaching and exceeding the rated range is not too difficult as long as you're not flooring it everywhere (which ill admit is pretty hard to do lol).

I think the knob scroll is pretty neat. I know in the winter when I have gloves on I can't use my car's touchscreen since it doesn't register. So the knob can be pretty handy
The biggest reason it exists is actually to maintain functionality if your Touchscreen fails without warning. Otherwise it would be completely useless.
Marques Brownlee is the absolute BEST EV car reviewer on the planet. He cuts to the chase! He is extremely thorough yet concise. He covers everything! Yes, the BOLT EUV had a bumpy start with the battery fire issues but that has been corrected. GM says they will continue to manufacture this model for at least two more years until they come out with the new platform. EVs are evolving so we can expect lots of exciting changes from all the car makers in the future. I just ordered a BOLT EUV Premier Redline today and expect it to arrive in 5-7 months. The storage in this car is INSANE! I am six foot two and I fit comfortably in the front and back seat during my test drives. I don't know why EVs don't come with spare tires! That is a major concern for me but I will continue to think about what I can do about this. I do wish it had a front trunk but the fact that the rear seats fold all the way flat is very useful. The acceleration is good, but I don't EVER plan on driving from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds so the fact that it's not as peppy as a TESLA is of no concern. It has plenty of pep to get on the highway or to pass a car on the highway. The fact that it has all of these features (usually found only in VERY expensive EVs) is very compelling. It's not perfect, but for the money, this is an excellent value. I plan on using it to run around town and to commute back and forth to work. I had to shop around to avoid the market adjustment, the biggest Chevy Dealership in Seattle wouldn't drop their market adjustment so I shopped around and found a smaller dealership that dropped the costly and unfair market adjust if I ordered the car from the factory. So that's what I did. DON'T PAY MARKET ADJUSTMENTS folks, it's just a way for dealerships to pad their profits.
The only thing that is holding me back on buying a EUV or any EV is the spare tire my father-inlaw lives about 220 miles for us he is 91 and we make frequent trips out to see him from taken him to Doc appointments to picking up meds.
On that same note my dad is all so 91 and he is around 90 miles away I just cant see taken these trips with out a spare its just crazy untill they figure it out I am out of the EV market!
@@dirtdigger949 So just buy your own spare and wheel and PROBLEM SOLVED, there is PLENTY of cargo room to store the spare. PLENTY. Many people have done exactly this and they even have a full size wheel and tire.

But she at least is ok with the idea of a EV so I am half way there lol. So most likely in the next 2 to 4 years or so.
EVs like this and the leaf are definitely very important for the adoption of EVs. Too many EVs are reviewed poorly and usually only against a Tesla. But guess what, most people won’t miss what the more expensive Tesla has. The Bolt and Leaf can do the school run, the commute to work and maybe stopping by the supermarket on the way back and then charge overnight at home (assuming you have the ability to. And you can save money on the Bolt by not having the heated seats at the back because if Timmy doesn’t like it, he could just take the bus

@@kingiam9271 Slightly? If the charging network for others is still anything like his video from last year Tesla's are still hands down the better choice, esp if you can't charge at home. A car that provides unreliable information is a car that will leave you stranded and should be seen as unreliable, or with extra work compared to both T and Gas.
I think Carwow also does road trips but I'm not 100% sure, I do know they test the ranges of EVs.
If companies can fix this issue then sure I'd gladly buy the best car for my needs, but till then? If you can't charge at home or wish to take long trips buy a Tesla.
Also Engineering Explained talked about smart charging in one of his videos 2 years ago I think, where sometimes bypassing suggested charging equals to less time waiting because of how charging works.
@@egg-roll8968 bruh charging infastructure is getting better and better every year. A Tesla might be slightly better at charging lol still doesn't warrant the excessive price tag. Tesla agrees that's why it's lowering prices on their overpriced vehicles.
I just took delivery of mine yesterday and am definitely loving being able to get it under MSRP as well. And it's good to note that the 2023 is actually lower in price compared to the 2022 model which is nice since everything else in the markets seems to keep on going up

@@thunderb00m mine was an order so that could also be the case since I had to wait around 5 months for mine but it was diamond Chevrolet, I got under MSRP by them giving me extras in other areas that they threw in for free

That's great, as long as you are not doing it to be environmentally friendly. Because the power for your car, is still going to come from burning fossil fuels or other planet destroying methods like damning rivers. It's just now going to power to charger the battery that runs the car. It could be argued that buy using an EUV you are doing MORE environmental damage as unlike a traditional motored vehicle, there's no industry set up to recycle these specialty car parts versus standard junk yards. And then there's that oh so incovenience of where does the materials for the batteries come from. You know the ones that are saving the planet by destroying it for more lithium and cobalt mines.

I went from a Model 3 to a Bolt EV, and honestly, I couldn't be happier. I take a handful of road trips per year, and sure it takes longer, but it was literally half the price of what I sold my 3 for, and it's a terrific daily driver. Plus, it's really the only electric "hot hatch," which is my favorite segment.
I've thought about it, but my commute is 180 miles round trip twice per week. I doubt the EUV could make this trip in cold weather using heating and 70-80mph speeds.

I just drove from Canon to Denver CO, 120 miles on the dot, for Turkey day. I plugged in to my mom's dryer outlet* and was charged and ready to head back the next morning. Used 40kWh for the 120 miles despite it being 20F outside and completing the drive in under 2 hours, meaning an average speed of 60mph despite going through CO Springs Turkey day traffic. Plus there's Monument Hill...
*Even if you can't charge like that at your destination a basic wall outlet will get you 3mph back in the battery. A dryer outlet is ~30mph. And the 50kW max charging something like 150mph. You don't need to do fast charging, and you'll save money if you don't, but it is an option. An extra half hour once on your trip to cut your cost per mile to a third or even a quarter of an average gas car? Yes please.

@@chicoeur619 lol you are crazy. Name me an AWD EV that gets 340 or more miles for less than $50k (what I paid before tax in 2021). I love my Model 3 LR. 21k miles and no issues. Saved $1800 in gas already.
Thank you! EV enthusiasts have been ignoring the Bolt for years. Meanwhile, it’s been the best value in EVs for 5 years running. Great range, great price, great storage, great features. No, it doesn’t have everything a $100k car does and you can’t take it to the track, but it’s been purchasable for 25-35k for 5 years and it gets you around town. The 50 mwh charging speed sucks for anyone with long regular driving, but the battery is big enough that if you do “normal” daily driving it doesn’t matter. I’ve had mine for 3 years now , it is our primary vehicle and share by 3 people, and I’ve never charged it except for Level 1, 110v, charging that entire time. Yep, it had a battery problem, it doesn’t any more and I got a brand new battery for free, it’s a non-issue.
I have a 2017 Bolt Ev (slightly smaller) and because the windshield is so far ahead on the dash one can easily fit 10ft long boards inside with the hatch closed. It's by far the most practical/economical vehicle I've ever owned. I drive mostly country/city roads and get 4.+ m/kw

@@magnate2372 The battery swap is free, and the new battery they put in is covered under a 7 year warranty.
At least that's what the rep said when they replaced the battery in my Bolt.
Great review! Bought a 2023 a month ago now and loving it so far, for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. It deserves visibility as it’s really a great value car.
My guess on the front wheel drive is for winter time! It has heated seats and even a heated wheel so they definitely have the colder weather in mind! Rear wheel would be a lot of fish tailing. If they offered an all wheel drive that would be amazing. I'm so excited about how cheap EV's are getting and hoping when I need to upgrade cars in like 7 years that we'll have plenty of affordable options!
They were only thinking of saving money. FWD gas cars are cheaper to make and to save money they used the same platform as the sonic and spark, just adapted for electric use. Pop the hood and all the electric components are there where the gas engine would normally be.
RWD is better in every possible way than FWD except for reusing the corporate parts bin.

The value of this thing at MSRP is amazing. I do wonder if dealers will actually sell them for that price, or if they're doing the crap Kia has been doing and marking them up like crazy. You don't see as many of these on the road as I'd expect.
Super Cruise on road trips in western states is an absolute game changer for fatigue.
I bought the Bolt EV and was able to purchase for MSRP. The Bolt subreddit is a good place to find info on dealers that don't have add on charges.
I bought my Bolt EUV for MSRP at the end of June. Local in this area dealers are not marking up at all. Mine was loaded (except for SuperCruise, which we'll get with a Blazer EV next year for long road trips) for just over $35k. Love the shade for the roof, remote interior conditioning, responsive infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Carplay, comfortable ride and other amenities for the price.

I'm actually considering this car as my next vehicle, so thanks for this video. Also, the Pixel 7 Pro did a GREAT job on recording this video. I wouldn't have know that this was filmed with anything other than a professional video camera if you hadn't mentioned it. The only glitch, and I don't know which device you were using at the time, was the solar flaring at 8:51 in the video, but I'm sure the phone or the Insta360 must have been right in line with the sun at that moment.
We got a bolt EUV over black friday with a vet discount and a costco membership. It wasn't CHEAP, but for how decked out it is in tech and what it costs compared to similar vehicles in its class, it kind of felt like we stole it (I opted out of the super cruise and the sunroof/audio upgrades). I have absolutely loved this car so far. I simply cannot recommend any other EV over this car as long as you care even a little bit about what you're paying for it.
One quirky ding against the infotainment, which is otherwise stellar in my opinion, is that the outside temperature is on the big screen and not the small one mounted above the steering wheel. This means that you can't see the outside temperature if you're using carplay/ android auto without hitting the home button. Not ideal, and I hope they fix that with an update, but also not a deal breaker.
I've been hammering GM about this since 2017 on our 2018 Terrain. Same issue. Lots of room on the instrument cluster for temp. Got an EUV as well
That bugs me too. Android Auto does have a weather/temperature icon next to the time, but it always takes 10+ minutes to start displaying for me. Not having the temperature displayed anywhere else is annoying I agree. Especially since the gauge screen has the room easily. The lower portion where it shows the gear selected gets blocked by the steering wheel, too. Should be at the top of the display instead of the very bottom.
Estimated $1,000 per year minimum savings on not having to pay for gas. No engine means less maintenance. Your essentially getting money back just by driving this car and owning it without payments

I really like the physical rotary select knob. I could see myself being able to choose items and interact with them using my peripheral vision, letting me keep my eyes on the road. Well done

Picking mine up on wednesday. Got a 23 EUV premier redline. Like 36k msrp but with all the fed/state/power company incentives I am getting $15,700 off that price and a free level 2 charger installed at home. Also discounted charging rates from the power company (We do have solar but not enough to fully cover our use). Going to use it to commute to work and charge it at home
So glad to hear you liked the Bolt EUV, Marques! I picked up my 2023 Bolt EUV last month! Dealer didn't mark up the price - it was a great deal! The car is awesome. It would be fantastic if it got 300 miles of range and had fast charging, but that's literally my only gripe.
PS - Chevy pays $1,200 toward installation of a 240v at-home outlet. They arrange the electrician and everything.
Drove an original Bolt for 3 years as a commuter car (about 100 miles a day). Was perfectly adequate for the price. A very solid car. This version looks even better than the original.
I still have my 2017 Bolt LT. Love this car. It’s very quick when you need it to be, also very quiet.
I have had 0 issues with this car in 5 years and drive 200 miles per day. Range does go down a bit when it’s very cold outside.
I’m gonna be driving this car into 100,000 miles soon.

@@gerradwalker346 good question. Not noticeable. I actually had a severe herniated lumbar disc that prevented me from driving the last month so I did not even plug my car in to charge. Today I drove the car with the same amount of battery life that was there a month ago and seems to hold charges better over time as opposed to the first 5k- 10k miles
I just bought my Bolt EUV and I love the car. It’s perfect for what I need. The only down side is that it doesn’t charge as fast for road trips but perfect for commuting or driving local.

I have the Bolt EV and the what that I tell my friends about this car is that I don't know that I'd want it to be my family's only car because the charging options that are out there for non-Teslas but otherwise it is very quick for a small car. Drives smoothly, is easy to park given its size and the 360 cameras. A really nice feature is that if you leave the car plugged in, and use auto start - it heats the car up in about 3 minutes. So when I'm leaving for the day, I turn the car on, put my shoes and coat on, and by the time I head to the car it's warm. In Pa where I live that is a revelation.
Side note. I’m also from PA. Isn’t it weird how we’re the only state that verbally refers to it as “PA”. You never hear someone say “I’m from CA.” Or “I’m from TN.” But for some reason we always just say PA. Kinda funny

I always love when people who don’t drive normal cars get into normal cars and are sooooo amazed at the features that they’ve had forever. In a lot of cases actually, we lower class driving car enthusiasts are often SHOCKED at what features high end cars are missing that our “low end” cars have. LOL.

@@green29373 If you can't see the brake lights, you're probably too close behind the bolt anyway (bigger vehicles have longer brake distance too), and if you really insist on not leaving space between you and the person in front of you (or if you're in very heavy traffic) there's always the third brake light.

For someone who drives a 2014 Nissan rogue that is the tiny bit larger gas crossover version; this car is highly appealing. I also have a sub trunk but the one in the Bolt EUV appears to be deeper. Great vid!
We have a Mach-E and a Bolt EV (not the EUV). You can get one fairly loaded for $25k right now, and the Bolt EV is just an unbeatable value as a commuter car. Feature-for-feature combined with a very low cost to operate make it an insane deal. We love our Bolt. We love our Mach-E too (we wanted something that charged faster and had more space for road trips). Though, the Bolt EV is SURPRISINGLY roomy inside.
Also, my s22 Ultra, in a case, fits in the wireless charger (and charges) in our Bolt. :-)
Final edit: the Bolt EV is also quicker and bit more fun to drive than the EUV. Add that to the lower price, and I'm happy!

A great addition to the reviews can be testing of the car batteries on a normal day so that consumers have a more informed perspective on the range of the vehicles as it can affect their purchasing decision. Also availability of chargers.
Another suggestion for the reviews could be assessing the repairability of the vehicle over time. This could be in the style of a long term review. Most consumers aren't sure how long or expensive repairing the car would be nd I think it is important info that affects the purchasing decision of a vehicle.

I love this channel already and this style of reviews where you convey really well the feeling and exactly what you can expect from the vehicle with all of the important aspects, while not "rattling off spec sheets" so to speak.
On this pixel phone I like the overall color reproduction (image sharpnes/cleanness/noisiness not so much), the iPhone tends to switch to a weird color-space in certain lighting conditions, like in portrait in your previous video(s) (maybe it's the HDR making the image look flat-greyish/washed out/dull).

My wife and I have a model 3 standard range plus and are looking into getting a second EV. I'm 6'9" and fit in the model 3, but no adult can fit behind me. I fit comfortably in the EUV and my wife who is 5'9" can fit behind me with room to spare. Combine this with all the great features and you've got a great EV option. Our next purchase will be either this or the ionic 5. Just depends on availability in our area.

@@fynkozari9271 We haven't had any problems with it. We've had it for 3 years now and still love it. The only thing that we have noticed that sucks a bit is that the battery degrades over time, but from what I've heard that's inevitable. Max range used to be 240, now it's around 200. But other than that, no issues at all.

How do you fit in a Model 3? I'm 6'2" and couldn't use the steering wheel because it doesn't go up. My knees were hitting it.
@@iali00 I'm pretty sure it does. Granted, I haven't adjusted my seat settings in 3 years for my driver profile, so I haven't done it in a while, but I think you can bring the wheel closer/further as well as up and down. I'm pretty much at the extent of all settings. Seat is as low as possible, almost as far back as possible, etc.
marques and crew are just so good at content creation, and differentiating what they produce when compared to others in the category. there’s a standard formula when reviewing cars, and the other car reviewers have that down to the t, but marques and co seem to be able to use the formula, but some how throw in a different flavor.
I've had a 2017 original model Bolt for the last year or so and its the best car I've ever owned, even with the battery recall issue, but now after the replacement battery was installed I now have basically a brand new car with a renewed 10 year warranty. The Chevy Bolt is one of the most accessible EVs out there and makes a fantastic commute car, its great for uber drivers, etc. Fortunately the mechanics of the vehicle are much better quality than the interior materials. :). Its nice to see the Bolt get some love.
Great review! We have the EUV Premier with the Sun and Sound Package and it is a great little car. Between the price adjustment and incentives, it was a no-brainer. We also own a Model 3, I can say that our EUV is a great around-town car and does everything well.
Thanks for sitting in the back seat! So hard to tell how much space you get from photos. Had to return a 2017 Ford Focus Electric I tried out because I couldn't even fit my toddler in the back seat. Seriously considering going for the EUV. Love the channel man!
Late comment, but wanted to add that you're correct in front wheel drive being more optimized for regen. The motor also uses a hairpin style permanent magnet motor, which is very efficient at lower speeds. These two features combined make the Bolt EV and EUV hyper efficient for town and city driving. You'll get closer to 300 miles range in good weather in the city.

I have a Bolt and can tell you with conservative city driving, which lets face it is really what this car is made for it is very easy to exceed EPA rated range by as much as 50 - 100 miles. Since I got my new battery last January I have averaged 5.3 miles per KWH and that includes an occasional highway run. The only knock on the car is the slow DFC charge rate of 50KW. In fact if they had bumped up the charge rate on the EUV I might have upgraded my 2019 for a new EUV.
How much was the new battery??

5.3 miles per KWh is 179 MPGe, which is insane considering the EPA rating is only 120 MPGe, damn!
@@jamalpc5012 Yeah, all Bolts older than a year or two are getting new batteries under the recall. Many of them have already, actually. It’s pretty sweet for people with older Bolts like mine (a 2017 model) because now it has a little more range than it did when it was brand new!
As far as fuel economy, you can get 5.3 mi/kWh if you drive less than maybe 50 MPH, and you don’t use heat or AC. In fact, under ideal conditions, I’ve gotten as high as 5.7 mi/kWh (= 192 MPGe)! However, you have to be prepared to get far lower efficiency when it’s winter and you use the heat, or you drive 75 MPH on the interstate. That’ll cut the fuel economy in half sometimes. At the end of the day, if you have a car that gets 60 MPGe at its worst, and almost always over 100 MPGe when it’s not cold, that’s pretty damn good. 👍🏼
I think these mandatory slow charging vehicles may end up lasting longer because you aren't asking the most from the battery all the time like a typical fast charger would.

i would say probably 95% of the time people are not using DC fast charging. they're really only meant for road trips, and most people are just fine never using one and charging at home with either an installed charger or one just connected to a 240v outlet.
That selection dial thing looks awesome for selecting stuff while driving. Hate to use a touch screen in that situation.
I loved the EUV, but the slow charging was the reason I sold it after 18 months and got a Model 3. The EUV is a great car. I would recommend it to anyone who needs an around-the-town car.

Bolt EUV is a great car with no compromises. It seems to me that it is more functional (less about looks) and sensibly priced -and that gets held against it!
But how long to charge from 15-100%? It it faster than filling up gasoline 50 litres?
@@fynkozari9271 By charging at home, you just wake up with a full “tank”. Any time saved in filling up 50 liters of gas is easily made up 10x by not having to go to the gas station. If you don’t have a way to conveniently charge overnight, then it can get more annoying.
@@lawbinson but what about the lithium ion? It's fire 🔥 hazard, it can burn entire house down while charging. Not environment friendly, very hard to extinguish. It's not suitable for hot weather. Especially Tesla, 2022 most unreliable. The repair price is too expensive.

I own a 2019 Bolt (EV) - that consumption data has (as far as I can tell) always been available. I do love this car. It's so good.
2:49 You’re right that DC fast charging tops out around 50-55 kW, but *it takes MUCH longer than 30 minutes to charge 10-80%.* It’s more like 60-75 mins.
I drive the 2017 Bolt EV and every version since then has the same charging limit (including 2023 Bolt EUV). It’s not a problem at all when you drive less than about 150 miles in a day, but when you go on a longer trip…it will test your patience.
Overall, I love my Bolt! Hoping to switch into an Equinox EV someday, which would be a little bigger and DC fast charge up to 150 kW. 👍🏼
Marques greatly deemphasized the slowness of the fast charging. Positive reviews are more rewarding to content creators, and that’s how they make a living.

Definitely gonna need a video on the 2023 Prius Prime once it's out! The press release info is promising and it looks great, I think you can get a lot of people into buying that and shifting over to a plug in hybrid car.
And no worries about range anxiety! I think efficient hybrids that can do 50 mpg or more makes sense over full electric!
I'm reaaaaally tempted by the Bolt but have grievances with Chevy, holding out for the plugin Prius

@@rogermartinez78 I think electric is good with a 2 car family. One person has a hybrid and the other electric. I got a Ford Maverick hybrid and it's fantastic. Some trips I have averaged 52 mpg! My last fill up was 12 gallons and I got 600 miles out of that.

I got an EUV in August and couldn't be happier. What you get for the price just can't be beat. I even did a short (600 mile) road trip, and while the slower charging isn't ideal I was able to time it to meal breaks and it wasn't as bad I thought it might be.
Facts. After bathroom, dine, or run an errand while charging can be doable in order to maximize time.
We feel the same about our EUV. For a regional (1 stop) road trip it's perfectly fine. Time it with lunch/dinner and you won't even notice. I wouldn't want to do more than 1-2 stops for road trips, but it's utility as a city/commuter vehicle is pretty much unmatched.

I owned a Chevy Volt and can honestly say I never want to own a GM vehicle again. I received the car with no heat (took GM 4 months to fix), electrical problems, charge door would get stuck, engine achieved just 20mpg, etc etc. The worst part was GM’s response to my requests to fix. It was like I was a bother to them. They treated me very poorly and I had to obtain counsel before GM would take it back under breach of contract, giving me 75% of the value of the vehicle. GM then shipped the vehicle to Canada, which seemed odd to me. Why ship a vehicle a thousand miles away when you could fix it and sell it locally? I later found out in Canada, the manufacturer doesn’t have to reveal past problems, litigation, etc. Never again.
I OWN this car in AZ with now 8700 miles, and on full charge my range is avg 265 miles and top end 330 miles, exclusively drive in Sport Mode (smoother decel in OPD) and Fast Charger works at 150kwh, not bad, but using the included level 2 charger ($750 value) easily tops off nicely on off peak hours at home - our level 2 outlet was installed free of charge by GM. Love the dash, choose priority display items, I like my tire pressures because EV’s are particular about tire changing, love the heated steering wheel and seats!
And the 200hp off the line will beat almost everything from the light, very fun!
My only complaint, extremely stiff suspension, seems NO shocks or struts at all, you feel everything you drive over. Has anyone else noticed this, or could I have an issue?
I added air to my tires to be sure they at spec, but still very stiff ride, with the amount of in city driving I do daily, this is a major disappointment.
Anyone know how I may upgrade the suspension on an EUV?
That charger came with the car worth $250 not $700. The265 mile range is more like 210 miles in the fall and 160 miles in the winter. The top 330 miles is a joke. No one can achieve that mileage. But AZ generally has better temperature for EVs.
This may be my next car (WFH, short trips, 2nd family car). Kind of exactly what I need at a great price, wonder how stock and mark-up is going to sit over the coming few months.
