  • We spent 2 yummy days in Lafayette Louisiana. They have amazing food!
    I added Lafayette to our cross country adventure after talking to a couple at the Continental Divide in Yellowstone. They said if we were going to Louisiana we should go to Lafayette for the food, that was some of the best advice we ever got. Everything we ate was so delicious. Besides the food, the culture history drew me to Lafayette as well, I love learning about different cultures and the Vermillion Living History Museum was a great place to be introduced to Cajuns and their history.

    Poche’s RV park was owned And started by My Grandfather years ago. My uncle sold it a few years ago. It’s nice to see it on TH-cam videos from time to time
    I grew up here and it was the best trines of my life

      Oh wow that’s so cool your grandfather started Poche’s! The first thing I thought was what a great place it was for families so I can only imagine how much fun you had growing up in the area. What an awesome experience for you.

    Lafayette is where I was born and raised. My family is all still there. This made me very homesick! Glad you got to eat at Old Time Grocery and Borden’s! Those are two of my favs!

      Aww, to make you homesick. What a special place to grow up, I hope you will be able visit your family soon. Lafayette really made an impression on us and I would love to go back and visit again, in the meantime I have been trying to figure out how to recreate Old Time Grocery's meatballs :)

      A friend of mine, originally from Lafayette, invited me on a week long trip to visit his old friends. I’m from the east coast. I loved Lafayette. I’m thinking about revisiting.

    Lived there for about 3 years in the late 70s, early 80s. If I wasn't on a rig I was in the Gaslight 3. I remember eating at Soups in Milton and going to (Cowgirls?) after the other bars closed. our apartment was off Eraste Landry and we'd take a keg to the pool on a Saturday. Pretty soon people were showing up with grills, food, music and everything else. It was a great time.

      On that trip we visited multiple cities in 12 different states, and Lafayette had the best food out of all of them!

      Thank you. If you get a chance try Buck & Johnny’s in Breaux Bridge, we still talk about our meal there…oh but Olde Tyme Grocery was so good too…I guess you really won’t go wrong at any restaurant you choose there. I hope you have a great trip.

    Did you rent bikes near there? If so, where do we rent them? I am going there in a few days and would love to do that. ❤

      We brought our own and also rented one in West Yellowstone, but each entrance town has bike rentals I believe.

    Where was that bike trail at?

    • @scheduledadventures
      @scheduledadventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      The name of the bike trail is Atakapas-Ishak Trail. It’s a really short trail, we got on it at the end of Fisher Road at the Vermillion Histotic Village and took it to East University Avenue.

      It’s about 10-15 miles from downtown Lafayette, in the town of Breaux Bridge. It’s called Poche’s RV Park & Fish-N-Camp 1080 Sawmill Hwy, Breaux Bridge. I loved it there, it was a very unique layout, very family friendly, but also very peaceful in the mornings and evenings. It’s definitely on my list of my favorite campgrounds.
