Carencro Class of 1982 ~ I love Carencro. We lived on St. Peter near Carencro Highway for years. I remember Paul's one of my brothers worked that.
The circus came through and an elephant died. It brought buzzards from everywhere, thus, Carrion Crow became, Carencro.
The Detour to the bike 🚴🏻 store is amazing! That wooden bike is something else!

@@DetourswithJeff hard to recognize. everytime I go back, something changes. Crazy. Used to fields that are now wal marts and strip malls…and you actually have to stop at the Carencro exit when we used to just yield. 😂

Lived in Carencro from 1977 to 1983 before moving to Alabama. We lived on Auburn drive in what used to be called the Markridge subdivision. I remember a little store called La Botique a Roy right on main street, The only places to eat were the Bear's Den Drive In next to the Catholic School where we used to play Asteroids and Pac-Man after school, a crawfish place called Rocky's (I think) on main street and that was about it. They opened a burger place over in the old downtown part of town no long before we moved. We moved right before I started high school. Back then you went to Carencro Heights Elem through the 5th grade then moved to the middle school for 6th, 7th, and 8th. My 6th grade year was in the old, original middle school with no AC. They were building the new school and we moved in my 7th grade year.
I remember a lot of that thou I’m a couple years behind you. Mark ridge is still there. Had its ups and downs.
I was there at that time to.
No bro, class of 87 was the best. I was friends with Chad Lyons. It was very said. He and two other of our classmates were killed in a car accident the last day of school that year. Thank you for bringing back memories.
I remember the stories about Chad. Some of my older friends knew him well

You can travel to Vatican,La. Get to it from Ira st. Take left at T intersection,follow the road (mills) ,1 right turn before you get to 4 way stop at Gloria switch. Must warn you there is no Pope in Vatican. You can go to the 4 way stop once you go through Vatican, Hwy 93. Take right and go to Cankton. Was once the Rooster fighting capitol of the south.
Me too born and raised in Carencro. Carencro,at one time had a hotel down the street from the old Richard Hardware store that is vacant now,going towards the old Pat's tire. The one block that the old hardware store is on when traveling to old Pat's tire direction,when road shifts to the left,look to your immediate right,there is a old house that use to be 2 story Hotel for Railroad crew etc.
