This was very educational. I'm in process of rebuilding my shower. I've demo'd the old ceramic tile and cement board. Removed the alcove wall and shower pan. I've placed my new Onyx collection shower pan that's 36"x54" that is slightly larger than the old one. Installing a Delta Monitor Series 14 Ashlyn with hand- held sprayer and diverter.

That is the system that I show here. This diverter gave exactly that. The other diverter, not exactly sure if it is 5 or 6 position, is for a shower that has another showerhead unit. I hope that answers your question.
No problem. The one that I capped off was for a second set of shower head / wand. The bath / shower that this was installed in works just the way that you asked about. Good luck on your project.

How would you pipe it to have the 3 options (showerhead only, hand shower only and both head and hand)output on the diverter?
