I think it is sad to see that people don't understand the pressure of war, which also happend to romania and bulgaria, who where forced into the axis. I agree Petain was a traitor, but I also acknowledge that he too feared a repeat of the Great War, and so signed an armistice to save many lives. Unfortunately he became a puppet to the Nazi Party in the process.
That’s an oxymoron, how can he be a traitor while also being a hero for saving France from further occupation? Being a fascist doesn’t automatically make you bad, like all ideologies it’s a tool to be used however the leader sees fit. And he used it to keep France, well French and not Deustch.
