  • Here comes the History of Prussia from the first Balts that have settled in the region until 1935/47, when the Allies have abolished the state of Prussia.
Dark grey/Black : Territory of the state of Prussia.
Light grey : Prussian vassals or occupied territories.
If you may want to higher your knowledge about Prussia and its history, the best advice I could ever give you is to read Christopher Clark's book about it : Iron Kingdom - The Rise and Downfall of Prussia.
His book about how we got to WW1 is as astonishing aswell, read it too !
    -------------------------------------------
    Musics :
    Kevin Macelod - Crusade
    Prussian National Anthem.

At 3:59 It's alomost exact modern Poland, just without Krakow, Lublin and Podkarpacie. And with Königberg, Berlin and those german duchies.
So we can say this is Germany with barely any today's German land,
This is kind of funny how much a country can move throughout the history.

Prussia could’ve continued to exist if Kaliningrad Oblast was instead made the Prussian SSR within the Soviet Union, which would house any remaining Germans that didn’t leave as well as some displaced Volga Germans from the USSR.
My guess is they’d eventually gain independence as a Republic in 1990 or 1991, and would still exist today

I think your connection from the Baltic tribes to the German Prussia is a huge misconception which many don't understand.
The elector of Brandenburg used the province of Prussia, where a Baltic tribe has been Germanized and mixed up with German settlers,
as a chance to call his state a kingdom (König in Preußen, king in Prussia). Then later on they called it Brandenburg-Preußen and then only Preußen (Prussia).
But the heart and relevant state of "Prussia" was always Brandenburg and Berlin. Königsberg was only needed for symbolic reasons.
I don't see a legit reason to let the history of Prussia begin with an irrelevant Baltic tribe, rather than the early Hohenzollern and the rise of Brandenburg.
    No flaming, just direct criticism^^
