I would suggest you buy rjm’s parallel box and run the mobius/timeline/bigsky in stereo parallel into that and then back into the return for loop 5, or otherwise incorporate a parallel. I had a very similar board built around the 6x that I moved away from due to lack of parallel and more loops. But with your board I think parallel stereo effects is the only thing you might miss (ie running delays and reverbs in parallel). That or get a duophony and run the timeline and big sky after the mobius into them.
I have another board I'm playing with right now that has the Jet Pedals Red Sea on it and I'm using it for running my delay and reverb in parallel. It's so fun!
Thank you for sharing your pedalboard and signal flows. Your pedalboard is awesome! I have a small pedalboard and try to make a fit guitar tone for Sunday worship service. My signal flow: Guitar- buffer - Jackson Audio Prism - Jackson Audio Bloom(comp & EQ always on) - Ryra klone - Jan ray klone(with boost - I can set up for either gain boost & volume boost) - Browne protein OD - Lehle volume pedal - Ruby 63 - Timeline - Bigsky -> Stereo out Questions: 1. If you have Ryra - Jan ray klone - Protein OD, how would you set them up? (i.e. gain level, output level, etc.) 2. Is there a big difference to place ruby before the modulation pedals or after the modulation pedals? and which placement do you prefer? I know those questions are very basic stuff for others, but I really need any help to a set fit tone for my worship service. Please give me your feedback whenever you have a time Again, thank you for sharing a great video for us : )
If you’re on Instagram, send me a message @thetoneshepherd I’d love to chat through this with you. But it would probably be more helpful with pictures! But I did talk about in my video how I organize my overdrives. Each stage is a little more drive and a little more volume. In your case I’d likely set the Jan Ray as the first stage (slight breakup), probably the blue side of the Protein as the second stage drive and then set the Green side of the protein as a boost to the blue side as your third stage (so both sides are on together). Then use the Klone and/or the boost on the Jan Ray as an optional boost. As far as how to order these I’d say that’s personal preference. But probably Jan Ray > Protein > Ryra (used as a boost). Personally, I’d keep all the effects in front of the Ruby and let the Ruby come last.
Nice presentation here! New Subscriber. Love the name too. I put my Quad Cortex on a PedalTrain board a few months back. I did it to use my Andy Timmons Halo and a few other pedals I like. I play at church. Your build here is a monster! I do have the CIOKS DC7 with the Crux to power my QC. I also have the Strymon Cloudburst. I run the Cloudburst and the Halo through the effects loops 1 and 2. I play at Church so everything is very mild. Fender type tones. God bless and I look forward to learning from you.
Thanks a ton for the sub Brian! The QC is an amazing piece of gear for sure. It was definitely the direction I was headed before the ToneX pedals came out. And I think as Neural keeps updating it, the QC will continue to get better and better. But using the Cloudburst and Halo in the loops is the way to go!
@@thetoneshepherd Thanks for that good feedback man! Yes I am not thrilled with the lack of updates on the QC. In fact part of why I put it on a board was to distract myself from some frustration with it. A hybrid setup is definitely to me the best of both worlds. My needs are pretty simple. I pretty much leave the QC on one setting and have some tweakability with the pedals. I recently ordered the Strymon Brig. I also have the Keeley Compressor Plus and his AT Super Mod that just came out. Keep up the good work here!
@@BrianVallotton Love it! Yeah, my plan with the QC was pretty thwarted when I realized they didn’t have a good MIDI implementation. I really wanted to build a hybrid rig around it but because you couldn’t send multiple MIDI messages per scene, that put an end to that. But it’s absolutely something I think they will address in the future. I just wish they did updates faster.
@@thetoneshepherd The Tonex was a good choice. Essentially it covers the Amp and cabs side and then you add as you want just like you have done. I learned that I do love the capacity to just dial in sounds on a real pedal. I didn’t really know that about myself!
Thanks for sharing so much into how you put your board together. I'm in the process of making a new praise & worship board and a lot of what you've shown I'm interested in doing myself. I like that you designed it such that you can plug in your mains from either side of the board. My question is how did you make that work? Did you use some kind of splitter or special cable so power can be routed from either of two different sources? Basically, I have three power supplies I can chain together, but not sure where to go from there. Thanks again 🙂
Glad you liked it! As far as the power goes, it's quite simple, I just spliced together a few power cables. Green to green, black to black, white to white. Nothing more to it than that!
I'm an electrician at a local manufacturing facility, so I wire and loom things for a living. That underside is giving me nightmares! XD XD I'd get fired for stuff like that... But, it's also multi-million dollar machines so I don't blame them for wanting it to look good in the electrical shelf even though it's not very likely to be opened up once it's in service. And the whole not running high voltage and low voltage in parallel, you can do it, but you have to give a couple of inches of space between the two looms. Otherwise, the high voltage will interfere with low voltage and you'll get noise, static, weird disruptions, stuff like that.
Haha, well, this wasn't the final wiring. This was just my initial layout...though I'm not sure you'd approve of my final version either lol. Here's what it looks like all completed. Hey I am looking to build another board right now around the PBC6X. Are all your Strymons in the same loop? Are you turning them on and off in loop section or by midi? I'm confused on what kind of cable to use..TRS out of PBC to Strymon or some kind of split cable? Any recommendation?! I plan to cut and solder even though I've never done it lol
Hey Andre! Have you watched my full pedalboard overview? I give more details on that stuff there. But yes, all my wet effects are going through one stereo loop in the PBC. And I turn them on/off by midi. And yes, the cable you need is shown in other parts of this video series th-cam.com/video/tB8uT75n3LY/w-d-xo.html
May I ask for a link to buy the side panel's power (9V DC) that you use to power the audition pedals? Are you able to simply plug your Zuma to the inside to power the module?
I’ve provided a pdf in my description with links to all the parts. I believe that one is listed but let me know if not. But you do have to cut/strip/solder one of the Zuma cables to the back of that jack unfortunately.
Looks awesome! How do you mute your signal? I am using a good wood audio interfacer, but I just am not sure I need it anymore now that I have the RJM pbc 10
Greetings. Love this video! I was wondering why you have the wet effects in a loop? If at least one is always on, couldn’t you have them after the pbc6x (to free up a loop) or is there an advantage I haven’t considered? Cheers.
Great question! I did it for two reasons 1) So that I can easily bypass all of my wet effects when testing the tone of just my dry signal. 2) So that I can route my wet effects post amps if I want for a particular sound or moment.
As always, a swift polite and informative reply! Legend. While I have you, do you ever use splitter cables from your power supply? I’m thinking of powering my three (non midi) pedals one Cioks output. I’m keen to have a quiet rig, so I could get a bigger supply but I wondered what your experience is.
I appreciate that David! I have tried splitting power between a few devices in years past but not recently. I’d imagine if you chose to power things like your tuner and some other utility pedals using one outlet you could do that without much consequence…but perhaps someone with more electrical knowledge could give a concrete answer. I always just try it and see what happens haha
How do i get those mods you have on the side those are third party correct? I dont see that on the temple audio site. Mainly looking for the usb ines that you control hx stomp with
Great question! I made a PDF with all those links that I dropped in the description. The Mod is the "Temple Audio Punched Plate Mod" and the USB jack I used is linked in that PDF as well. But you can get it from a variety of different places. Just Google "USB D Panel". Any "D" type jack will work in this punched plate. Hope that helps!
I know. I know. It’s not “light.” But the case rolls very easily and it’s not as much of a pain to go from place to place as you may think. It’s still lighter than any of my amps haha.
Great series, subbed. Did I understand correctly that you used velcro instead of the Temple Audio mounts? Any particular reason? Also, does the Tonex pedal play nicely with overdrive pedals? I found that most modelers by nature responds differently on overdrive pedals, but some do great. Do you have examples of pedal that work the best? I,m guessing all of them on your board, but like to here your thought. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks a ton for the sub! Yes, I use Dual Lock. The Temple mounts are solid but very much limit what and where you’re able to mount stuff under the board since the screws pop through.
