I USUALLY DO THE TRIED AND TRUE JIGS AND VERTICAL EGG SINKER RIGS, WITH A FIDDLER CRAB OR A PIECE OF BLUE CRAB OR A NICE PIECE OF CUT CLAM!
I'VE BEEN USING A "SWINGING" JIGHEAD FOR YEARS THAT I GET OFF EBAY. BUT, I DECIDED I'D BY THE FOOTBALL SWINGING JIG DO-IT MOLD AND MAKE SOME MYSELF.

MY FAVORITE I MADE I WITH THE SHORT SHANK WORM HOOK. FOR A SOFT PLASTIC LIKE MY "FISHBITES FIGHT CLUB SCENTED BAITS".......OR JUST ANOTHER FAVORITE. A GIANT DEAD SHRIMP WITH HEAD PEELED OFF RELEASING ALL THAT SMELL.
LET ME KNOW IF YOU TRY THESE AND ARE SUCcESSFUL.

I SOLD the molds, inserts and all the hooks...didn't like them all that much for charter customers (#1 priority) just as soon use a jighead or a egg sinker rig, for them. good idea, but....now I know. okay for most others, though.
I've been seeing these in tackle shops for awhile now. Never thought about using one for sheephead. Thanks!
yeah there's fan boys on FB...I upset them when I said, "Big deal, I'll make my own". Jig making people are never gonna make it big. I've seen them come and go. Anyone can do it. I sold a bunch of extra's I made and have even sent some out in contests. I like them more for just another presentation, with a short worm hook, even. I'm not a huge "sheepshead fid dangler". I pour my own sinkers. So why not make other things.

thanks for the tips. I am headed down that way April 2 at Ochlockonee River State Park for a couple days and headed west from there. Gona try to catch what ever bites but learning all I can.

Capt. Dave, you're right about shrimp, everything worth bending a rod for will eat it from croaker to cobia. However, when summer comes here in the panhandle, the pinfish and hardheads take over and eat 'em time they hit the water. Live bait, (pilchards, pogies, bull minnows, pinfish, fiddlers and snails) are king then for trout, reds, flounder and sheepshead. By the way, if that molten lead splatter lands on your bare leg, it'll make you squeal like a little girl and leave you a nice little tatoo - Capt. Ray.
I get burned all the time....no biggy. A real Tattoo hurts more. I have many ink mistakes....hahahaha. Oh man, this area is ate up with crap fish. Yes, in the summer the shitfish, "all one word", are terrible beyond comprehension. Thats why I hate summer!!!!

Nice jigs very similar to the ear-ball jig which i make! The difference is a splitring is used on a earball which allows u to change hook size and type single shank or treble! Ive personally watched convicts chase down my orange earball with a no.4 treble tipped with squid and wack it pretty hard🤣🤣🤣
I could add that, but if you're REALLY sheepshead fishing, ""less is more", because you'll be just losing the jig anyhow to structure.
Capt Daves Sportfishing Charters oh for sure on losing the jig, thats all part of the fun and why i make about 5-8 dozen jigs a winter! I live in wi but when ever i go visit the salt u can bet im bringing my jigs with! Its satisfying when u can catch a bunch of different species of saltwater fish on the same jigs u used on walleyes .ect back home
tackle wise, there's no huge difference between inshore coastal saltwater and freshwater...excluding the 'Marlin tackle', musky and katfisherman use, for such 'do-nothin', fish

hooks, mold, and inserts available on ebay total, about $60 bucks. I'm not getting into selling them. This was just a FYI video. May give some more away in the future contest.
To make jigs come out easier. Light a candle and hold it near each hole (both sides of the mold) and soot them up. Free and simple. Only need to do it about every 6 months.

Try a making a dropper loop at the very bottom with another dropper loop for ur hook and with the bottom loop attach you weight with a tiny rubber band that my daughter uses to tie her hair that way when I get hung up the rubber band breaks not the leader

Whats out there biting right now.. Im thinking about a charter when the mullet start running again.. I usually fish the banks at the little Jetties Huguenot sisters Creek... Ben slow except for a few flounder

Great vid and nice work. Like to come up and go out with you for some Reds and SheepHeads. I just use #1 hooks. Some time if a I run out I will go to a 1/0. What size hooks are you putting on and do you sell the pack of swing jigs ?

Have you ever tried staking these say 1 oz then 12 inch then 1 oz or 3/4 oz Then. See how they hit bottom . maybe they lay 12 inch part on bottom? Thank you. Don't know the date I would try a pack and give feedback
you didn't read the comments...."the meat and potatos'' of any video. I didn't like them and sold the mold and inserts and hooks to a fishing club member. NOT a better mouse trap for me.

@@redwood1957 YEP, the TH-cam app is about as useless as a app can be for learning anything. I fight it daily as a TH-camr. People miss out on so much, versus a real computer. I'm a 57 year old non-app user. I own two laptops with high speed internet. I answer call and make them thats about it and swipe credit cards on it from charter customers, thats it. Give me a old motorola flip phone and I'd be happier!

10-4.....the sheeps craze is over. surprised to even see a new comment on this video. my take after alot of use. not that much of a new mouse trap. I do just fine using a jig head. and was one of the first ever to cast jigs and fiddlers/live shrimp at the jetty rocks in these parts, back 25 years ago. I do love a egg with swivels on them, though!!
