      How about using a drop shot rig for sheepshead? It seems like it would be a good rig for the fish.

    Twisty knot = Clinch knot 😁

    Awesome thanks for the rigging tips. We'll have to try them next time we're around the bridges.

    What size hooks should I use? Are sheepshead bottom feeders, or mid level? I catch grunts and snapper the most where I fish. I don’t know much about sheeps.

      Anthony G size 4 j hook and they hang out in bottom and mid way.

    Question why do you need a swivel on the line? Why cant you just have everything on one line? I'm heading to marco Island ne t week for crab and sheepshead fishing

    • @KyleForAwhile
      @KyleForAwhile  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brent Hoadley you need the swivel to hold the weights if you’re not using a pinch weight. If you’re using a pinch weight then you can tie a uni to uni knot.

    The problem with the fisherman's knot is that it cuts itself off under a lot of pressure. Uniknot is a big upgrade

    Another great video, keep up the good work bro. All the advice is awesome. Kinda difficult to see what your doing. Clear line on a wood desk has poor contrast. Maybe demonstrate with some Ande Green Envy? Just a suggestion.

    Can you use a uni knot??

    • @Snookchaser007
      @Snookchaser007 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes however the uni has a tendency to break fluorocarbon at the knot but the good news is you don’t need to buy that expensive fluorocarbon as monofilament clear leader works just fine I’ve been catching fish on it for my whole life with great success and you can use stren clear to save money over buying “leader” it has beat the supposedly leader material in abrasion tests

      @@Snookchaser007 thanks and yes makes sense why my knot broke on my first tarpon a few weeks ago. Thick line at that.

  • @specfever2
    @specfever2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If sheepshead are such light biters, why have the sinker so far from the book? (Carolina rigs same way). It seems the leader will float around and hard to detect bite. But hey, almost everyone uses some rig like this so I'll take your word.

      The Salt Strong channel has been doing many line and knot tests and has been surprising us all with the results. Like the FG knot used on 10 lb braid holding to 20 lbs and the modified Uni knot holding so much also. The issue is to get our line to not cut itself at the knot. Great info.
