We use 1oz but now they are made in heavier molds - so I would recommend 1oz to 3oz for different depths and currents

I live in Ohio and it's blast to sit inside the house and watch you guys catch fish. It helps winter go by so nice. Keep up the fishing. For us that can only dream of doing that
This was one of the most informative videos I’ve ever watched. Definitely catching sheep’s head next time I’m out in biscayne bay
I'm in East Texas and planning to go do some fishing out there on the coast. Thanks for the information. Definitely got my like and support. Much love and support for this fella.
Thank you for the great video. Best of luck to you all. Rockport, Texas
Lots of helpful information.
Appreciate the links in the description as well as the fully detailed guide, earned my sub!
First off, kudos for a great video showing where to find sheepshead, what tackle to use, and what the best baits are. I didn't know about using fiddler crabs. I am a little surprised there was no mention of how hard these guys are to snag. (But I guess there is a limit to how much information you can disseminate in one video.) Sheepshead eat mollusks and crabs, so they don't hit hard like trout, redfish, or flounder. They have a pharyngeal plate specifically designed for crushing small, hard-bodied invertebrates; i.e., their mouths are small and bony. They will sit on your bait and slowly nibble on it and you won't feel a thing. I have reeled in plastic sandcrabs with teethlike marks on the bait where they have nibbled it away right up to the hook. You have to hold the tip rod up, set your drag to almost free run. A heavy action rod is a must. It took me several fishing trips to get to the point where I stopped feeding sheepshead and started catching them. Use 1/0 circle hooks or smaller.
Since their mouths are so bony I can't use circle hooks. I have to be able to set the hook, and a circle just pulls out.
Pro tip size down your hooks when fishing sheep... increased my hook set rate majorly
To what’s size friend?
@@bloodOntheStep I caught a bunch of big ones offshore with size 2 j hooks
Another great video. Missed you guys the last couple weeks. We
Best sheepshead tutorial I’ve seen, thanks so much
Got my limit on sheepshead last week at south padre island TX at the jetties with a poping cork and a 4ft leader live shrimp was key. Good to see u all and keep them lines tight fishing family
Right on!
I always get white fish and a few stingrays off shrimp from the dock there. When is the best time to get sheepshead at SPI?
Thank you guys. I will try these ideas at the OBX this fall. Appreciate it!
Thank you for the video. My hunt continues to catch one in NY.
miss fishing for sheepheads...use to do that a lot when i was stationed at Corpus Christi TX. Now i'm in Orlando FL and plan to go fishing for them at Sebastian Inlet end of Oct 2021
Thanks for this I’m doing a fishing comp against my cousin ME NEED THIS!! 💙🐠
🤣
Thanks for the info. moving to Charleston with a kayak, looking forward to fishing! Subscribed and a thumbs up!
At NOB working lookin down from the submarine caught a glimps of one!
Thanks guys. This is very helpful
that's great your wife likes fishing too and knows a lot
Here in SC when I do the double drop off the pier all I get with shrimp is Damned whiting!
Fisher Bro #1: that shrimp is so small
Fisher Bro #2: that’s what sheepshead...
Ok that’s the greatest joke ever
😭
Awesome video, thanks for sharing, God bless you both and happy fishing, I have subscribed to your channel and please keep the great videos coming
Great video
Super video! Keep them coming! I could use a little more details on hooks. Which for which type of rigs?
I’ve caught monsters on live shrimp but 1/4 blue crabs and fiddlers are less likely to be stolen by bait snatchers. I plan on targeting Sheepshead more this year, last year it was mostly drum, trout and deep sea species. This year it’s more Sheepshead and flounder for me.
WRV. Good info
Thanks for the excellent tips. Down here in Naples I saw them in big schools perusing the beach. Don't have money for a cast net. Do these same principles apply fishing from beach. What's best way to catch the crabs in the mangroves?
Excellent video!!
Very good video
Very nice.
Great videos man!
Good informative video.
Thank you!
Yoooo! Good stuff man!
My man!! Can't wait for this summer getting together!!
@@1fish2fish10 same here bro!
Is there any way to catch sheepshead and spades from shore are there any bridge piling spots from shore
Nice
I have caught em by the bucket full in FL! I would use smaller gear when possible! When you are fishing rivers and jetties vs the ocean you are going to have to downsize big time!
need a still of that big one!
Nice opening at Lesner Bridge I was fishing there last night
Sheepshead taste how fish are supposed to taste
I live in Mobile Alabama when in the best month for sheepshead? 👌
This video has been around for a while, but ya'll should know that in many states it is illegal to harvest whole stone crabs. You are supposed to keep a claw (if you want), but release the crabs (which will grow another one).
Fids are the best bait imo
Hi. Sand fleas don’t bite. Best storage is in dry sand in a gallon-sized bucket. I personally use a #2 circle or kagel hook. Hook the fleas through their under side first and bring the hook out through the shell.
Sheepheads fish eat crab shrimps fiddler crabs stone crab .... I wouldn't mind to go fishing I mean I got to eat Bluefish🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟 my favorite flavor.....wow
Where is that particular place where you make this video under the bridge what’s the name
Great video, im coming to visit family this coming weekend and ill be bringing my Hobie 360. Where is a good launch and where do you recommend starting to look for the sheepheads on the CBBT?
Do they see wire leaders??
Is that the Lesner bridge?
So they like to stay close to structure such as bridge?
Which of the 3 set up you think it works better?
Great video I'm learning to become a good salt fisherman. I'm guessing that you do Boxing , Right? I don't mean Kristy.
If I want to go with my kayak to the Chesapeake bridge what ram I should use?
When using the bottom sweeper jigs, what size hook do you recommend?
Can you use the artificial gulp crab bait?
Hey guys. I’ve heard that sand fleas are to be hooked with “belly side” out bc the fish try to eat that part when they bite. Does this matter at all?
How close to shore will they get net to structure??
What rig is best for fishing in current from a boat?
Are they running in the Chesapeake bay yet??
Silly question but when you catch sand fleas to use them for bait do they bite do they have pincers I'm all brand new to this thank you for any advice from anyone
SHey George. Sand fleas don’t have pinchers and they don’t bite. They are easily stored in dry sand in a gallon-sized bucket. I personally use sand fleas on a Carolina rig with one ounce egg sinker, or float a sand flea under a popping cork...30” leader with #2 circle or kagel hook.
@@donaldledbetter9684 you seem knowledgeable regarding sand fleas. Do you know if they can be caught? Also have you ever tried the artificial sand fleas? Thanks!
@@hmanone1063 My wife and I typically catch sand fleas with a sand flea rake in the surf at low tide (in the summertime). We keep them in a bucket (1-1/2 gal with 1/4" holes drilled in it) with no water or sand. Occasionally, rinse the fleas in ocean water.
could you catch these off jennets pier in the outer banks
Yes.
Is this the guy from southern charm?
Are these all season?
Did you just buy some frozen blue crabs and cut them in pieces or did you get them alive. Reason I'm asking is because live blue crabs are expensive.
So crustation Shell fish?
small hook small weight small bobber. Live shrimp, toss right against a pilings. Instant hit.
I was starting get worried about y'all lol
Thumbs up
What are sheepheads bite like I’ve heard that it’s light but is it a tap
Ashe 958 it can be very light or they can just straight inhale it. In my experience it varies on how pressured the area is
Is it hard to catch them surf fishing from the beach at or near Jetty?
Jetty is where you want to be!
@@1fish2fish10 Thanks and Peace Out!
1. Abundant near pretty much any structure. 2. Almost constant action. 3. One of the tastiest.
So sheepshead are basically the bluegill of the ocean? 😂
1-2 ft of leader line for sheephead is at least 1 ft too much. Gotta use short leader 12” or less or you won’t feel em.
I always thought sheep’s head where junk fish
What fish finder GPS brand do u use On ur Boat ?
Knowing what the fish eat and where they eat tells you where the fish are. That's the fish finder. You watched the whole video and didn't listen.
Sealice work better in my opinion. I'll try crab again.
Lmao that at looks like Virginia Beach lesnar bridge….
Most sheeps on the CBBT are suspended at 20 to 25 feet. Dropping your bait straight to the bottom is only going to scare them away from my experience.
Yup always start shallow and drop in 5' increments has always worked best for me
@@luperconstruction3450 I have even noticed when you drop your bait down fast like that it can actually take your bait off the hook. I start at 10 feet and drop 5 feet like that. I don't waste more than 2 min at each piling. If they are there, they will bite in less than 10 secs.
@@jameshentz907 I've been fishing for sheepshead a lot, and I have noticed the same thing. But the place where I fish also has tons of buffer fish with almost the same bait techniques as sheepshead. So I usually end up lose more baits to those buffer fish then sheepshead.
@@tientran27890 what bait do you use for them. We don't have buffer fish here I don't think. Sometimes i will catch the occasional tog or seabass when using fiddlers.
james hentz i use wide variety of baits for sheepshead from sand fleas to fiddlee crabs to shrimps and barnacles. And they sure do love them all. Lol. I catch the baits by myself but the shrimps. It’s more fun and cheaper that way.
Don't use pyramid sinkers around rocks
1-2 foot leader on your C rig? More like 5 feet lol.
Can you give me location please
Funny how they went from being trash fish to one of the most tastiest fish in the sea.
Bri ish
Barnacles aren't yummy .lol
umm....ummm..umm.ummm...ummmm jesus lady
Don't took to M🤐
They have human teeth.
To much talking not enough fishing
Booooring talking head video...
Too much talking, just go fishing !!!
It's a how to video bro! If you already know everything, just go watch sheepshead fishing videos and avoid the "how to's".
Dalex is RIGHT on the money. This is all TOO common in these videos.
@stanleygrayson3186 You and dalex need to go look for fishing videos then, because this is a "how to" video. Or are neither of you sm@rt enough to read a video title?🤣
Since obviously neither of you are, may I suggest searching "sheepshead *_fishing"_* videos and not "how to ..."
Because I found this very helpful ...but then again, I have a brain.
Is it YOUR video NOT for BUILT? I guess you were and probably still be bullied huh little fella? You have to go on social to express your manhood. You never answered little fella,DOES your mom have a brain?
Poor little not for built still being bullied. My brain functions very well little fella and one of those functions is objectivity and maturity.
I trafficked so much weed across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge it ain’t funny. And I regret never going fishing while living in VA Beach 😣😣😣
Ya’ll are the best in Hampton Roads
