I bought the TurboGrafx-16 version of this game when it was first released! I cherish it to this day! Something about these Hudson Soft PC-Engine titles that have such a wild, colorful, Asian flair! I found the NES version years later and it's not half bad either! Hudson really pushed the NES hardware!
I decided to look up some examples. You are correct. The NES version does not look bad at all unless you compare it graphic wise to this version. They look like they play a bit differently, but both look like good games.
You are right Mark, this did make my day!...here I thought I had nothing to live for, but now I will dedicate my time to finding this game for one of my consoles, and I owe CGR for showing me this game I had no idea existed. I never knew Jackie Chan was anti-nature, beware of PETA Jackie, beware...
I was intrigued by this choice of game to review. It's a much different choice than usual for sure, but it looks like a pretty fun retro beat em up/platformer featuring Jackie Chan. Props for the unconventional game choice to review.
I've only played the NES version, and while it might not be the deepest, gameplaywise, it's one of my favorites on that platform. I think this one came out towards the end of the NES' lifespan, meaning that it looked and sounded absolutely great - a simplified, but in no way impoverished version of the PC Engine version. In some stages, you'd be forgiven to think your were playing JCAKF on a SNES
this game looks surprisingly wonderful. like, i dont think there's an asthetic or mechanical problem with this based on what i see here, and this is from an era when LJN was making nes games about celebrities and movies.
i must look into getting a tubro grafix 16, the games look great, my collection i getting out of control just by watching this show, i had nothing 2 years ago, now i have megadrive, snes, nes, n64, ps1/2/3. thanks for that mark!
Anyone else watch Cinemassacre's Monster Madness? He talked about Gamera which is a flying turtle monster that looks exactly like those things in this game.
This should be re-released with the title 'The day and the life of Jackie Chan' because every day Jackie Chan is fighting animals and shooting hadoukens.
that's so true he didn't look like jackie at all, even the big jackie chan's face at the start screen was weird, for me it looked like an old asian woman
Never get why so many people refer to this as the PC Engine, it was only called that in Japan it was called the Turbografx 16 everywhere else, well in western countries at least where most of TH-cam is from -_-
The NES version is almost untouchable for what it is was, it was just so ahead of it's time and probably the last swan song for the NES?! That's why it was such a profound game. The PC Engine is nice but something is kinda missing from it and if given a chance I'd still rather play the NES version! I just played Jackie Chan's Adventures on Game Boy Advance and I have to say that I was far from impressed when compared to this or the NES version...
Oh my god I played this as a kid! I completely forgot about it!
I think the music is better on NES actually, it has a certain awesome sound to it
Keep the TG-16/PC Engine reviews coming! They're great!
Love Jackie and love this game.
I miss out on a few CGR videos and he has a new awesome ass intro and a fucking car in the back ground. This is why I love this man.
I remember the NES version, pretty awesome...

You should review Jackie Chan Stuntmaster !
Mark, that map thing you do... so simple... AND YET SO AMAZING!!!
Wait, Jackie Chan is riding on small Gameras?
That two kinds of awesome all in one!
Always great to see a throwback review to a game I played
What's funny is that a lot of what we consider to be NES classics were ported over to the PC Engine/Turbo Grafx and the Genesis/Mega Drive
I loved this game in the NES, the music and gameplay is great!
the voice overs for that game were hilarious though.
I decided to look up some examples. You are correct. The NES version does not look bad at all unless you compare it graphic wise to this version. They look like they play a bit differently, but both look like good games.
There was a FamiCom version. One of the best titles that came out from our era.
Thankfully it's in my collection too. Great game!
I've got the NES version, it's fun and challenging!
I love this game on the NES! I didn't know it was also on the PC-Engine. I need to play this version!
My sensei told stories of how legendary this game was....
Never played this but I used to play the hell out of Jackie Chan Adventures on GBA. Good times.
That looks, well fun. The best thing a game could ever be is fun.
Hey Mark, do you do voice overs?
As soon as I saw the turtle shells, the MST3K version of the Gamera song started playing in my head.
If you love shoot em ups. Turbo Garfx 16 has probably the largest library for them. That's my system of choice when I feel like playing a shmup.

I have this for NES, it's one of my favorite NES games!
Everything Jackie makes (that is not made in America) is AWESOME!! :D
I've played the NES version, and it's also quite fun. I keep meaning to check out the Jackie Chan game on the PS1 as well.
did they port this version to the nes version? looks similar to the nes version.
Never heard of Loco Roco? It's a psp title and an extremely cheerful one at that.
@4:52 Cool! I can see my hometown.
Man, the PC Engine does some sweet tunes.
We want a game room tour PLEASE!
It was his sister =)
Ahh, Hudson Soft..
You should review Jackie Chan's Stuntmaster for the PSOne. That game is a Jackie Chan classic!
Does not run well I take it? It looks a bit too advanced for the NES to run it well, but I do not know from experience.
this game looks surprisingly wonderful. like, i dont think there's an asthetic or mechanical problem with this based on what i see here, and this is from an era when LJN was making nes games about celebrities and movies.
If you want a modern happy feel game, you might wanna check out Tobe's Vertical Adventure on steam.
"Jackie Chan, riding the Log Jammer."
Jackie Chan went to Kennywood!
i must look into getting a tubro grafix 16, the games look great, my collection i getting out of control just by watching this show, i had nothing 2 years ago, now i have megadrive, snes, nes, n64, ps1/2/3. thanks for that mark!
Awesomeness Chan-style. And PC Engine looks great.
I love that game. Used to play the NES version wich is a really good port.
Now we need a review of stuntmaster, which was also a good game
I don't know how many times I've completed this game on the NES. :-)
Man... the graphics looks amazing for the time when 8bit was the norm
Anyone else watch Cinemassacre's Monster Madness? He talked about Gamera which is a flying turtle monster that looks exactly like those things in this game.
oh snap CGR time!!
I just beat the NES version yesterday and you put this up today...Idk man, somethings up. I kinda don't feel safe in my own home anymore.
Hey Mark, you should try Summer Carnival '92 RECCA on the 3DS Virtual Console.
I think I like everything here.
Here's hoping Mark reviews Jackie Chan Stuntmaster (PlayStation) and Jackie Chan Adventures: Legend of the Dark Hand (GBA) soon.
why not MegaDrive / Genesis version! i really need to get a PCE
Character details remind me of "Crows the battle for Sega Saturn" Mark do a review of that one too :D
I have heard of loco roco, that's why I suggested it
you know I heard once that Gamera is really neat, and is full of turtle meat.
wonder if this game is the reason why there's a very hot auction for a copy of this on ebay now, 2 days left, already $71!
Jackie the best! Review is awesome
This game looks to be quite epic.
Man, I want to watch Super Cop now.
Oh, Mark, just until you find out about Jackie's arcade game. I'm pretty sure the world will stop that fateful day.
I loved the nes so much even though this version is graphically better its still the same bad ass classic!
I loved that game
the nes version is great, what got me into the game to begin with.
This should be re-released with the title 'The day and the life of Jackie Chan' because every day Jackie Chan is fighting animals and shooting hadoukens.
Calling Michelle Yoeh a Bond girl is kinda like calling Sylvester Stallone "That guy from Death Race 2000".
The nes version is awesome (-:
Jackie Chan riding Gamera, nuff said.
Is it just me, or has the Intergalactic Space Arcade with is futuristic properties and time travel capabilities somehow sped up Mark's aging process?
The electric bill in the intergalactic space arcade must be f****** outrageous
Hows about some n64 games mark i havnt seen any of them in a while..
if only the controls were a better, it could have been a pretty good game.
that's so true he didn't look like jackie at all, even the big jackie chan's face at the start screen was weird, for me it looked like an old asian woman
Ooh, ooh. Review Commander Keen.
Nice haircut Mark.
Awesome video! I only played the nes version
I got a review for the NES Version but its in German
Oh. Sorry. I thought I said Loco Roco myself and you said Loco Roco questionably.
THIS GAME HAS GAMERA! THIS GAME IS PERFECT!
When did I subscribe to Lord Karnage!
I used to own this on Turbo and NES. I liked the NES version better.
Never get why so many people refer to this as the PC Engine, it was only called that in Japan it was called the Turbografx 16 everywhere else, well in western countries at least where most of TH-cam is from -_-
Honestly, if you ask me, the levels on this version aren't as half as fun as the NES ones. I'd pick that one.
Ok to be fair he did say he was playing the PC Engine version...note to self, watch the whole review before commenting -_-
Jean Claude Van Damme teams up with Hello Kitty to make Cookies? That I want to see!
NES version is awesome. Overlooked gem.
how about van dam in street fighter the movie video game? btw that over world map reminds me of conquest of the crystal palace.
If you want the TurboGrafx 16 release of Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu expect to pay quite a bit for it.
JACKIEEEEE, ONE MOOOOOORE THING!!!
...Rayman Origins!
Best job ever
The NES version is fine, smaller sprites and fewer colours but still a good game.
I have found it and watched a bit. Yes, not bad for the NES.
I'm just gonna look up Universal soldier 17... :D
I am sure that the intergalactic space arcade has its own nuclear power plant ... or something like that
That chick who needs to be saved, is the sister of Jackie Chan,Josephine.
Jackie screamed ATTAAAH!!!!!
