Even till today Hagrid's quote lives eternally: "Dry up, Durley you great prune." (It's a message to any potential traitors or class bullies in our midst) 🤯
I absolutely love the Harry Potter series and has some of the best music to exist! What makes this sad to watch is we just lost Robbie Coltrane (the actor of Hagrid) may he rest in peace as he takes his journey to heaven on the Platform 9 3/4 train! 😔 Loved the reaction Timothee!
This hits hard now that Robbie Coltrane is gone. Remember watching this as a kid in cinemas and was really captivated by his big warm lovable presence. Anyway welcome to the Harry Potter series!
I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. This film pushed me into the fandom. I can't wait to see you react to all the movies. Keep an eye on the Warner Bros. Logos. It gets darker with each movie. RIP Robbie Coltrane.
I love how when they're going to the stone they all have a thing to do, Hermione with the plant, Harry with the keys and Ron with wizards chess. They all had a part to play from Hermione who is more book smart in her ways to Ron who can be more on the goofy street smart side. I think it's interesting how they showed everyone has a part to play and are useful in some way.
8:08 The movies and books are set in the 90's. Back when I knew only the movies, I used to believe that the Harry Potter series were set in the 2000's, with Harry's first year in Hogwarts during The Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone being in 2001-2002, his second year during The Chamber of Secrets in 2002-2003 and so on. I wasn't far wrong, just a decade off. The first movie and novel are in 1991-1992, and the rest go all the way up to Harry's 7th year during The Deathly Hallows in 1997-1998.
I’m so excited to see you start the series. Each film gets better and better. Also much darker as the characters grow. Can’t wait to see your reaction!
The entire Harry Potter series is set from 1991to 1998 aside from the opening chapter of the first book, which takes place on November 1981 and the epilogue of the seventh book which takes place on September 1st 2017.
The books/films actually take place in the 90s! Though you don't really see much evidence of it save in the non-magic scenes anyway, so the films don't emphasize it too much. The first one starts in the 1991-1992 school year. And the events of the last book span 1997-1998. Edit: As for Snape, he has other reasons for being grouchy. But in the hallway, he was just trying to make sure they weren't about to go get into mischief. Then Harry started staring him down, making him definitely sus lol.
As a huge Potterhead I’m so glad to see you reacting to this. Especially after Robbie Coltrane’s passing. I love how Tim is immediately disgusted by Dudley asking for so many presents. Also how it looked like Uncle Vernon was gonna give him the keys I never noticed that before lol Oh and the passwords and some of the spells are based on Latin.
I love how Olivander recognizes the difference between great and good. Great being tremendous things, things of great effect, and good being a moral issue
Loving that you reacted to this series. I have been holding off watching your reaction 1. I began watching and reading Harry when I was six and he is my baby. I tend to avoid the bad negatives about him, yes all fandoms have there bad points to them even great ones like LOTR and Narnia, but I’m protective of the wizarding world. 2. Robbie Coltrane’s passing, I wasn’t sure how I would feel seeing him on screen but thankfully not many tears. (When i see movies with Robin Williams I nearly ball up in mix of happy and sad tears). So many actors in this series have passed away and many were legends seriously just go through the list even for some of the one screeners. 5:46 harry- male Cinderella essentially- family despises him but want to keep the free labor and claim it is family helping family. 8:09 Potter was born in 1980 so his timeline is about the 90s. 11:14 many leaders were considered great but like Voldie they weren’t good great things. Catherine, Elizabeth I, Ghenghis, Charlemagne- also note most were from the old world and while their impact on history is huge and we know if they hadnt happen modern life may not be what it is, none the less billions of peoples lives were changed and blood is covering all the continents and oceans. 13:21 as youve watched all films, the spell most likely didnt work on Scabbers because he isnt a real rat, but a man disguised as one. Oh interesting note as I saw another commenter’s note, Coltrane did around same age as Hagrid in first film. Hagrid is about same age as Voldie and in the first film he would either be in his late 60s or early 70s. Say did you spot the Game of Thrones actor-Filch aka Walder Frey. There is I believe about three or four HP actors who shows on Game of Thrones.
30:23, that’s a reference to Greek mythology. Orpheus plays a harp to get Hades’s three headed dog Cerberus to fall asleep and let him into the Underworld.
Great reaction! And a great collaboration! 😊 I'm so excited that you're starting on the Harry Potter series. I love this movie franchise. I still have yet to read all of the books. But I LOVE the movies! Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
Its sad seeing this movie again with Robbie Coltrane recently passing away. He was incredibly as Hagrid and is sorely missed. RIP :( This one is in my top 3 favorite Harry Potter films! I'd also say that from recently re-reading the first book, this movie basically has 95% of the book in it. I would describe the whole Harry Potter series as a gigantic jigsaw puzzle, a magical mystery with no shortages of plot twists. Going into each of these completely blind, I cannot stress this enough, is VITAL! You will get the best experience watching this series if you don't know a thing! The more you are not spoiled, the better. Can't wait for the next one!
fun fact. after the final movie wrapup some of the cast was on a pannel show, and each of the actors was asked what their favorite line they spoke in the entire series was. Emma Watson said channeling her 11 year old self said "Now if you two don't mind, I'm going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed - or worse, expelled."
Even though pirates of the carribbean is my fav franchise ( partly bcuz my bias for hack sparrow) Objectively , I think harry potter is the best movie franchise ever created, and I say this because it doesn't have a singe bad movie...even the worst movies from the franchise are a solid 7.5/10 Also one of the few franchises which follows a single story throughout the franchise, the first movie and last movie are directly connected, unlike potc, marvel etc The movies aren't out of the world, but the when put together, the franchise definitely is.
18:47 The makers of this movie didn’t know they were creating history with this scene. P.S. Timothée is an icon for practicing levitation with the pencil.
15:15 I can answer that too there's a kitchen exactly below the great hall. In that kitchen there are corresponding tables and when the right magic is used the stuff in the tables above and below switch places.
Stoked to see people still being introduced to this series. It actually takes place in the late 80’s through mid 90’s if I’m not mistaken, I think the story “ends” just about when JK started writing the books
The books take place 1991-98, but the Movies take place around the time the movies were shot, the newspapers in the first two movies have the date of 2000s, the cars that can be seen on the street wouldn’t be out in 1991-2 and so on. There are even some youtube analysts that consider book and movie cannon two separate universes
It's gonna be fun going on this journey with you! I think you're really going to enjoy this series and you're super observant, which will be fun for us as viewers I think
26:20, in real life alchemists actually did try to create that, only they called it the Philosophers’ Stone. Which was why outside of the US, the title is Harry Potter and the Philosophers’ Stone.
I can't wait for the rest of the Harry Potter reactions I can't wait also the like living memory book hagrid gave to Harry was still so sweet and cute like imagine if that was a real gift it be sick
it isn't mentioned in the movies sadly, but they explain it in the books that the food is prepared in a huge kitchen and then I guess it apears on the tables when it's needed. kinda interesting as in one of the books they actually spend time in that kitchen. It's a neat scene that adds more to the worldbuilding in my opinion. Side note; i still don't understand why they chamged it to Sorcerer's stone. It was Philosopher's stone in the original book and first movie, but when they released it for the States they changed the book and film too Sorcerer's stone. just weird.
I grew up with both the Harry Potter books and films, been compared with Hermione (Emma Watson) by other classmates since middle school. I still find the story and characters so dear and special. The first three movies were composed by John Williams (who also did Star Wars, Indiana Jones and SO MANY other films we millennials grew up with) and I could listen to this beautiful score for hours. Also, thank you for the memories, Robbie Coltrane, we all miss you.
25:55, fun fact. Nicholas Flamel was a real person who was (probably) an alchemist since he lived in a time when chemistry and alchemy were practically interchangeable. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolas_Flamel
Id recommend watching the 20 year reunion special after finishing the book. It was done so well and even if you dont record it for a video its worth watching on your own time.
Fun fact, the Mirror of Erised is according to Dumbledore “shows the most deepest desire in one’s heart” Erised is just desire spelled backwards as if it’s shown as a reflection of the word desire in a mirror…
Btw in the book Dudley was getting his tail removed the day Harry was leaving at platform 9 3/4, he asked for a ride, unlike in the movie, Harry comes back home after his visit to Diagon Alley.
0:09, in the United States, it’s called Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, here in Canada it’s called Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. (In English. In French, it’s actually called Harry Potter et l’école des sorciers)
Truthfully, not a Potterhead myself. That title belonged to my mom, she loved the books. It currently belongs to my second oldest sister, so she is easier to shop for Christmas gifts for now. As for me, my brother introduced me to a different book series about the other wizard named Harry. The Dresden Files is what I speak of, and they are the adventures of Harry Dresden, the resident wizard PI in the Chicago yellow pages. For more advanced readers and an excellent first person narrative.
21:38, in the second and third books Harry actually does fall from his broom during a Quidditch match and needed to be treated by the magic nurse at Hogwarts (Madam Pomfrey of the Hospital Wing).
In the chess scene, if you’re wondering why Ron didn’t jump off the horse, it’s because he is the knight. He is a chess piece just like Harry and Hermione. If he did jump off the horse to avoid the queen, that would be considered as a forfeit.
fun fact. JK was still writing the last few books when they where making this movie. JK hand picked several of the adult actors. but JK had a secret that she only spoke to Allen Rickman (Snape) about. it was Snapes character arc and the secrets that he had. she told Allen that it was important for him to know so he could play the roll knowing those secrets in general. and nether told anyone else about it till after the last movie wrap up. unlike all the other characters JK only had the most details on Snape's character and his character arc.
34:31, he’s two faced literally and figuratively. Figuratively, because he presents himself as one way while being another and literally because he has two faces.
Love this Video as A Child and I got Good Memories Rewatching It With My First Sibling,Mother, and Stepfather that I give this Movie Experience with Another Sibling of Mine that Loves this Franchise as Much as I,this Movie is a Magical Masterpiece and a Blast.
One key difference in the final fight between the book and the movie. In the book, Quril kept burning himself when he was trying to strangle Harry. All his injuries were self inflicted when he was trying to kill Harry. But the jig was up, dumbledor was on his way. So Voldemort took what was left of Quirls life force and got away before he could be caught. Killing quirl. In the movie on the other hand, Harry straight up murders someone at age 11!
I grew up with these films being made and I also read the books as they were published, so I could compare. This film sticks fairly well to the source material, probably the most of all the movies (and probably because it was the shortest book) and the way it was brought to live is simply breathtaking. Plus, John Williams as a composer, that man can do no wrong. And yes, I did see the films in my country with Polish dubbing, which has been excellent throughout all the movies.
I'm glad your starting off your journey with Harry Potter, dude! It gets better over time! This movie also has one of my favorite musical scores from John Williams who scored the next two films after this, but couldn't do the other films after that!
Now this a good watch, I don't know why but I always considered this movie both for Halloween and Christmas, also this gives me memories since I had the two disk version that allowed you to explore Hogwarts, Diagon Alley and go to classes and stores along with others stuff, and go on an adventure like in the book, it was so cool, did anyone else here have that version?
@@artsysabs it honestly was really fun, especially if you like the books since they follow the story as it is in the books with the movies visuals that you can interact with
In fact, the Dursleys did not want to let Harry go to Hogwarts because they believe that magic is evil (in the books they are compared to medieval people who were scared of magic as well, as we all know) and that if they limited Harry in everything, his powers would not develop and he would not end up like his parents (yeah, that is some crackpot logic)
@@denizkenger52 Yeah... There's actually an explanation why Harry did not turn into one. It is because Uncle Vernon would've NEVER approved that he was dealing with magic (and Aunt Petunia knew that it was so, but kept quiet), so Harry was not suppressing his powers, but letting them out with emotions instead (and believing that it was just some "strange stuff", nothing more). But still Uncle Vernon was playing with some SERIOUS fire...
I don't think the Dursley think Magic is evil. They're in denial especially Petunia. They treat Magic more like it doesn't exist and wizards as metal people or freak.

In America the book title and the movie title is “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” but most everywhere else it’s the original title “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” for both the book and the movie (I call it “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” even though I live in America, born and raised)
Spoilers?!
Loved the reaction Timothee!
Julie Walters as MRS. Molly Weasley was so brilliant! She has such great comic timing 👏🏽
Cant wait to share my experience with y’all
@@TimotheeReacts As a Southerner I appreciate your use of the word ‘y’all’ 😆
The entire Harry Potter series is set from 1991to 1998 aside from the opening chapter of the first book, which takes place on November 1981 and the epilogue of the seventh book which takes place on September 1st 2017.
So it's concurrent with our timeline?
@@stephanniemorin so Harrys son Albus would be in his 5th or 6th year of hogwarts now
"I dont know what feeling about Snape, right now."
Welcome to Harry Potter.
Also how it looked like Uncle Vernon was gonna give him the keys I never noticed that before lol
Oh and the passwords and some of the spells are based on Latin.
There is I believe about three or four HP actors who shows on Game of Thrones.
nostalgic feeling is everybody young child :harry, hermione, ron, and now 30+.
30:23, that’s a reference to Greek mythology. Orpheus plays a harp to get Hades’s three headed dog Cerberus to fall asleep and let him into the Underworld.
Robbie Coltrain , you will always live in your movies, you are inmortalized as Hagrid
Great reaction! And a great collaboration! 😊
I'm so excited that you're starting on the Harry Potter series.
I love this movie franchise. I still have yet to read all of the books. But I LOVE the movies!
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
Thanks Randee’
Great reaction! Regarding Ron not jumping off the chess piece, if he had tried to do so it would have counted as an illegal move.
Just realised that this is the extended version! Nice job!
Thanks
Its sad seeing this movie again with Robbie Coltrane recently passing away. He was incredibly as Hagrid and is sorely missed. RIP :(
This one is in my top 3 favorite Harry Potter films!
Even though pirates of the carribbean is my fav franchise ( partly bcuz my bias for hack sparrow)
Objectively , I think harry potter is the best movie franchise ever created, and I say this because it doesn't have a singe bad movie...even the worst movies from the franchise are a solid 7.5/10
Also one of the few franchises which follows a single story throughout the franchise, the first movie and last movie are directly connected, unlike potc, marvel etc
The movies aren't out of the world, but the when put together, the franchise definitely is.
I was disappointed that in the last movie of the series, Abbott and Costello didn't meet Harry Potter.
The way Snape talks is one of the best things about him
The first story is the only which got the movie title named changed. The ogrinal name is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
27:31 "Hagrid" and "Knows what he is doing" is not two sentences I am used to hearing. 😂
Fun fact; i've seen many reactors who took the quiz and ended up in the Slytherin House. as a Slytherin myself, i was very happy with it.
Finallyyyy!! Love seeing people's reaction to big franchises like this! Expect a bigger story with every Harry Potter movie Tim.
After multiple covid tests, I really winced when the troll had a wand stuck up its nose.
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this reaction! Thank you, Tim!🪄✨
No worries Anya! Happy to start this journey
The films get better and better and darker and darker as they go. Starting with film three!
it isn't mentioned in the movies sadly, but they explain it in the books that the food is prepared in a huge kitchen and then I guess it apears on the tables when it's needed. kinda interesting as in one of the books they actually spend time in that kitchen.
You should also look up A Very Potter Musical after watching the film series, absolutely HILARIOUS!!!
25:55, fun fact. Nicholas Flamel was a real person who was (probably) an alchemist since he lived in a time when chemistry and alchemy were practically interchangeable. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolas_Flamel
32:18 he was the knight, not the horse, if he jumps, it counts as a move
2:47, Rubeus Hagrid is the character the late Robbie Coltrane played
25:34, fun fact. It’s called the Mirror of Erised because Erised is desire spelled backwards
In later books you learn how the food makes it to the tables. In the book they also cover Dudley's tail.
These books and movies are actually mysteries disguised as fantasy
Btw in the book Dudley was getting his tail removed the day Harry was leaving at platform 9 3/4, he asked for a ride, unlike in the movie, Harry comes back home after his visit to Diagon Alley.
every movie becomes darker and trust me you will love it
Thank you,for reaction! I always loved Harry Potter, science my childhood!
Harry potter my Favourite:) I do remember seeing deathly hallows part one and two in cinemas
0:09, in the United States, it’s called Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, here in Canada it’s called Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. (In English. In French, it’s actually called Harry Potter et l’école des sorciers)
39:00 man Slytherin got La la landed
Truthfully, not a Potterhead myself. That title belonged to my mom, she loved the books. It currently belongs to my second oldest sister, so she is easier to shop for Christmas gifts for now. As for me, my brother introduced me to a different book series about the other wizard named Harry. The Dresden Files is what I speak of, and they are the adventures of Harry Dresden, the resident wizard PI in the Chicago yellow pages. For more advanced readers and an excellent first person narrative.
Rest in Peace, mr. Robbie Coltrane, our beloved Hagrid.
*Which Harry Potter movie is your favourite?!?*
Chamber of secrets
Chamber of Secrets through Half Blood Prince
Prisoner of Azkaban
The Deathly Hallows part 1 and this one because I fall so bad for the Potterverse after I watched it
This movie reminds me of Christmas. My family and I marathon the series around the holidays. It's brilliant!
21:38, in the second and third books Harry actually does fall from his broom during a Quidditch match and needed to be treated by the magic nurse at Hogwarts (Madam Pomfrey of the Hospital Wing).
I love the Harry Potter-Franchise, as I grew up on the books and the movies. I love the characters, especially Hagrid.
The first film begins in 1991, each following book is about 1 year later, so the series ends at 97.
Some of the scenes here, I actually haven’t seen (probably because it’s an extended version)! Still, great series to watch!
about the food question
-
food can not be created out of nothing
-
the golden plates are teleporters to the kitchen
34:31, he’s two faced literally and figuratively. Figuratively, because he presents himself as one way while being another and literally because he has two faces.
The way I eat I saw the thumbnail you look really good in the Harry Potter, I loved Harry Potter movies.
Love this Video as A Child and I got Good Memories Rewatching It With My First Sibling,Mother, and Stepfather that I give this Movie Experience with Another Sibling of Mine that Loves this Franchise as Much as I,this Movie is a Magical Masterpiece and a Blast.
3:05, he actually didn’t kidnap a baby. The baby’s parents were murdered and he transported said orphan baby to his only living relatives.
I got introduced to Robbie Coltrane as a kid watching Goldeneye when it came out.....also Famke Janssen😍
I didn’t but that sounds fun!
Imagine if they turned him into an obscurial. That would be their worst nightmare if they succeeded on making him suppress his magic.
@@CarolinePhoenixMe they’re also lucky Sirius didn’t kill them. It was very possible he’d wanna hurt Vernon even if not Petunia for Lily’s sake.
I don't think the Dursley think Magic is evil. They're in denial especially Petunia. They treat Magic more like it doesn't exist and wizards as metal people or freak.
the food is teleport the the kitchen, witch is directly below the great hall, where there are table matching the one in the great hall, and the food is made by house elves.
I’ve met Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) in real life. He’s actually super nice!
15:22, it was teleported there by elves. (Think along the lines of the Shoemaker and the Elves or Santa’s elves for that purpose though it turns out not every elf is like that).
So it was an elf service meal.

It makes you wonder how Harry is so kind with an mean aunt, uncle and cousin.
I have been obsessed with watching your vids since the Monster House video so I am so stoked to see another video with you and Malbread! Keep up the good work
