Fun fact: Crabbe clapping during the House Cup ceremony wasn't supposed to happen. Jamie Waylett(Crabbe) got caught up in the moment and began to stand up and clap, forgetting that he was supposed to remain seated. Tom Felton(Malfoy) saw this and yanked him back down to prevent the take from being ruined. However, director Chris Columbus and Rowling thought it reflected the natures of both characters and it was kept in the movie.
I didn't notice that. Very interesting, thanks! The other thing to consider is that Crabbe may not have heard the "pure blood talk" from his parents at home, and as a First Year at Hogwarts, had not yet gotten indoctrinated into the Slytherin mindset!

My favourite piece of trivia for this movie is that the producers asked IM Jeremy Silman to come up with a chess puzzle to which Ron's self sacrifice was the solution that lead to forced mate. And he did. But more than that, there's actually 2 solutions to the chess puzzle. Ron didn't have to sacrifice himself to win. But the other winning sequence would have sacrificed Harry instead. Ron chose to sacrifice himself without hesitation. Unfortunately they never show the chess board from far enough away that you can actually see the position
Any person growing up during that era has memories of reading the books and anticipating each book, along with watching and anticipating each movie.
yep I was one of those 90s kids growing up with the books and movies 4 years later.
I was in my early 30’s when the whole Harry Potter thing started, but I still waited in anticipation for each book and movie. This whole series, both books and movies, somehow wasn’t targeted to just children. Their appeal transcends age groups.

The 1st book came out when I was in second grade and my teacher at the time decided to read the book to the class, I was not interested at all I even tried to take a nap but my teacher saw this and when it came to the description of Ron she told the class he has red hair like Jon and from that moment on I was hooked lol

Just a small detail: you're not the first to misunderstand the term "curse". It doesn't mean that Harry is cursed.
In this world a curse is a serious act of dark magic. Like something that will kill or seriously hurt somebody.
Less severe acts of dark magic are called jinxes or hexes.
This was merely the introduction to this world. As the characters grow older, the subsequent movies will be more and more serious and really dark.

That's also because from The Prisoner of Azkaban they changed director many times. The first two were directed by Chris Columbus that was so brilliant which Radcliffe itself admitted that he made a great work!

LOL they really do NOT get better as you go. Second and third are great, 4th falls off hard, 5th is okay, 6th was destroyed. 7th did well following the book and then the 8th was fairly average.

They’re currently working on a TV series that’ll hopefully be more book accurate. The films are still good but some take too many liberties and mess up a few characters. Like giving all of Ron’s best moments to Hermione.

Fun fact. Allan Rickman wanted to get out of the role as Snape when there are so many movies that was getting made. J.K. Rowling the author of the books talked to Allen and told him about his character before anyone knew what is happening in the books. He had to keep the secret from everyone for years so it wouldn’t leak out. She talked him into staying in the movies for his character

44:48 As a side note: In the books, Hagrid is actually quite distraught for having put Harry into danger during the school year, he ends up writing letters to some of Lily and James' (harry's parents) old school friends. He gives Harry that leatherbound booklet with a bunch of wizarding pictures of his parents. This object is quite possibly Harry's most prized possession.
When I reread that part in the books as an adult, I nearly burst into tears because that means that Remus most likely got a letter and maybe sent a photo or two for the book Hagrid gives 🥹

I was born when the third Harry Potter movie came out. I grew up watching it. I love the actors so much. As a college student I’ll never stop being a Potter head. It’s truly a magical series that’s special to me.

I am going to be completely honest, it's hard watching some non-english speakers watch these movies because they just seem to not understand what's going on (especially when the plot gets more complex) so I almost skipped over this channel, but I gave this video another go and I LOVED how excited you both were and how much you two obviously understood what was going on and reacted correctly to things happening. This was fun. I cringed a little bit when Hagrid got upset about Norbert the dragon getting sent to Romania, and thought, "I hope the girls aren't from Romania, I'm sure it's a lovely place."

Another similar movie series you could consider watching is The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. There were three movies made in that series, The Chronicles of Narnia, from the books written by C.S. Lewis. Great cast, well-directed, and still good effects. Since you noticed the "kentaur" Firenze in Harry Potter, you should like the multiple centaurs in the Narnia movies. It's always nice when people notice the centaurs 👍
My favorite part of this movie is at the end, how everybody conveniently forgets that Harry straight up murdered a dude 2 scenes earlier.🤣🤣

Not sure why there was a change in the title, nor do I know which is the final official name. I sometimes just combine them and call it "The Sorcerer's Philosopher Stone" or "The Philosopher's Sorcerer Stone"...
Only the first two HP films are available in extended cut versions. Any other films professing to be "extended" are just fan-made edits with deleted scenes spliced in.
The FB film, Crimes Of Gridelwald also has an extended cut, but it's unclear whether this one may have been extended officially/professionally, or by particularly skilled fans - while the title card includes "Extended Cut" in the title font, the bonus scenes still have a telltale on-screen text indicating "Deleted Scene" (not very professional imho).
I would only strongly recommend the extended cuts of the first 2 films, which are 159 mins (2h39m) and 174 mins (2h54m) long compared to their theatrical cuts of 152 mins (2h32m) and 161 mins (2h41m), respectively.

8:40 It's because they changed them to be even more horrible in the movies compared to the books, so a lot of the underlying things that weren't revealed until much later make no sense in the movies. Especially everything to do with Hermione, Ron and his foster parents are very different from the books, so there will be a lot of events that seem strange since they made sense in the book version, but seem random or illogical in movies due to big changes they had made previously
For example 80% of good and smart things Ron did were given to Hermione, and 80% of the flaws Hermione had were given to Ron and Harry. The reason for this was that the director was in love with Hermione and wanted to make her seem as the true protagonist

We usually rewatch the movies around Halloween and just finished the set a few weeks ago! Definitely a trip back to childhood, it's really fun watching a new person's reaction!
Hey, Magy, and Foxy. I really loved this movie a whole lot for my birthday two years ago. I thought it was surprisingly magical. The acting, visual effects, costumes, and performance were great. Although, it may be too scary or frightened. Anyway, it was a terrific achievement, as it adapts its source material faithfully, while condensing the novel's overstuffed narrative into an involving and often downright exciting. A strongly recommendation for me on "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", and Happy 22nd Anniversary!

Are you recommending the sorcerers stone? You do realize that Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone is literally a shortened version of Harry Potter and the philosophers stone
No, the two movies are identical with the exception of the one shot of Hermione saying "Sorceror's Stone" for the North American release.
If you're talking about the book, there are other words and phrases translated for American children as several British words (like jumper) mean something else here or we have different words for something. Neither is shorter by more than one or two words total.
I know because I bought them both and compared them side-by-side and word for word, and bought both movie versions and compared them as well.
If you notice that the length of the movies is sometimes listed as being different, you should be aware that the European video transmission standard, PAL plays at 25 frames per second and US NTSC video is often 30 fps (films can be at 24 fps (23.976 to he exact) and that results in longer or shorter runtime because of playback speed.

In the books, there are 40 students in Harry's year (1991), and if there are 40 students in every year, then there's 280 students at Hogwarts, though it appears that the castle was designed to house (or at least educate) more, as there are several unused classrooms.
My interest in the movies about the boy who lived , about the chosen one powerful wizard named Harry Potter started about 22 years ago , all the movies , all the books which i saw it and read it made me such a great fan in Harry Potter franchise , such a great feeling i have to this day that i grew up with this amazing cinematic franchise , Magy and Laura big thanks for the amazing and magical reaction to the beggining of magical full of wizards journey 🙂

I prefer the books myself, but you can watch just the films and get along fine.
The first two movies follow the books closely, but later volumes are longer, so they had to edit the script to avoid 3 hour movies. 😏
But, as I said, you can just watch the movies. 😊

Of course Magy choose House of Gryffindor while Laura choose House of Slytherin. Of course the complete opposites of houses lol. I’m House of Ravenclaw & I’m proud of that 😅. Also House of Gryffindor is the red and orange colors, green and black is Slytherin, blue and gray is Ravenclaw, and Yellow and black is Hufflepuff, just a FYI but of course someone could correct me if I’m wrong.

Hufflepuff in the house! There's a fan fiction out there called " the Rise of Hufflepuff" it's a what if story about Harry and Hermione being sorted in to Hufflepuff instead of Griffindor. It's a alternate story line.
Love your reaction ladies! If you ever have the opportunity, I HIGHLY recommend you visit the Harry Potter studios just outside of London. You can walk through some of the actual movie sets. You can walk into the Great Hall, and you can walk down Diagon Alley. They are incredible, and absolutely worth it for any Harry Potter fan,

The first movie was cute. I laugh every time Weasley get's hit in the face with his broom! But my favorites are Goblet of Fire and the last one. I don't even remember much of the others. But those two I mentioned are fantastic.
