    I just found this channel in the last few months and I am 100% addicted to it. At 57 years of age I am a stage four cancer patient who spent the last 40 years of his life working jobs I love to do, and working 50+ hour weeks almost all the time, Now I can no longer work and receive disability so I have tons of time that I don't know what to do with as the weather is getting cold in Pa now I have been staying in the house more and watching TH-cam that is how I found how much I like this remarkable content. Thank you so much.

    Love Paul's approach to problem solving and "design". He should get much more recognition for the Golden Nugget. Pretty much started with nothing and re-engineered into something special. Only then was it ready for painting,which also turned out pretty damn good. Best wishes from jolly old England.

  • @randallfender96
    @randallfender96 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    Love the way you did the nose on the wrecker. I am a bit concerned about the radiator shroud. Looks pretty tight, and I'm wondering if you'll get contact when you torque the engine and it moves. I guess we'll see! Can't wait to see the finished product.

    • @gailtaylor1636
      @gailtaylor1636 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep. And the fan doesn't need to be that deep/forward into the shroud. Having 1/2 the blade outside the "tube" will pull same amount of air.

    • @kerryhickman2235
      @kerryhickman2235 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was wondering the same thing about the shroud. Hopefully he has solid steel mounts on the engine, because if they're rubber it's going to hit & possibly destroy the fan & that awesome shroud he made. I've seen it happen many times before when an engine is under a heavy load & the rubber mounts arent strong enough & on his truck there is so little tolerance for it to be able to move. I wonder why he decided to go with the manual fan instead of the dual electric fans? I would think the electric fans would work a whole lot better keeping the engine cool when he's out 4 wheeling & going so slow. Maybe he will address everything & tell us in his next video. I love the work he & Ben do there! I love to be able to work with them!

    • @gailtaylor1636
      @gailtaylor1636 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And let this be a lesson to TH-cam watchers...don't jump ahead and comment before watching the whole vijeo. About 19:00 he puts the fan on. PERFECTLY POSITIONED! I should have known.

    • @randallsmerna384
      @randallsmerna384 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kerryhickman2235 I agree with you on the fan thing, however, slower speeds doesn't have anything to do the amount of air a mechanical fan pulls because of the fan clutch. Engine RPM has more to do with that.

    Hey Guys, you really should put a shroud around the front of the radiator so air can't get around it. Your losing at least 50% of air flow through the rad and coolers when you are going forwards as air takes the path of least resistance. You'd only need about an inch or so. I think if you do the same with the FJ you'll find it cooling better as well. For an example, look at your cars/trucks and what they have in front of the rad area around the edges...... just a suggestion :)

    Just want to thank you team. My golf cart wouldn’t start so I took a Putter and hit it and it started right up! I only knew that because of your videos. I can golf, but have 0 mechanical ability. Keep teaching us unknowledged folk:)

    To finish cut those fenders for welding you might have used a method called "cut and butt". You place your fender section over top of the the front fender in your case and then cut through both layers on the overlap with a zip cut. When finished cutting you will have a joint that will match perfectly and can be easily welded up.

      That method does work well when you're putting 2 pieces together that are straight but you can still run into a problem when the final product has to be angled like in the case of the fender. The angle throws the geometry off from top to the bottom & can cause you to have gaps.

    The front on that is coming together like no bodies business! This is just getting cooler and cooler! Ima have to get with my cousin and pull up some old thing and do some fun chop work on it. This looks like too much fun.
