I really doubt that President Obama truly cares about the health of the people of this country. After all, he had 8 years and did nothing (except, of course, for Obamacare - which ha,s nothing to do with health or nutrition).. For that matter, I don't think ANY of our former presidents really cared about the health of We, The People. President Trump appears to have had his eyes opened by RFK, Jr. Hopefully, we will get a chance to see if this is really the case. Putting RFK, Jr. in charge of improving the health of the people of this country is really the only way I see any change happening in my lifetime. (Like RFK, JR., I am 70 years old).
You are also a very courageous man, Dr. Dhand. Peace.

However, I'm lucky in that unlike many, I can afford to do so, because it's six times the price of the plastic stuff. Real sourdough doesn't keep, but you can slice it and freeze it. If 90% of doctors across every 1st world country on earth all agree on a topic, maybe it's not a narrative, maybe its just true. If you still disagree, and you have the expertise, then do your own experiments and write your own scientific paper, list your methods, and submit it to a reputable journal so other professionals can look at it and try to replicate your result. If you can't provide solid evidence, then don't be shocked when no one wants to listen to you.
I would be much more concerned about listening to a doctor who sells bullshit supplements on his website to gullible conspiracy theorists to make bank off of their love of conspiracies like our snake oil salesman Suneel Dhand here. Secondly, many people are raised on such foods, so they honestly don't know any better. I grew up in post war England in the '40s when our food was rationed. My mother used to say they rationed rubbish. It was the basics, I believe, if my memory serves me well, but I was lucky we lived on an abundant farm and ate directly from trees, bushes and the earth. (Haha that sounds primitive, but you know what I mean - just fresh foods.) I became a vegetarian there, too, having seen the farmer kill the animals with his bare hands. Not a pretty sight. I am now 85 and perfectly healthy, unlike many of my acquaintances are suffering lots of different illnesses. Thank you, Dr Dhand for your friendly and commonsense videos.

For at least 10 years I had to use an inhaler because I had exercised induced asthma. Couldn't catch a full breath without it, and after the run would cough and gag something awful. Several years ago I decided to clean up my diet. Stopped eating bread & other crap like cookies, cakes, pasta, rice, etc etc. Yes, I do treat myself, but all that stuff is no longer a regular part of diet. Since cleaning up diet, I no longer have to use an inhaler & my exercise induced asthma is gone. The funny thing is I did not clean up thinking it would get rid of asthma, just did it to better take care of myself. No more inhaler!

As an African American that is 70 yrs young---this article makes me very angry! Diabetes, heart issues. high blood pressure run rampant in our communities! The sad, tragic part about this health crisis---is, it is so difficult to get this community to change its eating habits! The cheap food sold at fast food places, the dinners sold at church functions, the high intake of sugar products, the lies that doctors tell patients, feeding babies, children sugar at a young age--list goes on and on. An article like this only gives an excuse for people to keep eating the same food that is killing them. I feel like I am in a maze--trying to get away from the food, drink industry and doctors that peddle medications. Thank you for your honesty and sincere concern about our health! When you fast, the body burns off harmful linoleic acid quickly and this allows the body to burn more stearic acid, and doing so actually increases all important mitochondrial health. Linoleic acid has the opposite effect and destroys the mitochondria. The many benefits of occasional extended fasting and lowering dietary carbs:
Your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune cells in a 72h fast, rejuvenating your immune system. This helps with autoimmune disease, cancers and cytokine storm.
Reduces B cells by over half in a single fast, greatly reducing allergic and other autoimmune responses.
Fasting and low carb help with POTS, which is driven by high insulin and blood sugar.
Clotting and fibrin are inhibited, stopping any 'unusual' clots.
The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of proteins, pathogens and plaques by macrophages and other immune bodies. This will remove spikes quicker, whether natural or unnatural in origin!
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, reducing inflammation and allowing the immune bodies to move freely through the body.
T cells are cruciall in fighting cancer, autoimmune disease and infection. Tthymus generally stops making them with age but fasting releases stem cells, which then can become new T cells. It also releases growth hormone, which regenerates the thymus!
When insulin is high, vit D stays locked in the blood cells but fasting quickly lowers it. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and D in turn increases autophagy.
Your brain prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when equally available to glucose. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns free fatty acids.
Fasting increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors and increases average telomere length in stem cell pools.
Reflexes and short term memory are increased.
Clots and plaques are removed over time due to accelerated phagocytosis.
Fasting reduces cortisol over time and improves your circadian rhythm.
Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!.
Fasting increases interferon, which shuts down the ability of viruses to replicate.
Fasting does not reduce testosterone over time. It raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. It also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building. And removes fat, which also increases estrogen in men.
Fasting activates autophagy (literally self eating). This recycles damaged proteins and foreign matter such as viruses.
Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue!
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mtDNA. Mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention!
24h of fasting reduces leptin levels by half! This reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function.
Fasting restores NAD+, reduces NADH and increases nitric oxide release to open blood vessels.
Over time fasting normalizes stomach acid levels and during the fast acid levels go down to allow for the healing of ulcers.
Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system, just like the effect of CBD oil
The obese will lose loose skin while fasting, but the frail will have increased growth hormone release, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness.
When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn glucose, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with.
Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility for some women.
Fasting increases telomere length, negating some effects of aging at a cellular level.
Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood, creating new nerve and brain cell growth. This helps a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
Fasting stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer.
Glycine and trimethylglycine (TMG) can also be useful supplements while fasting that won't break ketosis and have many benefits.
A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD has about 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and zero net carbs.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast but most teas and herbs are OK. Supplements and meds usually break ketosis due to fillers or directly. Some of them also irritate the stomach. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. They also help with dementia and many other issues even if you take them while not fasting!
Children, expecting or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors that excrete insulin or certain rare forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all or only with doctor supervision. T1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis and done under doctor supervision. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast with a low carb meal.

I have just been diagnosed with arthritis, an inflammatory disease.
So i decided to buy cod liver oil and when I looked at the ingredients on my seven seas cod liver oil purchase it was 50% cod liver oil and 50% sunflower oil. I couldn't believe it the inflammatory sunflower oil was cancelling out the effects of the anti-inflammatory cod liver oil.

My knees flare up and my brain gets fuzzy when I eat bread or noodles. I can eat the frozen Ezekiel bread with org. peanut butter and jelly and soda crackers.....but the rest stiffens me all over and I Hate the feeling...have to take Advil to feel human.

@@DeannaClark-oo9ut I'm in UK, I know what you mean. The bread here is awful, sometimes it gives me a sore stomach. As you have mentioned your head been fuzzy, I get that too with dizziness so I'm wondering now if it's the bread. But about a month ago I started taking nettle herbal tincture, it has cleared my dizziness that I had for 2 years. I purchased it because it said it was good for arthritis and it matches many of my symptoms. However, I need to see an actual herbalist practitioner to see how much of it I should be taking and for how long. The food quality in all the major supermarkets has significantly decreased since the pandemic, I notice it in so many products I used to buy. They are it would seem replacing milk products with palm oil and multiple types of acid. Acidic stuff is very bad for arthritis and this has been known for years. It's crazy how they have to tamper with every food product!

Its the same with olive oil. Make sure you look at label & see that the olive oil comes from one source. The cheaper oils will their olive oil is a combination of oils from different locations. More chances of crap oil in the oil you think is supposed to be good for you.

Mondelez talked to Time and offered a bunch of cookie advertising if they...ran this little puff piece. RJ Reynolds Tobacco bought Nabisco back in the early 1980s as they were able to use the massive advertising budget to pressure media companies to eliminate negative health news about tobacco.

I have noticed in the UK in all the crisps ingredients, bar 1 or 2 brands the oil has gone from being high Oleic sunflower oil to a mix now of just sunflower oil/canola(rapeseed oil). The same goes for all of the ready made meals nearly all contain canola oil now in the UK.

This is a crisis in the US, particularly in the low income food desert neighborhoods. I worked across 37 States in the education system, 16 year old kids who had never eaten a vegetable, and never would entertain. This is not an exception, this is the majority.

I'm thinking of a particular boy that has no trouble loving and eating all the healthy foods but is addicted to junk food. His mother has always kept the house full of food, of all kinds, she cannot help herself and you can always find new credit card to max out, that's how she paid for it. As so often happens, the disease is passed down through the mother. Blaming it on food deserts is really missing the important cause.
