Thanks for much for sharing. My dad would tell me stories of those days of fishing. Nice to see the old footage. I grew up fishing on the beaches of Ekuk.
Great to have some idea of what they where like! my grandfather's first boat was a 1919 gillnetter. i love these boats and since he got that one and built a cabin on it, our family have been boating for decades. thanks!
Nice piece of Bristol Bay history. Thanks for putting it up Nautical Media. My Grandpa Guy Groat's first season fishing in a sailboat, they put in 33,000 fish. Roughly 190,000 pounds. The highliner for their cannery that year put in 55,000 fish. Well over 300,000 pounds. Days of "wooden boats and iron men".
We had some Bristol Bay sailboats that were donated to YMCA Camp Orkila on Orcas Is. that I learned to sail the summer of 1960 and 1961. We'd caulk the planks with white paint and cotton while the boats were upside down on the beach and then float them for the summer campers and take them to nearby islands and camp on the beach.

Thank you for putting this up for us to see how our grandfather Henry Vogland fished in Bristol Bay for many years. He passed away in 1948 at age 61.
Terrific video! Many thanks.

wonderful video !!! Thank you for upload
Just on the production, 200,000 - 300,000 lbs all hand hauled and pew delivered truly is impressive.
