@mrgrumpy771 no that hotel was a death trap.
Smoke alarms no batteries. Covered up with cling film. Not working because of no batteries.
The manager cares not one jot for the safety of residents clearly. He's run that place I to thr ground.
      Moldy damp. Poor maintenance
A disabled lady was put there by council, he threw her out on the street. After a guy was helping her to her room. She couldn't even wheel herself.
Bare wires hanging off of plugs, light fixtures on ceilings bare wires again.
He should be interviewed by the police. For endangering lives. Criminal to put lives at risk that way.
Even I see in other news reports, people had to travel 309miles to collect luggage, no courier to send to traumatised guests. No alternative accommodation arranged I presume.
      Filthy dirty rooms .
I hope heritage investigate him for the non maintenance of a heritage building now damaged. Only one part is safe to stay up.
Not to mention the asbestos in the air for locals and residents on holiday.
Pays staff so little they are sleeping on friends sodas at weekends.
Drugs weed smell which he allowed on premises.
No comment from hotel at all from manager or the Britainia group.
A once beautiful building ruined by v v poor manager.
Hope police are going to hold him accountable for risk to life.

Best thing could have happened to the Shit Hole, booked there a few years ago for a 3 day mini break. Stayed one night then bailed out it was nothing more than a hostel and this was pre boat scroungers, which Britannia make their money from now. Plus a big NO NO for us was they allowed dogs in, dogs live in kennels/private houses not hotel rooms with mincers. We had used Britannia a couple of times some years previous in Stockport & Warwickshire which were fine. As someone mentioned earlier perhaps a very convenient redevelopment is in the offing.

Not strange, fire will travel to wear there is fuel which was away from the walls, in the middle and the wind both natural and produced by the fire, lifted the smoke column up and away...smoke is hot (a by product of whats burning hence the colour changes black, grey and white is cool) & it rises then falls in the middle not the sides that is till it gets into the rooms and then you see tell tale signs of fire the soot build up around the frames its called creeping we see it around windows and doors, it highly dangerous and theres a potential flash over about to occur ...yes I'm a fire fighter
