    I became aware of Neurographic Art this year. I needed something to help me cope with my constant pain. After 14 back surgeries it’s a bit daunting to try anything that could distract my brain from the pain. I like watching you do this art form as it’s just as relaxing as actually doing it. Thank you for sharing your creativity!

      Hi Barb ❤️ I’m so sorry to see you’re dealing with chronic back pain. It can certainly be difficult to distract ourselves from pain, especially when it is constant. Art has helped me deal with depression and other health issues. Like you, when it’s too difficult to even fathom picking up a brush myself, I have found watching art video to be therapeutic and relaxing on its own. I’m glad you found this video relaxing ❤️ sending you lots of love 🤗

      Hello Barb.
      I have also chronic backpain and other pain problems. Maybe is the resaeach from dr. John E Sarno. Healing backpain a eye opener. I read now his book and i learn about it. Very interesting. You can try it, in combination with neurografic art maby the best thing 😁😅🫶🤞🍀💐
      Good luck and succes and have a nice day from the netherlands.

    Great video! Your take on Neurographic art and how it helps you was interesting and definitely makes a complex style approachable. I do think it's important to point out the difference between art as therapy and art therapy. As you've implied in your video that this is art therapy. It definitely is a great theraputic tool, but it's as much therapy as mindfulness or journalling is. Art therapy requires a trained practitioner who understands the theraputic relationship and how the art materials influence a persons levels of cognition and emotion. I love to see you edicating people on relaxation and regulation techniques, I will definitely check out more of your videos!

    I've tried neurographic art in the past. I started by using a fine liner to make random shapes and then filled them in with watercolour. I might try this approach of painting first and then overlaying with the black marker.

    I agree with you wholeheartedly about the "rules." I tried this method, the one based on creativity more than rules, and it did create a meditative, happy, relaxed experience for me. And yes, it did help me deal with things and look at things differently. It was therapeutic. However, once I tried to follow rules, realized the lines I had and loved were "wrong," etc., etc., I just became frustrated, thereby losing all those positive effects above. Thank you for addressing the rules, which I'm sure some love to follow and gain things by, and I'm sure they have their purpose....but for me, freedom of expression was key to finding peace and change.

      Thank you for your kind words! ❤️ I'm so happy you gave it a try as well! Yes, watercolor paper can wreak havoc on our felt tip markers for sure! I've since moved on to using the following: amzn.to/3wX8pgT (It can take a little while to get use to working with a brush pen, but once you get used to it, I think you'll really enjoy it and the paper won't damage it at all ☺️). On smaller pieces, I also like to work with the following fountain pen: amzn.to/3Pj9XrG. Because it has a metal tip, it also will not be damaged by the texture of watercolor paper. The nice thing about this pen is you can use the converter to refill the pen or you can buy ink refills (amzn.to/4ciKR6c). I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching and for making the time to connect 💕

    This is just the perfect video, at the perfect time for me, in so many ways. So thank you so much for sharing. I have been deeply influenced in the development of my artistic style by Kandinsky and artists that have followed in that vein. I am just beginning to experiment with watercolor and I'm very much a beginner, and have been looking for some guidance and how to lay down color so that I get a vibrancy. So this was fantastic. But even more so, I have dealt with PTSD, chronic pain and anxiety for most of my adult life. Mindfulness, yoga, breathwork have all been key in holding all of that in a more gentle embrace. The fluidity of this work you're demonstrating, not only dovetails that which attracts me so much to the work of the artists like Kandinsky (you may be familiar with his book, The Spiritual in Art), but also in the way one can so deeply lose, and heal, oneself in it's creation.
    Eager to explore this. Again, thank you for sharing.

      Hi Michael ❤️ Thank you for making time to connect with such kindness and for choosing to share part of your journey with me. Art and the practice of mindfulness have been healing for me in so many ways as well and it’s always lovely to connect with another creative soul. I have of course heard of Kandinsky, but I had not heard of his book. It sounds like just the kind of book I would enjoy reading. So thank you for sharing with me too! I wish you well as you continue to explore and play with watercolors ❤️🤗🎨

    LOVE your work! I won't elaborate on its inspiration but need to ask please;
    What white pens do you use? I've tried 3 different brands & types of tips & only frustration has ensued. Anyone?

    • @gabrielleannacormierart
      @gabrielleannacormierart  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Denise ❤️🤗 Ah white pens!!! It is hard to find ones that work consistently well over watercolors. I have 2 that I really love: one is a Pentel Signo (they work well over watercolors, especially when they are new and full of ink) and the other one is an Eco TWSBI that I fill with white ink. I tend to work with very saturated color on my paper and I think this can pose certain problems with the color bleeding into my white ink. So, if I want really bright whites, I will often go over the ink with gesso. I hope this helps! Thank you for your kindness and for making the time to reach out and connect ☺️

    I've been doing this for years but didn't know it had a name. I never start art with a prompt. It's literally what comes out of my head in the moment, be it swirls, or full-blown illustrations. They're never predictable, and many times, I'm just as surprised by the product as the next person. I call them flow of mind drawings, but I think I may change the name now.

    • @gabrielleannacormierart

      Hi Elizabeth ❤️☺️ In my mind, when it comes to creating, there are no absolutes! I tend to use black because I love how it makes my colors pop, but, I have also used white and I think any color you feel called to use would be a great color to create with ☺️ The more we experiment, the more we learn and grow as artists! Can you please explain to me about putting fine ground salt on your artwork, does it still have to be wet and what actually does it do? Thanks in advance. PS Your artwork is amazing and has inspired me to try my own

    • @gabrielleannacormierart
      @gabrielleannacormierart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Wayne! ☺️ Salt is used while the paint is still wet. Then, as the paint and paper dry, the salt repels the paint and creates interesting "marks" or "textures". I recommend grabbing a small piece of scrap watercolor to experiment with this. Try adding salt to different paint swatches at varying levels of dryness to see how your paint will react. I have found, that sometimes it also matters what quality of paper you use, but generally the effects can be created on most watercolor paper. You'll notice that the more your paint is dry on the paper, the less there is an effect. I like to use it in my artwork because it adds interesting effects to my backgrounds. The trickiest part is having enough patience to let the paper and paint dry naturally so the salt can do its thing. Once the paper and paint are completely dry, you can use a piece of paper towel or tissue to rub the salt off your painting before continuing your process. I hope this helps! Thank you for making the time to connect and thank you for your kind words ☺️❤️
