Thank you very much! I never liked the finality of the fight we got (or how short it was). The idea that the Bull Rex we spent so much time with in TLW could just be offed in less than a few minutes was so insulting and anti-climactic. Leaving the victor ambiguous felt right. :)
I REALLY prefer the Spino/Rex fight being at the end, as it feels so much more appropriate having the big duel at the height of the film as opposed to the first act. In fact, when I was a kid and first heard about the Rex & Spino fight from my older brother, I was under the impression that was the direction the film was going in. I was honestly very disappointed when I saw the film and how quickly the Rex got beat.
When you brought out the T. Rex vs Spinosaurus fight at the end I was afraid you’d do the typical “Rex beats the Spino” thing that people do whenever they rewrite the fight or have these two species fight in the series. Leaving the outcome ambiguous is a way better call and better compromise imo. That way nobody can say one can definitely beat the other while also showing that these were more of a rival/nemesis species towards each other (if that makes sense). Overall awesome fix to the story. And now I wait for people to tell me how wrong I am.
I knew early on I wanted an epic showdown with the two at the climax of the film. I didn’t know who to allow win for a while lol. Eventually I realized there didn’t have to be one. As I’ve mentioned previously in other comments, in my head the fight ends with the spinosaurus retreating back to its territory, alive.

Totally valid to think so! It’s been really interesting to hear how many people love the sequels as they are, and I can appreciate that while the majority of viewers weren’t on board with JP3, there are those who enjoyed it and only have minor nitpicks with the finished product. The same goes for TLW!
Funfact: the original plot teased for Jurassic park 3 was that the dinosaurs were returning back to their old selfs. That's why the raptors have slight quills. And honestly, It sound like a Better plot than the actual plot for the movie.
This was really good. I love a lot of the ideas you thought of. Had Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment went with this story for Jurassic Park 3, it would have been much better. I would also add having the T-Rex defeat the Spinosaurus in their battle.
I like your idea but I'll have two fights between the rex and spino spino wins first but doesn't kill the rex just scares it off and in the final battle the rex would finally get the win
I like the idea of the rex getting slashed up in the first encounter and walking off, only to come back for round 2 having learned that it needs to proactively disable the spino’s arms, at least one of them, and then proceeds to do so to claim victory.
Yeah big time disagree with the design of the raptors, but the rest of the rewrite is pretty good. Just personally I always felt that since Raptors from 1 & 2 always acted like vicious monsters, killing humans and each other, their design matched. Lizard like monsters. The raptors of JP3 pursued the Humans strictly for their eggs so and as a result are somewhat sympathetic and can be emphasized with so their colorful more realistic design gives them an air of a natural Animal following parental instincts . Bird like creatures. Also love the battle towards the end no clear winner and brings back the baby Rex. Both animals are titans that can’t cleanly one up each other and I love it. Don’t know why JW believes all antagonists animals have to die. RIP GIGA (you REALLY didn’t deserve it.)
@@Realfm0lk I love the JW raptor squad. But, they look too CGI. The Indominous Rex looks the best in JW. The JP3 raptors look real to me. They are a mix of Stan Winston Animatronics and CGI.
12:28 This rewrite is a little bit better than the movie, but, the lab scene should’ve been the introduction of the Camouflaging Carnotaurus which causes the raptors to have atavistic fear of the area that plays out much like the novel. And the fight between the Tyrannosaur and the Spinosaur would end with the T-Rex killing the Spino viciously, winning and eating its new meal. But, otherwise pretty good rewrite for JP3.
The only reason I didn’t include the Carnotaurs in my new version of JP3 was because I use them already in my TLW: Redux script, and I didn’t wanna double-dip in the Carno well just because I LOVVVVE Carnotaurs. As for the fight, as I mentioned in another comment, I found it was better to leave the outcome unresolved to the audience. In point of fact, in my head, the fight ends with both dinosaurs surviving but the spinosaurus retreating back to their territory.
@@ultragalacticgamer7195 quite the difference when the Spinosaurus is not added as a "more powerful than T.rex" deal. Expecially when T.rex was considered as "the greatest predator that has ever lived" in the JP canon (and mentioned by Trembo), only to be basically retconned for the sake of marketing big bads. Another predator being able to hold it's own, and get out of a battle alive against a T.rex, even if it doesn't win/no one of the two dies, should have been the "shocking factor" and actually insane feat for big bads like Spinosaurus
Personally i liked how the tyrannosaurus wasn’t a huge part of the movie and giving the movie a break from the standard t-rex or raptors as the main antagonist of the film So i was somewhat relieved when the Spinosaurus snapped the neck of the Juvenile Rex, because it would’ve otherwise ended up without all of the amazing river scene with Grant, and the Kirby’s later on in the film. And had a repeat of the lost world with the Rex fest which would’ve just lost me completely in the film considering how poorly made with most aspects of it.
True. They made a figure of it for the JP III line even though it wasn't in the movie. That bothered me. Although, it made the comeback for them in dominion way more intense for me. And I loved it.
This is some good stuff, I'm not done yet only about nine minuets in but I had to mention this. On the "Alan" raptor that is so (correctly) derided, the very best idea I've heard of fixing it came from a content creator named, Evo, and she reworked the dream to be Dr. Grant awakening from a PTSD nightmare where he see a raptor's snout blasts his window with air, like he experienced in the first film. This felt far more visceral and helped sell Alan's trauma without the comical faux pas of having a raptor speak. Just wanted to get this out in case I forget by the end of the video.
I’ll be honest I was sceptical at first but I just couldn’t stop listening, it was really really good! You modified it enough to fix the parts that made it ridiculous or nonsense, and kept the core of the plot too, that’s talent. Nice work!

I would imagine a small reveal that Amanda worked for Biosyn but keeping it not actually mentioned would leave a lot of good speculation of who the other bio genetics firm she worked for.

One change. Dont kill the rex with a weaker dino (yes ik canonically the spino was a hybrid which is how it killed the rex. Just angers me that the rex got a neck bite in real fast and yet it didnt go anything to the spino
the spinosaurus in jp3 is confirmed not a hybrid at all, the very first hybrid ever created is scorpius Rex which it takes place after jp3 but before JW.
Nice ideas and takes for both sequels. JP3 is a guilty pleasure and I still will defend Lost World. I'm guessing you'll do Jurassic World next and just simply tweak some things in that movie. But what I am most fascinated about and try my hardest for the brain to work is what would Jurassic Park 4 have looked like if came out back in 2005 more naturally? And I wanna see that Speilburg idea if Grand and Malcolm back leading a team of people to round up flying and swimming dinosaurs mainly escaping Sorna and or Nublar. I see so many possibilities there and potential intriguing butterfly effect of how the franchise would look right now if that was made back then.
Even though it was never explained in JPIII; When Eric says "The closer to the water you are, the bigger things get", this might imply that a Mosasaur might have eaten the boat driver. The position of the boat did look a little too far out in the middle of the water for a Spinosaurus to get to and also looked like deep open sea water too; this might very much be the ascendant of the Mosasaur that we meet in Jurassic World 1.
Theres actually even more herbivores. Including: edmontosaurus, igunadon, herds of diplodicus, and maybe microceratosaurs, styracosaurus, dryosaurus and maiasaurus
While there are quite a few species and herds of dinosaurs on Sorna, the numbers aren’t good for a stable ecosystem. In the Serengeti, for instance, there is a predator-prey ratio of around 360 to 1. We don’t know how many raptors are in The Lost World but the most we see at once is 7, so let’s say 7 TLW raptors. While the most that appear on screen at once is only 5, the fact that there are multiple nests indicates there are more than one female in the tribe, and may in fact imply several packs within the tribe. Since there are 5 visible nests in Jurassic Park 3 we can now infer there are perhaps 25 Sornaensis raptors (5 females with 4 males in their pack, as with the pack that tracks the humans). That makes 32 raptors, probably more but let’s just say 32. Plus 3 tyrannosaurs for sure. One spinosaurus. One Ceratosaurus. We won’t get into species we don’t see on screen, even though there is sufficient evidence to say there are definitely more carnivores on that island. So there are 37 individual predators on Sorna at the very least, four of whom are superpredators. At the absolute lowest, the number of herbivores on Sorna, therefore must be over 13,000. There is no way the island can house that many animals.
An idea I had is with Barry Sembène who in my version of Jurassic World is an obstructive inspector-type character, more akin to novel Gennaro rather the movie version. He's very determined in having Jurassic World shut down, making him seemingly the antagonist. However, it would be revealed that he is the grandson of the worker that got killed by the Velociraptor, Jophery Brown. His mindset is not like that of the wealthy investors who only cared about money but a well-intentioned man who wanted to prevent anyone from losing a loved one like he did.
I completely disagree with keeping the Lost World Raptor designs. The Jp3 raptors are my favorite Raptor designs in the franchise, I especially like that they have bird like eyes instead of the slits they had previously.
Well, this was really good. If I recall correctly, this movie had one hell of a terrible production, including not even having a shooting script ready when they started filming. It is a wonder it works as well as it does. Would absolutely love to hear your version of JP3 as a follow up to your reworked Lost World.

I really, really wanted people to distrust Udesky at first but through his interactions with the other characters come to like him by the end of his arc. I like deaths to have some impact, especially when you have such a small cast. Offing Nash and Cooper within the first twenty minutes, and within minutes of one another, was a disappointing choice by the filmmakers, as it prevented us from getting to know them and thereby lessened the impact of their loss. It’s kind of crazy that inside of a half hour of the movie, the spino has made no less than 5 confirmed kills.
Very good on fixing the story structure for JP3. I always thought the original movie that was released in 2001 was such a messed, until i found out that behind the scenes. The filmmakers were so clueless, like they have no idea what to do to conclude the story without the involvement of Michael Crichton. At first, I thought you were gonna use some of the early ideas for JP3. Have you seen the early concept story like Jurassic Park Extinction or Jurassic Park Breakout? Those were like amazing concepts that kinda felt it was a Michael Crichton concept

In the JP novel, Lex was the Winey one of the two kids. Dr. Alan Grant was different in the novel as well, he likes children from beginning to end in that book.
Great video that oozes with love for the films, yet gets into the shortcomings. I also will never accept the feathery raptors and think they lose some scariness for the changes. I never noticed the rex changing color. Isn't it funny how toys will lean heavily toward one part of a dino's palette? Like how the spino toys are sometimes brown and sometimes gray?
The Pteranodons were the scariest dinos from the series for me. I used to actually get scared of them when I watched this movie as a kid! Like, the way that Alien scared me! Creepy birdies!
I really enjoyed listening to you telling the reworked story. I agree with almost all your changes and can tell your motivation is in line with someone who can see the good in this movie but knows it really begs to be better in some obvious ways.
Thank you! I’m glad I was able to get it across that JP3 wasn’t a bad movie in my estimation, just one that needed to have its good ideas fleshed out further and it’s motivating catalysts be bigger. Its visual choices might not always be my favorite in the franchise but I think there is far more good in Jurassic Park 3 than there is bad.
I would have loved this version of jp3 for sure. Imo I would have inserted the scene of cooper killing a baby spino, which explains why the spino is hunting them down around the island. Thank you for making this video, it was awesome
I considered adding that but, again, I wanted to separate the spinosaurus’ motives from the raptors, and make it a territorial predator rather than a vengeful parent. Additionally, I wanted the mercenaries to have sympathetic character traits so it’d be more impactful when they kick the bucket. If Cooper had been responsible for the death of the young Spinosaur, it would be more like satisfying comeuppance than heartbreaking terror.
Since it was revealed in the new trilogy's tie in material that the Spino, and Ceratosaur were only 2 years old then, I think its worth considering that the velociraptors encountered in JP3 were new InGen creations also, and the over abundance of predators was what contributed to the islands ecological collapse that was revealed in Fallen Kingdom tie in material. That said, its canon that not including Junior and the Rex in JP3, that there were 6 rex specimens on the Island, and Buck from The Lost World had fought at least one of them for the right to mate with Doe. Between them and just the original raptor pack, its safe to say that the Island would have suffered collapse even without the addition of Spinosaur and Ceratosaur
@@BryanIra305 yes, realistically it would have never made it to 1999 unless the offspring inherit the clone's accelerated growth rates meaning they reach sexual maturity sooner and the herbivores were able to reproduce like wildfire

Trespasser is a very strange thing. It’s Schrodinger’s Jurassic: both canon and not canon at the same time. But regardless of that, the inherent instability of having so many carnivores jostling for territory on an island the size of Sorna is really hard to believe.

I didn't really think the ecosystem is that small on Sorna since it is the biggest of the five deaths TLW has the redwoods and open fields and 3 has the dense forest and green fields with a river system
Sorna is acknowledged to be larger than Nublar and the rest of the Cinco Muertes, but it’s never specified how large it is as far as I have seen. We just know that it has several distinct ecosystems that don’t quite make sense and was just a product of a visual aesthetic Spielberg wished to utilize. The argument can of course be made that there’s plenty of space for all the different species but in comparison to other larger ecosystems with predator to prey ratios, it’s not sustainable. Considering this has been the island for around 7 or 8 years since Hurricane Clarissa, a balance in that ratio would have long since been established.
The movie ends without a true victor so the audience can decide for themselves who they feel should win. But it’s in my head that the Rex wins, though the spino is not killed and retreats back to its territory with a new respect for Rexes.
While the original movie gives me a sense of awe and wonder making me feel like I’ve seen a dinosaur for the first time again, TLW & JP3 make me really feel immersed, it’s like the ultimate fantasy for a dinosaur fan, being on an island filled with different species and getting to observe them in nature.
I have always always ALWAYS felt that way about Jurassic Park in general. Lost World was my biggest disappointment in the entire franchise because from 1993 to 1997 all I could do was think about what a follow up would look like, and it was a lot like what you just described. I was influenced HEAVILY by the promotional material, including all of the picture books and most especially the art cards that came with the Series 1 Kenner toys. They helped my imagination fill in what Jurassic Park looked like on the periphery, or what it could have been if things had gone differently. Lost World and JP3 didn’t look exactly like it-which is my own problem and no one else’s, and certainly not the filmmakers’ lol. But I understand completely where you’re coming from!
@BryanIra305 I have learned a lot on generation differences. If I was born in the late 80s, I'd love the first movie most, and chances if not by Lost World, by Jurassic Park 3 I'd be fairly disappointed. It is a matter of age of being exposed and nostalgia, let alone human preference. So for me as a 2001 kid, I enjoyed the original 3, just entertained most by 2 and 3 as just real fun action rides. And I had enthusiastic hype of what a JP4 could've been like carrying that style in its own way for years. But then after the JW Trilogy, first I was happy to have them, but now, I miss when a JP Sequel didn't lean on nostalgic rehashes of so many 1st movie elements, and made the dinos more imposing than push overs. That is one thing JP2 and 3 have over all 3 JW flicks in my opinion. I wanted JP4 to be like the Sorna movies, in that sure some elements of previous movies carry over, but it was its own movie then milking so much we've seen before.

It was never implied that Grant did not remember what a T-Rex sounded like; he still knows what they sound like, he just didn't know what a Spinosaurus sounded like because; 1. there was no Spinosaurus on Isla Nublar and 2. he have never been on Isla Sorna before JP III.
Grant’s response to the roar is “I don’t think so,” the implication being that he’s not quite sure and doesn’t quite remember if this is a sound a tyrannosaur would make. It’s a nitpick but it just always went down a little sour for me.
@@BryanIra305; I'd give it a re-watch if I were you, he says "It sounds bigger" after he says "I don't think so", you see the dialogue was technically more about the Spinosaurus than the T-Rex, we only get the implacable confirmation later on after Grant finds the Spinosaurus tooth.
I still feel like, to remove ambiguity and better hint at Grant’s bad memories of the park, that it’s made crystal clear that Grant remembers precisely what a Rex sounds like. That’s why I’d have written it as “No. Sounds bigger” instead. Now we remove uncertainty and it lends a little weight to the revelation later on that Grant doesn’t much like dinosaurs anymore.
I would have liked to see them find evidence of Dr. Wu and InGen returning to Isla Sorna. They could've seen log dates or files explaining the illegally cloned Spinosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Ankylosaurus, and Corythosaurus.
The Lost World was a perfect movie and a perfect sequel to conclude the saga of Jurassic Park! This rewritten JP3 is better than the released JP3 though.
I completely agree with this statement, well kinda, just add in some deleted tlw scenes and the og ending with some changes to fit in with the San Diego sequence and we got a perfect sequel

Grant's "Talking Velociraptor" dream was put in there as comic relief to give us a few chuckles; it is unsettling because its funny, it is funny because it is unsettling 😂LOL.
I like this version way more. I especially love the idea of the baby rex from lost world returning as an adult. It's a nice Easter egg to lost world. I also like your version of the t-rex vs spinosaurus fight. It's longer, more drawn out and the rex seemed to be dominant so it's awesome. I really wish this was the actual version. It would have been masterpiece. I agree with your view on jp3 in every way possible. I'm feeling way too nostalgic right now I think I'm gonna cry the entire Atlantic ocean. People would not be angry at the film if this was the version we got. And people wouldn't be attacking rex fans for being toxic because they weren't forced to like a new dinosaur more than T-Rex in the first place. Nothing wrong with a new dinosaur I love that idea all too well. But it's just people constantly bashing rex fans in favor of the killers is just tiring. I get their feelings too but com on man. My main problem is films just treating the t-rex like a joke. That's what I want to see change. Your version didn't have that problem so it's fantastic. Let's just treat this as the canon version, shall we?
Aww man I appreciate this comment so much! It’s always nice when my vision aligns with someone else’s, for sure! Although I do love talking about differences in concepts and ideas, justifying my stances and choices and finding new points to consider, it’s such a great change of pace to just be able to agree with someone with similar sentiments lol! There is a lot of “toxicity” with regard to the Rex/spino but as Dominion proves, you can establish the power of one of the dinosaurs without having to straight up murder the other. And leaving the fight ambiguous allows the audience to fill in the blanks for themselves, although I myself like the idea that the spinosaurus retreats to its territory in defeat but with its life. I think the original movie is underrated in my opinion it just needed to change three scenes the first with the boat crash show what actually killed the men (new creature plesiosaurus would of been cool) so we can see abit of action right away like in the first movie, also put back in the original reason the spino was going after the humans (Cooper shot it's juvenile that's why he was injured in the first place), & have the spino attack one last time but the big raptor pack either defeats it reversing the ending fight from the first movie or the military just chops it with there arsenal
I think the reason they deleted the Cooper kills the spino juvenile subplot was because it was too similar to the raptor’s subplot: they both involved the parent(s) chasing down the humans for the sake of their offspring. It mirrored the Kirbys’ motivations for going to the island in the first place, but I think it was just too heavy-handed and repetitive for the filmmakers to justify, so they cut it. I personally think they should have cut the raptor subplot instead since the raptors don’t need additional reasons to be human stalkers, but the spinosaurus’ actions seem largely silly because they remove its original motivation leaving just an animal that wishes to expend all its energy on chasing down these humans for-what, exactly? It killed two guys right off the bat and then a t-rex. It’s got food for weeks, if not months. So I’m definitely with you on that.
(Not finished watching the video yet) I found it too far fetched to have raptors go after the humans FOR just the 2(!!) eggs. Look at their nests... they have tons of eggs... they are smart... but they can't count. I was also a bit disappointed that the nests designs are so on the nose. A lot of birds make very big intricate designed nests and I would love to have seen this for the raptors nests too. The openingscene should have had a dinosaur in it and a more scary vibe. Ben & Eric should have crashed into the tree and Ben gets stuck. He tells Eric to flee when some raptors pop up. Ben gets tangled in the sail's ropes when he is climbing up and tries to escape the raptors. Then he accidentally slips and hangs himself while we see Eric who keeps running into the jungle.
This is a way better narrative of JP3. The only thing I'm on the fence about is the last dino battle scene. If we go with this version, the one from Jurassic world with Rexy, Blue, and the indominus rex (plus mosasaur) would lose its novelty (by that I mean the reviving power JW brought to the franchise) and would just be a cop out for a sequel. I wish you do another one for JW with this version's continuity in mind. Great video!
Thank you for this comment! I will say that when trying to deal with these rewrites I did not consider at all the future of the franchise or their continuity. I just imagined I was a writer on the film back in 1999/2000 and they asked me to improve their version of the movie. The only thing I did take into account was what my ideas for a JP3 story based on my TLW: Redux may include so that I didn’t tread familiar ground every time. There’s a lot of potential retelling in the franchise and I’m glad some of my concepts are resonating!
It might have been an improvement, but it all feels like it fits in the runtime of JP3. I think the movie could have been better if it was 45 minutes to 1 hour longer. More story, survival, exploration, scavenging, and maybe the passing of another day. Maybe an additional subplot that's left open ended so the new trilogy could tie in more smoothly.
Thank you! I think it only feels that way because I couldn’t do much dialogue or scene direction or specifics (unless it dealt with the overall plot). My Lost World video was MUCH less detailed but the script I’m writing for it is about to enter the third act and I’m on page 121 (for reference, one page is generally equivalent to one minute of screen time). Which means my TLW script is over two hours in length and still going strong lol.
It’s not a bad idea but I think it’s too close to the motives of the raptors, which are also tied to parenthood, and again chips away at what separates the raptors from the other dinosaurs. That’s why I kept the spinosaurus a simple animal with aggressive territorial tendencies-to allow the comparative intelligence of the raptors to shine.
@@BryanIra305 ur right. I've thought about it that way as well. But there's one thing that bothered when i thought that way. Apexs like t rex and spino are highly territorial. And it doesn't just leave it's territory like that to hunt down a bunch of small humans . Unless it has some serious rage towards them. In the movie , not only did it leave it's territory, it went into another apex , T rex's territory and killed one. So if cooper had killed one of it's babies, it would make more sense for it to follow the humans to such long distance without giving up.
It is a compelling concept, which is why I really liked how it was used in the Lost World. The Spino in my story believed the barge was the primary threat to its territory. When it found the humans on the beach, it pursued because it’s a predator.
I do appreciate making the Rex / Spino fight the main-event match it deserved to be, instead of the insultingly short 20-second throwaway squash match that we got.
It is the single most disappointing sequence in the movie, hands down. I don’t like the outcome they went with but there’s no doubt it still could have been a great sequence if they’d made it longer.
How was the Spinosaurus in the process of the creation when the main lab facilities were already destroyed by the hurricane in JP 1? Because it was completely nonexistent in LWJP, even the Ceratosaurs was a no show in the second film too. Which side of Isla Sorna was being based in LWJP and which side of Isla Sorna was being landed in JPIII?
Here's my take on Jurassic Park 3: Alan and Ellie are a married couple, but Ellie keeps her last name, Sattler, however. The Spinosaurus's arrival remains the same as it was, except there are 2 Spinosaurus instead of 1. The female dies after being hit by the plane, causing her mate to track down the group, seeking vengeance. Here's a little fun fact: There was supposed to be an ending where Alan found the Dinosoar boat from the opening and suggested that the culprits were none other than the Pteranodons. Then, the Pteranodons would pop out from the trees and attack the helicopters, so I'm gonna keep it. Oh yeah, about the T-Rex vs Spino fight: I would have the battle take place in the river where Paul uses the T-Rex piss to lure an unexpecting Bull T-Rex (This is the same one from the original JP3.) The battle is much longer than the one in the film. Grant would then shoot the flare gun just like he did in the original film, causing both of the dinosaurs to immediately retreat.

Really good re-write, man, I guess my only gripe would have to be Udesky's death. Unless I'm incorrectly picturing how the clash between the rex, and spino goes down, I feel like both animals at that point would be far too focused on each other to be concerned with the humans' whereabouts, much like in the actual movie. I could see Udesky dying as collateral damage via falling, and being trampled/crushed in some way, or getting smacked with one of their tails, which would also likely be an instant death. But the rex taking the opportunity to snatch him up while in the middle of a fight is asking me to suspend my disbelief just a little too much. Other than that, I thought you did great. JP3 released when I was ten years old, and I was so hyped, and was honestly very disappointed. I loved the first two films, and really wanted to love the third, but every time I watch it, it always leaves so much to be desired. I could only convince myself I loved it for so long. It's a sad thing to see the state this franchise has tanked to.

While I appreciate that some enjoy the colors of the animals in JP3, in the end it is a subjective topic. Any time I express that I don’t like something, I’m expressing an opinion, not a solid fact. And yes, I do happen to like the tiger striping on the TLW male raptors, probably because that’s how they’re described in Crichton’s novels. I will say that because they are never seen in daytime during the film’s runtime, it’s hard to even distinguish that they have bright tiger stripes anyway. Certainly they don’t appear as garish and visually loud as the JP3 dinosaurs.

That’s actually a really great question, because it plays into how I like to think of this evolution in the dinosaur colors. Again, I prefer the blander colors on the dinosaurs because that’s how large animals in today’s world look. Elephants, rhinos, crocodiles, lions, all have pretty boring color schemes. However, we also have tigers, giraffes, birds of every hue and shade. It’s hard to even guess. With Jurassic Park 3, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I grew up with what I believed were more realistic coloring in Jurassic Park and Lost World, and when 2001 rolled around with all those bright, gaudy tones, it was hard for me to accept. On the other hand, my expectations for the Jurassic World franchise were so low that their palette choices did not offend me nearly as much. I’ll go on the record right now and say I don’t care for the raptor colors in Jurassic World. I never did but they didn’t make me want to gouge my eyes out either. And the way I’ve been able to handle it canonically is based on a passage from the JP novel, in which Henry Wu tries to convince Hammond to let him genetically modify the DNA of the animals to make them more docile and make them look more appealing. I think that the Wu of the movies was always doing that, trying to make the dinosaurs more visually stunning. I think that accounts for the Jurassic Park 3 dinosaurs, and why some of the dinosaurs from Jurassic World are more colorful too. I accept it as canonicity even if I’m not a fan of bright colors.
I thought jurassic park 3 was one of the best jurassic park movies simply because when I saw it in theaters I was like 10 years old but it scared the hell out of me when the spino got Cooper and messed up the plane , it terrified me. and I still love this movie to this day. especially the raptors.
Not to get too technical but albinism would require that all coloration be replaced with pale white, including any striations. It would also make the animals eyes red. It could be leucistic, but again it’s pigmentation would be completely white in that case. I do assume that the pack is a different tribe from Lost World though.

Personally some things i would add is a more extensive scene with the Ceratosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Apatosaurus Corythosaurus, Parasaurolophus representing a scene that resembles a moment from Camp Cretaceous Season 2 with the watering hole that gives a slight sense of peace in this movie that has been chaotic for almost the entirety of its runtime. And definitely include the camouflaging, Chameleon-like Carnotaurus from TLW Crichton novel making an appearance and perhaps killing off one of the mercenaries when ambushing the group. at the end of the scene this could end in the Carnotaurus being killed and eaten by the Juvenile Rex (for funsies) leading to the escape of the others.
The Ceratosaurs get a whole big stalking scene, I just shortened it for the sake of brevity since it would just end in all the characters escaping intact. In my head it’s a super tense situation. As for the moments of peace, I actually have quite a few in that story, and would have included many of the creatures you name! The Carnos I have in my Lost World Redux story, and I didn’t wanna repeat myself even though I’m a big BIG fan of Carnotaurs.

I have been interested in the discussion of the Raptors and their veracity in the saga's lore. My way of understanding the representation in Jurasic Park 3 is that in the same way in which they mutated to change sex, the process has developed to such a point that the Raptors in the wild have developed a clear sexual dimorphism, more pronounced than in previous films and the incorporation of "featherage" is a result of this (and the desire to incorporate the "new" discoveries of the field). I also think that helps them develop a more... tribal look.
honestly, I like this rewrite, though as the last one, I do have some ideas of my own. 1. You argue about how Tim and Lex are so loosely used in TLW while you keep Ellie out of any involvement in the plot, resulting in an ending near identical to the previous movie. Looking at it retrospectively the only likely reason why Ellie and Grant were split is because they wanted a plausible reason for Ellie's involvement in the plot by being involved with a man who could theoretically get them off the island. and in this rewrite, you really didn't explain the whole Grant not having kids thing despite making such a big deal of it. 2. the changing of the Jp3 raptors to the TLW for continuity is fine (mostly) but you didn't explain where the spino or new pteranodons came from. Secondly, the argument you make against them kinda falls flat when you have to realize that the TLW tiger raptors and their female counterparts are not the same ones from the first movie. (See Dino Style Guide by Marco Makes for comparison) If all three raptors in the first movie were female, then one would have turned male, bred, and then turned back into a female for essentially no reason. 3. I like the idea of Amanda being more of a villain. The idea, of her not necessarily wanting harm to come to her son yet willing to let him go on what was essentially a coverup for her company feels like a great twist villain, almost reminding me of Hammond from the novel. It may also hint at the reason for the Kirby's divorce in the first place.
Thank you so much for this comment because you actually hit on some things I didn’t get into that I kind of wanted to in the video but felt maybe were superfluous. 1. As I kind of mentioned already, I really wanted to honor the story the finished film was trying to tell, which meant that coming up with a good reason to drag Ellie and/or Tim and/or Lex to the island would be a convoluted and ultimately unnecessary exercise in mental gymnastics. I even considered replacing Billy with Tim but in doing the math realized that in 2001 Tim was still much too young to be Grant’s student or realistically be Grant’s second hand for this trip. I therefore decided to make Billy more obviously a spiritual stand-in for Tim for Grant to work through his emotional journey. Now that obviously also meant that I’d have to figure a way to keep both Ellie and any potential children they’d had out of the proceedings. But I didn’t want to dilute Grant’s character arc over Tim’s own journey of discovery by introducing new children characters who would more conceivably “replace” Grant’s expectations and temper his disappointment in Tim’s decision. Additionally, you’ve actually hit on a topic I was more eager to explore in an alternate JP3 story taking place in my Redux universe, and I didn’t wanna retread too much familiar ground. 2. The only reason the Spinosaurus’ existence is in anyway a mystery to the characters is because Jurassic Park 3 says it’s a mystery. To that point in the franchise, ankylosaurs hadn’t been mentioned either. It’s a simple thing to just kind of gloss over that aspect and never directly deal with InGen’s shady practices. I mean, we know for a fact they had Metriacanthosaurs but in six movies we’ve never seen them. It can be assumed that the reverse is true and that there are simply dinosaurs they created which hadn’t been mentioned or hinted at to that point in the franchise. The audience is willing to accept that. As for the new pteranodons, I never really get into what the pterandons in my version look like. I do mention I liked the newer designs just fine, but I do prefer the design on the TLW one and I’d have probably, had I been in charge, kept that one both for the sake of continuity and personal taste. How that one got out in TLW? I don’t have an answer and neither do the filmmakers apparently lol. Now for the raptors, none of the three primary raptors in Jurassic Park, by the continuity and canon of lore, are male. They are all female. According to Muldoon, there were eight originally bred and the Big One had killed all but two others. According to the lore, they used to be out in the park but had to be moved to the pen because they kept escaping. That’s why the eggs are out in the park and not in the pen. The raptors are matriarchal, a point Jurassic Park 3 and Jurassic World makes clear. So the Big One must by necessity be female since she’s in charge. It can be presumed therefore that following the laying of the eggs, the Big One was introduced into the group from Isla Nublar, murdered five of the others, including any raptors that had changed gender, prompting the park to move them to the pen. The nest was left behind unprotected and undiscovered. 3. Thanks! I felt JP3 lacked a good central human villain but wanted to buck the trend that all the bad guys just get their just dessert rather than be provided some sort of redemption arc.

The Pteranodons attack the boat in the beginning.. we see pteranodons flying free at the end of The Lost World, so it is a valid theory. It also makes more sense that flying dinosaurs can catch a motorboat vs a swimming spino.

Also. Jurassic Park III takes place on a different larger fictional Costa Rican Island. Isla Sorna. While the original Jurassic Park island is Isla Nublar. So the group wouldn't find Dr. Henry Wus old office from the first movie there. And that also explains why some of the Jurassic Park III dinosaurs look different too.
I believe it is implied if not outright confirmed in the Lost World novel that Wu had an office on Sorna, since that was where the major work was happening anyway. I imagine he went back and forth between Nublar and Sorna quite a bit.
Once I’m done with this series and JP3 Redux, I’ll be looking to maybe continue the series in some other form, such as looking at unmade ideas from the franchise, Camp Cretaceous and maybe Evolution of Claire!
Instead of the spino being territorial i would do like the concept, when Copper would get attacked by a baby spino, Copper kill the baby wich the mother/father witness leading into a revenge quest agains the main crew.
There’s another comment around here where I address that a little! But essentially it might be a little too heavy-handed to have all major dinosaur threats to the characters be motivated by their parental instincts.
I have actually considered this. InGen is said to have manipulated the DNA to accelerate the growth of their animals so it would make sense that a new generation of raptors has come to replace the ones we see in Lost World. The theory, unfortunately, has a few holes. Accelerated growth would likely have the opposite effect on the raptors. Rather than becoming purer, the compounding of their manipulated DNA would serve to degrade the purity of it further. They seem like successful hunters so there’s no reason why InGen’s invented genes would die out in favor of a more natural selection. Additionally, due to the nature of the accelerated growth-which again would have to happen for a fully grown pack of raptors to have replaced the pack seen in Lost World-the dinosaurs would have less time to rear their young and establish how raptor society is supposed to function. And yet in JP3 the raptors we see are highly coordinated and disciplined, which is slightly different from their portrayals in the previous films, where killing and snapping at each other is not uncommon. So this by necessity must be a second tribe. I won’t get into the colors or designs either because a journey to purity would also probably not include white coloring or maintaining the size of their previous generation.
In the aftermath of that movie, I had A LOT of notes. Lots of dropped balls in the finale of the trilogy. On the basis of the Legacy characters, it’s the JW I’m most likely to watch.

To the depths of my soul, I will never understand why they killed the Giga. It wasn’t necessary or cathartic or even thematically relevant. The giga did nothing to deserve it! As for the raptors, you’re not wrong and it’s a really great point you’re making that I had not really considered. The raptors were underutilized in TLW but their role in the first two films was just to be killers. A motive beyond being killers was a welcome change to the narrative, which is why I kept that subplot almost fully intact (considering it also mirrors the Kirbys’ tenacity in saving their son). I can also see how the designs are inspired by bird plumage, and that makes sense to me on a base level. However, I simply cannot abide the change, no matter how I slice it 😅 I much more liked the coloration of the JW raptors even if I wasn’t thrilled with the tweaks to their overall shape.
This is some great stuff! Im very impressed with your storytelling. My only point of contention is the initial spino intro. I wouldnt even show it during the take-off scene. Perhaps seeing trees getting knocked down as the plane flies above. Kinda a Jaws-like reveal. I hate how the original movie introduced it so early & killed off 2 mercenaries. We literally loset 20 minutes of character building with that decision. Love your vocabulary & ability to make talking/storytelling interesting. Quite poignant.
Thank you very much! I have to admit, it’s pretty tough getting across a vision with what amounts to a synopsis of each scene, but you actually kind of nailed how the spino would be introduced. A lot of seeing it through the glass of the plane as the panes jitter, a lot of motion to blur our view of it, chaotic viewpoints from the character perspective. In point of fact, the first time we would clearly see the spinosaurus would probably be on the beach at the climax of the film. Its introductory scene would consist of establishing glimpses, the river attack would be partially obscured by the rain and darkness and water, and it wouldn’t be until the broad daylight flight down the beach that we would see it in its full glory.
Dominion is literally what prompted me to begin considering this topic. If it had been done well, I might not be doing these videos at all! But I felt the best way to start would be at the beginning.

Jurassic Park actually has extremely good world building compared to other movie franchises, I think the biggest faults with the sequels mostly just relates to the characters.
I might actually do the whole of Camp Cretaceous. I love the concept and the first few seasons are pretty good but I feel like there were a lot of things they could have done to really make CC more than a footnote in the saga.
No idea how you have so few subscribers, this video was incredible. Really loved how you still kept all the main characters, and the same basic plot as the original, but were able to make it flow so much smoother and with so much more action and background. Thank you very much! I never liked the finality of the fight we got (or how short it was). The idea that the Bull Rex we spent so much time with in TLW could just be offed in less than a few minutes was so insulting and anti-climactic. Leaving the victor ambiguous felt right. :)

I REALLY prefer the Spino/Rex fight being at the end, as it feels so much more appropriate having the big duel at the height of the film as opposed to the first act. In fact, when I was a kid and first heard about the Rex & Spino fight from my older brother, I was under the impression that was the direction the film was going in. I was honestly very disappointed when I saw the film and how quickly the Rex got beat.

When you brought out the T. Rex vs Spinosaurus fight at the end I was afraid you’d do the typical “Rex beats the Spino” thing that people do whenever they rewrite the fight or have these two species fight in the series. Leaving the outcome ambiguous is a way better call and better compromise imo. That way nobody can say one can definitely beat the other while also showing that these were more of a rival/nemesis species towards each other (if that makes sense). Overall awesome fix to the story.
And now I wait for people to tell me how wrong I am.
I knew early on I wanted an epic showdown with the two at the climax of the film. I didn’t know who to allow win for a while lol. Eventually I realized there didn’t have to be one. As I’ve mentioned previously in other comments, in my head the fight ends with the spinosaurus retreating back to its territory, alive.

It’s been really interesting to hear how many people love the sequels as they are, and I can appreciate that while the majority of viewers weren’t on board with JP3, there are those who enjoyed it and only have minor nitpicks with the finished product. Funfact: the original plot teased for Jurassic park 3 was that the dinosaurs were returning back to their old selfs. That's why the raptors have slight quills. And honestly, It sound like a Better plot than the actual plot for the movie.

This was really good. I love a lot of the ideas you thought of. Had Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment went with this story for Jurassic Park 3, it would have been much better. I would also add having the T-Rex defeat the Spinosaurus in their battle.

I like the idea of the rex getting slashed up in the first encounter and walking off, only to come back for round 2 having learned that it needs to proactively disable the spino’s arms, at least one of them, and then proceeds to do so to claim victory.

Yeah big time disagree with the design of the raptors, but the rest of the rewrite is pretty good.
Just personally I always felt that since Raptors from 1 & 2 always acted like vicious monsters, killing humans and each other, their design matched. Lizard like monsters.
The raptors of JP3 pursued the Humans strictly for their eggs so and as a result are somewhat sympathetic and can be emphasized with so their colorful more realistic design gives them an air of a natural Animal following parental instincts . Bird like creatures.
Also love the battle towards the end no clear winner and brings back the baby Rex. Both animals are titans that can’t cleanly one up each other and I love it. Don’t know why JW believes all antagonists animals have to die.

This rewrite is a little bit better than the movie, but, the lab scene should’ve been the introduction of the Camouflaging Carnotaurus which causes the raptors to have atavistic fear of the area that plays out much like the novel. And the fight between the Tyrannosaur and the Spinosaur would end with the T-Rex killing the Spino viciously, winning and eating its new meal. But, otherwise pretty good rewrite for JP3.
The only reason I didn’t include the Carnotaurs in my new version of JP3 was because I use them already in my TLW: Redux script, and I didn’t wanna double-dip in the Carno well just because I LOVVVVE Carnotaurs. As for the fight, as I mentioned in another comment, I found it was better to leave the outcome unresolved to the audience. In point of fact, in my head, the fight ends with both dinosaurs surviving but the spinosaurus retreating back to their territory.

Expecially when T.rex was considered as "the greatest predator that has ever lived" in the JP canon (and mentioned by Trembo), only to be basically retconned for the sake of marketing big bads.
Another predator being able to hold it's own, and get out of a battle alive against a T.rex, even if it doesn't win/no one of the two dies, should have been the "shocking factor" and actually insane feat for big bads like Spinosaurus
Personally i liked how the tyrannosaurus wasn’t a huge part of the movie and giving the movie a break from the standard t-rex or raptors as the main antagonist of the film
So i was somewhat relieved when the Spinosaurus snapped the neck of the Juvenile Rex, because it would’ve otherwise ended up without all of the amazing river scene with Grant, and the Kirby’s later on in the film. And had a repeat of the lost world with the Rex fest which would’ve just lost me completely in the film considering how poorly made with most aspects of it.

True. They made a figure of it for the JP III line even though it wasn't in the movie. That bothered me. Although, it made the comeback for them in dominion way more intense for me. And I loved it.
This is some good stuff, I'm not done yet only about nine minuets in but I had to mention this.
On the "Alan" raptor that is so (correctly) derided, the very best idea I've heard of fixing it came from a content creator named, Evo, and she reworked the dream to be Dr. Grant awakening from a PTSD nightmare where he see a raptor's snout blasts his window with air, like he experienced in the first film.
This felt far more visceral and helped sell Alan's trauma without the comical faux pas of having a raptor speak.
Just wanted to get this out in case I forget by the end of the video.

One change. Dont kill the rex with a weaker dino (yes ik canonically the spino was a hybrid which is how it killed the rex. Just angers me that the rex got a neck bite in real fast and yet it didnt go anything to the spino

Nice ideas and takes for both sequels. JP3 is a guilty pleasure and I still will defend Lost World.
I'm guessing you'll do Jurassic World next and just simply tweak some things in that movie. But what I am most fascinated about and try my hardest for the brain to work is what would Jurassic Park 4 have looked like if came out back in 2005 more naturally?
And I wanna see that Speilburg idea if Grand and Malcolm back leading a team of people to round up flying and swimming dinosaurs mainly escaping Sorna and or Nublar.
I see so many possibilities there and potential intriguing butterfly effect of how the franchise would look right now if that was made back then.
Even though it was never explained in JPIII; When Eric says "The closer to the water you are, the bigger things get", this might imply that a Mosasaur might have eaten the boat driver. The position of the boat did look a little too far out in the middle of the water for a Spinosaurus to get to and also looked like deep open sea water too; this might very much be the ascendant of the Mosasaur that we meet in Jurassic World 1.
Theres actually even more herbivores. Including: edmontosaurus, igunadon, herds of diplodicus, and maybe microceratosaurs, styracosaurus, dryosaurus and maiasaurus
While there are quite a few species and herds of dinosaurs on Sorna, the numbers aren’t good for a stable ecosystem. In the Serengeti, for instance, there is a predator-prey ratio of around 360 to 1. We don’t know how many raptors are in The Lost World but the most we see at once is 7, so let’s say 7 TLW raptors. While the most that appear on screen at once is only 5, the fact that there are multiple nests indicates there are more than one female in the tribe, and may in fact imply several packs within the tribe. Since there are 5 visible nests in Jurassic Park 3 we can now infer there are perhaps 25 Sornaensis raptors (5 females with 4 males in their pack, as with the pack that tracks the humans). That makes 32 raptors, probably more but let’s just say 32. Plus 3 tyrannosaurs for sure. One spinosaurus. One Ceratosaurus. We won’t get into species we don’t see on screen, even though there is sufficient evidence to say there are definitely more carnivores on that island. So there are 37 individual predators on Sorna at the very least, four of whom are superpredators. At the absolute lowest, the number of herbivores on Sorna, therefore must be over 13,000. There is no way the island can house that many animals.
An idea I had is with Barry Sembène who in my version of Jurassic World is an obstructive inspector-type character, more akin to novel Gennaro rather the movie version.
He's very determined in having Jurassic World shut down, making him seemingly the antagonist. However, it would be revealed that he is the grandson of the worker that got killed by the Velociraptor, Jophery Brown. His mindset is not like that of the wealthy investors who only cared about money but a well-intentioned man who wanted to prevent anyone from losing a loved one like he did.

I completely disagree with keeping the Lost World Raptor designs. The Jp3 raptors are my favorite Raptor designs in the franchise, I especially like that they have bird like eyes instead of the slits they had previously.

If I recall correctly, this movie had one hell of a terrible production, including not even having a shooting script ready when they started filming. It is a wonder it works as well as it does.

Damn, the beach scene was great. Poor Udeski.
I really, really wanted people to distrust Udesky at first but through his interactions with the other characters come to like him by the end of his arc. I like deaths to have some impact, especially when you have such a small cast. Offing Nash and Cooper within the first twenty minutes, and within minutes of one another, was a disappointing choice by the filmmakers, as it prevented us from getting to know them and thereby lessened the impact of their loss. It’s kind of crazy that inside of a half hour of the movie, the spino has made no less than 5 confirmed kills.
Very good on fixing the story structure for JP3. I always thought the original movie that was released in 2001 was such a messed, until i found out that behind the scenes. The filmmakers were so clueless, like they have no idea what to do to conclude the story without the involvement of Michael Crichton.
At first, I thought you were gonna use some of the early ideas for JP3. Have you seen the early concept story like Jurassic Park Extinction or Jurassic Park Breakout? Those were like amazing concepts that kinda felt it was a Michael Crichton concept

In the JP novel, Lex was the Winey one of the two kids. Dr. Alan Grant was different in the novel as well, he likes children from beginning to end in that book.
Great video that oozes with love for the films, yet gets into the shortcomings. I also will never accept the feathery raptors and think they lose some scariness for the changes. I never noticed the rex changing color. Isn't it funny how toys will lean heavily toward one part of a dino's palette? Like how the spino toys are sometimes brown and sometimes gray?
The Pteranodons were the scariest dinos from the series for me. I used to actually get scared of them when I watched this movie as a kid! Like, the way that Alien scared me! Creepy birdies!
I really enjoyed listening to you telling the reworked story. I agree with almost all your changes and can tell your motivation is in line with someone who can see the good in this movie but knows it really begs to be better in some obvious ways.
Thank you! I’m glad I was able to get it across that JP3 wasn’t a bad movie in my estimation, just one that needed to have its good ideas fleshed out further and it’s motivating catalysts be bigger. Its visual choices might not always be my favorite in the franchise but I think there is far more good in Jurassic Park 3 than there is bad.
I would have loved this version of jp3 for sure. Imo I would have inserted the scene of cooper killing a baby spino, which explains why the spino is hunting them down around the island. Thank you for making this video, it was awesome
I considered adding that but, again, I wanted to separate the spinosaurus’ motives from the raptors, and make it a territorial predator rather than a vengeful parent. Additionally, I wanted the mercenaries to have sympathetic character traits so it’d be more impactful when they kick the bucket. If Cooper had been responsible for the death of the young Spinosaur, it would be more like satisfying comeuppance than heartbreaking terror.
Since it was revealed in the new trilogy's tie in material that the Spino, and Ceratosaur were only 2 years old then, I think its worth considering that the velociraptors encountered in JP3 were new InGen creations also, and the over abundance of predators was what contributed to the islands ecological collapse that was revealed in Fallen Kingdom tie in material.
That said, its canon that not including Junior and the Rex in JP3, that there were 6 rex specimens on the Island, and Buck from The Lost World had fought at least one of them for the right to mate with Doe. Between them and just the original raptor pack, its safe to say that the Island would have suffered collapse even without the addition of Spinosaur and Ceratosaur

Trespasser is a very strange thing. It’s Schrodinger’s Jurassic: both canon and not canon at the same time. But regardless of that, the inherent instability of having so many carnivores jostling for territory on an island the size of Sorna is really hard to believe.

I didn't really think the ecosystem is that small on Sorna since it is the biggest of the five deaths TLW has the redwoods and open fields and 3 has the dense forest and green fields with a river system
Sorna is acknowledged to be larger than Nublar and the rest of the Cinco Muertes, but it’s never specified how large it is as far as I have seen. We just know that it has several distinct ecosystems that don’t quite make sense and was just a product of a visual aesthetic Spielberg wished to utilize. The argument can of course be made that there’s plenty of space for all the different species but in comparison to other larger ecosystems with predator to prey ratios, it’s not sustainable. Considering this has been the island for around 7 or 8 years since Hurricane Clarissa, a balance in that ratio would have long since been established.
I have a question did the T-Rex win or was it a draw I'm just curious about it??
The movie ends without a true victor so the audience can decide for themselves who they feel should win. But it’s in my head that the Rex wins, though the spino is not killed and retreats back to its territory with a new respect for Rexes.

While the original movie gives me a sense of awe and wonder making me feel like I’ve seen a dinosaur for the first time again, TLW & JP3 make me really feel immersed, it’s like the ultimate fantasy for a dinosaur fan, being on an island filled with different species and getting to observe them in nature.
I have always always ALWAYS felt that way about Jurassic Park in general. Lost World was my biggest disappointment in the entire franchise because from 1993 to 1997 all I could do was think about what a follow up would look like, and it was a lot like what you just described. I was influenced HEAVILY by the promotional material, including all of the picture books and most especially the art cards that came with the Series 1 Kenner toys. They helped my imagination fill in what Jurassic Park looked like on the periphery, or what it could have been if things had gone differently. Lost World and JP3 didn’t look exactly like it-which is my own problem and no one else’s, and certainly not the filmmakers’ lol. But I understand completely where you’re coming from!
@BryanIra305 I have learned a lot on generation differences. If I was born in the late 80s, I'd love the first movie most, and chances if not by Lost World, by Jurassic Park 3 I'd be fairly disappointed. It is a matter of age of being exposed and nostalgia, let alone human preference.
So for me as a 2001 kid, I enjoyed the original 3, just entertained most by 2 and 3 as just real fun action rides. And I had enthusiastic hype of what a JP4 could've been like carrying that style in its own way for years.
But then after the JW Trilogy, first I was happy to have them, but now, I miss when a JP Sequel didn't lean on nostalgic rehashes of so many 1st movie elements, and made the dinos more imposing than push overs. That is one thing JP2 and 3 have over all 3 JW flicks in my opinion.
I wanted JP4 to be like the Sorna movies, in that sure some elements of previous movies carry over, but it was its own movie then milking so much we've seen before.

It was never implied that Grant did not remember what a T-Rex sounded like; he still knows what they sound like, he just didn't know what a Spinosaurus sounded like because; 1. there was no Spinosaurus on Isla Nublar and 2. he have never been on Isla Sorna before JP III.
Grant’s response to the roar is “I don’t think so,” the implication being that he’s not quite sure and doesn’t quite remember if this is a sound a tyrannosaur would make. It’s a nitpick but it just always went down a little sour for me.
@@BryanIra305; I'd give it a re-watch if I were you, he says "It sounds bigger" after he says "I don't think so", you see the dialogue was technically more about the Spinosaurus than the T-Rex, we only get the implacable confirmation later on after Grant finds the Spinosaurus tooth.
I still feel like, to remove ambiguity and better hint at Grant’s bad memories of the park, that it’s made crystal clear that Grant remembers precisely what a Rex sounds like. That’s why I’d have written it as “No. Sounds bigger” instead. Now we remove uncertainty and it lends a little weight to the revelation later on that Grant doesn’t much like dinosaurs anymore.
I would have liked to see them find evidence of Dr. Wu and InGen returning to Isla Sorna. They could've seen log dates or files explaining the illegally cloned Spinosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Ankylosaurus, and Corythosaurus.

The Lost World was a perfect movie and a perfect sequel to conclude the saga of Jurassic Park! This rewritten JP3 is better than the released JP3 though.

I completely agree with this statement, well kinda, just add in some deleted tlw scenes and the og ending with some changes to fit in with the San Diego sequence and we got a perfect sequel

Grant's "Talking Velociraptor" dream was put in there as comic relief to give us a few chuckles; it is unsettling because its funny, it is funny because it is unsettling 😂LOL.
I like this version way more. I especially love the idea of the baby rex from lost world returning as an adult. It's a nice Easter egg to lost world. I also like your version of the t-rex vs spinosaurus fight. It's longer, more drawn out and the rex seemed to be dominant so it's awesome. I really wish this was the actual version. It would have been masterpiece. I agree with your view on jp3 in every way possible. I'm feeling way too nostalgic right now I think I'm gonna cry the entire Atlantic ocean. People would not be angry at the film if this was the version we got. And people wouldn't be attacking rex fans for being toxic because they weren't forced to like a new dinosaur more than T-Rex in the first place. Nothing wrong with a new dinosaur I love that idea all too well. But it's just people constantly bashing rex fans in favor of the killers is just tiring. I get their feelings too but com on man. My main problem is films just treating the t-rex like a joke. That's what I want to see change. Your version didn't have that problem so it's fantastic. Let's just treat this as the canon version, shall we?
Aww man I appreciate this comment so much! It’s always nice when my vision aligns with someone else’s, for sure! Although I do love talking about differences in concepts and ideas, justifying my stances and choices and finding new points to consider, it’s such a great change of pace to just be able to agree with someone with similar sentiments lol! There is a lot of “toxicity” with regard to the Rex/spino but as Dominion proves, you can establish the power of one of the dinosaurs without having to straight up murder the other. And leaving the fight ambiguous allows the audience to fill in the blanks for themselves, although I myself like the idea that the spinosaurus retreats to its territory in defeat but with its life. Thanks again for this comment, it really made my day!
I think the original movie is underrated in my opinion it just needed to change three scenes the first with the boat crash show what actually killed the men (new creature plesiosaurus would of been cool) so we can see abit of action right away like in the first movie, also put back in the original reason the spino was going after the humans (Cooper shot it's juvenile that's why he was injured in the first place), & have the spino attack one last time but the big raptor pack either defeats it reversing the ending fight from the first movie or the military just chops it with there arsenal
I think the reason they deleted the Cooper kills the spino juvenile subplot was because it was too similar to the raptor’s subplot: they both involved the parent(s) chasing down the humans for the sake of their offspring. It mirrored the Kirbys’ motivations for going to the island in the first place, but I think it was just too heavy-handed and repetitive for the filmmakers to justify, so they cut it. I personally think they should have cut the raptor subplot instead since the raptors don’t need additional reasons to be human stalkers, but the spinosaurus’ actions seem largely silly because they remove its original motivation leaving just an animal that wishes to expend all its energy on chasing down these humans for-what, exactly? It killed two guys right off the bat and then a t-rex. It’s got food for weeks, if not months. So I’m definitely with you on that.

I found it too far fetched to have raptors go after the humans FOR just the 2(!!) eggs. Look at their nests... they have tons of eggs... they are smart... but they can't count. I was also a bit disappointed that the nests designs are so on the nose. A lot of birds make very big intricate designed nests and I would love to have seen this for the raptors nests too.
The openingscene should have had a dinosaur in it and a more scary vibe. Ben & Eric should have crashed into the tree and Ben gets stuck. He tells Eric to flee when some raptors pop up. Ben gets tangled in the sail's ropes when he is climbing up and tries to escape the raptors. Then he accidentally slips and hangs himself while we see Eric who keeps running into the jungle.
Keeping the motorcycle/quad-bike chase and the Ankylosaur vs Raptor scenes including the Pteranodon subplot would be a improvement
This is a way better narrative of JP3. The only thing I'm on the fence about is the last dino battle scene. If we go with this version, the one from Jurassic world with Rexy, Blue, and the indominus rex (plus mosasaur) would lose its novelty (by that I mean the reviving power JW brought to the franchise) and would just be a cop out for a sequel. I wish you do another one for JW with this version's continuity in mind. Great video!
Thank you for this comment! I will say that when trying to deal with these rewrites I did not consider at all the future of the franchise or their continuity. I just imagined I was a writer on the film back in 1999/2000 and they asked me to improve their version of the movie. The only thing I did take into account was what my ideas for a JP3 story based on my TLW: Redux may include so that I didn’t tread familiar ground every time. There’s a lot of potential retelling in the franchise and I’m glad some of my concepts are resonating!
It might have been an improvement, but it all feels like it fits in the runtime of JP3. I think the movie could have been better if it was 45 minutes to 1 hour longer. More story, survival, exploration, scavenging, and maybe the passing of another day. Maybe an additional subplot that's left open ended so the new trilogy could tie in more smoothly.
Thank you! I think it only feels that way because I couldn’t do much dialogue or scene direction or specifics (unless it dealt with the overall plot). My Lost World video was MUCH less detailed but the script I’m writing for it is about to enter the third act and I’m on page 121 (for reference, one page is generally equivalent to one minute of screen time). Which means my TLW script is over two hours in length and still going strong lol.

It’s not a bad idea but I think it’s too close to the motives of the raptors, which are also tied to parenthood, and again chips away at what separates the raptors from the other dinosaurs. That’s why I kept the spinosaurus a simple animal with aggressive territorial tendencies-to allow the comparative intelligence of the raptors to shine.
@@BryanIra305 ur right. I've thought about it that way as well. But there's one thing that bothered when i thought that way. Apexs like t rex and spino are highly territorial. And it doesn't just leave it's territory like that to hunt down a bunch of small humans . Unless it has some serious rage towards them. In the movie , not only did it leave it's territory, it went into another apex , T rex's territory and killed one. So if cooper had killed one of it's babies, it would make more sense for it to follow the humans to such long distance without giving up.
It is a compelling concept, which is why I really liked how it was used in the Lost World. The Spino in my story believed the barge was the primary threat to its territory. When it found the humans on the beach, it pursued because it’s a predator.

I do appreciate making the Rex / Spino fight the main-event match it deserved to be, instead of the insultingly short 20-second throwaway squash match that we got.
It is the single most disappointing sequence in the movie, hands down. I don’t like the outcome they went with but there’s no doubt it still could have been a great sequence if they’d made it longer.
How was the Spinosaurus in the process of the creation when the main lab facilities were already destroyed by the hurricane in JP 1? Because it was completely nonexistent in LWJP, even the Ceratosaurs was a no show in the second film too. Which side of Isla Sorna was being based in LWJP and which side of Isla Sorna was being landed in JPIII?
Here's my take on Jurassic Park 3: Alan and Ellie are a married couple, but Ellie keeps her last name, Sattler, however. The Spinosaurus's arrival remains the same as it was, except there are 2 Spinosaurus instead of 1. The female dies after being hit by the plane, causing her mate to track down the group, seeking vengeance. Here's a little fun fact: There was supposed to be an ending where Alan found the Dinosoar boat from the opening and suggested that the culprits were none other than the Pteranodons. Then, the Pteranodons would pop out from the trees and attack the helicopters, so I'm gonna keep it. Oh yeah, about the T-Rex vs Spino fight: I would have the battle take place in the river where Paul uses the T-Rex piss to lure an unexpecting Bull T-Rex (This is the same one from the original JP3.) The battle is much longer than the one in the film. Grant would then shoot the flare gun just like he did in the original film, causing both of the dinosaurs to immediately retreat.
It’s perfect just the way it is and i wouldn’t have it any other way

Really good re-write, man, I guess my only gripe would have to be Udesky's death. Unless I'm incorrectly picturing how the clash between the rex, and spino goes down, I feel like both animals at that point would be far too focused on each other to be concerned with the humans' whereabouts, much like in the actual movie. I could see Udesky dying as collateral damage via falling, and being trampled/crushed in some way, or getting smacked with one of their tails, which would also likely be an instant death. But the rex taking the opportunity to snatch him up while in the middle of a fight is asking me to suspend my disbelief just a little too much.
Other than that, I thought you did great. JP3 released when I was ten years old, and I was so hyped, and was honestly very disappointed. I loved the first two films, and really wanted to love the third, but every time I watch it, it always leaves so much to be desired. I could only convince myself I loved it for so long. It's a sad thing to see the state this franchise has tanked to.

While I appreciate that some enjoy the colors of the animals in JP3, in the end it is a subjective topic. Any time I express that I don’t like something, I’m expressing an opinion, not a solid fact. And yes, I do happen to like the tiger striping on the TLW male raptors, probably because that’s how they’re described in Crichton’s novels. I will say that because they are never seen in daytime during the film’s runtime, it’s hard to even distinguish that they have bright tiger stripes anyway. Certainly they don’t appear as garish and visually loud as the JP3 dinosaurs.

To me they look ugly because the lack of diversity of colors, they are all just dark blue, grey, dark tan, and have crocodile spikes and teeth they honestly look more out of place than jp3 dinosaurs
That’s actually a really great question, because it plays into how I like to think of this evolution in the dinosaur colors. Again, I prefer the blander colors on the dinosaurs because that’s how large animals in today’s world look. Elephants, rhinos, crocodiles, lions, all have pretty boring color schemes. However, we also have tigers, giraffes, birds of every hue and shade. It’s hard to even guess. With Jurassic Park 3, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I grew up with what I believed were more realistic coloring in Jurassic Park and Lost World, and when 2001 rolled around with all those bright, gaudy tones, it was hard for me to accept. On the other hand, my expectations for the Jurassic World franchise were so low that their palette choices did not offend me nearly as much. I’ll go on the record right now and say I don’t care for the raptor colors in Jurassic World. I never did but they didn’t make me want to gouge my eyes out either. And the way I’ve been able to handle it canonically is based on a passage from the JP novel, in which Henry Wu tries to convince Hammond to let him genetically modify the DNA of the animals to make them more docile and make them look more appealing. I think that the Wu of the movies was always doing that, trying to make the dinosaurs more visually stunning. I think that accounts for the Jurassic Park 3 dinosaurs, and why some of the dinosaurs from Jurassic World are more colorful too. I accept it as canonicity even if I’m not a fan of bright colors.

I thought jurassic park 3 was one of the best jurassic park movies simply because when I saw it in theaters I was like 10 years old but it scared the hell out of me when the spino got Cooper and messed up the plane , it terrified me. and I still love this movie to this day. especially the raptors.
I just figured the female raptor was a albino, and it was a different tribe of pack raptors from the lost world raptors.
Not to get too technical but albinism would require that all coloration be replaced with pale white, including any striations. It would also make the animals eyes red. It could be leucistic, but again it’s pigmentation would be completely white in that case. I do assume that the pack is a different tribe from Lost World though.

Thanks so much! Lost World’s a really divisive topic among us, and I knew going in that I was treading on some toes. But I’m glad you enjoyed this one!
Personally some things i would add is a more extensive scene with the Ceratosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Apatosaurus Corythosaurus, Parasaurolophus representing a scene that resembles a moment from Camp Cretaceous Season 2 with the watering hole that gives a slight sense of peace in this movie that has been chaotic for almost the entirety of its runtime.
And definitely include the camouflaging, Chameleon-like Carnotaurus from TLW Crichton novel making an appearance and perhaps killing off one of the mercenaries when ambushing the group. at the end of the scene this could end in the Carnotaurus being killed and eaten by the Juvenile Rex (for funsies) leading to the escape of the others.
The Ceratosaurs get a whole big stalking scene, I just shortened it for the sake of brevity since it would just end in all the characters escaping intact. In my head it’s a super tense situation. As for the moments of peace, I actually have quite a few in that story, and would have included many of the creatures you name!

I have been interested in the discussion of the Raptors and their veracity in the saga's lore. My way of understanding the representation in Jurasic Park 3 is that in the same way in which they mutated to change sex, the process has developed to such a point that the Raptors in the wild have developed a clear sexual dimorphism, more pronounced than in previous films and the incorporation of "featherage" is a result of this (and the desire to incorporate the "new" discoveries of the field). I also think that helps them develop a more... tribal look.
honestly, I like this rewrite, though as the last one, I do have some ideas of my own.
1. You argue about how Tim and Lex are so loosely used in TLW while you keep Ellie out of any involvement in the plot, resulting in an ending near identical to the previous movie. Looking at it retrospectively the only likely reason why Ellie and Grant were split is because they wanted a plausible reason for Ellie's involvement in the plot by being involved with a man who could theoretically get them off the island. and in this rewrite, you really didn't explain the whole Grant not having kids thing despite making such a big deal of it.
2. the changing of the Jp3 raptors to the TLW for continuity is fine (mostly) but you didn't explain where the spino or new pteranodons came from. Secondly, the argument you make against them kinda falls flat when you have to realize that the TLW tiger raptors and their female counterparts are not the same ones from the first movie. (See Dino Style Guide by Marco Makes for comparison) If all three raptors in the first movie were female, then one would have turned male, bred, and then turned back into a female for essentially no reason.
3. I like the idea of Amanda being more of a villain. The idea, of her not necessarily wanting harm to come to her son yet willing to let him go on what was essentially a coverup for her company feels like a great twist villain, almost reminding me of Hammond from the novel. It may also hint at the reason for the Kirby's divorce in the first place.
Thank you so much for this comment because you actually hit on some things I didn’t get into that I kind of wanted to in the video but felt maybe were superfluous.
1. As I kind of mentioned already, I really wanted to honor the story the finished film was trying to tell, which meant that coming up with a good reason to drag Ellie and/or Tim and/or Lex to the island would be a convoluted and ultimately unnecessary exercise in mental gymnastics. I even considered replacing Billy with Tim but in doing the math realized that in 2001 Tim was still much too young to be Grant’s student or realistically be Grant’s second hand for this trip. I therefore decided to make Billy more obviously a spiritual stand-in for Tim for Grant to work through his emotional journey. Now that obviously also meant that I’d have to figure a way to keep both Ellie and any potential children they’d had out of the proceedings. But I didn’t want to dilute Grant’s character arc over Tim’s own journey of discovery by introducing new children characters who would more conceivably “replace” Grant’s expectations and temper his disappointment in Tim’s decision. Additionally, you’ve actually hit on a topic I was more eager to explore in an alternate JP3 story taking place in my Redux universe, and I didn’t wanna retread too much familiar ground.
2. The only reason the Spinosaurus’ existence is in anyway a mystery to the characters is because Jurassic Park 3 says it’s a mystery. To that point in the franchise, ankylosaurs hadn’t been mentioned either. It’s a simple thing to just kind of gloss over that aspect and never directly deal with InGen’s shady practices. I mean, we know for a fact they had Metriacanthosaurs but in six movies we’ve never seen them. It can be assumed that the reverse is true and that there are simply dinosaurs they created which hadn’t been mentioned or hinted at to that point in the franchise. The audience is willing to accept that. As for the new pteranodons, I never really get into what the pterandons in my version look like. I do mention I liked the newer designs just fine, but I do prefer the design on the TLW one and I’d have probably, had I been in charge, kept that one both for the sake of continuity and personal taste. How that one got out in TLW? I don’t have an answer and neither do the filmmakers apparently lol. Now for the raptors, none of the three primary raptors in Jurassic Park, by the continuity and canon of lore, are male. They are all female. According to Muldoon, there were eight originally bred and the Big One had killed all but two others. According to the lore, they used to be out in the park but had to be moved to the pen because they kept escaping. That’s why the eggs are out in the park and not in the pen. The raptors are matriarchal, a point Jurassic Park 3 and Jurassic World makes clear. So the Big One must by necessity be female since she’s in charge. It can be presumed therefore that following the laying of the eggs, the Big One was introduced into the group from Isla Nublar, murdered five of the others, including any raptors that had changed gender, prompting the park to move them to the pen. The nest was left behind unprotected and undiscovered.
3. Thanks! I felt JP3 lacked a good central human villain but wanted to buck the trend that all the bad guys just get their just dessert rather than be provided some sort of redemption arc.
Simple. Make the dinosaurs act like ANIMALS.

The Pteranodons attack the boat in the beginning.. we see pteranodons flying free at the end of The Lost World, so it is a valid theory. It also makes more sense that flying dinosaurs can catch a motorboat vs a swimming spino.

Also. Jurassic Park III takes place on a different larger fictional Costa Rican Island. Isla Sorna. While the original Jurassic Park island is Isla Nublar. So the group wouldn't find Dr. Henry Wus old office from the first movie there. And that also explains why some of the Jurassic Park III dinosaurs look different too.
I believe it is implied if not outright confirmed in the Lost World novel that Wu had an office on Sorna, since that was where the major work was happening anyway. I imagine he went back and forth between Nublar and Sorna quite a bit.

Once I’m done with this series and JP3 Redux, I’ll be looking to maybe continue the series in some other form, such as looking at unmade ideas from the franchise, Camp Cretaceous and maybe Evolution of Claire!

Instead of the spino being territorial i would do like the concept, when Copper would get attacked by a baby spino, Copper kill the baby wich the mother/father witness leading into a revenge quest agains the main crew.
There’s another comment around here where I address that a little! But essentially it might be a little too heavy-handed to have all major dinosaur threats to the characters be motivated by their parental instincts.

I got to admit that the hunting dynamics between the T-Rex and Spinosaurus got sort of screwed over in JPIII
Maybe through the generations the Raptors are becoming more bird like as their pure DNA strengthens?
I have actually considered this. InGen is said to have manipulated the DNA to accelerate the growth of their animals so it would make sense that a new generation of raptors has come to replace the ones we see in Lost World.
The theory, unfortunately, has a few holes. Accelerated growth would likely have the opposite effect on the raptors. Rather than becoming purer, the compounding of their manipulated DNA would serve to degrade the purity of it further. They seem like successful hunters so there’s no reason why InGen’s invented genes would die out in favor of a more natural selection. Additionally, due to the nature of the accelerated growth-which again would have to happen for a fully grown pack of raptors to have replaced the pack seen in Lost World-the dinosaurs would have less time to rear their young and establish how raptor society is supposed to function. And yet in JP3 the raptors we see are highly coordinated and disciplined, which is slightly different from their portrayals in the previous films, where killing and snapping at each other is not uncommon. So this by necessity must be a second tribe. I won’t get into the colors or designs either because a journey to purity would also probably not include white coloring or maintaining the size of their previous generation.

In the aftermath of that movie, I had A LOT of notes. Lots of dropped balls in the finale of the trilogy. On the basis of the Legacy characters, it’s the JW I’m most likely to watch.

To the depths of my soul, I will never understand why they killed the Giga. It wasn’t necessary or cathartic or even thematically relevant. The giga did nothing to deserve it!
As for the raptors, you’re not wrong and it’s a really great point you’re making that I had not really considered. The raptors were underutilized in TLW but their role in the first two films was just to be killers. A motive beyond being killers was a welcome change to the narrative, which is why I kept that subplot almost fully intact (considering it also mirrors the Kirbys’ tenacity in saving their son). I can also see how the designs are inspired by bird plumage, and that makes sense to me on a base level. However, I simply cannot abide the change, no matter how I slice it 😅 I much more liked the coloration of the JW raptors even if I wasn’t thrilled with the tweaks to their overall shape.

My only point of contention is the initial spino intro. I wouldnt even show it during the take-off scene. Perhaps seeing trees getting knocked down as the plane flies above. Kinda a Jaws-like reveal. I hate how the original movie introduced it so early & killed off 2 mercenaries. We literally loset 20 minutes of character building with that decision.

Thank you very much! I have to admit, it’s pretty tough getting across a vision with what amounts to a synopsis of each scene, but you actually kind of nailed how the spino would be introduced. A lot of seeing it through the glass of the plane as the panes jitter, a lot of motion to blur our view of it, chaotic viewpoints from the character perspective. In point of fact, the first time we would clearly see the spinosaurus would probably be on the beach at the climax of the film. Its introductory scene would consist of establishing glimpses, the river attack would be partially obscured by the rain and darkness and water, and it wouldn’t be until the broad daylight flight down the beach that we would see it in its full glory.
37:00 actauly in tlw the male and female tiger stripe raptors have slightly different appearances so this wouldnt work

Dominion is literally what prompted me to begin considering this topic. If it had been done well, I might not be doing these videos at all! But I felt the best way to start would be at the beginning.

Jurassic Park actually has extremely good world building compared to other movie franchises, I think the biggest faults with the sequels mostly just relates to the characters.

I might actually do the whole of Camp Cretaceous. I love the concept and the first few seasons are pretty good but I feel like there were a lot of things they could have done to really make CC more than a footnote in the saga.
No idea how you have so few subscribers, this video was incredible. Really loved how you still kept all the main characters, and the same basic plot as the original, but were able to make it flow so much smoother and with so much more action and background. I'd really love it if you could rewrite Dominion
