Is possible to use the curry mix instead of the japanese curry mix for that brand, because I can't find a mild one and my mom can't eat spicy stuff. Im looking on Amazon by the way.
My husband adores that brand of Japanese curry. He makes a giant pot of it with ground beef and vegetables and eats it every day for a week straight when I'm traveling 😂
I love those japanese curry cubes too, though I make mine with stewed pork and vegetables. It's kind of amazing how golden curry has a very international reach.
Whoa! I made this (minus a few onions) and it came out amazing!! My toddler even liked it! Thank you for helping me feed my family with great flavor and hearty meal!
@@AaronandClaire yes i need that too buddy i am a cook and learn to cook literally everythings. So i will love to see and learn how to make that kind of curry from scratch. Love your video .
Me too, and I did it already. Of course it will cost "a ton" if you buy all spices in the commercial restaurant size ... but it is not much more difficult and I get to have a say what else besides the spices goes into my food.
Wow this looks delicious! Claire's explanation of the dish makes me want to make this right away :D Thank you for sharing, already looking forward to the next video!
This is absolutely amazingly delish! I made it a couple nights ago and there was a ton of curry sauce left over which I froze for later use. Highly recommend!
this might be one of the most beautiful plates you have posted so far, Aaron! I love katsu curry, but cannot find ready-made katsu sauce. I will have to try this recipe, it looks amazing!
It took me about 2 hours, but I did it and OMG so worth it! I've never tried Japanese curry before so this was a leap of flavor faith. I loved it! My onions took closer to an hour to carmelize, but it was worth it!
I remember the first time I ever heard of Japanese curry, it was a video of a Japanese chef many years ago who explained that he blended his curry this same way because it makes it more healthful. He said that it helps your body absorb all of those veggies very easily
Congrats on getting sponsored. I love chicken katsu curry, I make it as often I can. Sometimes I cut corners when I don't have too much time I buy chicken tenders from chick fil a and I don't puree the veggies into the curry, my kids love it. I can't wait til I get my sakuraco box. Thanks for sharing your version of the curry.
Aaron: you will not use these other spices again😮💨 Me: an Indian who uses garam masala regularly🥲 I'll still use the the premade curry powder because it looks easier tho😛 Note for anyone buying Indian spices: buy spices like tumeric etc in Indian/nepali/pakistani stores. Spices are much cheaper!
I use that same multi day process when I make tonkatsu! First day I cook the pork cutlets, second day I make curry to put on top, third day I make katsudon with whatever is left.
You're one of the few channels that if I follow the recipe, it not only tastes good, but also looks exactly like you made it. I love this curry! Tastes great, but also looks great. Like a restaurant one. I had to make my own curry mix though, but don't worry about it, I found the recipe ;)
You make this look so easy, but I don't have that kind of time! At least here in Hawaii, Katsu Curry is easy to find on plate lunch. I have mine with curry gravy over everything (chicken, rice and the macaroni salad). But I'm sure it's never going to be as delicious as yours! (I'm proud of you guys getting a sponsor! We all want you and Claire to be a success!)
I did't expect this dish to be sooo good!!!! The downside though is you can't have it without rice and you would want to add more!!! That's how delicious this dish is!!! Restaurant level at its finest!!!👌👌👌
Watched a different channel do a youtube short of this the other day, then youtube gave me troves of it. So I came back and used this recipe. Dinner for 4, lunch for a week, and enough curry sauce for next time! Love the channel keep it up!
The best curry recipe hands down. added chili peppers when i was sautéing the onions and it delivered on the spice since i couldn't get my hands on that spicy golden curry. 🤤
That's so true!!! 🤣🤣🤣 To Claire, chicken cutlet is sort of like a fancier version of fried egg because she always eats the curry with a fried egg if there's no chicken cutlets! 🤣🍳
i woke up today with the need to make katsu kare for lunch, when I open my youtube your recipe it´s on top!! OMG freaking delicious!! Made it and couldn´t belive. Thank you!!! Add some chopped veggies because i cant eat kare without it.
My mother-in-law taught me to make curry with Golden Curry. Close to what Aaron just did, except we start with pork stew meat and keep the veg chunky, it is total comfort food.
Aaron, as usual, when it comes to your recipes, you are sooo right. We made this tonight and it was sooo good. Once again, Aaron and Claire, you've brought yummy food to our attention. My girlfriend and I, along with our appetites; thank you.
My first time I've had curry chicken, like this, was in Hawaii in a strip center behind, at the time, the Alana Hotel. That was the best dish I'd had in awhile. It sent me to the restroom every time but that didn't stop me. I think that place is still there. I must make this recipe.
Tried this today. This was a really good curry. Before blending, it was already a pretty nice flavor. I was completely surprised how good it ended up being. Rich, deep flavor, but fairly easy to assemble. Going in my recipe rotations for sure.
Well Aaron I made this dish, I didn't use any variation, it was extremely delicious specially when I blended it in the pot. I used thin Pork Loin. Great work. Cheers Nat from Aus 👍
I bought the Oriental curry powder after seeing a recipe that had you do everything from scratch. I’ve never made the full curry, but I do use the curry powder as a spice when making sautéed chicken cutlets. You make the curry look doable. That is a huge amount, however! How many servings of chicken katsu is that for?
@Kari Wilson Yes, it's freezer friendly and it keeps really well. Just add a splash of water when reheating. And, "yes", you can also try it with pork cutlet and that's gonna be delicious, too! We have a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) video that you might wanna check out. Hope you enjoy it~! 😊🙌 th-cam.com/video/NyH16NnXAoQ/w-d-xo.html
I've been making this version of Katsu Curry for months now and I love it! I've been using the S&B Curry (Vermont Curry also works just as well so buy what's on sale) and I "don't worry about it" because with this recipe I feel it's probably more authentic that way. I use chicken thighs because they're more juicy and flavorful, and they don't really need to be pounded flat, although they don't have such a beautiful appearance. I also add some extra chunks of potato and carrots that have been boiled and then quickly seared which is an extra step but I think it makes a difference. The final bit is that beautiful bit of pickled ginger which makes a huge difference as it adds balance ~ don't skip it! It's hard to say if this is my favorite recipe from Aaron as I love everything Korean with Gochujang and Gochugaru but I really love this one as well. 😀
Time to get an immersion blender. I love making katsu curry and I never thought to blend the curry. Great tip. Claire’s comments were awesome. Great job A&C 🙏
Wow! I love your videos. I can't believe the size of the carrots you have. I have never seen carrots that big in my life. Here in the US it would take about 5 carrots to equal one of yours.
This looks delicious, I can't wait to try. Congratulations on the sponsor you guys! I've been subbed since the 1st ramen video and I love how you continue to grow your community! You two never disappoint.
I LOVE KATSU! Thank you so much for this recipe. I am glad that you are also promoting the use of premade curry. I always use those wonderful cubes when making my curry. Like you said, I don't use the spices that much for other purposes. Congrats on the sponsor buddy. What a great idea, a subscription box. So cool! Happy Cooking, UB
A box of Golden Curry is being delivered in two days, and I already have chicken, potatoes, carrots and onions already in the house. I'm eager to compare Japanese curry to the Indian curry spice mix I've known for years.
