The cry of Bach’s heart as he calls out for his redeemer to come! A beautifully expressed interpretation of this Lutheran classic!
This piece is so deeply metaphysical and meditative, rising from the depths and developing its polyphonic fabric thus bringing light to us, but not in an explosive way one might do if being in Bach's place: the greatness of Johann Sebastian comes exactly from his form of explaining the world and human existance in it by perfect and precise relations of tones, melodies, proportions of parts and control in exposure of all musical elements. A performer who is aware of this has no problem with mediation of Bach's music to the audience. Mrs Berrut is certainly among such chosen ones.
An other beautiful interpretation from Beatrice Berrut! The whole is really remarquable: music, piano, recording and video. The low/deep notes are paving a foundation in motion, which enshroud a poignant masterpiece.

The piano sounds a bit harsh. I doubt it is the bösendorferf. Probably just poor recording. The playing is beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed the playing! The piano had been used for a few days without being reharmonized and it was getting a bit shrill - maybe this is what has been disturbing you.
Großartig und wunderschön gespielt. Unaufgeregt aber komplett unterschiedlich zur Interpretation von Horowitz, der die einzelnen Stimmen noch expliziter herausholt. Aber diese Version hat etwas besonderes …
