Huge Toyota fan. The wife has a 22 4runner so I wanted too get a Tundra to be a toyota family until I stumbled upon a ZR2 looking at Tundras & instantly fell in love. Both are beautiful trucks but the ZR2 6.2L and it's interior won me over.
The 6.2 Chevy ZR-2 is far more desirable in my opinion, especially with a bigger block V-8 motor, vs a 6 cylinder turbo. Just a more rugged styling inside & out with the Silverado.
@michaelbrill6609 The interiors of Toyota have cheap hard plastics. Mechanically they may last longer but look what you are driving. I think the new Tundras are hideous, the GM trucks look infinitely better inside & out. I own a new 80K Ram Limited & it's far better than the Chevy & the Toyota. My last Hemi Ram lasted me 13 years & never once broke down, making it the most reliable vehicle out of the 92 cars & trucks I've owned.
@@michaelbrill6609based on what? That new turbocharged engine in the Tundra has had terrible reliability in everything Toyota puts it in, the transmission has had quite a few complaints and reports of replacement under warranty, and it was Toyota that lost a $3.6 billion dollar lawsuit for frames that were rotting out prematurely. There is nothing about the 3rd gen that suggests it's going to last longer and Toyota doesn't build trucks today that are as good as they were 20 years ago.
I’m going Chevy ZR2 🇺🇸 every time over giving market share to the Japanese. 🇯🇵 They can assemble here & that’s great, but now that quality is pretty well aligned among most major brands; I see the Chevy/GMC as more capable & far better aesthetically as well.
Love the ZR2 1500 but I’d have to write a bigger check for the bison version of it. The tundra… styling wise it turned me off then… Toyota using the speakers to pipe in a V8 rumble… GTFOH Toyota! Huge turnoff.. no thanks
Given the volume of recalls and issues with the motor imploding you may want to rethink that. Toyota quality isn’t what it once was, huge recall currently for the motor still providing power to the wheels when the transmission is in neutral.
I have a 24 tundra, coming from a Raptor. And I can tell you definitively the Tundra is worse in every possible way including build quality, and recalls.
Hahahahaha your mechanic will be replacing your Tundra's short block judging by the number of blown engines being rebuilt by dealers. Some guys have had their engine replaced twice under warranty. Terrible bottom end design for a twin turbo V6. Toyota knew those crank bearings were going to be holding on for dear life judging by the SAE paper Toyota wrote on the engine.
A friend told me the modern GM 6.2s have two manufacturers for the rod bearings, and one of those manufacturers make defective bearings so they wear out prematurely. and he told me that they’ve had two 2024 trucks in for a new engine so far this year, as a GM fan I am disappointed they don’t drop those defective bearings
The Tundra has had rod bearing failures left and right for the last three model years. Coping fanboys insisted it was a "bad batch" of bearings but there are 2024 Tundras with blown engines. Some more than one replacement engines as the 2nd one blew up too. That's especially bad considering GM sells more than six trucks for every Tundra sold.
There is a TSB issued for oversized lifter bores, which I assume is related to this problem. They definitely jumped on it much quicker than Toyota did on its "machining debris" which it really is NOT.
Man. I want to love the Chevy. I guess the Chevy with a diesel is a good contender for what you will need. The Toyota is sweet though. But the Power Wagon is also a beast. Let your wife choose. hehe 😁
LOL meanwhile that engine in the Tundra had been eating crank bearings like a Ram EcoDiesel for the last three model years. Some guys are on their THIRD V35A. A 2024 Tundra had crank bearing failure by 7k miles.
@@ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806. I have a pulsar lt installed and ohh wow super punchy torque and faster 0 to 60. Lol. It'sba sports truck now, have you tried it.
I don't see any aspect of the Tundra that looks better built than the ZR2. Particularly the engine since the Tundra has had a high rate of catastrophic engine failures and Toyota doesn't have good reputation for frame longevity (my 2011 Tundra was constant work to fend off rust perforations).
That ZR2 has a gorgeous interior.

Same I picked up a zr2 bison in my area cheaper than tundra trd pro at the time
Just buy what you like and dont worry about it.

More rugged style but damn sure won't last as long as the Toyota. Lol

Hi Ben, i love your reviews. Can you please start mentioning the ground clearance, tire size in inches, and window sticker when doing a new vehicle.
"Look at this center console" Ben then proceeds to glance towards Narnia with the Go-pro. 😁
Nice comparison Ben!
Both overpriced by about 10k. Want them both.
I’ll take Chevy ZR2 any day with 3.0 duramax
Midsize with a V8 is cool. If the Tacoma had a V8, I know they wouldn't even sell the Tundra
Love the ZR2 1500 but I’d have to write a bigger check for the bison version of it. The tundra… styling wise it turned me off then… Toyota using the speakers to pipe in a V8 rumble… GTFOH Toyota! Huge turnoff.. no thanks
This is the better comparison than zr2 vs raptor. It just makes sense.
I don't like seeing my mechanic more than 7 times a year. I pick the Tundra.

Ben is always working!!!🤙 now the real question Ben which one will hold up for 10+ plus years?
You see thousands of old chevys on the road.
And unless your an old dude you'll get rid of it before 10 years anyway.
why is he trying to cover for the chevy??

Both are good trucks. 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
The Tundra has a better look IMO, but the ZR2 has more utility.
Tundra may last longer, but it isn't half the truck the Chevy is.
@@DP-jaja
Someone got their butt hurt!!!
lol
Judging by the huge volume of engine failures in the 22-2024 Tundra, it's beyond foolish to assume this generation of Tundra will last longer.
Man. I want to love the Chevy. I guess the Chevy with a diesel is a good contender for what you will need. The Toyota is sweet though. But the Power Wagon is also a beast. Let your wife choose. hehe 😁
The tundra is missing front tow hooks. 🙃
Chevy Interior looks way better
Not even close…ZR2!
Both trucks are nice. I take Chevrolet zr2 over the Toyota
I’ll take the Tundra.
That 6.2L v8 is coming out with problems once it hits 8k. Look it up, both on the Silverado and the Sierra
There are lifter issues but not all trucks have that I'm going on 40k no problems.

Seems like hes trying so hard not to like the tundra haha
The Toyota Tundra TRD pro wins Can't trust GM build quality anymore always going to be Toyota
New Tundra engine will not last as long as a Chevrolet 6.2.
Man the Chevy seems more luxurious but the Toyota will last longer. This is a tough one.
If you option the Chevy with the 3.0 Duramax it would be more reliable but probably not with the V8
Don't believe the hype. The Toyota will not last longer.
That 3.0 Duramax will not last longer lol those things are always at the shop in my local dealer. And those v6 Toyotas aren’t any better.
@erinh9660 if people keep saying it, does it make it true? No, no it does not.
3.0 duramax will outlast any hybrid system. Plus you can get a front locker with the Chevy
U cant trust the GM build quality and u can’t expect a twin turbo V6 to last like a traditional V8. It’s a wash….
True but for off roading the zr2 have to take just better equipped
He just got done saying how much better the build quality of the chevy interior is to the Tacoma. Did you not watch the video?
I don't see any aspect of the Tundra that looks better built than the ZR2. Particularly the engine since the Tundra has had a high rate of catastrophic engine failures and Toyota doesn't have good reputation for frame longevity (my 2011 Tundra was constant work to fend off rust perforations).
bro line up that beard, you'd look like a different human lol
👍👍👍
Maybe the Titan is more worthy
Chevy would last longer if they got reed of the valve deactivation system on the gas engines
