This video is from "Insider magazine" headquartered in NYC. So there's an obvious bias. Although you really can find the most diverse and amazing food in NYC.
Without trying the place in LA you can't really say this is true. There are plenty of Cubans spread out across the country. It would just take one to be better. (This is ignoring the fact that there are MANY great chefs that make food from regions they aren't from).

As a Texan I'm shocked to hear people from the UK even know what chili is much less cooking at home. Chili with cornbread or Fritos and cheese is a wintertime staple here.
I’m an Arizonan- It’s definitely an American import but it’s gotten popular in the UK from my understanding Often they’ll call it by the full name “Chili con Carne” though
There’s nothing like fresh, hot bread right out of the oven. Rockland Bakery’s bagels, breads streusel and chocolate covered Mandelbrot/mandelbread are delicious. Levain Bakery’s chocolate chip walnut and oatmeal raisin cookies are the best I’ve ever had.
I used to go to the $1.50 pizza stand in midtown when he first opened. It was on $1 back then, lol. It is really good pizza and an amazing price. He drove a larger pizza place that had much larger storefront that was right up the block out of business. I always thought of NYC as the place where people from all over the world got together and said, "Guess what we figured out you can eat?" Junior's cheesecake is truly a little slice of heaven and a traditional choice amidst many trendier entries.
I'm eating my dinner right now. 1/2 burgers that I dry-rubbed then marinated in coffee stout then cooked over charcoal and hickory along with brioche buns and homemade mustard. I need to try the mac n cheese buns!
New York is a lot of things, some good and some bad. One of the very unique and truly good things about it is the insane cuisine. You will find some of the most authentic or some of the most unique foods you'd ever want...Chinese, Indian, Greek, Polish, Italian, Afrikaans, Mexican, French and every fusion you could imagine...it is in New York. Sometimes globalization is bad and sometimes it gifts unto you curry gyros.
Very NY heavy list. I can say there’s likely a list that size from everywhere. Being close to Chicago, I could go on for an hour about all the great food in the city
Do they still do the Taste of Chicago festival? Probably not with COVID though. I'm from Peoria and used to go up there every year for it, but haven't been in years.
I'm from Toronto and can do the same for my city lmao. Truth is the world has amazing food ultra regardless of where you are because one thing we all have in common is we like to eat.
@@TwistedSisler that's interesting, we have similar festivals in Toronto every year for popular food areas and also city wide ones like winterlicious but it's all been canceled cuz of the pandemic.
If you want to try a delicious sandwich, give the "Horseshoe" a try. It's a local dish here in central Illinois. You take Texas toast or burger bun, slap a burger patty (there are others you can make too) throw some fries (chips) then cover the whole thing in melted cheese sauce. I highly recommend trying it, may be a good topic for the "Try channel".
If your in Midtown Manhattan NYC and want a great slice of Pizza go to Supreme Pizza. It's right by MSG. The Garlic Chicken with White sauce is amazing.
On the pineapple thing... if you ever go to Hawaii, you have to try it from the Dole plantation there. Pineapple will never be looked at the same I'd wager.
Questioning how many places they visited. There are great restaurants outside of the big cities and not all are in New York. Best food I've ever had has come from New Orleans and if you want Cuban go to Miami. Texas has the best bbq!

It's not difficult to see why my country's citizens tend to be ... large. To be fair, with 330 million people, we still manage to have great sports leagues and Olympic champions.
Obesity in America is not much worse than any other western country to be honest, but yeah the US is definitely spoiled for choice on food. That in the entire world, half of these places are in NYC is pure rubbish and lazy. Insider is based in NYC, so they just asked their staff and then collected some recommendations from the Internet or from their vacations.
I knew this list was nonsense when it got to Skyline Chili. Skyline isn’t even remotely the best Cincy style chili in the city of Cincinnati. It’s fine, but there are at least 4-5 places making it way better just in Cincinnati and probably others throughout the area. I guess they felt they had to randomly pick some non NYC stuff. I understand NYC and LA are big foodie cities, but I think Chicago, Atlanta, Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Miami and plenty of other cities have food just as good. NYC people need to actually get out more.
Most bread based food tastes better in a NON humid environment. Florida has 100% humidity in the air for months at a time. Los Angeles air is dry and arid.
I’ve been to NYC only once and like any red-blooded man I love some good food to the point I planned out the spots I wanted to hit while there - only to get a stomach virus the first night in town and I had absolutely no appetite or desire for food the rest of my time there. I was and still am super bummed out about that... perfect example of a “first world problem” but I don’t care, I wanted some of that.
While this is very NY heavy, I feel like most people didn't bother reading the title. It says "42 Foods You Need to Eat in Your Lifetime." It says nothing about being the best in the world. Its obvious the creators are NY based and the fact that they think Skyline should be included on this list should let everyone know that this is a VERY subjective list. Skyline has always been garbage in my "subjective" opinion
