Dude holy shit am I back in high school?! I knew Amber was still in the music business, but I hadn't seen much since she left f(x) and I was so excited to see her as a guest here!! Definitely gonna dive into her new stuff and also hit my 10+ year old kpop playlists and hit that sweet sweet nostalgia. This was a great podcast, I loved hearing about Amber's life from kind of a "normal" lens as compared to the very produced and not as genuine interviews and such from back in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
I really liked the conversation about shady contracts and lawsuits. You hear so much about the "dark side of Kpop" but children blindly signing away their freedom is everywhere in the global entertainment industry, from movies to music to sports. We can only hope that the protection given to kids in certain countries can be expanded to every budding star. Loved the episode!

@@starrwinter industries will always be self interested , the real problem is how the law system works and how contracts are allowed to work , there honestly should be a review board that has the authority to cancel any contract for being inhumane and fine the issuer of the contract and is a separate entity from the Legal system ( we can argue it should holistically be part of it, but we all know how shit legal systems are when it comes to humanity over letter of law ) and mainly has authority on contracts in industries that target young adults or contracts for those new to the job landscape (i.e. under 30s etc )

I kinda relate when they talked about like over working and being mentally and physically tired - I’m a high school student and I’m constantly trying to study and meet the academic pressure from my parents, as well as doing my sport outside of school and in school so it’s always draining; I’m still trying to let myself rest sometimes and not be guilty about it
I love how they start talking about fighting each other and there’s cut mid way though, meaning either they talked about for too long or it got too violent and I love either one

While not a K-Pop fan, I actually did once see Amber in concert once. I actually bought the tickets to see her opening act, Meg and Dia, and was about to leave before her part, but I heard some of the music and then decided to stay and had a pretty good time overall. Also, her roommate makes some dope food and sometimes we see Amber on those streams. Kind of a weird small world we live in.

Great podcast, I also feel like the world is too loud now. Everyone got a voice and its tough reading through so many people saying the same shit or people saying the most idiotic stuff imaginable. Some people don't even watch the whole video that they comment on and make an opinion based off the title and thumbnail without actually understanding the message of a video.

Amber is exactly how I feel at times. I can get really energetic talking to people, but it's only because I go for weeks to months without talking to anyone, and need some kind of social interaction. Then I just quickly burn out and just want to stay away from everyone.
I saw the notification this morning when I was at work and couldn't control my happiness! f(x) was how I got introduced to kpop some many years ago so to see Amber here on the OTV podcast is such a great joy!

When I started streaming I thought down bad meant you were feeling down or bad, so when I was on a league losing streak I would tell people I was down bad from league….luckily I was corrected pretty quickly and never forgot since then
I had to move to a totally different country when I was eight years old,I didn't even know english at the time,the first year was tough ,but when I finally learned the language it became easier ,not just at school but also to talk to friends I had made.I lived in that country for three years. Plus I didn't have a phone or anything to talk to anyone from my home country ,also keep in mind this happened around 2009 to 2012.
how hard is it for non-english speakers to learn english? im very curious since i believe the easiest languge for native english speakers to learn is spanish becuase of the high amount of similarities between the two, *it was for me at least*, but for others whose langauge is in different script/writing and pronounciation i wonder. also what is your native language :)
