AOC visits Chile, Brazil & Colombia

Last month, Alexandria had the honor of leading the first all-Spanish speaking U.S. Congressional delegation to Latin America. She visited Brazil, Chile, and Colombia in a historic effort to both acknowledge the harmful history of U.S. interventionism and explore opportunities for a path of mutual respect and collaboration into the future.
Their delegation met with Presidents Boric and Petro, Vice President Francia Marquez, as well as various members of the Brazilian ministry after a fruitful conversation with President Lula in Washington earlier this year.
Alexandria was joined on the trip by Reps. Nydia Velazquez, Joaquin Castro, Maxwell Frost and Greg Casar.
Since their return, the delegation has made significant progress on the declassification of U.S. documents related to the 1973 Chilean coup; they are working to fulfill the U.S.' $500M commitment to the Amazon Fund in Brazil; and they are deepening the U.S. commitment to frontline indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities in Colombia as efforts are made towards peace.
