Religious freedom should be about one's personal practicing of their religion, not the imposition of one's religious practices onto others.

One of the important things about religious freedom is that it includes freedom from religion. Sadly it gets forgotten too often when politicians' personal views on religion are used to enforce laws on others.
It should be illegal to mix politics with religion and make laws from religious belives that affects all people no matter of belief or religion. Now I do not know your constitution perfectly but in my eyes, it should be included in it.

All our laws extended from religion, specifically Christianity and Hellenism. You don't understand these things because you are not able to critically think due to your ideology. I can say this of your world view, it is myopic and very archaic, so much so that we'll over 3000 years ago the Greeks had already discovered that the truest "minority" is the individual. Because each person is truly unique and there are no two people with exactly the same intersectionalities.

@@benkaiser2208 Right, and the prevalent message is the one that you posted. Which is the State cannot establish a religion.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
Meaning everyone has a freedom to worship under any belief they choose. Or not to worship at all. No one belief system or religion as you will has any more right than another. Or over those who don't have a belief system that they subscribe to.
That's it, quite simple. It doesn't empower religion to be used to translate the US constitution, based on a specific religion because that would be the establishment of a religion. A direct violation of the first amendment. It simply means no one can tell you what religion you can choose.

Faith is a realm of ignorance, there is no truth or wisdom to be found in such a place. The path to truth is littered with the bodies of the ignorant and the path to atheist is littered with bibles.
It is easy to blame or accuse others, but it is the people who put these people in office. It is the people who are conned by these politicians when they start using the religion card on them. It is the people that use faith when making a decision when they vote, and it is the people who pay the price for using faith. Good ideal, and true in some sense, but not possible in a total sense. If you mean removal of judeo-Christian foundation entirely then you either replace it with another religion or with naturalistic naturalism in which case the cruel religious people, or cruel non religious people, have as much right to define what is good and holy law as you. You can no longer say you are objectively wrong but rather I don't like your position but it's just as valid as mine. Assuming you mean replacement of religious beliefs with non religious ones, you also lose footing for intrinsic equality of value, dignity, and worth, and so will inevitably follow that path of every nation that's attempted to hold that position, especially when a personality like Trump gains control and has the authority and responsibility of Nietzsche's super man to define good and evil. Ours good these values of equality that rest on that foundation can be shared by others who don't necessarily follow it, but to think everyone will continue to is naive of history and human nature.

She's calling out the "Christians" in politics who have these extreme views and they're not a representative of the religious group. Evangelicals have always used the "Christian" card forever and it's some warped views honestly. The most important Christian values are about loving your neighbor and helping the needy. So policies like Social Security, having universal healthcare, supporting minorities, chartity etc. are actually very very Christian. Indeed, without a common standard by which to measure things, there is no agreement.
Now, to be fair, Steecie could be referring to the corrupt nature of the Sanhedrin to write laws, in the name of religion, that generally benefitted themselves. That would support AOC's argument. Jesus called out the Pharisees on this many times, for twisting God's Law to enrich themselves.

To the influence of this book are we indebted for all the progress made in true civilization, and to this we must look as our guide in the future. @@angelgirld how is AOC using the word faith? yes, faith can stand for believing in someone or something, but when she talks about her faith, it's the faith of Christianity. Since she was spitting out scripture verses. When we use faith as a term of religion, it does not belong to anyone, but the Creator. When we use the term "my faith," we slowly starting to turn the faith into something that I pick and choose to believe, and that's what AOC is doing. Since we are talking about religion, the secular terms do little effects in this discussion. Funny how people like yourself are so quick to the childish tactic as name-calling. Why people are so petty? I would ask that about yourself sir or ma'am or whatever your preferred pronoun is. If we are about to have a real civil discussion, I suggest we treat each other with respect and let's not try to accuse each other. it's okay to give your opinion and still be civil. You don't have to throw accusations and name-calling while you state your opinion.

It comes down to a territorial attitude. It is ok for my coworker to have so many christian things on the walls you’d swear she was trying to repel a vampire. But if I wanted to put 1 thing anywhere she’d have to GIVE territory, and that gets her knickers twisted.
But it’s not a territory. It’s incorporeal. If you give thousands of peoples their religious freedoms YOU DON’T LOSE ANY OF YOUR OWN! You can still do all the things you did yesterday. Having to share the road with other cars shouldn’t effect how you drive.
The ONLY territory is money. More parishes means more donations. More followers means more donations. It’s why a thousand years ago churches were very territorial. You don’t want half the town’s donations and another church to gets the rest.
So you make rules about breeding. You try to breed out the competition over a few generations. You try to convert. You try to get politicians of your persuasion. You send out missionaries.
Religion is not territorial. Organized religion is the original gentrification business. It’s money.
And sadly that aggressive attitude that every other religion is somehow encroaching has been instilled into the every day followers. It’s xenophobia without borders

      yes it is.
...and I believe faith, not the religious kind, but faith and a steadfast focus towards the evolution of the human spirit is paramount to our mission. It already has passed a tipping point. now we see those that have and continue to embrace the darkness within themselves squirm, act out in frustration and anger, as they eat themselves from the inside out.
We might, as the humans leading this change towards a heart led life, have humility; having compassion for those who's realities are showing signs of crumbling. As their belief systems are beginning to be threatened by the majority of the world, they begin first with anger and lashing out. Yet their most difficult challenge still lies ahead; when they themselves begin to question their own beliefs and reality; causing their insanity to play out as an epic, internal battle for change within occurs. They will need support and love to get through it.
      Hold your flame high.
