Funny to me hearing that people want more pausing. Usually on reaction stuff people are like "pause less so you're basically just a bonus to me watching/rewatching the thing". Hearing people want it more shows how valuable your guys' commentary/perspective is. Either way for me, I just want you both to watch it however you all want, because more immersion from you two just makes for a better watching experience on my end, and that's what's the best part about this series :). I think that's what really differ her channel and Coach Donny- by pausing we got the best of both world in term of reaction and also their full attention to the show!
It really is amazing how Sarah and Adam's love for the sport really shows during their discussions, it adds more beauty to an already great series that ended years ago. It gives a new perspective when watching/reading haikyu for those with no volleyball background. Other Haikyuu fans who isn't watching their reaction videos truly are missing out.
@@jujuchonk wasnt one of the people who wrote it but its perfectly fair criticism. At the end of the day we are all here for a reaction - I would much rather have hour and a half long video with pauses than thirty minutes where they miss an important point of situation since they were discussing. Nothing toxic about it - its normal feedback.
@FuFightersStudio I would get it if they were just starting the series....but they've been doing it this way since the beginning. I understand that sometimes, some dialogue and moments might be slightly missed, but if it upsets people so badly, then don't watch....
@@jujuchonkpeople are upset because it's uncommon for Sarah and Adam to miss stuff, they're very careful and pause a lot to not miss anything. It's not like this has been a common occurrence
i just really like the Shiratorizawa third years' friendship 😭😭 we get more of Tendou's and Ushijima's interactions with Semi and Leon in the manga, but what we do get in the anime is really wholesome because even though they all know Ushijima is stoic, Tendou is... quirky, and Semi is hotheaded, they all still accept each other and love each other. they even address's e/o using their first names. their bond is actually quite underrated!
I love your commentaries. Pause as much as you need to. The vast majority of viewers are rewatching with you, anyway. I love hearing your insights and I think you guys are funny.
19:43 This has absolutely nothing to do with the plot, but I would never leave the Shiratorizawa cafeteria. They’re serving: • Udon (hot and cold) • Soba (hot and cold) • Karaage curry • Katsu curry • Croquette curry • Curry rice • Baked ginger pork meal set • Karaage meal set 🤤🤤🤤
Gosh, this season is flying by, it’s almost bittersweet. And please never ever apologize for pausing to talk. We are always so invested in hearing your guys’ discussions and thoughts!! Also, Battle of the Garbage Dump is available on Crunchyroll starting tonight ‼️
Always love getting Adam's commentary on Ukai's coaching decisions. As a viewer, I thought Ukai's decision was totally natural given Kageyama's fatigue. Didn't even think anything of it. But hearing Adam frame it as a "fireable offense" really put into perspective just how much Ukai is going out on a limb here. And yeah, in real life 99% of coaches would not do something like that in a crucial match. Especially given the fact that player fatigue as it is portrayed in the show isn't very realistic, as you both noted. Great commentary!
No need to apologize for the pauses sarah. I personally love when you take those moments to pause while sharing your thoughts. It keeps the focus on those scenes and makes it feel like I’m watching alongside you rather than commenting over the scenes as they play. And I believe a lot of us really appreciate the pauses. And after all, it’s your reaction channel, so I think it’s best if you go with what feels right for you. So don’t feel sorry about it at all (: (I'm sorry my english still not good I hope my comment understandable😄)
Love the pausing! Don't want you to miss anything!! Tendo is one of my fav characters!! I'm so happy you guys read him perfectly. I love tendo bc he doesn't really focus on the other team. It's himself and feeling good during the game. He truly wants to play his best, the way he knows how. He is a rare case that knows who is/what kind of player he wants to v early on and stays true to himself!
Ukai has never been afraid to take risks. Adam's comments about the decision to start Suga were very similar to when Ukai shifted the rotation for the second set of the Dateko match back in Season 1. It's so sweet how Ushijima's dad was like "As long as you like volleyball in 'some way', it'll make me happy", so he decided he wanted to become the kind of ace that his dad talked about with so much reverence.
pausing more is always nice because you're less likely to miss something, but not pausing is also fine. it's your reaction after all, whatever you guys feel is right in the moment. i find that pausing allows for more in depth discussions /comments (which is great, i love listening to you guys talk) vs. brief/unfinished thoughts because you're also trying to keep up with subtitles as it goes on. i love that moment between ushijima and his dad where he hopes ushijima will come to like volleyball in any form. that implication that ushijma aimed to become the kind of ace his dad admired...it's such a sweet detail🥺
pls more thoughts! if I wanted to watch the episode I would just put it on, the best part about this is to hear your point of view, like this is literally the first time I've seen a reaction comment on how risky and bold (even to the point of not agreeing) switching kageyama out is. I think the general public (me included) just thought it was logical because Kageyama was portrayed as being so tired but hearing the actual input from pros is really cool.
I loved the discussion this episode, I can just imagine Ukai in the back like “y’all I was working at a little corner store before, I can’t believe we got this far,I’m just doing shit out here”
33:34 so they actually *were* saying that Tsukki touched the block; the subtitles translated this one wrong. If you go back and watch the swing, you can see Tsukki touch it slightly and immediately wince from the pain. The subs say that the ball touched the *line* a little bit, but it was supposed to say that the ball touched the *block* a little bit
Yeah, wrong translation. But there's no need to go back and check whether or not Tsukki touched it since it clearly shows Tsukki's fingers were ripped in the followup scene.
@erict1628 true, but they did seem shocked initially that the ref called a touch - I was more referencing the fact that you can, indeed, clearly see it happen before the damage to Tsuki's hand is shown
@@NoahMcGuire Yeah, what's really confusing about the translation error in this scene (although that's par for the course for Haikyu on Crunchyroll) is how obviously it hit the block before going out, so how did the translator even get it wrong?
LOVE you guys talking about your personal experiences. truly, like that is something I'm not going to get from other people reacting to haikyuu. You're approaching the show with real experience. so when i watched the episode and tsukki hurts his hand, I'm thinking its over. but when then adam sees it and goes 'tape it up, you're good' i love that
Ignore the people saying to pause less, I've already rewatched haikyuu at least 5 times all because i enjoy all the different people reacting to the show and giving their different input and talking about their own experiences. I really enjoy both of your reactions so stay fabulous ❤
It’s so interesting to see you talk about the decisions that coaches make and how it impacts everything. As a viewer who didn’t know much about volleyball before watching Haikyuu, I didn’t even question Ukai’s decision to put Suga in. But now, I can see the logic behind having your starters play the whole match. Now I wonder if Ukai’s decision was born out of fear or if it was actually strategic.
Loved hearing all the stories from you guys in this episode! Really sweet to see Sarah tearing up at the bits with Ushijima and his dad, it's always so cool to see this show that means so much to me touch someone else like that too!
36:10 to 38:12 Two minutes. This might be the longest and weirdest "tease" that they did on this channel. For two long minutes, while discussing hands, Adam did not even show his. lol
IF you want an honest opition about pauses, here is my personal view on this: Obivously you guys are the main characters in this whole experience, and you do what is best for you, thats a given. For me as a viewer, when, for example, someone is talking off-topic during an emotional moment, it breaks the moment. If it is paused during the "rise" of emotions - it breaks the moment. Any kind of entertainment is all about these waves of emotions, and the "collective" or shared emotions with others. In this episode the pauses, in my opinion, were right on point. They should be done, during natural transitions of anime, and during cooldown moments between spikes of emotions. Now its not easy doing it, if you are watching for the first time, becase you dont know what is behind the corner ("is the moment over, or is there a big moment, right the next second?). At the same time, in a normal scenario, we will feel similar emotions, so when you decide to pause, it will often be "good time" because we are "on the same wave". Its always all about synchonization of emotions - thats the ultimate experience. (thats why people go to stadiums to watch games). We are watching it with you, but you are watching it without us, which makes it more nuanced. We watch a pre-recorded experience, and the interraction that is happening sort of goes through time itself. In the end, you guys create the content, and if not for you, we wouldnt have it at all. I am sure you enjoy sharing it, and you are gettin your own positive experience from these interractions, but still, thank you for sharing your experience. Its not over yet, but its been an incredible journey so far, and I cant believe that we are slowly finishing season 3!
This is my favorite episode in this season as it shows Ushijima and Tendou on what it means for them to play volleyball and what drives them to play it. Very great relatable characters especially as an athlete.
Sarah, at the end of the previous episode Hinata did not overran it, it was Kageyama who missed the set because his focus was faltering due to being tired. That is why Kageyama says “Nice cover” instead of yelling at him for overrunning
Keep pausing and chatting. If I wanted to just watch the show I would do it on my own. I watched Sarah the first time and now with Adam a second time because I want to hear about you two, your thoughts, your experiences, and how you connect to the same thing that we love!
As a wise man once said “We can always lower the net. The first thing we should be teaching kids is how fun it is to succeed at something”, or something along those lines 😆
I'm Japanese and my English isn't perfect, but I always enjoy seeing your reactions with subtitles. Comments from experts give us new insights😳✨ I look forward to seeing more videos from you both!
The difference between Kageyama and Ushijima are coaches and training: Ushijima is used to play at National level, probably attending 4 National competitions since the start of high school (not even counting junior high), playing some of the best teams in the nation, Kageyama has 0 experience with that. Also, let's take into account he's two years older than Kageyama which means more experience overall. The last point is coaches: Ushijima is the central focus in Shiratorizawa, Washijo (his coach) entire plan relies on him, while Ukai is more open to change and try new things. So no, Ushijima will not be subbed till he's spitting blood or something his coach justify jajaj
i understand both sides. I understand both Ushijima and Hinata. Ushijima is one of the top aces in their prefecture. He is a great volleyball player who practices and have good technique. Hinata on the other hand is the opposite. But given that Hinata is short and is limited due to his physique, he does things that can help him stay more on the court. Not to mention he didn't get much practice in junior high. The beautiful thing is to watch Hinata grow and become better. He always evolve and become better.
please dont be sorry for pausing a lot. Its a lot better to pausa a lot and give your toughts then speaking trough a important scene and missing some important bits :) We love it
💜🤍 the combo Tendo/Ushi backstories. Papa Waka is the first father (I think) we've see in Haikyuu, and he's a legend as a father and as an alum. Edit- OMG SARAHHH THAT PINKY STORY😱 ✋💥💨💣🏐💥💥🙌💥💥...🤙☠
Technically, Grampa Ukai is the first (grand)father? lol. We also have the cheering squad of the greasy little giant of the pink team. (Takeru?) I think his father was there.
Keep in mind Suga is a 3rd year. This is his LAST year of volleyball. This is potentially the last game of the year. From a winning focus it may make sense to keep Kageyama in. But from a high school play time stand point, it makes sense why they put Suga in. ❤
I'm here for the commentary, so pause all you want! I didn't get interested in volleyball until a few years into college when I found Haikyuu, and part of me wondered if I would have had a good time playing it. But my job involves my hands a lot - hours of typing up code, soldering, and testing electronics... I'm now happy I didn't do anything that would leave the joints in my fingers changed now
The move with Suga starting instead of Kageyama reminded me of the finale of 2020 olympics where ROC replaced captain Kobzar with Pankov as the starting setter.
I am happy to see you having opinions on ukai’s decisions. But you know, this is his first year of being a coach😂give him some spaces on making mistakes
I found the channdl like a week ago and I'm so glad I finally catch up to the uploads (yes I watched all 4 seasons with Sarah and 2 will Sarah and Adam in 10-ish days 🥰
I would rather he pauses than miss the scenes, lol. Regarding starting Suga... Well, it might not make sense on the volleyball side, but it makes sense on the storytelling, lol, cause of the third years and this might be their last game...
I love how Haikyu manages to make you cheer for the players from the other teams too. Its all about that personal struggle. Watching someone face difficulties and overcome them or "die" trying. Life in a nutshell.
With Tendo a lot of it is also how he wants to improve or if he wants to improve at all. If his goals are to have fun matches you maybe dont wanna get to the next level.
This setup for the finale is insane: The control tower? Fatigue, can't command. The jumper? Tired, can't jump. The brain? Just removed from the match entirely.
This could be me reaching but, maybe Kageyama is tired because the opposing hitters are strong. When they're hitting into Karasuno's definitively weak receiving core (though there are standouts like Noya/Daichi), many of the receives go awry and Kageyama has to run all over the court and set from random trajectories, over the course of 5 sets.
This is actually my favourite episode of the season, if not all of Haikyuu, because it cements what Shiratorizawa ACTUALLY stands for. Almost every player in Shiratorizawa is 'special', but that can also be interpreted as 'freakish'. All of them have habits, bodies, personalities and desires that are considered strange at best, warped at worst by various figures in their pasts: - Ushiwaka is left handed, something that is still looked down upon as freakish in many corners of the world - Satori is socially awkward and neurodivergent, and was ostracised as a kid as a result - Leon is black, one of the only black characters we see IN Haikyuu. More than that, he's a black teen volleyball player in JAPAN. - Goshiki is leagues better than almost any other player his age, but has no idea how to act around other players - Shirabu want's to be a LESS expressive setter, and was constantly used as a fast tricky setter by previous teams as a crutch Shiratorizawa is described by Shirabu as, "a place where strong people gather," but strength without obvious purpose just seems to seperate people from the herd, often leading to bullying or stigmatization. You can say many things about their Volleyball philosophy and Coach Washijo's way of treating his players, but Shiratorizawa is somewhere that not only accepted these outcasts, but showed them how their 'special-ness' could actually be 'talent' when seen through the right lens. It's a place where people are shown how to be strong, because what makes you strong and what makes you different are two sides of the same coin.
Also it's not like Ushijima can be actually described at good at socializing..! I always thought it was a bit on autism spectrum or something like that, seeing how he speak and how he interpret things.
One moment where I really identified with Ushiwaka was when he was just like "oh, it's fine" about his parents' divorce. I'm autistic so I relate to him in other ways too, but when my parents told us they were getting a divorce my siblings were shocked and crying while I was just "okay, can I go now? I have other stuff to do."
I love how Haikyu doesn't have "villains" in the series. Some may be framed as villainous in the beginning (ie Tsukishima, Oikawa, Ushijima) but there's never really any "bad blood" between them. Obviously sports anime are different from other "shonen" anime like Demon Slayer in that people aren't killed in sports anime, but it's not uncommon to have actual bad/antagonistic people in sports anime.
25:00 Well a little before but I just want to comment on the pauses. I love the pausing to comment, to me pauses are great so I can both listen to your thoughts and I know missing anything is harder when you pause before speaking. It also lets episodes have a nice length, it's always a little sad when one ends and I have to wait another week.
I think Ukai makes the zany call to put Suga in because being zany and unexpected is Karasuno's only shot at winning this match. He really commits to the bit.
Someone was telling me that the animators made a mistake in the previous episode or something. They were saying that Suga came in and made that great play and should have been serving again, but they had Kageyama serve instead and this was their way of fixing that. I’m not sure if that’s accurate or not
That's not really how it's framed though. Nobody in-universe refers to it as a surprise or unexpected tactic. Nobody reacts strangely to it at all. Everyone treats it as if it's a perfectly normal tactical decision.
40:26 Adam talking about getting a 1v1 stuff block while Sarah is looking in the camera knowing she did exactly that on game point to win Gold in the Olympics lmfao
I don’t know if you guys have see the aythor’s individual comments for each characters. If not , I suggest you see them. These words perfectly interpret the characters’ personalities. Tendo’s word is “愉快” which means “Happy”. Tsuki’s word is “理智“ which means “Sane”. The author gave most of characters these words. I think once you understand these words , you understand these characters. (English is not my native language, so sorry for my bad descriptions)
Ushijima the GOAT, only upwards 36:10 volleyball hands 😢 I feel that as a middle but can only imagine how much more it changes as a high-level/caliber player
Ushijima is the enemy of the main characters, and readers are easily led to believe he is a villain because they empathize with Karasuno, but he simply loves volleyball and continues to work hard for his ideals. ushijima is just blunt and almost all of his words are in literal meaning. so he looks like comes off cocky sometimes to others, but in reality he didn't mean it maliciously. He is simply honing his innate talent, following the words of his father: "When you join a strong team, you'll be surrounded by all kinds of people who will make you even stronger," in order to become the "exciting ace" that his father envisions.
@Sarah, us short players have to figure out a different way to fight, because we lack the height and the power that the "standard/correct" players have. We who are from the concrete have to grow in tough conditions. We aren't made in good soil, so we adapt and take what we can and do what we can to rise to the top. I absolutely love both your commentary and mindset, but I want to challenge your notion that "weird/unorthodox" players (and plays) aren't playing the game of volleyball. The ability to do crazy unorthodox things is what I believe makes volleyball beautiful. SPOILER QUOTE WARNING: "Volleyball is a sport of height. It is an absolute that tall players are strong. Strengthening each player is a strength, and so is finding a new way to fight. That’s why there are so many different attacks and defenses today. There are truly various kinds of strengths. The geat coach Arie Selinger once said, 'There is no reason to believe that there will be no development or changes in the future.”"
I don't think you are wrong on Ukai's decision but I will remind you once again. He has never in his life been a coach in any way before. He had to go to his grandfather to relearn about tempo. So while you aren't wrong, going on and on about it like it is the biggest surprise in the world is a bit much.
23:54 here I saw someone pointing out that it seemed like Tendo was projecting because he was always tod that he was scary because people didn't understand him and Ushiwaka saying is not true shows a lot about their friendship (It's someones take but I like it a lot) 28:21 I'll just clarify oonly because I've seen many mistake his words, he isn't pressuring Ushijima into playing, he says "if you were to like volleyball in any capacity, even as a ffan of the sport, I'll be happy that we both share that love"
I TRULY understand what Sarah was talking about in relation to appreciating "purist" skills. Ive played card games competitively for 26 years and theres a big difference between somone who is good in a traditional sense vs somone who is...."untraditional". They have soo many weak points and flawed logic that need work, and its infuriating when things keep working out for them.
The designate devil's advocate here to defend coach's decision to start fifth set with Suga instead of Kageyama. Your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, We are currently in 3rd season of this masterpiece that we call Haikyuu and we are used to Kageyama as a setter bringing the team to victory. So of course when we get so close to the finishing line which is fifth set that it will raise some questions when you start without him. But ladies and gentlemen of the jury let me remind you of something very important. I would like to recall the moment from first season where coach struggled to decide which setter to take as his starter. In that moment he pointed out that Kageyama is genius setter and his precision is out of this world which makes him a good choice for starting setter. But i would like to point out that coach also says that Kageyama have lot of flaws he needs to polish out before he becomes profesional setter. Your honnor, i was paraphrasing so i will retract that statement and stick to the facts. When comparing the two setter Coach said Kageyama was genius but it takes more than that to compensate for trust and stability that Sugawara have. Suga is 3rd year and he knows all the habits of his hitters and more importantly he trust them and they trust him. Kageyama does not have this trust yet but he has genius level of talent that compensates for it. You dont need trust when you have skills of his level. It is important to remind you of this because it is very easy to forget that Sugawara is very skilled setter and even though he is not genius like kageyama when it comes to setting to karasuno hitters he was the best at it until genius first year appeared on the team. Reason i am bringing this up is to create a foundation for my defense which is the fact that Kageyama is a setter because his genius precision gives him an edge over Sugawara. So why is that relevant? Well if we are to lets say remove said genius precision from kageyama for whatever reason, him being tired beause he never played 5 set match without a break comes to my mind for example, then i would argue that Kageyama loses the advantage he has over Sugawara. So to summarize my point, If we are talking Kageyama with his genius precision and overwhelming talent versus Sugawara's trust and consistency then Kageyama is a better pick. But i we remove said precision and talent from kageyama due to him being tired Sugawara is better choice. The matter of better choice aside, the defense is not trying to undermine the importance of having kageyama on the court in the final set. On the contrary your honor, defense claims that it is BECAUSE of how important having Kageyama at his best in the final moments that it is great choice to start with Sugawara. Because only reason why Kageyama is underperforming at the given moment is his tiredness and fatigue. Both things that can be solved by sitting down and taking a short rest which is only possible by having Sugawara on the court. The defense rests the case your honor. Also to address some valid arguments from both Adam and Sarah outside the courtroom. Yes changing the tempo/rhythm by starting with Sugawara this late in game is dangerous but so far every time Suga entered the game it never really made karasuno underperform thanks to all the 2nd and 3rd years playing so comfortably with him. I would argue that if there is argument to be made about him hurting karasuno it would only be his compatibility with first years which i admit is valid argument. But to counter that argument, While its true that first years may be less effective i would also point out that enemy team is always thrown out of the rhythm way more than karasuno. Just look at Oikawa's reactions to every time Suga was on the court during their matches. And yes Sarah has valid point, by starting with sugawara you are removing him as potential pinch server but question at hand would be - what is more important, having suga as pinch server, or having kageyama rested and back to his full power. Me personally i prefer kageyama performing at his best during final points even if it means suga not being able to come in as pinch server opposed to suga coming as pinch server in match where kageyama did not have a chance to rest and is underperforming whole fifth set
14:12 that's why Shiratowrizawa's coach deserve at least a bit of respect. He said it before, I don't care if you don't fit it before, or if you're weird, if you corrispond to what I think are strong player (so already high skilled player) then for me you're on the team. Also, I add, with taking in considerations Japanese society, where being different is still seen more as a bad thing "the stick that stick out must put in" (horrible translation by me btw) but that gives the idea. Tendo is different and was not going to fit. But in truth I think those are the person that will be champions.
not taking credit away from the entire team, but Tsukki was the MVP of this game through and through. Its not about that one block on Ushijima but all of the touches he is getting on his hits, but lets face it, if you asked Ushijima which Karasuno player he struggled the most against, it would be Tsukki(also Hinata because he irritates him for another reason lol). I mean its not like he isnt used to playing with good blockers, its just that in Karasuno he was probably the constant annoyance to him, and in this episode it straight up proves that he is bothered by Tsukki and now that its the final set, he cant keep it hidden and its straight up visible now.
About kageyama getting benched, I agree that there is no way you put your important player in the important set like this. But I think just to add a little bit of consideration (in case you didn't mention it), is that Kageyama has to pair with every crazy plays with Hinata. And as Oikawa said, always have to be ready giving a perfect toss, everytime Hinata has a crazy way to score point must be tiring. And also, sometimes even on bad receive, Hinata also making a weird move will make kageyama have to consider so hard on his brain of any plays that possible and have to give the set. Just in case, Shiratorizawa setter can just make an easy play to the left or right everytime the receive is bad
And just like Sarah's said, Hinata is considered as a "weird" player. That's why Kageyama has a very hard time play with people like that, different with Shiratorizawa setter having hitters that play like "normal"
Why did you change the earbuds at minute 13? I don't know if I was the only one who noticed but it left me thinking about it for the rest of the video hahaha
Sarah's rant on volleyball purism reminds me of a few professional poker players I know. Great players. At a kitchen table they get trounced. Because regular people playing poker do irrational things. They go in on hands they shouldn't. They bet when they shouldn't. Professional players against professional players, you can put them on certain hands. Random people? We're clowns making slap-stick decisions with absolute garbage in our hands and odds and outs mean nothing. And it is ENDLESSLY frustrating to people who actually know what they're doing.
No no! Don't apologise for pausing! There is no point of doing one of these videos if I can't listen to your insights and thought? I might as well just watch the anime by myself if I didn't learn anything here.
NEW EARBUDS! Did Adam watch something so moving that he broke your old earbuds? Edit: Sarah's upside-down. That's why she keeps on touching it. Edit: The old one's back. Nvm.

So don’t feel sorry about it at all (:
(I'm sorry my english still not good I hope my comment understandable😄)
The risk he took here doesn't make sense though
pausing more is always nice because you're less likely to miss something, but not pausing is also fine. it's your reaction after all, whatever you guys feel is right in the moment. i find that pausing allows for more in depth discussions /comments (which is great, i love listening to you guys talk) vs. brief/unfinished thoughts because you're also trying to keep up with subtitles as it goes on.
i love that moment between ushijima and his dad where he hopes ushijima will come to like volleyball in any form. that implication that ushijma aimed to become the kind of ace his dad admired...it's such a sweet detail🥺
A lap of diving drills for all those who complain about reactors pausing
Just reminding you to let Adam know that episode 8 is the last episode with coach Ukai's original voice actor.
pls more thoughts! if I wanted to watch the episode I would just put it on, the best part about this is to hear your point of view, like this is literally the first time I've seen a reaction comment on how risky and bold (even to the point of not agreeing) switching kageyama out is. I think the general public (me included) just thought it was logical because Kageyama was portrayed as being so tired but hearing the actual input from pros is really cool.
I loved the discussion this episode, I can just imagine Ukai in the back like “y’all I was working at a little corner store before, I can’t believe we got this far,I’m just doing shit out here”
Guys, please react episode 9 and 10 in the same video. There's a hype between those episodes that must not be severed.
You know what I find amusing? That I cry the same parts that Sarah does. This show gets even more emotional with every watch
You're approaching the show with real experience. so when i watched the episode and tsukki hurts his hand, I'm thinking its over. but when then adam sees it and goes 'tape it up, you're good'
i love that
Ignore the people saying to pause less, I've already rewatched haikyuu at least 5 times all because i enjoy all the different people reacting to the show and giving their different input and talking about their own experiences.
Only 46 minutes of video? Not enough, I want 2 hours. A whole Haikyuu podcast.
36:10 to 38:12
Two minutes. This might be the longest and weirdest "tease" that they did on this channel.
For two long minutes, while discussing hands, Adam did not even show his. lol
IF you want an honest opition about pauses, here is my personal view on this:
Obivously you guys are the main characters in this whole experience, and you do what is best for you, thats a given.
LOVED the commentary on this episode
Sarah, at the end of the previous episode Hinata did not overran it, it was Kageyama who missed the set because his focus was faltering due to being tired. That is why Kageyama says “Nice cover” instead of yelling at him for overrunning
Keep pausing and chatting. If I wanted to just watch the show I would do it on my own. I watched Sarah the first time and now with Adam a second time because I want to hear about you two, your thoughts, your experiences, and how you connect to the same thing that we love!
Man i genuinely can't wait for adam to watch ep 8, it's one of my absolute favs
i saw how long the episode was and started getting comfy because i knew we were gonna get fed good today 😆😆
I will forever be jealous I won't ever know the feeling of stuff blocking someone.
You and me both. Soft block is all I have. Lol.
Unbelievable feeling. Thoroughly recommend honing the skill because it is such a satisfying way to win a point
As a wise man once said “We can always lower the net. The first thing we should be teaching kids is how fun it is to succeed at something”, or something along those lines 😆
can I just say I love the insights on Tendo's backstory from a coaching perspective! thank you guys for another great video!
I'm Japanese and my English isn't perfect, but I always enjoy seeing your reactions with subtitles.
Comments from experts give us new insights😳✨
I look forward to seeing more videos from you both!
Its a lot better to pausa a lot and give your toughts then speaking trough a important scene and missing some important bits :)
We love it
💜🤍 the combo Tendo/Ushi backstories.
@@talosig23 Could never forget Gramppa Ukai! I did, however, totally forget Pink Little Giant's whole family being at the game. Good Call!
Love seeing Adam take inspiration from Yagami Light at the end with the blocking stories, He really said I’ll stop them with my bare hands😅😂
The soundtrack while Tendou is looking down at Suga with his smug face. Chef's kiss 🤌
Keep in mind Suga is a 3rd year. This is his LAST year of volleyball. This is potentially the last game of the year. From a winning focus it may make sense to keep Kageyama in.
But from a high school play time stand point, it makes sense why they put Suga in. ❤
I just noticed the poster in the back! Such a great quote and very nice poster!
Hearing you guys’ stories made my day! You’re such great athletes
I am happy to see you having opinions on ukai’s decisions. But you know, this is his first year of being a coach😂give him some spaces on making mistakes
I love the pausing, keep it going
This setup for the finale is insane:
The control tower?
All of them have habits, bodies, personalities and desires that are considered strange at best, warped at worst by various figures in their pasts:
- Ushiwaka is left handed, something that is still looked down upon as freakish in many corners of the world
- Satori is socially awkward and neurodivergent, and was ostracised as a kid as a result
- Leon is black, one of the only black characters we see IN Haikyuu. More than that, he's a black teen volleyball player in JAPAN.
- Goshiki is leagues better than almost any other player his age, but has no idea how to act around other players
- Shirabu want's to be a LESS expressive setter, and was constantly used as a fast tricky setter by previous teams as a crutch
Shiratorizawa is described by Shirabu as, "a place where strong people gather," but strength without obvious purpose just seems to seperate people from the herd, often leading to bullying or stigmatization.
Sports are good your your health!
Also sports: 37:30
One moment where I really identified with Ushiwaka was when he was just like "oh, it's fine" about his parents' divorce. I'm autistic so I relate to him in other ways too, but when my parents told us they were getting a divorce my siblings were shocked and crying while I was just "okay, can I go now? I have other stuff to do."
hello just wanted to say there is an extra scene at the end of s3 too and you guys should watch it.
Loved the pausing!
Thanks for sharing your tears and emotions, you guys.
I just want to say that the next episode features the fourth Haikyuu moment of the anime. And I hope for it.
bin waiting on thisssssss
25:00 Well a little before but I just want to comment on the pauses. I love the pausing to comment, to me pauses are great so I can both listen to your thoughts and I know missing anything is harder when you pause before speaking.
It also lets episodes have a nice length, it's always a little sad when one ends and I have to wait another week.
Lançou o novo filme de haikyu!! Esperando a reacting
The call where they say that Ushijima's spike was in is a mistranslation. That's why Tsukki has the cut on his finger.
Best reactions on here.
the pausing and talk are great, don't stop! :D
(English is not my native language, so sorry for my bad descriptions)
love your share!!
Ushijima the GOAT, only upwards
36:10 volleyball hands 😢 I feel that as a middle but can only imagine how much more it changes as a high-level/caliber player
33:45 idk if this is a translation issue or something, but I'm pretty sure he was calling a touch on the block
Looking forward to next episode, might need ✍️ 😁
I appreciate the pausing
33:22 The most surprised we’ve ever seen Adam XD
SPOILER QUOTE WARNING:
"Volleyball is a sport of height.
23:54 here I saw someone pointing out that it seemed like Tendo was projecting because he was always tod that he was scary because people didn't understand him and Ushiwaka saying is not true shows a lot about their friendship (It's someones take but I like it a lot)
28:21 I'll just clarify oonly because I've seen many mistake his words, he isn't pressuring Ushijima into playing, he says "if you were to like volleyball in any capacity, even as a ffan of the sport, I'll be happy that we both share that love"
No sorry!! I love the pass from you guys sooooooo much!!!!
Honestly the more pauses the better as far as im concerned
Tendou deserves a spot on the bro house
30:25 - Can we call it "UshiMamba Mentality"? 🤣🤣
Only now I saw the Ukai poster on the wall. If I had to guess I'd say it's Adam's
not taking credit away from the entire team, but Tsukki was the MVP of this game through and through. Its not about that one block on Ushijima but all of the touches he is getting on his hits, but lets face it, if you asked Ushijima which Karasuno player he struggled the most against, it would be Tsukki(also Hinata because he irritates him for another reason lol). I mean its not like he isnt used to playing with good blockers, its just that in Karasuno he was probably the constant annoyance to him, and in this episode it straight up proves that he is bothered by Tsukki and now that its the final set, he cant keep it hidden and its straight up visible now.
i love you pausing a lot! 爱听!
Yeah, the "monsters" like Ushijima seem the type to go pro.
I broke/jammed the crap out of my left ring finger two months before my wedding and I couldn't get my ring on the day of. Such is the life lol.
I would argue that Yamaguchi is lower on the spiking order than Suga.
No no! Don't apologise for pausing! There is no point of doing one of these videos if I can't listen to your insights and thought? I might as well just watch the anime by myself if I didn't learn anything here.
please pause more 😊
NEW EARBUDS!
Did Adam watch something so moving that he broke your old earbuds?
Edit: Sarah's upside-down. That's why she keeps on touching it.
Edit: The old one's back. Nvm.
