People give this guy shit, but his dry humor is just his thing. He does good ,no nonsense reviews , without the flim flam and the bullshit. I prefer the look of the v7 range but, this bike with the extra power is a no brainer if you are looking in this category
Nice vid as ever gents...and nice bike too by the looks of it, I look forward to the time when those of us at the bottom of the food chain can have a ride ;0)
I really like this review. Straight forward and to the point. I think that Triumph is one of the few motorcycle companies that understands that flat out performance or electronic trickery is not all that motorcyclists are after. Something like the Street Twin is connected to motorcycle history in a way that most other bikes are not, and for some, especially those who aren't interested in ripping up pavement and doing consecutive track days, that is worth something.
He got a great job riding new bikes all over the world and getting loads of freebies I'd be chuffed to bits think how pissed he would look if he had a shit job like the rest of us
I like the review a lot. I'm looking to owning a Street Twin, love the quality and the performance and yeah the retro classy look. Thanks. We'll love to see a review if StreetTwin 2020 comes up
I ride the 2018. All the upgrade that you have mentioned are great, but for the type of riding I do on my Street Twin, its OK if you don't have them! :)
Another great review! Good thing you didn't stuff both the bikes into one video. Triumph now has so many great bikes in the Bonnie lineup. Only if they could hide that huge radiator somewhere, maybe under the seat (like the Britten V1000). It's odd seeing radiator grills in retro bikes.
Wow I kind of thought the Scrambler looked a little awkward sitting there with the light on it but in that first shot where you see a person sitting on the Scrambler and riding it, it looks way better.
Hi! Thanks for all the reviews. Just curious, which bike should i go for? Have tested and love them both. But i must choose that one bike. Bmw r nine t or Triumph Speed Twin? Greetings from Sweden. Thanks//Esteban
Wondering how tall you are to feel to tall for this bike.I am interested in this model and I am 5'11. Do you think I should be fine? I am meaning comfortable.
Its such a shame triumph doesn't make "modern classic" bikes for 6"ft + rides, i am 6"3 and have taken out the street twin and scrambler and look stupid on them, like monkey bikes for me, just increase the seat hights slightly please. Its clear they know this as every picture or event they are at the riders are all 5"8 at best, im not keen on the scrambler 1200 but the speed twin might have a good seat hight for men🤞🤞🤞 Sorry just frustrated i cant have a street scrambler.
I agree! Triumph regards the Street Twin as a "beginners' bike" but most of us have already reached our full adult height by the time we get that first bike. Shorter riders can adapt to a taller bike better than the other way around. And if they are too short to adapt it's easier to lower the bike for them than to raise it for a taller rider. Last year I talked to a woman about 5'2" tall with a 2015 Thruxton Ace that had been lowered slightly.
First iteration of this bike? 900cc made so little power. Reason? Basically a restriction camshaft installed, tiny throttlebodies, small airbox, and anything but performance baked into the powerplant. Yamaha was making more power and torque in the 689 twin than Triumph has been in the 900c twin. Sure hope they have remedied this thing.
Don't know why Triumph persist with the single front disc on big 1200cc bikes? Apart from the real or perceived performance issues it just looks terrible and lacks symmetry.
Nope it was 750 on the old model. He mentioned an extra 10mm in the video and he was right. Better than nothing but still too low for me, although I guess Triumph know that a fair few of these bike are bought by women.
I just bought a 2018 ktm. My criteria for buying a new bike are looks and engine with LED’s everywhere including the headlight. I also wanted a TFT dash with Corning ABS. Triumphs look great but still some work to keep up with the pack! KTM is raiding the bar
Good review. As an aside, when I were a lad in the 80s, it seemed as if the only bikes around were sports bikes. Personally speaking, I would never have got into bikes had there not been different types of bikes. I welcome Triumph's update! p.s. what is the difference between a solution and a turn-key solution?
Gerhard Symons all I can remember in the 80’s is sports bikes and one random poster I had of a Transalp. My interpretation of the difference between a solution and turn key solution, is the turn key one is hassle free. The ideal solution for me in terms of this style of bike is custom built, would cost a fortune and no doubt be a pain in the cock to maintain as it’d barely ever run right. Or it’d take forever to build, just my SR500 Cafe Racer project bike on this channel...
Great video, extremely helpful 👏 thanks 😊 Never entertain the idea you are too experienced to ride this or any other bike. Riders with twice your experience can get caught out. Your riding a 900cc and you've no idea what's round the corner. Ronnie O'sullivan once said after winning another world championship " I'm only learning the game, only scratching the surface " 😆
yeah but its far too dear for what you get! In Oz its $18k to $20k the same price as a 1ltr rice burner with heaps of tech. Its still basically a tarted up 70's bike.
Good review, looked forward to the riding report to see how the upgrades effected the bike. 1 question. Amongst your comments you said you thought you may be too big for the bike so, whats your height, seem and weight ?
Sure it has nothing to do with mpg. But if you had to stop and fill up at every gas station you passed because the tank was too small, I would consider that inefficient.
