I was a 15 yr. old teenager when I purchased a 1974 CL450 Honda Scrambler. I didn't even have a drivers license , a motorcycle license or motorcycle learners permit yet. I found the bike at a place called Ron's Cycle in North Smithfield , RI with my grandfather. Ron's allowed me to put the bike on layaway and pay so much every week until the bike was paid off , then I took it home. I rode that scrambler through the woods , down old railroad beds , in gravel pits etc. until I finally got my learners permit and could legally ride it on the street , then I rode it everywhere! I've owned a lot of other motorcycles since then ( Dual Sports - choppers - Cruisers - Big Bore Adventure bikes - Goldwings etc. ) but none of them compare to the fun I had on that CL450 scrambler when I was a teen. Since then I've always had a special place in my heart for scramblers. I absolutely love the new Triumph 900 Scrambler , it reminds me of the good ole days. I'm not physically able to ride anymore , but if I was I'd be siting on a Triumph Street Scrambler for sure! JT

I have had ‘scrambler fever’ for years but have never owned one. Recently went to the International Moto Show in LA so that I could sit on the new Triumph Scrambler.... but sitting on it did not do much. Watching your review moves me to want to sell my ‘17 T100. Well done🤙🏻 Your video crew has also done a stellar job, I would keep them🤗
Good job ! Another honest review of a decent bike. It's very difficult to convey the character of a bike in a video review and I think you guys have been able to do just that in the reviews of the old (2017) and the new Triumph scramblers
I'm in the market to buy a Scrambler and thought this was an great, honest review of what this bike is about. Clearly it will not meet everyone's needs, but it sounds like just what I'm looking for.
Great review. I love this guy's no bollocks attitude in all of his reviews. Just what I needed to know as I am currently considering a nice used 2017 model against a brand new bike.
Hi thanks for the video. I have a chance of a 2012 triumph scrambler once I’ve done my Cbt. Would this make a good learner bike. I also only have a 29 inside leg so might be to big. Where I live once you do your Cbt and over 18 you can drive any bike.
Thanks for the review - I love the combo of stats and emotion - potential buyers want to know how it feels to ride - numbers alone don’t make me buy. I was wondering about this versus the road-biased new 1200 scrambler - are Triumph just competing against themselves here, or are they going for different target markets?
What do you think of this vs. the Ducati Monster 821 for city driving? I am looking at this, Ducati Monster 821, and the Ducati Scrambler - Also waiting around to see how electric bikes shape up this year looking to buy this year. Will be my first bike but wanting something I don't have to upgrade every year along the way. I am driving like 2 miles to work and just weekend driving in a city.
Its cold and icy but sunny outside and this upload wants me to go out on my bike but the gritters have been out!!! Think i might stay in bed and watch some more of your vids 👍

Got to have a sit on one, at 6'3 and 110kg I thought it was gonna be too small. It's such a nice place to be. I am going to get one once fully licensed 🤘

I get the feeling you really like this bike, John 😜 It has the same HP as my 2009 Versys, but a fair bit more torque and sounds a thousand times better. I think it'd make a great tourer for people who actually want to take it easy on the way there and see the scenery when there. At that price, the Kawasaki Z900RS is probably a strong competitor, though.
Glad you enjoyed the new bike 2019 version, I have the 2018 and it is a lovely bike. Triumph just made it better in 2019! But I can't afford to get an upgrade!

British pot holes are shocking so the slightly off road ability is really helpful for the bad British roads. Clearly you love the Scrambler, be interested in your view of the newere 1200 Scrambler.
So which would offer the rider the greatest fun factor? This or the new SPEED Twin 1200? I don't need a new bike that's only fun blasting away at unsociable speed.
I've wanted this bike for a while and it seems like Triumph has addressed the major flaws with the previous model (front brake, fork, hp), but I just know I'll be lusting after the Scrambler 1200 when it hits the dealers.

Good question, Luke. It’d be the Z, based on the fact that it’s just as capable of posing as the Scrambler, but has enough performance to crack a track day in standard trim. I’d be happy with either, but the green one would make me smile faster.
Is Triumph, Harley, and all the Japanese bikes near the place i live in America. No Ducati dealers around. Ducati cost to much anyways. Harley cost to much also, but they are here in America. Getting parts is part of the thinking when it comes to getting a bike. I think most Americans love Triumph, and always have loved them.
You are cool my friend! Just like the bike behind you! I love the Street Twin. I am a new rider and looking forward to buy it next Spring. A bit expensive for first bike. But for me it was either this or no motorbike at all.
If i ever get a Triumph, i will get the 1200cc. I know is different Triumph that have a 1200cc, but i just know i want the bigger engine, no matter what Triumph i choose.
Tbh, as and when I get my stabilisers off, get bored of the ex learner bike I'll probably be getting when I finish my A license, this is the bike I want, it's cool as hell, cheaper to run than the competition, and it's so customisable, want a new headlight? Got for it. New seat? Sure thing batman....me gusta👌
Have a chance to buy a dealer used 2019 Scrambler so it's spec is quite nice and dealer will fit the full V & H through de cat system, do you think that's a good option? or should I try to get them to put the FOX piggyback shocks on it instead? Nice review, wet but not wet and cold like now!!! June in England.
I have a 2022 and the rear brake is mediocre at best. I don't like the front fork feel either. Tires might be OK if it really was a real Scrambler, but on the street they leave a lot to be desired. It is a great looking bike but it could stand some more refinement.
Joshua C if you are talking about the Royal Enfield twins.. they do have dual channel ABS.. and they don't appeal to all kind of riders.. you either like em or you don't..
@@arjunthomas Yup my bad...They do have dual channel ABS...seems they couldn't copy the Street twin upto a certain point though...Same tyres (both use Pirelli Phantoms)...Same looks...same classic colors..same upswept silencers...sadly "There is no liquid-cooling, ride-by-wire or electronics apart from the dual-channel ABS which is standard." Tbh, as and when I get my stabilisers off, get bored of the ex learner bike I'll probably be getting when I finish my A license, this is the bike I want, it's cool as hell, cheaper to run than the competition, and it's so customisable, want a new headlight? Got for it.
Anyone knows if they will upgrade also the street cup soon?
I would buy one immediately if they do.
I want this for my next bike. Great review
Great review
Nicely done! No mention of the new 1200cc Street Scrambler?
We're on the launch in a couple of weeks, here's our 1200 preview for now th-cam.com/video/cFMf-KjPqK0/w-d-xo.html
Thats great review. I'm planning to take one for myself next month.
That statement from about 6:40 is cool!
Love the bike! I'm a great fan of te street crambler It will be my next ride. But please... Its CASCAIS, CAS... CAIS with two C's :)
Joao Nunes thanks, Joao. It’s the second time I’ve been, I’ll make sure to get that if I go again.
Great review and video. No BS detection and I think very clear. Thanks much
Is this tubeless?
Best bike reviewer.
I cant understand why triumph dont sell more bikes as they are just superb. Ive got 2 already and this will be my 3rd........
Is this bike ready for long trips, 600 miles a day ?
It's awesome for long trips as long as you don't mind the wind in your face.
samson philip , is there an option of adding a wind screen?
Hello.. would you guys also be reviewing the Royal Enfield 650 twins? Cheers..
Yesssss! And the Jawa bikes. But I don't think they would go to smaller cc bikes.
Those aren't Superbikes lol...plus its pretty much a copy of the Street twin...nothing revolutionary...couldn't even give dual channel ABS XD
Joshua C if you are talking about the Royal Enfield twins.. they do have dual channel ABS.. and they don't appeal to all kind of riders.. you either like em or you don't..
And them being a copy of Triumph... I disagree.. yes they do look similar.. but they are based on the older Interceptor and the GT..
@@arjunthomas Yup my bad...They do have dual channel ABS...seems they couldn't copy the Street twin upto a certain point though...Same tyres (both use Pirelli Phantoms)...Same looks...same classic colors..same upswept silencers...sadly "There is no liquid-cooling, ride-by-wire or electronics apart from the dual-channel ABS which is standard." Gotta sell the bikes in India right? Had to make some differences to not get Design Infringements after all lol..and no you shouldn't like them...there is a wide list of reasons you shouldn't...if you really want to like a recent bike that launched and superbikes aren't you thing...then hands down I'd go for a Jawa...
A top notch 'no frills' (slight cynical take on the cliches) review.
Where the hell was that lighthouse in Portugal - I'd like to go there myself when a big sea is rolling in.
Brilliant review, love that Bike, beautiful quality 👌
Good review but..not sure about your riding style when leaning into turns..your head is tilting on the opposite side where it's supposed to...just my opinion but I've been always told to avoid how u tilt the head
John's a professional rider, he knows what he's doing...
What a great review. Thank you.
Cheers Paul
Good review. You need to find more things in this life to make you smile!
Gerhard Symons I’m smiling on the inside, Gerhard.
All new bikes have to have abs? First time to hear that. Is that E U?
Yes, think it was compulsory since 2016. Only 125cc and below are exempt.
14stone?
