My dog died 2 days ago. She was a blue tick hound and I miss here terribly. Watching Luna run around and playing made me smile and I am thankful for that.
Merry Christmas Michy and Steve. There is a hand tool for crimping the ducts. Even though one end is crimped, sometimes it needs just that little bit of extra. You can also do it with needle nose pliers. You may need only to do three or four extra crimps to shrink it enough to fit. You do not necessarily need the added crimping to run as long as the "factory" crimp. About 1/2 to 1 inch should be enough to get it started. Not knowing your plan, I do advise at least one screw in each joint to ensure no separation, then wrap with foil tape to seal it. WOW, I had not realized how long I have been watching your vids. Again, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
@@michygoss7148 Another great video, you are in your element for sure 👍 I watch all your videos they are awesome 👏 Merry Christmas To you and Steve and your fur babies 😊☃️🎅🧑🎄
you can also use a hose clamp to pull the crimp in enough to get it started. and never forget lubrication is your friend. graphite maybe for this application but there a million things you can use in a pinch. just make sure it wont stink or smoke too bad if it gets a little heat.@@michygoss7148
You beat me to it. I've posted about this before, a crimp tool can change your life. LOL It hurts me to watch her struggle when a $15 dollar tool would fix it instantly.,
Great video (as usual). There is a crimping tool you can use to pinch in the male end of a stove pipe, HVAC duct, or gutter downspout, to make it slip into the female end more easily. I think you just need one pass with the crimper to pinch in the existing convolutions and your pipes will go together much more easily. Look for a "duct crimper" at your favorite store and it will do the trick. It's an inexpensive hand tool.
All I can saw is WOW! Love your build, love your location and admire your vast set of skills. Having lived in the California Sierra Nevada for 20 years, seeing your video makes me homesick for the Pacific Northwest, where I am originally from.
Twist the ribbed pipe with needle nose pliers perpendicular to the pipe in the round to make the pipe slightly smaller. Just like how they make small alcohol burners from cola cans. Merry Christmas.
Now wait just a minute. Santa is real ! I hope you did your Xmas list for a new chainsaw, tools, heels ! 😂 A very merry Xmas from Wales to you both. Nadolig Llawen 🎅🎅😀😀
It would be a good idea to get a battery operated Carbon Monoxide detector for your cabin. Also, build some safety rails just in case you trip or fall accidently from ice on your deck. I admire your talent and work ethic. You truly are one of kind.
Thanks for sharing the build from start to finish. By far the most photogenic picture of them all was you sitting in the open window frame. My wife has a very similar black and white of our Autistic son Brayden and he looks so content
I’m so nostalgic. Winter of ‘73 I spent living in a wood heated bunkhouse while we were building a big log cabin by hand. Living outdoors, working hard and a small cozy bunkhouse to head to for the night. Great project Michelle!
Hi Michy, w hat an amazing woman you really are......How you learn your skills is how it really is, try and try again, until you are happy with the result, which is what you do........Take good care.....😘
Hi again Michelle....i am a retired plumber of 30+ years and as far as the smoke pipe as we call it,they make a set of special pliers that crimp the factory crimped ends even more so that it is easier to slide into each regular end. Then you get what we call self tapping zip screws that lock each section in place.Just a thought. We used the same tubing for water heater vent piping.Hope this helps.
I had a idea what about a second porch roof line at each side of the roof covering the porch to shed the snow to the ground. If you use plexiglass it will still allow the light through. And for your chimney pipe use a large screw hose clamp to reduce the diameter to get it started. Then remove it. Have fun 😊
Hey Michy, thanx for the "Meadow" view, and for the Image of You at 17:30. That Image says so many things in so many ways about Your Character and how You see the World. Thanx for that also. The Meadow would be my choice for building, looking forward to what will happen there.😃
Michelle and Steve, God bless you and Merry Christmas. It wasn't until I felt the warmth of tears on my face that I knew how emotional it was for you to sleep your first night in the cabin. I could see it on your face and in your eyes. TY both for all the smiles, love, fun, and friendship. In a world that needs such blessings you both give them abundantly.
Another great video, and Luna is getting so much better on stairs. Isn't it amazing what having a young female around does to older males. Merry Christmas everyone.

Thank so cool you got to stay at your cabin you built! Congratulations on getting as far as you are on the build. You are a hardworking girl. You are still inspiring me and help push me at work. I love building things. Also. You were in my dream last night. I was showing you the deck with a roof over it that I just completed. Thank you for coming to see me. I felt honored. You were so nice to me in the dream. I will never see you in person. That makes me sad.
Michelle, In your latest video, to get the chimney pipes together, you need to compress the crimped part to make it a bit smaller. If you can’t push it hard enough with your fingers, you can try anything you have on hand. Easiest is a hose clamp with a screw (or several of them connected together if you don’t have a long one) or you can use a piece of wire and twist the connection or even a shoe lace tied around and put a stick through and twist. Hope it will not give you as much grief the next time. Good luck!
What you have accomplished, single handed is true phenomenal! A very rare breed of women ..hats of to you ..Wishing you and husband Steve a merry Christmas from sunny South Africa..ps love Steve's motor sailer ..😊⛵🎅
What if you used a temporary stainless hose clamp to squeeze the corrugated end until it is started? Put it on the corrugated end with just about 5mm (3/16") sticking out past the clamp. Slide it in till the other piece hits the clamp, then remove the clamp. I haven't tried this. Also, while the hose clamp is in place, maybe tap around the edge with a hammer to tighten the crimping.
I'm glad Michelle that you adopted Luna, she will be a great company on your adventures, she will give you a lot of energy and you will find the qualities of love of an inseparable friend and she will give you the love that you deserve, sometimes Loneliness is much better with a friend like Luna!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year¡¡¡¡¡🎆🎄🤗
Michelle your a trouper, very strong, good common sense, Steve is blessed, and you as well with Steve. Love the videos, i personally do not know of many woman, that can do what you have done. I know a handful. You have what i call "THE HEART OF A CHAMPION" what is that you ask, glad you did.. LOL Everyone, i mean everyone gets knocked down sometimes in life, losers quit, those that no matter what keep getting back up, they ultimately WIN! That is "The Heart of a Champion" always getting back up... Tell Steve we said hey from SE Texas Bear ❤💯🙏
Merry Christmas beautiful hope you and Steve had an amazing day.. OMG that photo story at the end.. You are Gorgeous girl. Love from The Land Down Under 😘 😘 😘 😘
If you don't like how the snow piles up, extend the roof to cover the walkway. You can put a couple of posts up with a beam connectioning them. Then run short rafters out to it.
Try pinching one side of the pipe and rolling it into the other if that doesn’t work, switch the pipes around and try to get them to go together that way, and if that doesn’t work, you may need to get a crimper and crimp the knurled end of the pipe also make sure that your seams are lined up with each other… good luck, but I know that you have this you can do it… 🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼🌷
Delighted to see that Lenny has found the love of his life! Go Lenny!! Yet another in a long list of masterfully crafted videos that keep you at the top of my list. Party, long and hard!! -Curt
Love that you've finally got to move into the cabin! Please, though, while you still can, flip the flue pipe so the inserted end is pointed down. I learned the hard way.
There's a tool that will help you get them pipes together, it's called a duct crimper, also you may need to make a few small slit cuts on the crimp end, but that tool is the trick
to fit the fireplace flue ...use a small ratchet strap to squish the corugated end to start it off and get it in ...then take off the strap or a mechanics oil filter tool will do the same thing. Love all the videos BTW :)
KiBosh ! I thought I was the only 1 who used that word these day's . Look up the origin of the meaning of that word . Good job on the hut BTW. You must be fit lugging all that gear up and down. Well done.
My dog died 2 days ago. She was a blue tick hound and I miss here terribly. Watching Luna run around and playing made me smile and I am thankful for that.
You are a Beautiful Canadian woman
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who struggles with those g.d. stove pipes!
Pure misery EVERY time! 😢
Wow what a project ... and beautiful country ... So a good name for your dog is Rudolph since he is Santa's helper ...
Wow, you can already tell that Luna is going to be one of the all-time great dogs!
the blonde hair looks AMAZING!!! makes ur eyes pop!!!
Living at north is all about technology. This shows it clearly.
yup sometimes it take a younger lassie to get the olde farts up & running again..... Happy for Lennie...

Yes! I think foil tape at least (to hold them all together so this doesn’t happen again!). Thanks!

Get the crimp tool! or at least you the needle nose pliers. You are an absolute wonder and you do it all looking good!
I just love that Lenny’s so in love with Luna. It’s so heart warming to see his love for her 🙂
That should feel like a real special night for you in your beautiful cliff cabin !! That’s pretty cool I think !
You are one tough, smart and energetic lady. I enjoy watching.

Maybe a strong jubilee clip to compress a little the one end to make it easier to get it started.
What a beautiful world you and your Hubby and your Animals have created!
You are an Amazingly Strong Person .. I want to wish you and Steve and your Furry Companions a Very Merry Christmas ..
WOW, ma belle made my new year. It's like bacon, and cherries, and cheese cake (and chobani)! Thanx!

I’m so nostalgic. Winter of ‘73 I spent living in a wood heated bunkhouse while we were building a big log cabin by hand. Living outdoors, working hard and a small cozy bunkhouse to head to for the night. Great project Michelle!

LUNA the Stair Master - good to see her up and down the stairs
Proud of Luna 😊
Another great video, and Luna is getting so much better on stairs. Isn't it amazing what having a young female around does to older males. Merry Christmas everyone.
I know, right!!?!? 😜
I still find it hard to believe you still havn't got a rail around that terrace! Especially taking "newbies" down there.
The meadow is beautiful!

From the 20:19 mark, with the dog running and that wonderful music - beautiful. I tried to find the music without success.
It’s a song from epidemic sound. Called “pull me close”. Can’t remember the artist though.
❤Looking mighty fine there Lady

When I fit pipe like that I bring a crimping tool. It's a pliar like tool that forms the male end crimp. Easy to use, to make that end smaller.
Have a peaceful and contented Christmas! Also, I think you are entitled to feel proud.
And have a wonderful Boxing day❤

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years from Tokyo!
So no stove chimney for Santa to slide down. I figure a nock on the door and dads home made cookies will get you Santa's blessing
When it gets warm, maybe build railings for safety. :)

You can buy a sheet metal crimping tool and slightly crimp the crimped end a little and she will slide right in. Just a suggestion from an old Texan.

Oh, my gosh Michelle.....that snowy ❄️ road makes this Southern boy clinch up 😬. Merry Christmas 🎄 from Georgia.
For your pipes there is a tool you can get from Lowes or Home Depot that puts the crimps in. Just put in a couple more and it will shrink some more.
I just don't know how you do it. Life is busy. Your amazing!!!

Thanks my friend! I hope to bring more and more delightful videos to you all this next year 💝. Hope you are well, and Merry Christmas!

Love the ending of this video too! You’ve come a long way for sure!

Yes, finally. Clearly the best 🎁 ever.
