  • This video is a Michymash of stuff, as the last couple of weeks of our life has been a Michymash of stuff 😬. In these instances, I either skip a week for a video, or I make ones like this 🤷🏻‍♀️
    We loaded the camper on the truck and headed north of Nakusp to do some hiking and camping (Monica Meadows and Jumbo Pass) - some of the most breathtaking scenery I've seen in BC!
    Lenny hasn't been well lately, so I share an update on the poor fella - I've had to travel south to Pullman with him for some tests, and we found out some other shocking news too.
    We're rushing to get chores done before we leave the country, and before winter, sooooo basically have a few weeks to get to that point. Yikes. Winter can arrive very early in our neck of the woods, so it's wise to be prepared sooner than later.
    I do end up making a gable end window template, even though the new rough openings are already made. The actual window install will be delayed (Steve can't help me anymore), so I thought I'd take the template out there as I do have room to make adjustments. This way, I will know for sure and be fully prepared for the actual windows.
    It's been nearly a year since we had to put Hannah down, and we miss her soooo much. When we lose a family member, we usually adopt another in their honour, but we haven't done that yet with Hannah. To be honest, we've been trying to get the three dogs we have adopted overseas, but it proves to be an ongoing struggle for many different reasons. Just before covid hit the world, Steve was doing volunteer humanitarian work in Gaza, and while there he kind of adopted three dogs, two of which are disabled. We may never get them here to Canada, but we financially support them and the shelter they live at every month. So, I've started my search for the next female to join the pack 😊.
    The bear skull that Hannah retrieved from the forest last year just before she passed away has made its way to the table again - I finally repair it and situate it in it's new home 💕
    Thanks for watching and see you in the next video!
    M 💝

    The love you share for your pack is impressive. This was a beautiful tribute to Hannah and all her pack mates. The bear skull is a terrific capstone to the facia board on the wood shed. I doubt the inventor of the cable tie ever envisioned that someone would use them to repair a bear skull. Personally I use the small colored ones to secure my luggage when traveling; one color on all checked baggage with spares in my personal bag, and a different color inside a checked bag for the return trip. This way I can tell at a glance if a bag has been opened.
    Wishing you, Steve and your furry kids a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday and another great week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace princess

The bear skull was superior as most of us would have tossed it and not spend anytime on it. But you fixed, repaired and handle it very well. Now, a priceless gem is afixed to a shed. Sad, sure, but testament to how tough dogs and cats are. As an emergency Vet for over 30 years, I have completely lost count of how many times we have found pellets and bullets in our patients on xrays, for completely unrelated things. Cats and dogs (especially) simply live in the moment, accept what is going on around them, and make the best of it. We have a LOT to learn from them... our pets, our family, our friends, our "babies."

You make such great videos. Thanks for sharing. I think all the vaccines and shots and flea and tic meds are killing our animals slowly, like they are doing to us. All my dogs and all my dads dogs, he also rescued shelter dogs, all died with strange symptoms. Like they all had cancer. Just like my Mom and Dad did. I cracked up with Steves excavator arm! Wishing you a great week!

    It really touches me how you both care so much for dogs. Lenny hit the jackpot when you two rescued him at the last minute. The dogs you adopted in the Gaza strip are so lucky that bighearted Steve encountered them. When I see your pack hiking with you in that magnificent wilderness it makes me feel lucky to know there are people like you in this world. Love the bear skull, but since zip ties eventually rot I would suggest using wire to hold it in place. It looks perfect on your woodshed.

      Thanks my friend! 💝. Lucy has always reminded me of Hannah - she was hit by a car and her injuries were too severe for them to fix in Gaza. So she moves around like a wheelbarrow. She has always been our priority to get here first so that we can get her fixed and more ergonomically correct, but with her injuries being so old now, we don’t know what that would even look like. And wonder if she would be better to stay in the sand where she’s at.
      Anyway - time will tell.
      I had wanted to use wire - but couldn’t find any around the house Hopefully they last long enough before I have to redo it 🤞

    • @nancybrown2700
      @nancybrown2700 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Michelle, It was so heartwarming to know how Steve stepped up for those dogs in Gaza, yet now the unimaginable situation there makes that "feel good" story all the more personal and tragic for me. There is no comprehending the terrorist mentality, pure evil incarnate, but knowing on the other end of the human spectrum that kind people like you exist makes this tragic moment in history a bit more tolerable for me.@@michygoss7148

    I'll admit, I'm really not much of a dog person (cat lover.... Hi Southgate!!). But it even broke _my_ heart to hear that Lenny had a bullet lodged in his body!!
    My non-violent mind wants to try and believe that it was somehow an accident. Because I simply cannot fathom any situation where someone would intentionally shoot a creature such as a dog!! Truly heart-breaking!! I hope the little fella gets fixed up, and all goes well..

    • @michygoss7148
      @michygoss7148  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I wish to believe it was an accident too, but it wasn’t. Lenny was very abused, and still suffers from a ton of psychological trauma (even with all the love and kindness we showered him with all day long). I don’t think he will ever forget his past, which is very sad to me. But he is happy for the most part!

It is amazing he has survived as long as he has. We recently had to say goodbye to the last of our beloved fur baby. She made it to 15 years old. Her sister made it to 13. We miss them both a lot. Just something about certain dogs that adds so much to our lives. Aren't zip ties just the cats meow for some projects...?! That old bear will do a good job of watching over you wood for a long time to come. As far as Michymash goes..... It amazes me how much you two pack into your lives. This year it was an above ground pool and deck for the kids. Recently a solar water heater for the pool but by the time I finished it the sun is no longer high enough in the sky for the solar heater to capture enough sun. I couldnt get over the view from your cabin and the snow already on the distant mountains is definitely a sign that Autunm has arrived. Love the closeups of the pooches.

    Fantastic episode Michy. Hey Steve, I just gotta say you are an amazing guy, and a great fit with Michelle. Wishing you both, and your awesome dogs, continued peace, harmony, and happiness!

    I remember the episode with the split facia and suggested you use the metal ‘plate’. Using it to mount the skull is really clever. Looks great!

    Michelle, the world is a better place because of you and Steve. Don’t know you but feel like we could be friends - and LOVE the skull, its new location, and the (more or less) forever connection to Hannah through it… ❤️
    OH - and +1 on copper wire when it becomes appropriate!

    Really a great episode. Hugs to you, Steve and all the pups. ps I think you should use copper or stainless steel wire to secure that skull. The plastic ties will likely get brittle and fail.

      If we had wire at home I would have used it (but I couldn’t find any, and I hate going to town. Haha)

    Have you and Steve ever gone into the Bugaboo area? great camping spots and hiking. PS, Steve, the stairs look great, craftsmanship before stamped concrete 🤣
