I rewatched this movie for the first time in forever during a transatlantic flight. While waiting to deplane, I talked a little bit to the middle aged man that was sitting next to me and he told me that I watched one of his favorite movies ever. And, honestly, slay.
This brings back a similar memory of being at my parents and my dad after knocking back a few drinks and seeing Pitch Perfect was gonna be on FX, he just began speaking its praises quite loudly. “Pitch Perfect. I like those movies. It’s just such nice, harmless fun.”
Thank you so much for acknowledging that The Breakfast Club is just fine. People need to stop acting as if it's one of the best films to ever been made.
Exactly, my expectations were so high when I watched it the first time that when it didn't live up (not even close!) I just never watched it again. And this movie was a big reason I watched it in the first place so....aur nawrrrr
For me it was amazing cause it was just like me and my friends that always got kicked out of our classes lol I think it was more like a understanding type of thing, to just get the characters and relate to them in a way that makes the movie great. For me, personally, there are movies that it's just not for us but that are awesome to other people with other lives and experiences.
*Nods. This film is the good kind of cringe and is totally a time capsule of our dark past. I used to have been singing Magic as my ringtone. In 2012 that remix with titanium was considered great 🫠, we were lost. Ur hair looks good, I hope the allergies dissipate soon 💙
as someone already said, it plays in the credits. i do prefer it to the actual (herpes 😭) line but everyone broke character cuz it was one of rebel's many improvised lines
@@TalH-G I love the herpes line more for the blonde one’s reaction to it in the next shot. That one glare without saying anything conveyed both annoyance and sheer confusion as to what she just said.
GURLL I feel you on the pollen allergies I myself recently resurrected from a similar plight. I do wish you a speedy recovery sending you the best healing vibes queen
I'm not native English speaker. One of the reason i watched breakfast club was pitch perfect movie... I was really waiting for epic background score moment in that movie while watching 😁😁... Apart from last song i don't even recall any background music in breakfast club... The Breakfast club movie amazing through..
no the way this movie was filmed at my local college and i had absolutely no idea until my sister told me. now when i watch it i point out all the spots
As a redhead, I kinda hate the line about being 'punished' for it but I totally agree with you about having a love-hate relationship with this movie and the range of Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Banks, love them both sm. 😊
I watched this movie for the first time with friends during a music festival so that was appropriate...the way they had their reactions cued and ready for pretty much every scene while me and the only other person who had never seen the movie were plunged into comedic horror repeatedly was truly something special. So many awful characters and yet some truly iconic randos
I think your critiques are spot on when reviewing through the lens of current times. However, back when the movie was made (I was in college at the time) mash ups were a new thing. It wasn’t as common to see everyday people making remixes and mashups. So Jessie’s comment on her mixes being good resonated with a lot of people since her equipment and approach to mixing was not accessible to everyone back then. Regarding Becca’s dad and college: in the early to mid 2000’s our generation was still being told that college was the ONLY answer after school. We were dealing with the conflict of not wanting to go into debt/being forced to choose a way of life we no longer viewed as a necessity vs. parents holding the belief that you wouldn’t get a job if you didn’t go to college. While Becca’s attitude is super entitled and rude (it came off that way even back then) it was more a commentary on the changing attitude towards the idea that college is necessary right after highschool. Another thing to note: while a lot of Becca’s attitude could be dealt with in a healthier way if she went to therapy, during the early to mid 2000’s therapy was not as commonly accepted, especially if you didn’t have an “actual problem”. We were in the era of Brittney Spears and Amanda Bynes’ mental health decline and a lot of tabloids and the general public were making fun of them, not encouraging therapy sessions. So while the movie does have some very obvious answers when viewing it today, back then these were all situations no one saw as absolutely cringy. It was just another character who had issues they needed to work through. Not saying that the cringy or problematic themes aren’t valid, I watch it today and can’t believe why we didn’t notice it back then. I think it more shows how we as a society have evolved/progressed since that movie came out. Love these reviews you do! Keep them coming!!
I saw this and Silver Linings Playbook for the first time last year and it really makes me wonder what we were collectively smoking in the early 2010s.
Jesse should have shown Becca the Twilight movies
i agree
anna kendrick both being in twilight n this, as well as elizabeth banks being effie trinket r truly worlds colliding

thank you!! 2012 was a cursed time!
Wait- the version I saw in theaters def had “this is god punishing you for being a ginger.” Am I losing it??
maybe they removed it from the netflix version??? unless I’M losing it????
i think it’s shown during or after the credits
Why do I remember watching that part too when watching the movie on tv/on demand

I never understood the wow factor of the cup song. It baffles me to this day
fr
I think it was its simplicity. The fact that it was so easy to do yourself and sound good doing it. Like playing Wonderwall on a guitar.

Woke up from a nap to greatness.
I love listening to these reviews! Gives a different (realistic 😂) perspective.

I kept hearing Bella instead of Becca and to me they are the same character both boring and privileged af 😂
omg i literally messed up so many times recording this video by accidentally calling her Bella instead of Becca 💀
praying for both of us to feel like humans again 😭🙏
🤝
Your videos, hot takes and humour are 10/10

Omg thank you, I thought something was wrong with me when I wasn't crying after watching the breakfast club 🤦🏻♀️

I would love videos like these for the rest of the series!!
Whenever uou're feeling better ofc :)))
"barely living, not laughing, nor loving" 😭
it's the way when i hear any song that was in the riff off, i physically can't not sing the riff off version

Hope you feel better soon!
i blame this movie for making me think that riff-offs were normal at college…
this movie set me up for disappointment regarding my university experience and ill never forgive it for it (still the best movie ever made tho)
I saw this and Silver Linings Playbook for the first time last year and it really makes me wonder what we were collectively smoking in the early 2010s.
2012 was really elizabeth banks's year
girlie i’d love to hear your thoughts on do revenge and a simple favour 💖 you are such a gem
also the riff off is filmed in a emptied pool

psa it's beca with one c because she's quirky or something 😭 idek if she's legally rebecca or not
Im sorry but I never liked becca ⚠️⚠️⚠️ also hope you feel better !

Idk man Jesse really did it for me on every watch lol
I have no idea if this movie is Oscar worthy or pure garbage I just know that 17yr old me watched this at least 30 times in three months 😅
💜
It’s hot trash but I am a raccoon 🗑️🦝
