DUDE! YOU FORGOT *WHAT THE HELL HAVE I?*
Nutshell : *start playing*
Me : *start crying*
Witchurt Chuya don’t cry 😭
That's deep bro
Nutshell really does sum up my life rn ngl
I doubt that
Same man..
He is playing Alice In Chains. Wearing a Tool shirt. Also wearing a Failure shirt. The taste in music is strong with this one.
A-fuckin’-men.
Wow I didnt even see the shirt
I just noticed that "Tool" on the shirt looks like "Bender Rodriguez" eyes (Char from "futurama" series)
Olath i hadn’t “noticed” that
@@cms3816 My skill of finding totally useless stuff has kicked in. Don't worry, I have it under control now))))
There are two definitive sounds of Alice In Chains. The hard rockin' and badass side, and the eerie and depressing side. These different sides is what makes this band so amazing and why they are my favorite band.
XXPedia i would add 1 more side i notice in their sound, the acid/trippy touch like in born again or dirt
Private Hell makes me cut onions
@@jtough7499 lol
And just a dash of weird beatles esc. chord progressions
Love this video, but would've loved even more if he had included What the Hell Have I? on here...that main riff with the middle eastern feel to it is just godly, and unique even within the AIC catalogue.
"Sludge Factory" has to be one of the top 5 grungiest grunge songs. Quite literally the definition of "Grunge"
Or literally the definition of Sludge 😂
Sludge is a style itself just saying
Man With Two Eyes agreed
Well, isn't it funny that the song is about a class of people who would like to think of themselves as "squeaky clean." That notion is probably a defining characteristic of a lot of music of this nature. (Music that tugs at your heart strings and, at the same time, makes you want to punch someone in the face.)
Sludge metal… the chorus to man in the box is the epitome of a grunge song imo
This dude can turn a band s discography into one long, progressive, and beautiful song.
Rotten Apple is so underrated
It's my favorite aic song
It's highly rated.
My favorite song tied with Sludge Factory
Very highly rated actually. I know a lot of people who consider it their best song, me included.
I'd go the other way, saying its overrated. I like other songs way more on Jar of Flies, well that's just means they are great
The. Best. Sound. On. TH-cam.
Andriy Vasylenko hey Andriy. the album of 2013 is called Black Gives Way to Blue ...
love to you
I know. I just cannot release any video without making stupid mistakes in the captions, even if I recheck everything thousands times. black gives way to blue is an album I loved since the release (2009). I was 20, and I used to listen to it everyday but I copied and pasted the wrong album title everywere. well done ....
Andriy and andrea? You two are my best youtube metal musicians...
Hope you work together some day... greetings from México♥
+1 Yeah guys, you sould work together! at least for something short & simple. Kudos from Venezuela.
Died has to be one of the best riffs ever written. horribly underrated song.
Brett Ray its a fcking raw masterpiece
If I remember correctly I don't even think the song was completely finished anyway, I think they wanted to adjust something, but I could be wrong. Either way, still in the top 10 best riffs from them for me.
Edit: actually that's my favorite rift ever so far
I love "died" and "get born again", too sad they could not go on together.
I think the chorus was the unfinished part, which makes sense when you listen to it. Usually their choruses absolutely soar but on "Died" it kind of just stays on the ground. The vocals save it though.
@@exxusdrugstore300 I guess so. Who knows.
I feel like Whale and Wasp doesn’t get enough credit. It’s really haunting in a incredibly beautiful way.
Agreed
Everything that ever happened is underrated and hasn't been given enough credit.
it sounds like something the government would play over the sirens as a massive meteor is about to land on the united states
Private Hell always struck me as a haunting beauty too.
If Eric Clapton made guitars gently weep, Jerry Cantrell makes them grieve.
I always thought that one part of the song represents the whale and the other the wasp. The part shown here is the whale, deep in the dark blue ocean. The string part is the wasp flying around on a sunny day.
Cantrell is the defintion of how to write mostly simple riffs which are yet catchy and fresh. I could not say anyone who could be compared with him.
MrSipi1988 there’s nothing simple about their riffs. They were some of the most advanced and mind blowing at the time and still are. Some of the best critics put them way ahead of their time.
Maybe Frusciante
@@danielthomas4652 Dude, come on... Alice in Chains is probably in my Top 5 of all time, but Jerry's riffs could ABSOLUTELY be simple at times. He just had a gift to making a riff sound incredibly unique and fresh in spite of it being incredibly simple. The main riff to Man in the Box is as simple as it gets. The main riff to Angry Chair is literally three slowly picked notes!! There's nothing wrong with playing simple shit if it was still something you hadn't heard before.
And let's not talk about his insane live tone. Best tone i've heard in my life, Jerry is amazing
Daniel Thomas You're joking.
There's no such thing as a bad Alice In Chains Song
Jamie Hellfire I would argue " Put You Down" isn't that great.
I always thought "Put you Down" was one of their best. Sweet as hell riff!
Mobes Mobes its good , not great...great is like would & man in the box etc...
Late to reply, but everything post the Staley era was lacking
I'm not sure bout there newesr album
R.I.P. Layne Staley and Mike Starr.
Jerry Cantrell has probably the greatest riffs ever.
Chuck schuldiner
Tony iommi
Joe Duplantier.
John Petrucci.
Mick Thomson.
Jerry's my favourite guitarist of all time
Nah... that's Tony Iommi
Alice in Chains is one of the few artists who can successfully create scary sounding music imo (sorry Manson)
Opeth hello
Well that’s scary but that’s about it. His other stuff is to violent shock based to be enjoyed
@Weebi Agreed. They're also good at finding really eerie riffs and melodies without them sounding Halloweeny.
@@christiantromop8313THE LEPERRRRRRS COOIIILED beneath the TREEEEEEEEEEEEES
Rammstein maybe? There's at least one horror song put into most albums, some of those songs are genuinely scary
12:06 Layne Staley's YEAH is one of the most satisfying things to hear. Best Grunge singer. Jerry was a beast too
Yes yes yes 🙌🙌🙌🙌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💫💫💫🥰🥰🥰
I prefer Cornell vocals
@@thedancingguy828 oh do you?? nobody cares

@@thedancingguy828 lol chill out bro. Ypu come on an Alice in Chains video saying you prefer a different singer on a comment talking about Layne then call people a bitch. Dont be so insecure
this dude puts tons of work into these vids and doesn't get NEARLY enough views
100%
No 110%
NO DAMIT 100000%
Cantrell is one of main things that makes me go pick up a guitar almost every day. His tone is beyond legendary at this point, and if you take a look at his chord structures, a good chunk of it is basic blues based, so to me he's the approachable guitar hero. Like in No Excuses, all he does is take a bar chord, and makes the top two strings open, and it's so simple and so effective.
Oh, and he has the most Titanic, gut-punching riffs (All of Acid Bubble? Stone? Get Born Again? HUGE) AND he has a great voice in his own right. He's one of those once in a generation kind of talents. I hope he sees this vid.
What a great comment to read.
+Batuhan Mutlu aynen kanka
Ya Boi Camper Görüyorum da Be'Lakor dinliyoruz kardeşim?
+Batuhan Mutlu
1. Opeth
2. Be'lakor
3. Ne Obliviscaris
Progressive gidiyoruz be aga napalım :p Yakında dizcem rafıma Be'lakor diskografisini, çok heyecanlıyım. Sen ne dinliyosun merak ettim.
Ya Boi Camper Güzel, klasikleri biz de severiz :) Son Ne Obliviscaris albümü bende birinci albümün etkisini yaratmadı maalesef. Daha kötüsü, birkaç kez dinlendikten sonra sıktı. Portal of I'ın kalitesine erişen modern albüm sayısı çok kısıtlı zaten.
Her tarzda metal dinlerim, lakin favorilerim tech death (Beyond Creation, Obscura, Atheist, First Fragment...) ve black metal (Hate Forest, Cultes des Ghoules, The Great Old Ones...) gruplarıdır.
of course "black gives way to blue" is copied and pasted wrongly everywhere in the video. not to mention that the album was one of my favourities when it was released (2009). I was 20, good memories. I just cannot release any video without making some stupid mistakes in the captions. it ALWAYS happens, even if I recheck everyhing thousands times. it's a fucking curse.
anyway:
- I think this is my best sounding video I've ever made until now, and I'm pretty proud about it. this expansion of the ez drummer 2 sounds fucking great (rock solid), my mastering skills are improving and I'm finally adding the stuff I need to my workstation, after my PC change. however I don't own hundreds of guitars and pedals like Jerry did in the last 27 years. so, in some parts, I had to settle for the sounds I had, even if they were not perfect.
- I don't own a talk box or a decent wah pedal and I don't want to have one, because I hate it. so I've used the shitty wah function from my old boss gt6 pedalboard in front of my amps ... and it sounds like crap
- I've sung more than the other videos. after all, I used to listen to alice in chains constantly from 19 to 22 years old. their melodies are just fucking great and part of my life
Yeah dude you fuckin knocked this one out of the part. Jerry is a master when it comes to melodies. He can make the most beautiful melodies (Down In A Hole, No Excuses, Don't Follow, Your Decision, I Stay Away, Whale & Wasp, Rotten Apple, Private Hell, Black Gives Way To Blue, as well as some of the weirdest/scariest shit I've heard haha, Godsmack, Sickman, God Am, Frogs, Head Creeps, Angry Chair, Grind, Rain When I Die. You just kick ass dude! Tool is my all time favorite hard rock band, followed super closely by AIC! Keep it up!
Hell yea this sounds so fckin good!
You killed it, man! Great job on everything, love your videos!
Yeah man I'm a huge Alice fan and you really nailed it!
any true AIC fan knows that this is the best video ever. rock on bro.
@@ShootYourRadio I think the fact that someone else being able to play his riffs this well with flawless transitions makes it better than Jerry doing it himself because Jerry already knows these riffs so I don’t think we as an audience would be expecting much because we already know he is great. There is a certain surprise factor in seeing someone other than the original artist being able to make such a good contribution.
Alice In Chains is best grunge band.
Change My Mind.
There is nothing to change
In my opinion and don’t completely berate me with opinionated insults, nirvana had the most compelling songs, but AIC was a near second
@@doorwaysniffer5254 Respectable opinion. I dig all of 'em. Nirvana, Soundgarden, AiC, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Temple of The Dog, etc.
Ehh I prefer Soundgarden. It’s not even close either. Alice In Chains is just sort of alright imo.
I hate the word grunge...
That feeling when you know all the riffs played... Shout-out to Alice in Chains, the band that changed my life. Good job dude
metalFlover I wouldn't love music so effing much if it weren't for them. They definitely changed my life too.
Absolutely love the riff for Frogs. The whole song by it self is a masterpiece.
Got goosebumps through the whole video. Cantrell is a riff GOD. Looks like it's another Alice In Chains spree for a couple of months for me!
Paolo Perrusi yep me too!
Ain’t better display of love, respect, and appreciation for Alice in Chains in youtube. You are the very best.
In the mid 90s, these songs were the soundtrack to life. They were playing in the background almost everywhere
I never realized just how many AIC were out there as popular, or at least as "known" tunes till I listened to "the Essentials" all the way through. Nearly EVERY song they put out was a hit...or at the very least, really well known. A more prolific and consistent band--grunge or otherwise--I don't know of. THE. BEST.
@@goudagirl6095 Nirvana would be more consistent if Kurt lasted at least until the early 2000 like Layne
@@thedancingguy828laynes last project was in 1995 man
@@raphael5963 the Bank 1999?
Black Gives Way To Blue is such an underrated album. So many killer riffs. And very coherent album
I don’t think it’s underrated. It is great, but it’s generally rated pretty highly.
@@justaperson4737 I think he means in comparison to their old albums
One of the best comeback albums of all time, Jerry is GOATed
Alice in Chains is that band that the more you hear it the more you love it, absolutely amazing band, great riffs, lyrics, voices
Everything man
And this video is UNDERRATED AF, man you're so talented and this definitely took you a lot of time but it's really appreciated what you've done
The contrast with Nirvana is sadly giant, Cantrell is an unbelievable guitarist.
I don't think you can really compare them since they are so different. Kurt was not a great guitarist, he was effective. Nirvana's lyrics were what held them up. Cantrell is an amazing guitarist. The guitar and combined lyrics held AIC up.
Different style, Kurt was also a good song writer. He knew how to write down what the felt. That is also important.
Nirvana and Alice are two different things. Cantrell is an unbelievable guitarist and song writer. Just like Nirvana they aren't the same without the lead. Never should have made new music under the name Alice In Chains.
Nirvana was more like punk rock. Just like not fair to compare Ramones with Mozart, every band was important in their meaning and purpose.
I respect that you prefer Alice but insulting Nirvana can't be tolerated.
I had somewhere to be but then I found this video. At riff 20 I thought “that’s enough, I’m going to be late” happy to say I stayed for all 50.
A lot of work went into this, made me rekindle my love for AiC not that I lost any :-p
I always loved "I can't remember" and every time I would look it up on spotify I woudn't remember the songs name, ironic huh?
This is a old comment but its super funny haha
Damn this video really shows you how diverse their material is
One of your best videos yet.
Absolutely!!
Ur pfp is my lock screen
Every time I get into a particular riff, I want to start singing along, but then the track changes... I consider that a sign that you (and Alice in Chains) did an amazing job. Keep it up!
This channel is the best place in the whole internet. Period.
Love it. Jerry Cantrell is an absolutely underrated guitar player. Maybe the biggest influence on me and you nailed it. Good work man.
Every riff off of Facelift should be on here. That whole album has some of the sickest riffs I’ve ever heard on it.
Every AIC project is filled with amazing riffs, not ever song can make the cut for a top 50 album sadly
The sound is mint. Top notch audio and guitar skills. You should do Soundgarden and then take a big holiday! I'm sure these videos have many hours of hard work behind them. I just have to thank you for sharing.
Staley would be proud
Tuna Bozkurt He wouldnt. Because there are many riffs from the new "AIC" with duvall :/
And Jerry also
Would
@@lukakesselgruber356i know this comment is older than time lol, but i think he would, because jerry wrote the riffs, and the two were basically brothers
Cantrell is probably one of the most overlooked talents in music, I loved Layne but he outshined everyone in the band Mike too
Overlooked? I don't think so. nobody overlooks them.
Overlooked / underrated...
Every video someone says this....
I didn’t see What The Hell Have I in this list. One of my fav AIC riffs
I think if he replaced a couple of the The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here songs with What the Hell Have I and Junkhead this would have been a perfect video.
50 soundgarden riffs
Brian Ramírez yes
yes x2
please
PLEASE
Oh God Yes!
Dude, you sound exactly like Cantrell on Your Decision! Love the video overall, I just thought it was amazing how close you sounded there. You’re an amazing guitarist and singer. Keep rocking!
Make it 51 and do "What The Hell Have I?" I should shut up though, this video was awesome, and pretty much every AIC riff could've made the cut.
Amazing video but I can’t believe what the hell have I didn’t make it, that riff is so fuckin awesome
Holy shit that riff is one of the best 100%
Angry Chair, Rain When I Die, Stone, I Stay Away, Again, Dam That River, and Nutshell. 7 favorites by this band (6 of them from Layne Staley days). So much that I learned the bass lines to them. Great stuff, this band was a true talent out of the grunge era, and will always be remembered for their work and their messages to us.
Rain When I Die bass is my favorite
I remember when this video came out and I was in my senior year of high school. I was in English class and I put this on to listen to while I worked but I just couldn’t help stare at the screen. This video produces a joy in me I can’t quite explain :)
Still loving it
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! RIP LAYNE STALEY...
sounds like you happy he died
Not at all. I was requesting this video for a while so I was obviously excited when he posted it.
I miss you too Layne. This sucks. But we love you. Love Bites.
And Mike Starr
Yup. Layne in heaven be like:
"Hey Kurt."
"Yeah?"
"You know? Jerry really is holding up there. Really doin' some good work."
"Yeah. And that Duvall kid is not half bad either. Proud at these guys."
Yes! AIC are so underrated!
Next time:
Slayer
Black Sabbath
Gojira
Led Zeppelin
Sepultura
WEEE ARE SEEEPOOLTURA!!!! WEEE ARE FROMM BRAH-ZHIL!!! OOOOOOYYYYY!!!
Well Patrick Bateman, I’m quite shocked you didn’t mention Phil Collins... but then again maybe you just had to return some video tapes
CloudedSkies Do you like Phil Collins? I’ve been a big Genesis fan ever since their 1980 album, Duke. Before that I didn’t really understand any of their work. It was too artsy. Too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins’s presence became uh more apparent. I think Invisible Touch is the groups undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility.
One of the biggest and best bands of the 90s.
Not underrated at all.
Never underrated!!
God, I was worried that you weren't going to do Rotten Apple, haha! Great video! You did a bunch I wasn't expecting - like Get Born Again and Died. Would've been cool to see stuff like Fear The Voices and Social Parasite but I loved what we got!
The transition from brother to down in a hole was unreal.
"WhAt I SeE iS uNrEaL!"
Dude you did the impossible! Covering 50 different Alice in Chains songs is not an easy task but you nailed all of them so perfectly. Congratulations! Your hard work and effort put into this must be highly appreciated. ❤
THANKS OMG MY FAVOURITE BAND EVER!
Hell Yeah AliceInChains Finally!!!!
But then you realised you missed Sunshine
Awesome MVS The chord progression there was beyond good )
Great video & beautiful Gibson SG. I'm curious why he didn't have the red notation on the Drop D songs tho. Them Bones, Dam That River, Sludge etc...
If someone asked me the question “What kind of variety do Alice In Chains have?” I would just show them this video.
Finishing with Rotten Apple and that bass chord was exactly how I imagined this Top 50! Amazing rendition Andrea 👏🏻🔥🔥
Greatest grunge band ever in my opinion...Great video btw
Mostly on metal than grunge though...
50 Black Sabbath riffs?
So true. Riffmeisters supreme.
He's got too with his Iommi guitar.
Awesome
I truly enjoyed watching this. You did an amazing job!
Dude you were spot on singing we die young good shit my guy
It's like a big adventure and memories from Alice In Chains whole career in one video. Love it!
I've rewatched this so many times and every time the song Sunshine makes me think of War Pigs. Great job!
Музыка Алисы в цепях настолько настоящая что парень не выдержал и запел. Красава, у тебя есть музыкальный вкус. Ллейн улыбается нам с другой стороны.
Excellent choice, love Alice In Chains!
Never clicked so fast!!!!!
50 Riffs Faith No More
*Nutshell, Rotten apple, don’t follow, and your decision play*
Me: *time to cry, time to die, time to debate my entire life*
Don't Follow and Whale & Wasp really deserve more recognition than they get.
Jerry Cantrell is underrated. One of the most gifted and talented guitarists/songwriters ever imo.
Underappeciated and undervalued, maybe. But I don't anyone would call him underrated.
Holy Fuck dude, that was amazing! You should do 50 Soundgarden Riffs, maybe they have an underrated career, but there's a lot of memorable and epic riffs
Thanks MR JERRY CANTRELL
Awesome job, man. One thing I noticed too is that the drums were spot on as well and that's one thing I'm really picky about. Nice attention to detail.
I'm usually not a fan of SGs but I LOVE yours! Its gorgeous!
hollow is one of the sickest riffs ever. that and we die young have to be 2 of the best riffs ever
Where is Them Bones?
i love how HEAVY both of them are
def that too. im a sucker from chromaticism@@thedancingguy828
You're a really fucking good guitarist dude, but your singing is equally amazing! I swear I heard Layne on Again!!
You played the exact riff from ‘Lab Monkey’ I was hoping you would. You do great work, brother.
At 0:53, that transition is perfect
Just about every transition on here is perfect.
Frogs is the sound of depression but where is junkhead?
Usually when people say "hey, you missed [insert song]" it looks like a nitpick. This is not one of those cases, when the 2nd best song from the band's best record misses the cut.
@@big_red01027 What is the best off of Dirt? I wanna assume Dam that River or Them Bones but I'm not sure because everything on Dirt is a masterpiece.
@@DoctorPepper445 "Would?", then "Junkhead".
@@big_red01027 My favorite song from Dirt is Rain When I Die and Junkhead is my 2nd favorite, then I guess Angry Chair is my 3rd.
Jar Of Flies I think is my favorite album. Theres so much warmth and mellow-nostalgia I feel whenever I hear those first notes of Rotten Apple, and then when it transitions to Nutshell. I get brought back to the chilly days of Autumn, post senior year graduation in New York.. I wish I could go back...
Yess! I also get an autumn vibe from Jar of Flies ❤
Great homage to riffmaster Cantrell.
Jake B he's honestly the tony iommi of grunge
Joe Yuzwa Absolutely
Caralho mano
Seus vídeos com 50 riffs são de geniais
Alem de agradar quem é fã da banda você ainda divulga um monte de riff que muita gnt não conhecia
This guy makes me listen every album of every band
This is the greatest compendium with the smoothest flow I have EVER heard. Instant sub... And I'll be damned if I'm not motivated to learn every single riff.
Thank you. This was emotional.
Glad you included Died! One of my favorite riffs ever! I love seeing other people love Jerry as much as I do! Can't believe ya left out A Looking in View though!
TOP 50 Gojira riffs !!
He has to do that!!!
Gojira has to be done
Please 🙏
Yeah \m/
Hugo Leydet is that an emo band
0:55 DAMN !!!! Didn't expect this. It's one of my favorite song!
Finally found Stoned!! I saw AIC and they were amazing however Stoned was a new stone for me but gawwdd that riff has sooo heavy. Thanks to you I finally found the song. You rock man thanks for this vid. I subscribed
It's been 4 or 5 years that I now come back to this video, it's like a timelapse of Alice in Chains, feels sooooo good! Keep up!
That transition from Down In a Hole to Don't Follow legit made me cry...
That tone! Amazing! How am I just seeing this! It Ain’t Like That is such a sludgy amazing riff!
I had to like this video as soon as I saw it on my feed. AIC is my band and you played all the riffs like Jerry!
Damn, Jerry is a guitar genius...❤️ Every riff sounds so unique and beautiful - one second and you immediately know which song it is.
Also, you really nailed those songs - you've got some real talent man 👏🏻
That rooster tone is probably the best I’ve heard so far, how much chorus is needed for that.
What I love about this is you rock every song like you wrote it yourself, unlike most covers on YT where the guitarist/bassists are so robotic they look like they lack passion.
took me 2 years to find this wtf
Yes baby
Ain't like that just wasn't long enough. It can NEVER be long enough !!! Awesome job bro !!!!
Jerry might the Greatest Guitarist Alive
Him, Adam Jones and Buckethead are like the top 3 best guitarists alive right now
Jimmy Page is still alive lol
Kiko Loureiro
@@tyronescringeheaven1120 buckethead??? Lmfao he doesn't even crack the top 1000
He is not the best-there are lots of guys, that can play faster, more accurate and difficult music, but Jerry definitely talented composer and songwriter as well. His solo career is also great.
The best part of this video is that you saw to play Nutshell in an almost completely dark room. Saddest song ever. Also all the softer, acoustic songs.
This is the video i didn’t know i needed but boy do i need it.
You missed a really good one in "Godsmack". That's such a sick riff. But! Excellent work on this video, you're extremely talented!
Jerry literally has the most amazing riffs not just the heaviest the most catchiest and best riffs to offer to the grunge genre
Them bones intro sound
